Five Pokemon Facts You Don’t Know (6-10)

mqdefault

Last week, I posted some Pokemon facts that you didn’t know. You’ve waited patiently, so here are some more Pokemon facts that will be new to you!

Fact #6:

The tapir is a large mammal that looks similar to a pig. In Japanese folklore, tapirs are said to eat people’s nightmares. Sound like a Pokemon you know? Drowzee, the hypnotizing Pokemon, was based off of the tapir.

Fact #7:

Splash is an interesting Pokemon move, due to the fact that it does nothing. Ever noticed that it’s a Normal-type move, even though you’d think Splash would be a Water-type move? That’s because the move Splash was a mistranslation of the Japanese word, “hop”.

Fact #8:

When Pokemon Red and Blue were in beta, Koffing and Weezing were originally called “Ny” and “La”. These names were supposed to represent New York and Los Angeles, because of the smog they are known for.

Fact #9:

The Pokedex entry for Magneton in Pokemon Red and Blue states this: “Formed by several Magnemite linked together.” With that in mind, you would think Magneton would weight somewhere around three times as much as Magnemite. However, Magnemite weighs 13.2 pounds, while Magneton weighs 132.3 pounds, more than ten times as much as Magnemite.

Fact #10:

The Psychic-type has three weaknesses: Bug-type, Dark-Type, and Ghost-Type. A theory for why that this is because bugs, ghosts, and darkness are common fears.
