    Is this what we are going with for the final version of the skills then @Rival Max ? I just altered the wording slightly on some of those skills you had put forward.

    Brawler - Character focused on hand to hand combat and physical strength. This character type would also be able to use a weapon with training.
    (attributes: Physical Strength, Combat skills, Intimidation, Hand I coordination)

    Con Artist - Character focused on all aspects of deception. The character is charismatic, able to lie, disguise, persuade, and act.
    (attributes: Acting, Lying, using Disguises, and persuasion

    Cat Burglar - This character type is focused on theft and agility. The character would be fit and need to be able to move gracefully. This character uses stealth and patients.
    (attributes: Moving Unseen, Locking Picking, Pickpocket, and acrobatics.)

    Hacker- This character is tech savy. This character is a utility character that can hack technology, fix tech and even create their own.)
    (attributes: Hacking, Fixing, or Building computers and computer systems.

    Medic : The character knows about Pokemon and healing. Can help teammates with basic medical assistance.
    (attributes: Human medic, Pokemon partner medic, Pokemon knowledge

    The success of actions will be decided by a 100 sided dice roll, which Max will do himself. The appropriate skill modifier for your character will be added to the result of the roll, meaning if Max rolls a 32 and you have a +10 in the relevant skill, then your final result is a 42. If the final result is higher than the minimum required to pass, then you succeed at the action.

    Everyone will start with 8 skill points, and can gain more by successfully completing missions. You can apply these skill points to any skill you want. The maximum possible skill modifier is +75, but you can only have one skill with a modifier higher than +60.

    For every skill point you spend, you will gain a +5 to the chosen skill if your current skill modifier is under 30, or +3 if your current skill modifier is 30 or higher. This means that it would take 21 skill points total to reach the maximum skill modifier of +75.

    During the story, your character may become injured, either by losing a fight, or failing a high risk skill check. While injured, you have a -10 penalty to all rolls. This penalty lasts until the injury is treated by a character with the medic skill, or until your character takes a long rest. The exact nature of the injury can be role played, but the penalty is the same regardless.

    So, as an example, for Palilas starting skills;

    Brawler: 2 (+10)
    Con Artist: 2 (+10)
    Cat Burgular: 2 (+10)
    Hacker: 1 (+5)
    Medic: 1 (+5)

    Reasons being--- Palila has a background of playing rough in the streets (brawling, but not super high) as well as being quite chatty and convincing authorities not to put her in trouble (con artist, again, not super high). Acrobatics is a skill she has demonstrated in-game and in her history; knowing how to backflip, balance, surf, skate, etc. (So therefore, a few points in cat burgular).
    She has struggled with the technology of this region, but has managed to do some basic things while under pressure (a single point in hacker) and she has - in her profile- an immunity to and experience with poison, due to an experience with a tentacruel when she was young (a single point in medic).

    Will there be a way to influence the rolls with clever roleplaying?

    In Max's example, the options are to wait until morning or break into a building during the night. If a player sends a ghost pokemon to float through the wall and unlock a door, or a teleporting Abra to do the same, or opens the lock with a Klefki, will it add a bonus to the roll?

    What roll would it be, anyway?

    If the roll check is failed and the team is caught, can they then also make a Con Artist roll to talk their ways out of the situation (or roleplay for a similar result)?

    Will the chance for a roll always be presented as A or B, as in your example? As in, will we always have the choice whether or not to take an action that will lead to a roll? Or are rolls secret and inescapable?

    Max and I discussed that you can have a Pokemon help you with an action that requires a roll, but for the sake of simplicity you won't get a bonus for it. As far as something like using a ghost type Pokemon to go through a wall to unlock the door, that's a good question though. I would say something like that would just work since it's not really a skill, its just an ability that ghost types have. @Rival Max What do you think?

    I'm sure if we failed and were caught, If there was any way that we realistically could talk our way out of the situation, Max would let us try.

    for the last part I think Max will always present an option when there's a roll to be made.

    The pokemon wont be able to be used in the capacity truly asked about. The skill roll will encompass the action. So a pokemons success will be determined by the chaeacters skill.

    Lychee the skill is limited to one skill per player

    Also the use of the skills to comment a crime is where police get involved. players will have the option not to commit the crime. In the case of stealing stuff they want. There will be higher odds of getting caught for petty crimes

    Oh, now I'm confused!

    Are we only allowed to have a single skill group?
    So like, I have to dump all 8 points into Brawler or all 8 points into Tecchie, etc.?

    Now even I'm confused, because I had set this up with the intention that you could put points into more than one skill. I had even put in the thing about only being able to have one skill go above +60 so you'd have to pick one skill to be best at, but you could still be good at something else too. If that's not how you wanted it, then the whole thing needs to be changed again.

    It appears we had a different things in mind.

    I am limiting each person to a single skill grouping because i dont believe its realistic for a person to master multiple skills in a couple of weeks.

    Remember this is supposed to be simple. So you pick the skill group that works best for you and in the story youll have a chance to increase that.

    So Hmm, if we can each only pick one, based on peoples submitted profiles and the needs of a team, it's probably;

    Knuckles -> Brawler
    Oberon -> Con Artist
    Spectre -> Cat Burgular
    Luke -> Hacker
    Pat -> Medic

    And idfk what Palila should be!
    What skill set should we double up on?

    Then why even be pokemon trainers?

    The skill roll will encompass the action. So a pokemons success will be determined by the chaeacters skill.
    So Brawling with a Pokemon uses the player's skill and roll - like sending your charizard to bite someone's face off.
    Con Artistry with a Pokemon uses the player's skill -- this actually would allow for "Mind Control" and get around the issues there (since "Con Artist" is the social skill).
    Cat Burglar with a Pokemon -- like Klefki happening to have the right key for a lock, or a ghost type going through a wall to accomplish an otherwise difficult sneaking task.
    Hacking (I think this was the name of it?) or Technology maybe. You could do that with... idk, a porygon or a rotom? But maybe it also counts as mechanical, so fixing up a car, which could use Whirlipede, or a Magnezone serving as an engine, or even something like architecture? -- get a Gurdurr involved.
    Medic with pokemon - Traditional healer pokemon like Chansey, I guess, plus Pansage & Panpour lines?

    Nobody is mastering a skill UNLESS they put ALL of their skill points into a single skill (which is what you're suggesting) AND we get a skill increase nearly every day (which seems like extremely dense action)

    Remember this is supposed to be simple. So you pick the skill group that works best for you and in the story youll have a chance to increase that.
    If you want a simple system where each player has a specialty, you could use a tag-skill system where the tagged skill gets a set bonus to a roll... And not require Skill Ranks and Skill Bonus and not need the numbers to be out of 100. And since you're the only one who rolls or worries about those numbers... you could just have everybody tag a skill and you apply whatever bonus you think appropriate when you roll it, and we don't really need to see any of it.

    OR, if you ACTUALLY want us to each be specialists, then you just say that each character can only perform their specialty, but that they SUCCEED on it. Thus you only have the Hacker hacking, but you don't need to roll. This makes it simple: you remove the whole "ranking up" confusion.

    But then again, nobody is going to be/want to be the Healer, and it sounds like this is going to be very focused on the Cat Burglar skill, so whoever gets that will get to do the most skill rolls.
    Is that even going to be an issue? Hopefully, skill rolls will be very rare and it won't matter who has what skill. But this level of talk about it makes me worry that there will be a lot of skill rolls -- and that they'll be heavily disproportionate.

    Anyway, I've typed enough.

    tl;dr, just more whinging from me.
