Detective Pikachu has found his partners in crime-solving with the movie not too far off from the start of production.Big Little Lies and Supernatural alum Kathryn Newton and Justice Smith of The Get Down have now been attached to star opposite the Great Detective Pikachu. The game in which the movie will be based upon revolves around the character Tim Goodman and a talking Pikachu.
Smith will reportedly play Tim, while Newton will portray Lucy. Lucy, who in the game, is a journalist researching why captured Pokemon have been turning on their trainers with the help of her Psyduck. It is unknown however if the movie will follow the same plot, or deviate from its source material.
Pokémon’s Detective Pikachu will be directed by Rob Letterman, from a script by Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch. Currently without a release date, the movie will begin production in January.
