It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for Crossroads Comics!
This week we’re taking a look at French’s FireRed Nuzlocke. This is a nuzlocke that is over eight years old at this point and while it seems to be drawing ever closer to its conclusion, the story isn’t quite over yet. French’s FireRed Nuzlocke is the story of French taking on a FireRed nuzlocke, pretty self explanatory. It follows French and her starter, Chippo the Charmander. They travel throughout the Kanto region taking on the gym challenge and facing off against the nefarious Team Rocket.
One of the things I really like about this comic is its inclusion of the Rocket Brothers as characters in the larger overarching story. All four brothers play a role in the story in some form, and while I can’t go into detail without spoiling it, it really adds some fun and flavor to the story overall. In addition, the Pokémon designs are all really nice. The author, FrenchTeapot, has designs that really make all the Pokémon feel distinct and, in my opinion, cuter than their Sugimori counterparts. This style also really enhances their expressiveness too and just overall is great to look at.
