Pokémon Ultra RPG

Hello, Pokéfans! If you're reading this, you are hereby invited to attend the Pokémon Ultra Role Playing Game (URPG) Sun and Moon Invitational!

What is the Pokémon Ultra RPG?
At its most basic, the Pokémon Ultra RPG is a Pokémon simulation game, run by the community and including rule sets the games don't allow. Activities possible, via Discord or forums, include:
• Battles and contests without the four-move limit;
• Rewards of in-game currency for battling, contests, and more;
• Purchase of items and some Pokémon from the Poké Mart;
• Catching Pokémon by writing stories, engaging in roleplaying games, and drawing art;
• Engaging in special battle modes and challenges, such as Free-For-Alls or custom tournaments;
• Collect gym badges by defeating formidable Gym Leader players, and challenge the URPG Pokémon League!

The Sun and Moon Invitational is an event being hosted from December 16th through 18th by the URPG, to celebrate the addition of Sun and Moon's new Pokémon, Alolan forms, and rule-sets. Any Pokémon fan is welcome! There will be Battles, Free-For-Alls, Contests and Festivals; the only thing needed to take part is to join this Discord server!

What does the Pokémon Ultra RPG offer?
• Battles: Players are able to use their Pokémon to fight other players or challenge gyms. Battles work similar to the video games, but there are some differences. One of the most notable differences is the lack of a four move limit. Players are able to use all of their Pokémon's level up moves in addition to any additional moves the player may buy their Pokémon in the Poké Mart. The Battles section also offers Free-For-Alls (FFAs) with unique special rules and tournaments.

• Stories: In the URPG's Stories sections, players are able to write stories to catch new Pokémon or to earn some extra cash. Pokémon have been divided into ranks, and these ranks determine the difficulty of the Pokémon when it comes to writing the story and capturing it. One unique thing about the Stories section is that you do not have to have your character catch the Pokémon in the story. Some of the best stories that have come out of the Stories section have been about the Pokémon itself, and not a trainer catching the Pokémon! The Stories section also hosts a Summer Writing Competition and a Winter Writing Competition in addition to other events throughout the year.

• National Park: The National Park is one of URPG's role playing sections. Before entering the Park, players are asked to create a park character. Once that's done, players are able to choose the area of the Park they'd like to enter, and a Ranger will take them through the Park to encounter and catch Pokémon! For new players, a Beginner Run has been implemented in which players get all of the items they would need for a Park run, and whatever they don't use is theirs to keep! There are also Normal runs, Endurance runs, and Team runs that players can embark upon. In addition, the Park is divided up into three sections: the Beginner RP, the Individual RP in which a player can go on a run by themselves with a Ranger, and the Main RP in which a player can either go on a run by themselves or go on a run with a friend. In the Main RP, players can also run into others that are in the same area as them!

• Contests: The Contests section is where players can earn ribbons on their Pokémon. The URPG offers three types of contests: the RSE contest, the DPPt contest, and the BW contest. The RSE contests are similar to how they worked in the third generation games, but players are able to use all of their moves in the contests. DPPt contests are also similar to how they worked in the games, and again, players are able to use all of their moves. The BW contests are a form unique to URPG as the 5th generation games did not have contests like Hoenn and Sinnoh did. In BW contests, they act as battles, but the player with the most hearts is the winner; essentially, you can lose the battle and still win the contest! The Contests section also holds Festivals, which are similar to Free-For-Alls in the Battles section.

• Art Gallery:
URPG's Art section allows players to use their artistic abilities to catch Pokémon or earn extra cash! Players are not limited to just drawing Pokémon, however. Just about any art form can be used to try and catch Pokémon in the Art section! The Art section also offers a variety of themes to choose from to earn some extra money each month!

• After Hours:
The After Hours RP is URPG's newest section. In this RP, players can create a human, PokéSoul, or Pokémon character. PokeSouls are human/Pokémon hybrids in that the soul of a Pokémon lives within the human. The plot begins ten years following a comet crash on Earth that resulted in the creation of PokeSouls and the division of humans and PokeSouls. Humans and PokeSouls use animanga face claims. The After Hours RP is exclusive to the Petalburg Woods.

How does the Pokémon Ultra RPG work?
The URPG makes its home on three forums: Bulbagarden, Petalburg Woods, and Pokémon Crossroads. Despite being housed on these forums, the URPG acts as its own entity. It has its own staff team, and all issues are handled within the URPG without intervention from the host forum. The only time the host forum intervenes or does anything for the URPG is when it is requested of them. However, members of the URPG are still bound by the host forum's rules in addition to the URPG rules.

It does not matter which forum you decide to start your journey on. Joining URPG on one forum makes your registration valid on all three of URPG's branches. You will only have to keep your stats up to date on one forum, and you can do all of your participation on one forum or split it up across all three. It is recommended to create an account on all three forums, however, as there are activities that can be done on all three branches, such as Underground rolls and auctions.

Once you've joined, you are able to request an invitation to our official Discord chat! The main Discord chat, separate from the temporary server where the Invitational is being held, is where much of the action takes place; there, players can participate in live battles and contests, and talk about the game.

How do I join the Pokémon Ultra RPG?
If you like the look of the battles and contests run during the Invitational, and are interested in joining in, you'll first have to create an account on any one of the three host forums. From there, you can request your starter and once approved, you can make your stats. After that, you can join our official Discord chat and get started on your journey!

If you're interested in going into the National Park or the After Hours RPs, you'll want to make character sign ups in those individual RPs.

We also have a Getting Started guide that can help you get on your feet as well!

What if I have questions about the Pokémon Ultra RPG?
If you have questions about the URPG, you're welcome to contact any of the URPG staff members on this forum or via the Discord Chat! In addition, we have a general chat thread on each of the three forums that you can also ask questions in.
