Introducing Pokemon: Type Wild!

Pokemon: Type Wild is a fan-made Pokemon fighting game in the style of Street Fighter. Whilst a Pokemon/Tekken crossover has already been announced for Japan, which has Pokemon fans everywhere boarding hype trains, there is no official Western release date for “Pokken Tournament” yet. But this may just quench the appetite, if only for a little while.

The game uses a standard fighting game mechanic, in that you press certain buttons to get certain Special attacks. The difference seen here from what we’ve seen so far from Pokken is that we’ve only seen Fighting Type Pokemon shown off in the Pokken trailer, which featured Machamp and Lucario (which was indeed cool, yes) but in Type Wild, you can choose from many more characters like Gardevoir, Swalot, Gengar, and even everyone’s favorite sleeping road block, Snorlax.

To keep things interesting, a Pokemon, as in the games, is left with PP, and can learn the same moves as in the game. (For example, a Gengar can learn Shadow Ball or Sucker Punch)

After you start the game, you’re tasked with beating Pokemon from around the world, such as a Breloom. Despite many features being a little thin, (the article from Kotaku about the game says that somehow it looks as if the developers may’ve abandoned it at some point) it still looks fun, and even a bit nostalgic as well, with the use of 2D sprites instead of the new 3D ones in the newest main games.

You can find out more about the game from Kotaku, who also has a download link for the game so you can try it yourself.
