Errata for Electrode from ‘Evolutions’

Electrode
It looks like there will be a change in how Electrode is played!

Pokemon has recently announced an errata for Electrode from ‘Evolutions’. An errata for a card is usually made after a mistake has been detected such as incorrect text was printed or changes are wished to be made.

Below is what Electrode read when it was printed originally in Evolutions.

Once during your turn (before your attack), you may Knock Out this Pokémon and attach it to one of your Lightning-type Pokémon as a Special Energy card. This card provides 2 Lightning Energy only while this card is attached to a Lightning Pokémon.

Here is what the card will now be read and used as when played.

Once during your turn (before your attack), you may Knock Out this Pokémon and attach it to one of your Lightning-type Pokémon as a Special Energy card. This card provides 2 Lightning Energy only while this card is attached to a Pokémon.

This change to Electrode will now allow it to be attached as a two Lightning Energy to any Pokemon. Prior to this change, you could only attach Electrode to Lightning Pokemon such as Jolteon EX and Raikou. Though, you will need to attach it to a Lightning Pokemon first.

Effectively, this change allows Electrode to be used in many different decks outside of Lightning variants. Players can now use this card in decks that love to pile on energy to do heavy damage such as M Mewtwo EX, Yveltal EX and Lugia EX. You can use Electrode’s Bzzap Thunder to attach it to a Raikou and then use Ninja Boy to replace Raikou with a Lugia EX. The errata will allow Electrode to be attached to Lugia EX after the swapping of Pokemon.

This errata is effective immediately and must be played with the updated text.

EDIT: More information was added for clarification.
