    We, the Remnants [SU/DS]

    THE STORY SO FAR...

It's been exactly twenty-four hours since the bomb or whatever catastrophic source had caused this incident in Kanto. All hell broke loose in the form of mutated Pokémon and mass amounts of people and Pokémon dying in the streets, somehow sizzling to death.

You had no choice but to hunker down in Cerulean City and just try to survive.

Almost a day later, only now do you get you finally got the warning to evacuate. Details have been limited, but you have been told that "anyone that can prove they are not infected will be safely evacuated, but you only have two days before the ships leave."

No one mentioned what happens afterword if you miss the boat or if they stop you from boarding, but it can't be any good considering what just happened. Some say the whole area will be forever quarantined while others say the military is going to purge it. No one knows for sure but it doesn't look promising.

You don't know all the details, but this disaster caused some kind of horrible genetic disruption or airborne mutagen to be released or activated. While trying to take shelter in Cerulean City from the chaos and screaming, you've either witnessed or see incidents of regular Pokémon becoming mutated into Ferals. You've seen them become incredibly violent and powerful, often tripling in size. It has also affected humans, turning them into hybrids of human and Pokémon. It has also been witnessed that there are several levels of infection from the lightly infected to the deeply infected.

But there are plenty of humans and Pokémon that didn't survive the initial disaster and couldn't take shelter in time. Many of them are dead as a result of their failed and fatal mutations. Those that survived the initial strike, including you, are still subject to mutations, as if this were an earthquake with aftershocks. Meanwhile, there are plenty dead from Feral attacks and that number is on the rise.

That's all you know for now. You're still in Cerulean City and the only way to go south is by foot with the roads completely locked dead with stalled and crashed cars. It seems keeping holed up in Cerulean City to wait for rescue isn't going to happen now. You've got to get on the move yourself if you hope to escape the infection that has already claimed so many others.

    DIFFICULTY LEVEL

There are three ways you can play out this RP depending on how much immunity you want to have and how difficult you want the RP to feel. This is really for those who might get too attached to their characters to take on the full brunt of what the RP would naturally be dishing out.

FULL IMMUNITY MODE: In this mode, your character and their Pokémon will never be subject to the infection randomizer while the RP will treat it as if your character is simply dodging the infection out of luck and happenstance. For storyline purposes, NPCs and other characters will still treat it as if your character could be infected.

HUMAN TARGET MODE: In this mode, only your human character is subject to infection. Their Pokémon are not. So while your human character may become a gijinka or a morph during the RP's duration, their Pokémon are safe from the affliction that is happening to others around them.

REALISM MODE:The full and emotionally brutal way this RP was meant to be played. In Realism Mode, your character can become fully infected as a Morph and their Pokémon are subject to the slight chance of becoming Ferals. While this 1% chance is low (it's much more common in NPCs), it still exists and it's brutal if it happens. If you remember the movie I Am Legend, think of what happens to the dog. Now imagine that happening to your Pokémon.

    INFECTION DETAILS

First and foremost, going into the skies is suicide. The infection gets worse as the elevation rises.

There are three levels of infection for human characters:

Level 1 - Human - Not infected at all. Could evacuate easily if they arrive at the ship in time.

Which has a 5% chance per post of moving to:

Level 2 - Gijinka - Lightly infected. Has the ears, tails, and other minor features of a Pokémon. Could blend into a crowd if said Pokémon features are hidden, but would not pass inspection at a checkpoint (you would have to sneak your way onto the ship).

Which has a 3% chance per post of moving to:

Level 3 - Morph - Deeply infected. Looks more like an anthropomorphic Pokémon and has no chance of blending into a crowd at all.

When you make your sign up, you choose what Pokémon your character will start to become more like if they become infected (not necessary if you pick Full Immunity mode). Each post, you have a randomized chance of catching infection and moving up in form (Human >5%> Gijinka >3%> Morph). If you become infected, your next post should detail the mutation. If you become infected, you can use Pokémon moves and attacks, and the more infected you become, the stronger these attacks become.

Very contrary to popular belief, this mutation does not affect mental capacity, only physical form. However, considering the presence of the Ferals, there are many who believe Gijinkas and Morphs are at risk of going violent and berserk. This is also why they're not being evacuated. Some also believe chances of infection are higher around those that have already been infected, but this isn't true.

Meanwhile, there are three levels of infection for Pokémon (wild and companion)

Level 1 - Normal - The Pokémon is behaving as normal.

Which has a 3% chance per post, per Pokémon of moving to:

Level 2 - Feverish - The Pokémon is becoming very agitated and overly-impulsive. They're also starting to grow in size a little more...

Which has a 1% chance per post, per Pokémon of moving to:

Level 3 - Feral - The Pokémon increases greatly in size and strength and becomes uncontrollably violent. In most cases, there is no choice but to put them down entirely.

Note that this only applies if you selected Realism Mode.

    And DONE!

    Difficulty Level: Realism

    Name: Jonathan Lomax
    Gender: Male
    Age: 36
    Infection Pokémon: Ninetales

Description: Standing 6'2", Jonathan has a tan skin tone and jet-black hair that runs down to his shoulders. He has a strong muscular build, but not to the point of him being like a professional wrestler. However, in his work as a bodyguard, he needs to be physically ready to bring someone down if need be.

Jonathan wears a black leather jacket over a white t-shirt along with a black cadet cap. Meanwhile, he wears worn denim blue jeans and black sneakers that have seen some wear and tear. From an outside look, you wouldn't think he's guarding someone or something, which makes him that much more effective at blending in and not seeming like an obvious threat.

Personality: Jonathan isn't one for fooling around and wasting time. He's not heartless, but he doesn't have patience for stupidity and wasting time. He can keep a cool head and maintain indifference, but up until a point. He isn't one to panic and he hates it when others freak out and get too emotionally involved.

Jonathan isn't afraid of fighting. In his line of work, he's often sized up everyone in case he has to break into a fist fight with them at any time. Of course, it usually doesn't result in that, but one can never be so sure when lives are on the line and anyone can be watching.

History: Jonathan was born and raised in Johto. While he trained Pokémon, he never took the league challenge and instead focused more on schooling rather than training Pokémon. He sought out to get involved in professional sports, but he never did get his big break while in school. While he was often a stellar competitor in boxing and wrestling, he was far too often overlooked by the spotters, so he never did get selected to compete for college teams.

He then tried to become a police officer while out of college, but despite all the training he had gotten, standardized testing screwed him over when it came time to knowledge testing. He was offered another shot after taking the course again, but he simply turned it down.

Jonathan found himself taking on bodyguard jobs while looking for work in Kanto. For the most part, it was for rich folks that had the money to burn. While in Cerulean City looking after the teenage daughter of one of his clients, the disaster struck and Jonathan lost track of her in the confusion. With all the havoc that has been going on, Jonathan keeps his Kimber Royal .45 ACP pistol at his side at all times and his Pokémon ready to go.

Other: (Anything else that wasn't covered in previous sections)

    Pokémon: (1-6)
Nickname (optional) and Species: Echo the Espeon
Distinguishing marks or features: Echo's fur color is slightly lighter, making her closer to a very faint light violent/white color as opposed to lavender. She also prefers having cleaner fur and does her best to keep it as impeccably clean as possible.
Personality: Echo is calm, doesn't say much, and is more of a strategizing and calculating battler, trying to battle smarter rather than harder or faster. She may not hit as hard as some other Pokémon, but she recognizes personality patterns and trends and knows how to react to them to her advantage. She also doesn't stress too much and knows when it live and let die.
History: Echo is Jonathan's starting Pokémon, given to him as an Eevee. She was a bit shy at first, but thanks to Jonathan's training, she grew out of her skepticisms and recognized her potential. Her evolving into Espeon was actually purely an accident and wasn't Jonathan's original intention, but he and Echo were accepting of the new changes and were both willing to work with them.

Nickname (optional) and Species: Lash the Lycanroc (Dusk)
Distinguishing marks or features: There isn't too much that distinguishes Lash from others of his kind, though he does have a few scars on his front legs due to a rather violent battle with a Scizor. They cut in deeper than expected and it took Lash longer to recover.
Personality: Lash is friendly, but focused. He knows there a time for work and effort and a time to rest and relax. And he's smart enough to know the difference and what matters most. He respects fair play and teamwork just as long as everyone is doing their fair share.
History: Jonathan came across Lash as a Rockruff. The trainer, having become so destitute that they simply couldn't take care of him anymore, had been begging for someone to look after him. After failing with two other trainers, Jonathan offered to keep Lash and train him. Since that day, he's never seen or heard from that trainer again, but he has helped Lash grow and become stronger as time as gone on.

Nickname (optional) and Species: June the Lopunny
Distinguishing marks or features: June's fur isn't quite as poofy and fluffy as others of her kind and looks more straight and matted down. It used to be just as fluffy and bouncy as any other normal Lopunny, but she still isn't over the loss of her original trainer and as a result, things like her appearance haven't really mattered all that much to her.
Personality: June used to be very lively and optimistic, but ever since the death of her original trainer, Alyssa, she hasn't been the same. There are times when it seems June is okay and doesn't mind a battle or coming out to do things with other Pokémon, but there are others when she would rather be by herself. And during those times, she may be prone to having flashbacks, which may result in spurts of depression and sometimes be followed up with crying.
History: June used to be one of the Pokémon that belonged to a female trainer named Alyssa. However, after Alyssa lost a long battle with cancer, her Pokémon had to be given to new trainers to new homes. Alyssa, having been one of Jonathan's last remaining friends since high school, was given June to train and look after. It's been difficult for both of them, but Jonathan respects June and takes care of her as if she was his own since the very beginning.

    I have one question.
Would a Legendary gijinka be alright?
I have one, and I can swear that she would not be overpowered for several reasons.

    Difficulty Level: REALISM, BRING IT

    Name: Gina Gardner
    Gender: female
    Age: 20
    Infection Pokémon: Uxie
Description: Gina stands at about 5'3". Her hair is chestnut brown, reaching about halfway down her back when down, but usually pulled back into a braid. Her skin is pale. She has green eyes, and wears contact lenses. She has noticeable acne, particularly on her shoulders and upper back.
She has a penchant for bright colors, particularly yellows and oranges. She tends to wear a yellow shirt and orange jeans fairly often.
Personality: Gina is an introvert, but not necessarily shy. Most of the time, she simply prefers her books to whatever is going on with other people. With books, you know what to expect. In stories there's a narrative structure and familiar tropes and archetypes. In non-fiction, it's pure fact on a specific topic. People can be confusing and difficult to read, but books are just words.
If spoken to, Gina will respond and try to be pleasant, however she's not one to start a conversation.
She's rather collected and level-headed, the type to try and have all available evidence present before she takes any action. Others may see her as a procrastinator or indecisive, but a better word to describe her is careful or cautious.
History: Gina has not led a particularly exciting life. She was born and raised in Cerulean City. Throughout school, because of her introverted nature and her preference for books over humans, she didn't make very many friends and largely went unnoticed by others. She didn't particularly like swimming on her own, but loved going to aquariums and swimming with aquatic Pokemon, and eventually decided she wished to become a marine biologist and study Pokemon underwater up close and personal. On her sixteenth birthday she received a popplio who she named Nixie.
Other: I have many ideas for how her transformation shall go and it's gonna be fun.

    For Each Pokémon: (1-6)
Nickname (optional) and Species: Nixie the Brionne
Distinguishing marks or features: Nixie's frills are alternating shades of white and indigo rather than blue.
Personality:Nixie is cheerful and optimistic, and somewhat narcissistic. She will perform tricks for attention and treats, and if she feels she's being ignored she will get progressively more arrogant about getting humans and her trainer to notice her.
History: Nixie was given to Gina on Gina's sixteenth birthday. Nixie had been bred by a professional Pokemon Breeder as a show Pokemon While Nixie still loves performing, she's content to stay by Gina's side.

Nickname and Species: Aegle the Lanturn
Distinguishing marks or feature: Aegle's blue scales are paler than a typical lanturn's, and are dotted with white speckles.
Personality: Aegle is quiet, and dislikes fighting. She's skittish, and easily scared by loud noises. Aegle tends to stick close by Gina and Daphne, and dislikes physical contact but loves sweet berries. The only other being Aegle is willing to touch is Daphne.
History: Gina adopted Aegle from a shelter. Aegle was born in the wild, but apparently had a previous trainer who she was abandoned by. The shelter suspected that Aegle was abused by this trainer, resulting in her skittish tendencies.

Nickname and Species: Daphne the Dewgong
Distinguishing Marks and Characteristics: Daphne is perhaps a little larger than the typical dewgong.
Personality: Daphne is mothering and protective, particularly when is comes to Aegle. She disapproves of others trying to intimidate her or one of her fellow teammates or trainer. If she's not being aggressed though, Daphne tends to be laid-back and even lazy, sleeping for hours on end.
History: Daphne was adopted at the same time as Aegle, since the two had formed a bond while in the same Pokemon Shelter and Gina was uncertain about separating them. Daphne took a liking to Gina as Gina didn't make her battle and appeared caring towards Aegle. Over time, Daphne became protective of Gina and Nixie as well.

They might be a little too hard to work, so let's just stick with what's official. I just think it would be tricky if one was allow, then it would open the doors for others to be out there, also.
