Today we are going to wish a happy four year anniversary to WhirlCast!
On January 21st, WhirlCast celebrated their 4th anniversary as a podcast. The podcast has been though many hands, had many names and has gone though many changes but it still stay constant in providing Pokemon news and entertainment. WhirlCast started off as a podcast to talk about a Pokemon MMO but has since evolved to talk about Pokemon and Nintendo. They have recently started to have a lot more interviews with Pokemon content creators.
Illus took over the show in 2012 as a small little hobby but this hobby has evolved into something much more. He has led the podcast with many co-hosts and together they have formed a radio station with the blessing of Masuda. They have only just begun as the show is ever evolving to match the changing atmosphere that Pokemon is always going through. This comes from their many years of adapting to a changing fanbase so this should be no different.
In honor of WhirlCast’s 4th anniversary, we spoke with Illus and the WhirlCast crew to find out their top five episodes from the last four years. They decided to spotlight at least one episode from the last few years. That way you can see how the show has evolved throughout the years. They even provide a few reasons why they choose each episode. So make sure to give these episodes a listen!
Episode 67: Fight Night
Fight Night was an interesting episode for us as it showed off what were capable of truly doing as a Podcast.In a sense, it showcased what kind of Podcast we were. Not only that but, this was the first episode we did after loosing Mikey57 and Soty from our team. We always like to find news ways to talk about gaming and Pokemon, so this episode shows it possible to do that while still keeping in tact to what you are.
Episode 62: The Halloween Episode 2015
During the holidays, we enjoy to do special things for our show. The team thought it would be really cool to write stories dedicated to Halloween. That’s exactly what we did. One of our traditions from back in our Pokemon Mystery Universe days was something I called “Summer Fest”. We’d do big shows with tons of people and if possible, even do interviews. This was our first stepping out our hole and show casing what was possible from a Pokemon Podcast. I was joined by Mikey57, and MasterShadowNinja for my co-hosts. This episode featured five remixers from the community in which we interviewed back to back in a three hour special. This is the only show we have to show you that is from our PMU days.When Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire was announced, we did a big discussion episode. It was planned briefly and we did an hour long discussion about what we wanted from the brand new games at the time.
