The Cloudrise Tower is quiet at nighttime. The stars are more prominent on the edge of the city, which almost gives you a sense of calm amid the harsh reality of the Stalkers and the terror they rain down on the city.

Before heading to the spot on the exterior of the building where you know the CPY Lockbox rests, you check to see that nobody is around. Although you can make yourself invisible, there is still the possibility of a Stalker seeing something suspicious happening near a vital piece of information you need to gather on them. Once you are convinced that you are alone, you head directly for the groove around the side of the building. When you arrive, it appears that, to your relief, nobody has been here since Amia found the spot in the first place.

You remove the branches that Amia placed in front of the hatch and angle the box so that you can open it with the CPY Key you brought along. The lid slides open and tucks itself behind the box, revealing ordinary tools inside. You frown, picking up a regular screwdriver and wonder how this can help you. At first you think that there must be some mistake, or that Uru's research was found and disposed of before you got the chance to get to it first, but before making any final assumptions, you pull out each of the tools and attempt to remove the mould into which all of the tools had fit. The black plastic eventually unclicks, and you take it out to reveal what you were after: a sheet of paper lying at the bottom of the box. You pull it out and begin to read it.

=Uru's Research 1.1= was added to the Team Records.

The research is vague, barely helpful, and overall does not give you much more than you already know. You imagine this piece was written at the very beginning of Uru's research, but you wonder why it was placed in this box if it was mere speculation. Surely, you think, it must have been put here for a reason.

You flip the paper over and see some written words: Valcon, Floor 6. You figure this is a relevant location, and keep it in mind to tell the other Emissaries.

Knowing there is nothing more here, you leave, taking the note with you after placing all the tools back in the box and slipping it back into the hole in the wall.

    {Search: (48c) Balek Manufacturing Plant (Abandoned): Floors 21-30}
The abandoned Balek Manufacturing Plant looks the same as when you visited a few days ago. Its decrepit state makes you thankful that you are a Pokémon with the ability to levitate, as someone who would have to walk around on the rotting floorboards would surely find themselves falling through to a lower floor at some point.

Knowing you have already searched the bottom sections of floors, you head straight for floor 21, which is just as dark and dank as the other floors you recall visiting. You realise you did not miss this place, even if its eerie isolation gives you a small portion of peace in the quiet of the night. Everything looks relatively similar to the other hallways, rooms and areas of the lower floors, and you find yourself at times accidentally searching a room you have already scoured. You continue up the floors until you find an area on the 29th floor which looks like it had been quite heavily guarded when the factory was in operation. None of the old mechanisms and security appear to be working any longer, but you do come across one thing that catches your attention: a safe.

It's old, looks broken, and you would probably assume it held nothing of import had you not been overcome with a cold, sickly sensation when within a short distance of it. You know this feeling, as it's the same one you suffered when you searched this factory the first time, and wonder what could be within the safe. You try to phase through it, but it appears to be protected by some otherworldly force field. You figure that there is something related to the Stalkers inside the safe, although right now, you simply cannot get in.

Object {Old Safe: +Fighting Type+ / <Lockpick>} was added to the Team Records.

The remaining floor in this sector does not provide you with anything worth recording, so you take note of what you found and return to base for the night.

The sight of a comfy bed in the safety of the Emissary Headquarters is too much for you to resist. Knowing that you need to rest up in order to press on, it's an easy choice for you to head straight for the thick covers and the enticing mattress. You slide into your chosen bed, feeling your head settle into the pillow right before you are swept away into a pleasant and peaceful sleep. Here, Stalkers do not bother you. You begin to heal.

Katzu has recovered 1 point of Sanity.

When you wake the following morning, the pressing sensation in your head has faded somewhat. You're not one hundred percent recovered, but after a night of recovery, you feel significantly better.

    Protect 71. Caagu the Numel.
You find Caagu the Numel at his apartment in the Jetstone Apartment building. It seems he was about to settle in for the night. He seems surprised at your arrival, but he welcomes you in anyway. His apartment isn't anything too flashy, but it's got the simple comforts like a nice living room for entertaining, a soft carpet, cozy lighting, and walls and furniture decorated in warm colors.

"Great to meet you too!" He replies, looking content. "I'll admit, I usually don't get company at this hour, but it's not a bother, trust me!"

You offer your services of protection, swearing to keep him safe throughout the night.

"Really?" Caagu asked, looking delightfully surprised. "Wow, thanks! Uhh, really, make yourself at home while you're here! Oh, and one of my coworkers brought in donuts that I took home today. If you want one, feel free! Didn't cost me anything anyway!"

#71 Caagu the Numel will be protected from all Stalker attacks for this Night Cycle.

"Well, I've got to get some sleep," Caagu tells you. "Really, thanks a bunch for this. Having great Pokémon like you around definitely helps others sleep easier! Good night!"

He then heads off to retire for the night, and you stand vigilantly by the door, making sure any Stalker that decides to show up here tonight will be making a big mistake...

You arrive at the Valcon Glassworks factory at night when essentially the plant has shut down for the evening and all of the workers have gone home. When all the lights are off, it seems to blend in with the creepy abandoned industrial sector of the city, but at least the condition of the building doesn't make you feel like you're going to fall through the floor sometimes.

You direct your search toward the 11th through 20th floors, where it seems the plant does most of its cutting and packaging here in large workshop rooms with large, heavy equipment. As you can tell, the output produced by this plant has to be handled extremely carefully to prevent cracks and scratches. After the glass sheets are cut by lasers guided by computers, they're then wrapped in high-durability bubble wrap and prepared for shipping orders depending on the client and the referenced geographical location. This computer-aided distribution system seems to be pretty effective, but unfortunately, at this hour, you're not going to see it in action with the machines and computer system offline and nobody working here at the moment.

You find that after searching several floors, Valcon seems to have plenty of business and unlike some of the other bad business stories around, they continue to not only survive, but profit quite well. With the amount of shipments prepared and the amount of output produced, it definitely seems like they're busy here and there is no short supply of business.

When you get to the 18th floor, something strikes you as odd. There is one area here roped off for renovations, but it still seems like someone had been here recently. You find there were a few supplies like flooring material, a tool bag, and a high-tech welding iron knocked over and scattered about on the floor. Whoever bumped into them didn't put them back or clean up the mess they left behind, seeming to suggest they were in a hurry or simply didn't care about what happened. But one thing stands out among the mess. It seems a key was dropped and left behind by whoever came dashing though here. And the odd thing is that it doesn't look like some of keys you've seen that belong to the machines and doors.

At Valcon, they all use magnetic keycards, but this particular key seems to be a metal key that functions entirely on electric pulse signature sequences, looking almost like a card-shaped taser. You pick it up and there's a mark of "PKR4" in white stencil lettering. You're not sure what this means, but you decide to take the key with you anyway. You get the feeling it's definitely to something else not related to the plant...

Item [PKR4 Key] has been added to the Team Inventory.

You search through the remainder of the floors, but there doesn't seem to be anything else unusual that stands out. You decide to head back to base with what you have found.

    114. Utab the Bouffalant has been murdered by the Stalkers.

    Location: Outside Blackbridge Industrial Plant
    Cause of Death: Slow-acting poison

Right outside the abandoned Blackbridge Industrial Plant, the body of Utab, a visiting Bouffalant, was found. Initially Ejub, the Piloswine who discovered his body, assumed he had simply fallen asleep on the footpath, but upon closer examination, it was clear he was, in fact, dead. His body was found donned in high-class attire and was near-perfectly preserved. Jewellery hung from his long horns and his afro was immaculately presented. His fur was neat, pristine, and there was no external trace of harm or struggle.

Sequintia shrugged, baffled by the Bouffalant's strange appearance. "It just...makes no sense. Why would a Stalker go to so much effort to dress up its victim? Just look at him, Pormalu..." She leaned down, examining him more closely. She felt intrigued, which she was clearing using to mask her disheartened feelings about a seventh nighttime murder in a row.

"I just can't believe...he's gone..." Lychee stepped in, pausing her work at the crime scene as she shook her magenta head. "His book series just took off." She turned to Pormalu, who was too devastated by yet another murder to take the lead this time. By his expression, she could tell he wasn't aware of Utab's status. Hesitantly she continued. "A few weeks ago, he published the first book in his trilogy, Restless Awakening, and it skyrocketed to fame... only eight days later, he released the second title in the series, but he still had one left." She shook her head. "Such a shame... He was in Silvercoal City to do book signings on his first tour. Maybe he was...targeted because he was famous? What better way to ruin morale than to off a public figure who brought hope and a sliver of light to a suffering city?"

Pormalu grimaced at the Scolipede's comment. A public figure. Fern. Last night's death had hit the entire police force hard, but Pormalu especially felt responsible. He was meant to protect his force, and he had proven that he was incapable of doing so. His inner turmoil was immense; he was almost convinced that if he wasn't targeted by a Stalker soon, the dissipation of his sanity would be his undoing.

"Porm?" Sequintia repeated, snapping the Arcanine from his thoughts. "Doesn't that sound suspicious to you?"

He cleared his throat, taking a few steps back from the body while the forensics team took over. He and Sequintia walked a few paces together as Lychee stayed behind. "W-what is?"

The Pyroar frowned a little. "He becomes famous out of nowhere... The guy was a politician two months ago, but quit after his big break. He publishes a massively successful book, happens to come to Silvercoal City doing book signings for the same book that made him famous, then gets killed? The Stalkers could have targeted us, but instead they went for some harmless author. He dies of poisoning in a pristine condition in a clean area, wearing dressy clothes. This is clearly a Stalker's doing, yet evidence doesn't necessarily point towards a Poison type. We haven't had a case like this one... Could this be another Stalker?"

Pormalu's heart sank. He shook his head, but he didn't have an actual answer. He was tired. Tired of the chase, tired of the guilt, and tired of the seemingly climbable mountain of solving this gargantuan case. "I don't know, Quen... All I know is, Utab's family needs to be contacted."

He ripped his mind away from the scene, mulling over what he would say to his family. He closed his eyes, hoping with all of his heart that this nightmare would be over soon.
