"I'm all about vengeance. Or justice, but that's... I've got my eye on a couple 'innocent villagers,'" I make little air-quotes with my pincers, "my point is, whether you live or die, I intend to leave Salvage Keep better than when I arrived."

I try to give him a meaningful look, indicating I'm not talking about public works.

Then I'm headed to search Yellowback Lake. [edit: I messed it up and confused this with the Murky Pond. Please send me to Murky Pond -- otherwise, please disregard the stuff about the statue.]

Barring any danger, I'm going to try to topple Shila's statue. I know that's probably a long shot and it's pretty petty. But I think it'll mean something to Orin down the road. Call it a show of good faith.

    EDIT:
I personally don't have an issue letting him in (worst case we move HQ) but the others do. If we can both move him to a different location and keep him restrained there, I'll do that (maybe we need someone to Escort/Protect?)

My preferred destination is #54b Clutch of Decaying Houses: Collapsed House.

If we can only restrain him in our base, I'm willing to chance it.
You confront the Vivillion, giving him a cold, hard glare while he shrugs and looks away.

"I'm all about vengeance," you warn him coldly. "Or justice, but that's... I've got my eye on a couple 'innocent villagers.' My point is, whether you live or die, I intend to leave Salvage Keep better than when I arrived."

"That's great, kiddo," Orin replies. "Oh, I'm not being sarcastic, I actually hope you're right about that, but only time will tell. And so far it's been only getting worse by the minute."

You then move in closer and attempt to restrain the butterfly. You start with using your pincers to wrap leather belt buckles around him and he just sighs and stops you midway.

"No, no," he tells you, shaking his head. "Come on, not like that. Bind the appendages first, then the torso. And wrap them tight. Even if it hurts. This isn't a spa treatment, you want to keep them bound down fast and hard, not act like you're wrapping them as a birthday present. Here, let me show you."

He starts by covering the basics with you and slowly moves into more advanced material. As you soon realize, it's true, Orin's methods and the process of restraining Pokémon down is definitely not a friendly kind of treatment and you figure no Pokémon would ever appreciate having this done to them.

    SKILL UNLOCKED: RESTRAIN!
Note that this skill can only be used on Orin for now until a Holding Cell has been constructed.
    Spoiler:
    RESTRAIN: - 1 Action
Restrain can be used by any and all Emissaries to imprison any NPC. Now that the required structures have been built, any Emissary can Restrain an NPC by using one action. However, only one NPC can be restrained at a time due to the limited space and resources you have to help you contain them. If a Stalker is restrained at night and the RNG selects that Stalker to make a kill for the night, the Stalker will be unable to make a kill. Any NPC restrained this way has a permanent -1 rapport consequence to all future rapport checks, which can only be restored with <Diplomacy>. If the NPC was already in a Compliant state, they can last two cycles (one day and one night) before the Compliant state vanishes and the -1 rapport consequence kicks in. After being released from Restrain, the NPC with a -1 rapport score can be put into the Compliant state with Diplomacy regardless of whether or not they were previously.

    How to use:
Just say, "I would like to Restrain 36. Napkin the Meowstic."

"Remember, you might end up having to do this to a Stalker," Orin reminds you. "Well, another Stalker other than me. Let me tell you, they don't mess around and play nice. So if you really want to make sure they can't break out and go off killing again, do it right. The first time."

He then proceeds to show you some of the more advanced techniques, and you quickly learn that this rough and intimidating practice needs to be done with care, as you're quite sure giving this kind of treatment to an innocent Pokémon isn't going to win you any cool points with them. However, if in fact a Stalker is buckled down and kept contained, you definitely think it would be effective at keeping them under control no matter what kind of dark influence is coursing through their minds, driving them to attempt an escape and feed their hellish desire to kill.

"Guess what, graduate?" Orin tells you. "Despite everything I've taught you, this probably still isn't going to be enough. No, you're going to need an extra layer of security despite what you think. You're going to need a Holding Cell as well. Don't think of it as overkill. There's no such thing as that when it comes to dealing with... us. You've either got to prepare well and do it right or it's just not going to happen."

He then proceeds to use a torn piece of paper and a pencil to draw up a rudimentary holding cell design, using sketches with measurements and what kinds of components to use. You figure if he helped to found Salvage Keep, he likely knows his stuff when it comes to putting up structures. Once it's completed, he rolls up the paper and hands it over to you.

[Blueprints: Holding Cell] was handed over!

"Putting that together should take about five iron ingots," Orin informs you. "I'll at least try to cooperate, so you don't need that for me, but for anyone else you want to hope to use this on, you'd better use that. And don't skimp out on materials, either. It's supposed to be a jail, not an outhouse."

You mention that you intend to keep him secured at the collapsed house, as you don't trust him within the walls of the Emissary base. He shrugs and sighs.

"If it'll make you feel better, fine," he replies, not at all enthusiastic about this proposition. "For real though, when you build these cells, for all intents and purposes, keep them outside or in a tight and vacant spot inside. It's not like you need to put them in an area that requires you to give them the grand tour of the whole base if that's what you're concerned about."

After dragging the butterfly all the way to the collapsed house, he willingly lets you bind him up and keep him restrained.

#4 Orin the Vivillon has been Restrained until Day 5: Day

Once you finish, he actually grins a bit.

"Good, you remembered what I told you," he smirks from the confines of his bindings. "Nice to see practice still makes perfect."

For now, you watch over him, making sure he doesn't have the chance to perform anything grizzly while you keep your gaze locked on him. It seems strange and unsettling to think you may bear witness to Epsilon trying to drive his body to murder, but there's only a chance of that. Regardless, you still feel what must be done has been put into action here.

I will investigate the scene of the crime. Then, I will use Clairvoyance on the Large Tooth we have. As it came from our first kill, it might give us a lead.

Everyone has a dream that fills their heart. A journey they must take. A destiny to fulfill. As close as your imagination exists a magical place, where wondrous creatures with incredible powers help make dreams come true. It's the world of Pokemon!!"

    Meela-Tey! No!!
    Does everyone I battle die!?
Were the stalkers... watching me and Meela at Rusty Shine? Is it because she told me about the Butterfree- probably indulges first kill? Oh.. oh no.
I can't bear to look at the remains.
Someone else will have to do it.

Lillian will wash her tears away and go out to the rubbish tip. Theres a very non compliant alolan grimer out there who needs some diplomatic intervention in order to hand over a utopian relic.

Brahk, i'm sorry my friend scared you. Sometimes we're all a bit intense- we're under a lot of stress. You probably are too! We just.... really want the murders to stop- and we all need to band together and help each other to do that! You're important! Your help is so so valuable! Please, please. Talk to me. I'll stay at a distance if that makes you more comfortable.

I know the anti hygiene guild has an important input to society- would you at least tell me about that? What sorts of things has it been doing lately? Do you get along with that Furfrou from the barking guild? Hes a bit difficult, isn't he? I heard the merchant guild is having problems- did your guild get targeted by anything nasty?

Tell me about your home! I bet theres all sorts of interesting things in here- or possibly dangerous stuff. Do you like it there? What do you think of rusty shine units, or that fancy place golly owns? I heard trinket tower is nearly clear for the residents to move in again- do you know vex? She seems severe but I think she is probably soft on the inside. Does anyone live with you out here? ... do you get along with sebbit? I don't know what to think of him yet.

I heard there was an explosion out this way a few weeks ago and DeeMang got hurt- did you hear about it? Theres no explosions in your section of the tip are there? D: I have friends who can dismantle stuff if theres anything dangerous around, so let me know!

I also have friends who can maybe build stuff to make the stalkers go away... if you find anything that gives you a particularly good feeling, could you show it to me? It might be a valuable clue to defeating the evil in town.

Anyway, I'd love to stay and chat all day--
--you know what, actually I might!
A new friend of mine was killed last night and I need somewhere safe to cry. T_T Can I do it at your house? Does anyone come through there regularly?

Here goes nothing. I'd like to use Seinaru on that weird shadow at the Rotting Cottage.
Hey. Abyssal Umbreon. You're really persistent, huh? I'll give ya some cookies if you sit it out this round though.

Alright, let's... Untie Orin. We don't speak much. He knows it's not personal and I know he'll be back in the evening.

Then I'll put on my gloves and mask and go inspect the cadaver (Technical). Of all the Pokemon we know... What a damn shame.

After that, I'll wash up quickly... somewhere. Probably not Yellowback Lake, I've heard it's potable... And I'll go Interview Sebbit (Charming)

"Heya, Sebbit! We met for a second the other day.
Well, I'm here on business and for personal stuff. But let's get the business out of the way.

I uh, I have some traveling companions who really really wanted to do some scavenging, but I guess they got bored of the idea, 'cause apparently they never showed up. Now, I was hoping to pick this up already -- seems like it'd be a worthwhile skill, 'cause I'm not much of a chef, and I don't want to cut macroweeds all day -- gotta make money somehow, right? Anyway, point is you're the authority here, so if there's any place not worth scav'ing, or off-limits, or any really good tricks, you'll tell me. Right?

Ok, second order: I need to conduct an investigation on the Rusty Shine units and the people inside. Not that anybody's in trouble, but like, my companions, in their infinite wisdom, have decided to deal with all the upper class snooty types. And listen, I know there's a problem with Sway but that's not part of my investigation. Help me out with the gossip around here. What's the news?

So, now the personal business: I'm thinking of sticking around. I was hanging out with Dee'mang -- I've taken a special interest after what I've heard, it sounds like he's had it rough. And, well, what's your opinion of Samba? I'm not sure she's ready to have a chick -- but beggars can't be choosers. I'm not committing to anything just yet, but tell me about the Pokemon in Dee'mang's life. And what's your relationship to him?

I guess the last thing is, is there anybody you think could be a Stalker? There's been some heat on Pakson, what do you think of him?"

There's a lot to do, but my training tells me not to remain too focused with what is right in front of me. I will trust my fellows to deal with the current situation. Meanwhile I shall take a trip to the Delta Den and apply my steel type capabilities to search the strangely hidden side-bag we found there previously. It seems to have been forgotten with everything else going on.

"Ah, another presence like Oen Aglome... took you long enough to show up." he mutters to himself.
He had a bit longer before he would see Vex again, and the Tower was cleared. So he would have to occupy himself somehow...
And that was how he decided to learn Forge. He hammered away on real metal with invisible tools on an invisible anvil, unsettling his teacher but entertaining himself as he made a simple pair of trinkets - two necklaces, each with a charm at their apex of two circles locked in a seemingly impossible way, one of green and dark purple gem, and the other of a pink and black stone. He refused to confess where his material came from, because it was a small shard of his power - once Vex put it on, he could follow her soul to the Depths and bring it back safe, should the unthinkable happen.
At the same time, he took the chance to make a basic Dagger, for that slot in that statue that SOMEONE would get to stab eventually.

As the new day arises, you head to Yellowback Lake, not sure what to expect, but you brace yourself for the worst. Knowing how the Stalkers behave, you highly doubt Meela-Tey perished in peace...

When you first arrive at the lake, it takes you some time to locate the body, but when you do, you find the Armaldo lying face down in the mud just along the bank. Her plated body is wet and slathered with what looks and smells like mustard-colored bile. It causes you to gag a bit, making you have to back away and keep a few feet of distance.

Scattered around her lying around in the mud and dirt seems to be strange and unidentified globs of foreign matter, but even after looking closely, it still doesn't make sense as to what these are. But one thing is definitely certain. It smells beyond awful. You make a note of all this, but it still seems a bit inconclusive as to what really happened here.

Regardless, it's a mess. You decide to head back to base to move onto something else, happy in inhale fresh clean air again. Well, at least mostly clean.

Once back at base, you find the Large Tooth within the Emissary cabinets. It's a fairly sizeable incisor, but it gives off a distinct, demonic aura that makes you shiver a bit. You decide to make yourself comfortable, placing the tooth before you as you sit upon your bed.

It's a bit of a challenge to use your Clairvoyance power on the tooth due to its grim nature trying to distract you from your focused attention, but you allow your resilience to strengthen you and drive the distraction away. You remind yourself that you are strong, and that this tooth cannot hurt you and has no influence on your thoughts. You clear your mind, flush away the darkness, and allow the vision to lead you.

Ironically, the vision takes you back to where you were just moments ago... as if reality was rewinding back in time. It's as if you trace your way back, back the way you came, back to...

    Yellowback Lake...

It takes you back to the same place where you found Meela-Tey's body... but further beyond that. You find your vision leading you toward the southern side, where a small Cluster of Huts are just along the side of the lake... silent... dark... waiting... The vision guides you into one of them the way a parent guides the motions of a child, but it does not prepare you for what you see next...

For a flash of an instant, you behold a dark carving, a sigil of undoing. You see a gaping opening, a twisted schism... a place for this tooth. You feel a sudden presence of dread, but it soon comes to an end.

You awake from your vision, realizing this tooth isn't just a vessel for infernal presence...

...it's a key to something darker...
