INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the official WAR Season II Information and Links Thread!

If you're new to the WAR and are joining us for the first time, I'd like to personally give you a warm, friendly welcome to this community's best and longest-running competition event. Here, you will find all the information you need to get started and well-acquainted with the WAR. Also, if you're already a veteran of the WAR, this is the place where you can find all the links, dates, and information in one easy package.

Just note, not everything has been announced, and some dates and times are to be announced (TBA) at a later time. We'll fill those in once we determine when those dates are. Hang tight, they're coming!

WHAT IS THE WAR?

The WAR (Worldwide Arena Rivalry) is a team-based competition event held during every summer where teams of members compete in various sections such as art, writing, URPG, and RP for points, very similar to the Summer and Winter Olympics, but with an overall winner. In these sections, entry submissions or performances are submitted, judged, and the best of the best are awarded points for their team on a weekly basis. At the end of the WAR, the team with the highest number of points is declared the winner.

The original idea for the PE2K WAR was conceived by Bashaamo back in 2003 on the original PE2K Proboards forum, although many PE2K members have been attributed to its continued success and interest throughout the years, including HKim, ElimN8, Homura, [Fair], Lord Celebi, Dr Scott, Pokémon Trainer Sarah, Shadow Tracker Max, Saraibre Ryu, and Neo Emolga (Yep, that's me!). The WAR has been hosted every year, starting on PE2K and has found a new home on PXR after the closure of the PE2K forums. Meanwhile, the WAR has been changing and evolving throughout time to meet the interests of PXR veterans and newcomers alike.

We hope that you'll be joining us for many fun times, great memories, and to be a winning part of this community's greatest summer tradition!

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

In order to join in on the WAR, you need to be a part of a WAR team. To identify a WAR team from the other regular clubs in this board, look for the [WAR] prefix in the thread title.

There are two ways to approach joining the WAR. The first and foremost is to browse each of the WAR Teams on your own and see which one you like the most and fits your style and/or has members you're more familiar with. Each team has their own sign up form, so simply just follow the instructions and fill it out accordingly.

But if you're not sure what WAR Team to join or you would like a little guidance, we have the new WAR Season II Free Agent Central area to help guide you toward finding a great WAR team to be a part of that matches your team desires and draws Team Leaders toward recruiting you based on your skills.

And you're definitely welcome to make your own WAR team! If you're interested in creating a WAR Team, check out WAR Season II Team Applications. The rules for creating a WAR Team and applying to become an official WAR Team are pretty basic and easy to follow:

• The team needs to comply with all PXR rules. Easy cheesy.
• The team needs to acquire at least five members (including the leader) before it can be recognized as an official WAR team. This is just so we don't have too many crazy one-man army teams going into this!
• The team needs to have some kind of theme, goals, and objectives (in case it takes part in the WAR Role Play, more details in this later). Is it a team of good guys, nefarious bad guys, dudes that like using Water Pokémon, and/or a team that prefers the cover of night and darkness? Let your imagination rock and roll!

That's pretty much it!

WHO ARE THE "WAR LEADERS?"

WAR Leaders are the heads and overseers of the WAR, deciding on starting dates, section judges, event planning, and making sure the WAR runs smoothly by resolving any issues that might come up along the way.

The WAR Leaders of WAR Season II are Saraibre Ryu, Lord Celebi, Lightning Dash, and Neo Emolga (that's me!). If you have any questions, concerns, need help, or just want to say hi, feel free to reach out to any of us. We're all friends here. :)

WAR SEASON II SECTIONS

WAR Season II: Role Play (Judge: bronislav84)
As the highlight section of the WAR, team members immerse themselves into the epic and climatic story line of the WAR Role Play, where the teams become alive and their themes, their ideals, and their goals take on a life of their own within the role play’s setting and story line. In the WAR Role Play, you create a character to help accomplish your team's goals and rise up to win victory for you and your team.

WAR Season II: Creative Writing (Judge: Neo Emolga)
For those with strong creative writing skills, follow the weekly theme and format provided by the Judge and write your literary masterpiece as an essay, short story, poem, or other form of literature. Typically not Pokémon related, although it can be.

WAR Season II: Humor (Judge: Lord Celebi)
Enjoy making people laugh? Think you got jokes? Come join in WAR's funniest competition. The humor section is exactly what it sounds like, so take some time looking into the weekly theme and do your best to get a chuckle out of the judge and your competitors!

WAR Season II: Drawn Art (Judge: Corrupt_Voidlich)
WAR Drawn Art is the art arena for those skilled with creating freehand drawings and character-created images where special program-created rendering, filters, or other special effects are excluded. Images may be drawn on paper and then scanned, or drawn using a computer program, as long as it is clear no special effects were used in the creation of the final art.

WAR Season II: Graphic Art (Judge: XaiakuX)
WAR Graphic Art is the area for computer program-created art like Photoshop, Gimp, Paint Shop Pro, or other similar program. Here, you're allowed to go all out with your art submissions, as long as you're not plagiarizing someone else's creation.

WAR Season II: Pixel Art (Judge: Speed-X)
WAR Sprite Art involves the creation of pixel-based art like the character sprites used in Pokémon and other various video games. Like the other art sections, WAR Sprite Art will be based on a theme provided by the Judge.

WAR Season II: Showdown (Judge: Saraibre Ryu)
Using Pokémon Showdown, a Pokémon battle simulator, build your team and compete with rival team members to rise to top of the competitive online battling arena. (Showdown will be on a week to week basis so if the activity remains good there will be a new themed tournament each week!)

WAR Season II: GCEA (Gotta Catch 'Em All) (Judge: Shadow Tracker Max)
The newest edition to WAR is also one of the most unique. GCEA's War Contest will be based around the creation and story of your original character! It will involve everything from drawing, to a short story, to a GCEA Battle at the end! Come join in this story game's unique contest.

WAR Season II: URPG (Ultra Role-Playing Game) (Judge: swiftgallade46)
Step into the arena of PXR's URPG by raising Pokémon, preparing them for battle, and claiming victory. The team that has the best collective performance for the judging period will be given points.

WAR Season II: ASB (Anime-Style Battling League) (Judge: Elbub)
A fan of ASB's battling style? Who isn't? This year's ASB will focus on Pokémon Contests as opposed to Pokémon battles.

SUBMISSION PERIODS

The 2015 WAR Season II will last four weeks long.

WAR Sections are judged and moderated on a week-by-week basis, which means you have four weeks to win as many points for your team as possible. And hey, if you didn't win anything in the first week, you've got plenty of more chances. It's not over 'till it's over!

Here is the breakdown of the submission and judging period based on the day-by-day basis of each week:

MONDAY (12:00AM EST) through FRIDAY (11:59PM EST) - This is the standard submission period. This is when participants will submit entries and participate in the section's activities.
SATURDAY (12:00AM EST) through SATURDAY (11:59PM EST) - "Last minute" submission period. Judges are allowed to judge the past week's activities and post results now, but participants can still "sneak" in a last minute submission if they post it before the section is judged. But, if the judge posts the results for the week, it's too late. Yeah, it's kind of like shopping on Christmas Eve. XD
SUNDAY (12:00AM EST) through (SUNDAY 11:59PM EST) - "Final Judging" period. The week is done and no more submissions for the past week can be made. When the judge posts the results for the past week and puts up a new theme or resets the scoreboard, submissions for the next week begin. Good luck!
