After his pokemon stopped glowing and his pokemon adoring their newfound strength... (which included Manky flexes his muscles and then jumping up and down happily... Pidgey hovered in the air with his stronger wings and looked down and his sharper claws and sung with his stronger, sharper beak), Brandon walled to the gym... took a deep breath then walked in for the battle. He withdrew all pokemon back to their pokeballs except Manky and Pidgey, the rest would not be allowed to be used and will not be used. He took a deep breath looked at his two pokemon and approached Brock the gym leader.

Rocky looked at his watch. The gym opening hours were almost over. Taking one last look at the outskirts of Viridian forest, he decided to head back into the city and see how the others had down in their gym battles.

He walked through the market district and Speedy started chattering, "Rattata, tata, ratt", as they passed a shop selling cheese, but Rocky told him that he had to wait until dinner time. A couple of Blocks later Rocky looked around and found the Rattata eating a big wheel of cheese. With a sigh he sent Giles a message, instructing him to head to the cheese shop and pay for the cheese. Speedy didn't look the least bit guilty and managed to eat the entire cheese wheel.

Arriving back at the gym, Rocky saw that the last of the trainers were finishing off their battles so he went into see the Gym's other facilities. He found a rock weight lifting set and spent some time lifting weights alongside Kick-Puncher. Rusty, Fury and Speedy meanwhile played on the 'dodge-rock' court. Mostly it was just Fury and Rusty throwing rocks at Speedy as the Rattata dodged them with ease.

After the exercise session Rocky went for a jog through town with his Pokemon following him trying to keep up. Except for Speedy who kept zooming off in front and then running back to see why everyone else was taking so long, and then zooming off again. By the end of it Rocky was in that happy exhausted state of mind that he used to get after an intense game of football, back at school.

He stopped at a cafe and ordered a meal for himself and his Pokemon. Amazingly, despite the entire wheel of cheese that Speedy had polished off earlier, he still ate as much as the other three Pokemon combined.

"Sure," Alice said, when Max asked her to come along. He was being very mysterious.

Alice returned Citrus to his Pokeball, while Aster and the resting Pichu followed behind. Alice couldn't tell if Aster liked having the Pichu riding on him, but he didn't complain.

"Congrats on the gym battle." Max said.

"Haha, thank you," Alice replied. "It was pretty nerveracking. Aster really came through for me though," she said, smiling at her Ivysaur.

"Saur," Aster grinned proudly.

"So are you on some secret mission?" Alice asked Max, only half joking.

"Yeah kinda " Max said when Alice asked if it was a secret mission. "Looking into something for a friend."

Max was giving little detail and Alice didn't like to pry, so she said no more about it. "I never thought I'd be able to do anything like beat a Gym Leader. I never even considered becoming a trainer until I learned how important journeying is for learning about Pokemon."

"Where were you heading before we ran into each other?" Max asked next.

"I was really hoping to see the museum but it's been closed all day." Alice frowned. "There are supposed to be fossils from Kanto in there. My dad used to go there often when we lived in Viridian. I was hoping to see it for myself."

Max stayed silent for a moment. The museum wasnt safe right now and he needed a way to say it but not worry her.

"The museum is closed for the day." Max said.
" Something odd is doing on here in Pewter. Just stay close to me. I dont want to worry you but if we find something I want you to fall back." Max said continuing down the street. When the Poketech building was finally in site he paused.

Max pressed the button starting up the the Upgrade Unit.
"I need you to swap out Prime and upload Rotom." Max said.

A moment later the screen flashed.
*The swap was successful...sir..* Upgrade said



Rotom appeared jumping all around.
"Conduct.." Max said in a stern voice.
"Jump into the power lines and follow through the entire building. Upgrade needs information.. Be careful!" Max said cautiously letting the little ghost type jumping the wires and disappear.

"That one can be trouble." He paused

" Something triggered three silent alarms here in Pewter. Some times you get a false alarm but normally just one. I need to check out the buildings." Max said trying to explain.

Upgrade appeared again and the blue prints of the building appeared.


Meanwhile.

Rocky stopped for something to eat. As he his pokemon was eating a man approached him.


" Mind if I join you." Byron said.

"Mind if I join you." a familiar voice asked. Rocky looked up in surprise to see his mentor from Canalave pull up a seat.

"Mr Byron, Sir. It's good to see you." he said standing to shake the Gym leader's hand.

"Aron, Ron Ron Aron!" yelled Rusty as she raced to rub herself affectionately on Byron's leg. Byron had bred Rusty specifically as a parting gift for Rocky before he left on his Pokemon journey. She had a lot of affection for her original trainer.

Rocky had a lot of questions ."What bring's you to Kanto? Who is looking after the gym?" Then a horrible thought struck him. "You are alone aren't you? Breanna didn't come with you did she?" Rocky's short but intense relationship with Byron's right hand ace trainer, as well as the bitter break-up, was still fresh enough that he really hoped she was not here.

Max told Alice that the museum was closed for the day, then asked her to stick close by, but fall back if they found something. She nodded. It seemed like a very serious situation. Aster stiffened by her side, ready to protect his trainer.

Max sent out a Rotom and sent it into a nearby building to gather information. When it appeared, Pichu woke up; she could sense the current in the air. She jumped off Aster's back and onto Alice's shoulder.

When Max told her about the silent alarms, Alice started to feel a little nervous. She clenched her fists, determined not to seem afraid in front of Max. She watched silently as the Rotom returned. Max wanted to check out the buildings. Alice looked up at the large building in front of them. It looked perfectly normal from outside. She hoped it was all a false alarm, but something fluttered in her stomach, and her intuition told her to be wary. She looked up and down the street.

"If there's anything I can do, just let me know," was all Alice said. Max seemed to be concentrating and she didn't want to interfere.

"She seems stronger than the last time I saw her. What kind of food are feeding her?" He paused

"Breanna is taking care of Gym for a couple of days. I am actually here looking for you." Byron smiled.

"Do you have a minute to talk ?" He continued.



Meanwhile

Alice and Max found a spot to hangback. Rotom jumped into power lines and Upgrade traced its energy signal through the building. Max stayed silent for a few minutes while the blue prints finished uploading.

" Sorry." Max said realizing he hadnt responding properly.

" I noticed your reaction to Tyrunt and based on what you just said I have a friend I think you should meet. He loves fossil pokemon too. He is a friend from Kalos." Max paused.


*Sir, the readings are finished.* Upgrade said.

*It would appear that intruders triggered alarms here, here and here.*

As he spoke a layout of the building appeared. Red circled flashed in those areas.

*However security cameras show no sign of the intruders currently.* Upgrade

" Well, lets check out the last location. Put it up on the map."

"We have one last place to check out.." He said looking at Alice.
