Before Alice could respond, I noticed shaking in the bushes nearby. Without saying anything, I let Circut out of his Pokeball. His tail glowed brightly. It had been at least a week since his last battle, so he would be fully charged.

Suddenly a Pidgey flew out of the bushes. Now was my chance to catch it.

Moon turned away from the scene she'd been observing and faced the guy who had addressed her. She'd stood next to him in the lab, which felt like a long time ago now, despite only having been earlier in the day.

"Yes, it has been an eventful day," the brunette paused for a moment, and then contained. "It does not appear to be quieting, either."

After leaving the spot that she had been sitting, Vi let out Cobalt and Charles for a little walk. Charles ignored her though, and went to sleep on a tree stump in front of her. Simply rolling her eyes, Vi returned the lazy bum to his Pokeball. As she walked with the little Aron, she talked to it very casually. "So, you ever have trouble finding yourself, Cobalt?" Knowing that it wouldn't be able to give a full response, she was happy to just hear the cheer of "Ron!"

She was quickly caught off by a Pidgey, which tried threatening her off of its territory. Vi responded quickly, "Cobalt, tackle the Pidgey!" Cobalt followed suit. attacking with strength and dominance. After a few hits. Vi threw her Pokeball at the Pidgey.

Brandon was trying to make small talk with little success when a pidgey landed in front of him. Brandon nodded to Skipper chas it away or take it down, his choice. Skipper whipped a wheel of flames and launched them at the pidgey. The Pidgey fainted.

Suddenly Skipper began to transform... Brandon said "Skipper! Are you evolving?"

After walking with Meghan for a bit, Max suggested they all battle. The idea sounded good to rose. She was hoping that Max would pair her up to battle Meghan. He didn't though. Instead she got paired up with Moon. That was okay with her, even though she was nervous. Still though, as she approached Moon, she began to find herself more and more afraid. Maybe it wasn't so okay with her.

"Y-You're Moon, right?" Rose asked in a soft quiet tone. "M-M-" She stuttered, trying to get the word out she paused for a second, slightly embaresed. Why was she having so much trouble? "Max paired us up to battle?"

After Brandon's battle with the kids (in which he was soundly beaten), everyone continued along.

Zenith smiled as Max asked her about all of them having battles. "Yeah, I'm totally up for that! Sounds like fun!" she said.

As they walked along, Zenith saw the others forming into groups and talking. She wished she could think of something to talk about with the others. She had kept herself away from people for so long that it was awkward trying to talk about much of anything. I wish I could get over being so nervous.... but I guess that won't happen overnight, she thought.

Zenith looked up at the canopy of Viridian Forest as she walked beside Max. "You know, Viridian Forest reminds me a lot of Santalune Forest back in Kalos. They house tons of Pokemon, and the plantlife is beautiful. I loved going there on camping trips with just my dad or the rest of my family."

As the group stopped, Max made a list and called out, "I got something!"

Zenith looked at the list, and saw that she had been put up against Rocky. "Rocky huh?" she said.

Zenith smiled and walked over to Rocky. "Looks like we've been paired off against each other," she said. "Good luck," she added, holding out her hand.

"Scientists?" Ethan asked. He seemed a bit surprised. "That is awesome! What did they specialize in? I study Pokemon Mythology and Physics at Goldenrod University, so I know my stuff about Pokemon that people don't really know exist. However when it comes to my own, I am slightly clueless," he said.

Alice smiled, "Well..."

Before she could say anything, Ethan had reached for a Pokeball and sent out a Mareep. Suddenly a wild Pidgey appeared from a nearby busy. It was a quick battle and Ethan caught it without much trouble.

"Wow, nice," Alice said. "Your Mareep is fantastic! But yeah, my father studies Pokemon fossils and my mother works on Pokemon development. I studied Pokemon genetics and development in Lumiose, actually. But I'm starting to learn that there's no substitute for actually journeying with Pokemon. I've already learned so much! Anyway, it's nice to meet a fellow scholar! Pokemon mythology sounds amazing! Do you have any favourite stories?"

Max called out, "I got something!" he said to the group, and began reading out a list of match ups. "Alice vs Ethan" was first on the list.

Alice looked at Ethan. "Looks like we're battling... how convenient," she laughed. Her Shuppet still bobbed around her head like some strange accessory. Javelin was in a nearby treetop. She returned all of her Pokemon so that they would be ready to be sent into battle. "I'm not really sure about this," she admitted truthfully, "But we'll give it out best shot. Good luck Ethan!"

Alice walked a little further out from the group to give them enough room to battle. She picked up Fervor's Pokeball. She had overheard Rocky speaking to one of the children from earlier, who had suggested that the best way to vent a Mankey's energy was through battle. Maybe afterwards, Fervor would be calm enough for her to tame. She hoped this would work...
