Boston Open Event at Worlds 2015

Boston Open
Pokemon has announced a new event that will be happening at Worlds called the Boston Open. This is the first time an event of this size with Championship Points on the line will be held at Worlds.

The Boston Open is a side event that will take place at Worlds starting on Saturday, August 22 for both the TCG and VGC. This event will be open to everybody including those who did not take part in the World Tournament that started on Friday. This means that trainers who simply came to observe the main tournament have the opportunity to compete against players who didn’t make it into the second day of competition. Competitors will be divided into four flights with up to 128 Masters, 64 Senior, and 64 Junior Division players. The top players from each flight will be grouped into several single-elimination rounds on Sunday morning in order to earn Championship Points for the 2016-2017 season and packs. The Championship Points from the Boston Open will be the same as Regional Championship Points. The Boston Open will count towards the number of Regional events that a player could earn points from to count for their 2016-2017 Worlds Invite.

Those who will be taking part in the TCG Boston Open will need to know that this tournament will be using the new XY-on rotation. That means that their decks need to be reformatted to not have any cards from BW-era.

Registration for the Boston Open will be from 9:30–10:30 a.m. Saturday for the video game. Those who want to take part in the TCG can register for the Boston Open from 7–8 p.m. on Friday and 8:30–9 a.m. on Saturday.

Best of luck to those planning to take part in Worlds and the Boston Open.
