Ever wanted to get your art on a Pokemon card?
If you live in Japan then you may have a chance! That is because the Creatures Inc and Pokemon are hosting a Pokemon Card Game Illustration Grand Prix.
The Pokemon Card Game Illustration Grand Prix contest allows artist to submit art that could be printed on a TCG card. The artist have to depict a fan favorite Pokemon in an environment or scenery of their choice. Possible ideas for scenery include cities, forests or even space. Some of these fan favorite Pokemon include Charizard, Pikachu, Slowpoke, Eevee, Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, Gardevoir, Metagross, Darkrai, and Solgaleo.
The artist’s work will be judged by Ishihara Tsuneaka (Pokemon Co., Ltd.), Hirokazu Tanaka (Creatures Inc.), Mikihiro Arita illustrator, Pokemon card game official illustrator, Saito Koki, Himeno Kazu Maru. It is worth noting that Creatures Inc. currently are the ones who create the cards for the Pokemon TCG.
If your art is chosen then there will be amazing prizes. First place will be rewarded 300,000 JPY (approx. $2,650 USD) and their art will be published on a card. Second place will be awarded 100,000 JPY (approx. $880 USD) and four runner ups will be given 50,000 JPY (approx. $440 USD). Even if you do not get awarded, Creatures Inc. is using this contest to keep an eye out on anybody they think could join their team of artists. This way anybody has a chance to one day provide art to a Pokemon TCG card.
Maybe the only downside is that the Pokemon Card Game Illustration Grand Prix is only open to those who live in Japan. If you do live in Japan and have the chance to enter then you have until March 31, 2019 to submit your entry.
Best of luck if you can enter! Hopefully we can see these fan submissions on cards soon!
