Hey guys! It’s The Awesome X-Kun here with a little update of sorts on my latest big time project! If you couldn’t tell from the big image above, it’s called the 721. What we’re doing is creating a banner for EVERY.. SINGLE.. Pokémon that exists! It’s pretty rad! This post? This post is going to show off some of the awesome artwork that our forum members have submitted so far!
I want to point out that we’re only allowed to use official art in our banners, this includes Video Games, TCG, and Manga. Video Games including, but not limited to, Pokémon Stadium, Pokémon Snap, RBGY, FRLG, GSC, HGSS, RSE, ORAS, DPPt, BW, B2W2, XY, and Super Smash Brothers.
So! Let’s start with yours truly! My ego is so massive that I always have to put myself first!
I reserved Primeape, and when I was looking around, I didn’t really see any art that I liked until I saw the Dark Primeape from the Team Rocket Expansion Series. It looks so dark, brooding, and violent, that I had to select this one for my banner. It wasn’t easy to render it to make it pop out the way I wanted to, but in the end I was satisfied with my result.
Next, we have PTGigi!
Check this out! The radical digital motherboard pattern combined with Porygon’s colors as a gradient makes this banner pop, and catch your eye almost immediately. I expecially like how Porygon is relatively transparent, which I can actually imagine it being in real life. This is really an awesome banner. Good job, PTGigi!
Now for Suicune’s Fire!
This banner is HOT! HOTHOTHOT! Sure it could be considered basic because she isn’t the sort that makes banners all the time, but for a novice graphic this is well put together! Flareon is clearly the focus of the image, and the warm colors that fade to black make it ominous and powerful. The thick border surrounding the image makes it clear that it’s a banner. Well done, Xanthe!
Let’s see what ShadowJay has for us!
This banner has a lot going for it! The flow is wonderful. Clearly all going in one direction, and that’s important in any good art piece. A warm central focus spanning to a cool outer space makes it easy to look at without being too distracting. Then with the double border to lock it in, this banner is complete! Great effort, ShadowJay!
Time for Pokémon Trainer Sarah!
Behold the majesty. Literally every positive detail I described in the other banners could fit into this single image! Bar having an actual border. But who needs borders when you’re THIS good? That’s not true, bad Sarah! Never forget your borders! However, what is true is the tremendous display of art work! I’ve never seen an Ivysaur look so… AWESOME.
