Because Black Lives Matter.
Early in June, Pokemon announced that they will donate at the minimum $5 millions dollars to various nonprofit organizations to children around the world. They are doing this alongside Niantic to help support the Black Lives Matter movement in light of recent events. Together, the organizations have promised to donate over $10 million dollars.
Now, Pokemon has announced the list of organizations that they will be making their donations to. All of these organizations have dedicated countless hours to make the lives better for children of all ages in the Black community.

  • Ardoch
  • Black Girls Code
  • Boys and Girls Club of Canada
  • Plan International
  • Save the Children
  • Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust
  • The Trevor Project
  • UNICEF
  • World Vision

Below is what Pokemon had to say on the matter.
The Pokémon Company group’s donation will benefit charitable nonprofit organizations around the world that improve the lives of children, which is a key pillar of the Pokémon brand’s global philanthropic efforts now and in the future. A large portion of the organizations receiving funds from this donation were chosen due to their focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. As part of The Pokémon Company group’s ongoing commitment to the Black community, this includes organizations supporting education and mentorship opportunities for Black children.
All funds will be donated after Pokemon GO Fest 2020 which is currently set to be from July 25th to 26th. Pokemon has promised that more organizations will be added to the list once they have been confirmed.
Once again, Pokemon has shown that they are dedicated to trainers of all kind. Together we can become Pokemon Masters.
