As Marina's Prinplup was called back to it's Pokeball, I tried to grab one of my own.

"Don't." Cody shouted, as he stepped forward, "You're injured and you will only make it worse."

"I'm not gonna sit back and do nothing!" I yelled back, as I tried to get up.

"Like hell you are!" Cody shouted, as he let out two of his Pokemon. A Gyarados that faced the Charizard and an Espeon that faced me.

"Don't let her get up!" Cody said to the Espeon. It's eyes glowed and I felt an invisible hand hold me down, preventing me from getting up.

Cody then turned to face the Charizard with his Gyarados. The water type was much larger than the Charizard, but physical size could only go so far, and it soon fell as well.

    Attacker: Gyarados
    Opponents: Mega Charizard X
    Attacker's Point Value: 20
    Opponent's Point Value: 130
    Bonuses: Kai -7/Charizard -26
    Attacker's Remaining Points: 0
    Opponent's Remaining Points: 91

Cody called his Pokemon back to its ball, however the Charizard batted its wings, and launched itself into the air, before another explosive projectile hit, knocking everyone who was still standing to the ground, except Kinnie who seemed to be missing.

There was silence as the sound of heavy footsteps crunched along the ground towards us, bringing into sight the source of the attack. A tall, muscular man in his late twenties, with messy, unkempt hair and light stubble. He wore a pair of large boots and torn jeans. His top half was covered with a large trench coat, which mostly hid something terrifying, but not completely. His right hand was made completely out of metal, which looked as if it went all the way up his arm.

The man walked silently towards William and held his right hand forward. The metal hand seemed to transform, opening up and revealing a large barrel with a glowing blue light. Then finally he spoke.

    "You don't belong here..."

    ****** @Rival Max @Brettles
As Renny speaks up the head grunt raises his hand and the two grunts either side of Renny step back, however those holding Matthias do not loosen their grip.

"Look kid, I'm just a grunt. I can't make decisions like this. Only my leader who is currently in Canalave can make that decision." The grunt explains, "Either way I am taking this one with me to see him, and you are coming too. You can come willingly, and talk to him and try and come up with some sort of deal, and he might agree to let you go. Or we take you with us the same way we are taking him, and are going to take the rest of your little superhero group..."

    Thud, thud, thud

Kinnie's heart raced and her head pounded. The man, now in view, was drawing near. She remained hidden, ducking low in the brush which managed to obscure her entire body. She gripped a poké ball, trying to quiet her breathing. However, something prevented her from throwing the ball. She tried it again, but hesitation took her entire being. She frowned, confused at herself. Her pokémon were tools, and she needed to use them, but...she would be putting them in danger. 'Why should that matter?' she growled at herself, confused, frightened, and baffled at her own inner conflict. 'Because...they shouldn't be put in harm's way just for me.'

She questioned herself again and again until the man, now dangerously close, gave her her last moment of pause. It was now or never.

Just after he uttered a mouthful of words and stepped in line with her position, she lunged.

"Seriously, dude," Matthias said to the grunt still holding his arm, "I am not trying to run away, so this continual grip on my hand seems to be some desire to just hold my hand. I'm flattered and all, but I've only just met you. Take me on a date or something first."

"You saw the message on the Poketch. The group have left left us behind. Abandoned us. So ask whatever questions you want. I am an open book on those people I was travelling with. Better yet, what perks are their to signing up to join team Galactica?"

Palila watched as Neith let out her pokemon, then Marina. She felt a surge of pride towards everyone who was standing up and battling, but then her gaze shifted to those who were not.

Kinnie was...gone? Drake was fussing over Sophie, along with Tony. Neither of them were helping the battle, and both of them seemed overly concerned about a single burn, when they were all about to get annihilated.
"You're not going to get instantly better! Soph's not going to die from it- but we are ALL going to be boiled if you don't get into this battle! Drake,Tony, Sophie, you better ALL get into this fight So Help Me Gyrados!!" Palila shook her fist at them from across the clearing, channeling her angry mother.

Oh, and then there was Cody, who had sent out one single pokemon. It was amazing, to be fair, but for some reason he also got his other pokemon to pin Sophie down. What the farfetched?? Palila glared daggers at him. Holding someone back in a time of such dire need was a foolish thing to do--
    And then WHUMPH
With a great gust of air, Palila found herself with her cheek to the dirt.

    ----

Meanwhile, Dartrix and Staravia had been hurriedly swooping through the underbrush, searching for the source of the shot (along with Kinnie).
They didn't spot him- but they did spot her.
Being used to hunting prey in the forests helped them to hone in on the tiny movements she was making. The two swooped silently along through the trees, Dartrix almost moving like a ghost. And then, out she jumped- and they swept through the air behind her, breaking into the clearing again with a screech.
Claws outstretched, they flanked either side of Kinnie, ready to attack whatever it was that she was attacking.
They may not have been her pokemon, but they were on her side, and they were on a mission.

I watched as the assailant made his way towards William and point his weapon, before Kinnie came out of nowhere and leapt towards him. However as quick as Kinnie was, he was quicker. His metal hand morphed back, as he caught her by the collar of her shawl, lifting her off the ground. When the two bird types attempted their attack there was a roar as the Charizard swooped down, knocking them out of the way before returning back to circling in the air above us.

"If you have a death wish, wait for your turn..."

The assailant lifted his left arm, punching Kinnie in the side of the head, knocking her to the ground, before facing William again. I couldn't help but flinch at the sound of her hitting the ground and wasn't sure she would get back up.

"You have ten seconds to leave this world, before I remove you from it." he said, as his arm morphed back into the glowing, cannon-like weapon, "That goes for all of you."

The head grunt smiles, as the rest of the grunts, cable-tie your hands behind your back, removing your Poketch, before escorting you to a nearby car. A four-wheel drive with a canvas roof, that looked like it belonged in the military.

"Now to go find your friends..."

The car takes off, heading west towards the city edge...

Amy watched in horror as the man approached William then proceeded to catch and knock Kinnie aside like she was a bag of sand. Amy wheezed, barely able to breathe as she lay on the ground. She wanted to try and attack. She wanted to try and protect her teammates. But she couldn’t will her legs to move. She patted the ground and felt some rocks underneath her fingers. Picking up a decent sized one, Amy chucked it in the man’s general direction.

“Leave him alone!” she wheezed as her vision began to close in on her. “Leave… him… alone…” Amy leaned her head against the rock she was braced on, wheezing and covering her eyes as she was obviously overwhelmed.

The bravest among them took to the field of battle, and were cut down one after another. There was something noble about self-sacrifice for the sake of buying time, but nobody was running. Maybe it was too late to run: if these guys had been tracked and found so easily by their enemies, and those enemies wielded such great firepower, then there was no way they could buy enough time to get back to a city, and no city they could possibly hide in. Still, in what seemed like a life-or-death battle, why did so many of these trainers hold back, or abstain from fighting?

William’s ears rang and his mind raced. In a fit of inspired brilliance, he concocted a plan. If they could make it to the tree line, the green trees would shield them from dragon-fire and gun-fire alike. They could split up and hide from this killer trainer, and the Charizard wouldn’t even fit between most of the trees! They just needed to buy enough time to get Sophie into the woods. It would be fine, if everybody followed their roles.

So first, William called on the Scout.

    "Ma-I mean, Pali,"
he called, straining his shrill voice over the roar of Fire and Fighting, "I need you to Scout a path through the treeline!" William pointed to the conifers that lined the route, then turned around to make sure she had heard him.

But what he saw dismayed him. Pali was too busy scrunching up her face at an older boy near Sophie. The older boy was trying to tend to Sophie’s wounds, but it just seemed like he was getting in the way of Tony, the designated Medic. Didn’t he know they had roles for a reason? This wasn’t the place to be administering soothing crčme – if Sophie stayed here, she would die, and not from the burn on her arm. She needed protection, not comfort, if he wanted to save her.

"I've done what I can!" Marina's whimper came from William's left, miraculously carried on winds already laden with embers.

"If your Pokémon are down, help Tony move the Leader! Tony, you gotta follow Matth—I mean Pali! Lose them in the trees!”

"Nieth, you’re the Analyst! How much more will it take to bring this thing down?”
"It looks about halfway down I'd guess. More than we have."

It was an honest estimate, but William knew they still had resources – the two older boys hadn’t battled yet. They probably wouldn’t like to be bossed around by a kid, but with Kinnie leading their tactics, they might be able to stall for long enough. Maybe.

"Kinnie, you're the Tacti-- WAIT a MINUTE, WHERE is Kinnie!? Aw DIGLETTS!" William turned to call for their Tactician’s help, but she was suddenly absent. Maybe somebody had had the sense to run. But with her missing, the chance of a coordinated strike like he’d seen on TV was slim to none.

The plan was falling apart before it had even begun. Weren’t these wormhole trainers supposed to work as a team?

The other boy stepped forward and released a Pokémon to attack Sophie. One trainer’s Pokémon had fought on their own, and all Sophie needed to do was to release hers, but this guy, with his dumb swoopy hair*, was holding her back. He even sent out a huge dragon of his own, but casually and with no urgency, like it was all a show to trick them. He had more Pokémon, but all he did was the bare minimum. With Sophie pinned down, she could neither escape, nor fulfilling her role.

The first guy was would have killed Sophie with negligence, blind stupidity. But this guy was gonna kill them all.

Hot plasma sublimated into the air off the end of their assailant's weapon, but William didn't see it. He had taken an uncomfortable landing on his shoulder, but he'd rolled with the momentum and managed to get his feet beneath his torso. He'd have thought it was really cool, in any other circumstance.

Tiny chunks of earth blown sky high now rained down, as the man with the gun strode toward them. Heavy footfalls suddenly stopped, and William looked up in time to see Kinnie flung to the ground, as if nothing she'd done even mattered.

No... This guy was gonna kill them all.

"You have ten seconds to leave this world, before I remove you from it."

William scrambled to his feet and grabbed for two Pokéballs from his belt. He wasn't going home - he had nowhere to go. But if he died here, he was sure his body would make a nice bed for Stinkhorns to grow.

"Listen!" William said to the man heating his arm-cannon, speaking with speed only a hyperactive youth full of adrenaline can muster. In his left hand he wielded a Pokéball, threatening to drop it and release the Pokémon inside. "this POKÉMON has a VIRUS that will KILL every PLANT and ANIMAL IN THIS WORLD!!" Simultaneously, he reached up and put his right hand directly into the glowing barrel of the blaster aimed at his face, fist curling around the other Pokéball. "And this Pokémon has used Harden a bunch of times, so like, you'll blow yourself up.

He clicked the button to enlarge the ball to baseball-size. His skin seared and stuck to the inside of the metal tube, but the shock of fear and adrenaline kept him numb.

Lowering his voice, William looked the shooter in the eye and continued, "If you really care about this world, you'll give us more time."

    @Desolate Divine
    [IF]
This guy looks like he's still going to blast us, William will click the button on his Pokéball again and release Turtwig inside the barrel of the weapon.

    GM Post @Truly

As you finish your ultimatum the assailant chuckles at you.

"Nice try kid." he says, not moving a muscle, "I have been following you since you arrived in this world, and you have not had this Pokemon use Harden recently enough that it would still be in effect."

"Besides, I may not know what Pokemon you have in there, but I do know this. There are only five species of Pokemon that would not be crushed if they were released in that barrel. Which mean that there is a 99.38% chance that whatever poor Pokemon you release in there will be crushed to death, before being vaporized instantly by the projectile." The assailant continues gesturing towards Sophie, "As for the infected Pokemon, well take a look at your friend over there."

You see the third degree burns covering most of her right arm.

"That is from being too close to the explosion. Had she been hit directly, she would have bee vaporized, as will that infected Pokemon." The assailant says, "So will you follow through with your bluff, and violently kill two of your own Pokemon, whom based on your age, are probably infants, just for a chance to escape yourself?"

As he says this, the inside of the barrel gradually begins to heat up, as if issuing a challenge.

With a screech, the birds Palila had sent were flung from the air.
    Thump.
They landed beside her in the dirt, and retreated into their Pokeballs.

Palila looked blurrily around, roused by the noise- she saw Kinnie get caught too, and heard the crunch of being punched in the head. This battle was rapidly getting out of control.
There was a slight noise of rocks, and Palila tilted her head.
Over to her left, and also on the ground, Amy seemed to be wheezing and having an asthma attack.
William was standing near the man, saying something.
There wasn't enough time to see what everyone else was doing.

Palila put her hand to her wrist, very slowly, hearing her own heart pounding in her head almost louder than the ambient noise. William was threatening something, saying something important? The assailant began a speech about crushing Pokemon, and vaporizing people.
Into her Poketch, she typed with as little movement as possible.

    Help
    R 203
    Ambush

    //send to all

Unfortunately, she had never used a Poketch to send a message before- only to receive.
So, she had clicked the most obvious button.

Her eyes flicked up instantly, as everyones Poketch's suddenly went off.
