The group began to move and very soon had made it to route 11. They had made it out without any conflict so far, he hoped it would remain that way. Seconds later though he realized he had thought too soon as they startled a group of wild Rattas. They began to attack the group, as one of the rat pokemon bared its teeth and growled at him. Brandon couldn't help but almost chuckle, he reached for Riolu's pokeball and then pressed the button. As the light from the ball flashed and Riolu was being released, Brandon said loudly "Riolu, I choose you!".

A second later Riolu was out of his ball and looked as around, when he saw the Ratta he growled and made a combat ready motion. Then the hyper little Ratta let out a screech and began running full speed at Riolu, he made a chopping motion, of which made it clear his move was going to be bite. Brandon shouted to Riolu "Watch the bite buddy". Riolu already seemed to know it was going to be bite as well. As the Ratta leaped and for the bite, Riolu held out one arm in a blocking motion, the Ratta was already in the air and had no way to counteract, as he got close to Riolu, Riolu swung his other arm at the Ratta, the Ratta came flying at Riolu's 1 arm and was knocked to the ground by Riolu's follow up swing. As the Ratta hit the ground head first, it weakly tried to stand back up, but was too weak and the effort of trying to do so made it faint. Riolu's 1 arm had suffered a couple minor scratches from where a couple teeth from the Ratta scraped him, but other then that, he was fine.

Getting out of the city on the route to Lavender made for a restful break. Rocky was enjoying the break when a group of Rattata jumped out. They reminded him of Speedy and he wondered how his Rattata was doing.

"Hello little Rattatas" he said reaching out to pat one of the Rattata.

The Rattata however was not friendly and snapped at Rocky and then growled and got ready to attack.

"Kick-Puncher, get out here!" Rocky said releasing his Primape.

Kick-Puncher looked at the Rattata and smiled.

"Thank you!" Alice called after the man as he walked away. She gave Rocky a small grin.

"An earthquake? Just our luck," she said to the group. "At least we can still get through. We better keep an eye out though, it sounds pretty dangerous."

Alice headed past the men fixing the wires, giving them a wide berth, and continued down the path. She was starting to feel pretty tired. It had been a really long day.

Alice flashed Rocky a victorious grin and Rocky rolled his eyes. Was it all electrical workers and trainers? Did the electricity make them jerks?

Everything happened so suddenly. One second they were going to fight Surges, the next Meghan was gone and they were on their way out of town. She was almost relieved that she wouldn't have to fight Surges yet. She still needed to train more.

Rose sensed one of the rattata moving in the bushes next to her. Quickly, she jumped back and released her own rattata.

Rose giggled at this.

After the encounter with the Rattas, the group continued down the path until they were stopped by a workman who was helping to repair power lines. Alice and Rocky did the talking, while Brandon silently hung back observing, one hand clutched to a pokeball on his belt, just in case. The encounter ended without incident though and the group prepared to continue on.
