A new short time event has begun in Pokémon Sword and Shield!

The Wild Area has shifted in Pokémon Sword and Shield. With this, a special event featuring the Pikachu family begun. It also has a slot featuring shiny Pikachu, giving it an 8% chance to appear in 5 star raids. This event runs until August 9th at 23:59 UTC. All tiers have the same Pokémon appearing, with Pichu, Pikachu, Raichu, and Alolan Raichu appearing in every tier. Interestingly, the shiny Pikachu appearing in the 5 star raids is not the only rare appearance, as Mimikyu also has a one percent chance of appearing in every raid tier.
It is believed that this event is meant to tie into the annual Pikachu Outbreakchu that usually occurs in Yokohama every year. During to the current state of the pandemic, this event does not appear to be taking place this year, so this event in Pokémon Sword and Shield will act as a pseudo replacement for the event. In this way, it makes it even more special, as fans around the world are now able to celebrate without being present in Yokohama for the event.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s get out there and catch those chus and kyus!
