Fan Artist Works on Detective Pikachu

Detective Pikachu
One artist got a huge shot with the new movie!

You may have seen the work of RJ Palmer in one way or another. Perhaps you have seen his work in some of Ubisoft games such as South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Maybe you know him for his Pokemon fan art where he drew the Pokemon as realistic and dinosaur-like. If you haven’t then that is fine because you will see his work in Detective Pikachu!

The Detective Pikachu team hired RJ Palmer for consult upon searching for realistic Pokemon designs. What they found were his artwork from 2012 where he drew realistic Pokemon designs for many Pokemon. From there they hired him from six months during 2017 to work on the designs. Those designs can now be seen in the Detective Pikachu movie that was released yesterday.

It sounds as if RJ Palmer is happy to see his work is finally being shown. His work was great many years ago and it is awesome to see his renditions come alive on the big screen. Each one of these Pokemon have a realistic tone that ties in nicely with their original designs.

You can check out this Kotaku article that shows off some of his realistic designs. Are you excited to see more Pokemon from Detective Pikachu? Let us know in the comments!
