There are plenty of new things to see in the latest Let’s Go news update!
Plenty of new information about Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee came out today. This includes the reveal of Exclusives Moves for Pikachu & Eevee, Secret Techniques, benefits of befriending your Partner Pokemon, Celadon City and a new Switch bundle!
Exclusive Moves for Pikachu & Eevee
One of the features in Let’s Go allows you to build a relationship with your Partner Pikachu or Eevee. Once that relationship has reached a certain level then your Partner Pokemon can preform special exclusive moves. These moves will depend on which Pokemon you have. You can use these special moves when your Partner Pokemon send a sign during battle that its Partner Power is ready to preform their special move.
Pikachu will be able learn Pika Papow and Splishy Splash. Pika Papow works similar to Return but as an Electric attack. The power of Pika Papow will depend on how high the relationship level is between Pikachu and you. Pikachu can also preform Splishy Splash. This is a Water type attack that will leave the opponent’s Pokemon paralyze. This attack could be a call back to Surfing Pikachu.
Eevee will be able to learn four special moves in the form of Veevee Volley, Bouncy Bubble, Buzzy Buzz, and Sizzly Slide. Veevee Volley is an attack where the power depends on Eevee’s relationship with the player. Bouncy Bubble is a Water type attack that heals Eevee for half the damage dealt to the opponent. Buzzy Buzz is an Electric type attack that paralyzes the opponent. Lastly, Sizzly Slide is a Fire type attack that will burn the opponent’s Pokemon. These attacks could be a reference to the Pokemon that Eevee can evolve to in Generation 1.
The ability to use these special moves seems similar to how Z-Moves work in Alola.
Your Partner Pokemon can build up Partner Power when it isn’t battling during a battle. When enough Partner Power has been gathered then it will send a sign. If you respond to it then it will send that Partner Power to the Pokemon in battle. This power will then give a boost to that Pokemon’s stats.
Pikachu and Eevee can preform Secret Techniques that will help you during your journey. These techniques will allow you to cut down trees, surf over water and fly to places quickly. When your Partner Pokemon learn these Secret Techniques then it will be able to preform these attacks outside of battle but will not take up a moveslot.
The Secret Technique to clear small trees is called Chop Down. If you wish to surf over water then your Partner Pokemon can use Sea Skim. Lastly, if you want to travel to cities and places that you have already been to then you can use Sky Dash.
It looks as if Secret Techniques will be replacing HMs in Let’s Go. These techniques seems to be similar to PokeRides from Alola.
Benefits of Befriending!
If you befriend your Partner Pokemon then there are some special perks!
You can play with your Partner Pokemon to build up your relationship with them. If you build it up high enough then your Partner Pokemon could give you gifts. It also looks like you can give them special hair styles when you play with them.
If you wish to play with your Pokemon then select the Pikachu or Eevee icon on the main menu. If your game is in handheld mode then players can use the touch screen to play directly with their partner Pokémon.
Explore Celadon City!
The improvements and changes to Celadon City was also shown today. The largest city in Kanto is called the “City of Rainbow Dreams”. It is well fitting because there is so much to do there from battling in the gym, shopping in the Department Store to playing in the Arcade.
Erika is the gym leader for Celadon City and keeps her epithet as “the Nature-Loving Princess”. Her gym has undergone changes compare to how it was Yellow and FireRed & LeafGreen. It is more like a maze with tall shrubs similar to how it was in HeartGold & SoulSilver. Erika the gym leader has also receive a redesign where her yellow kimono has been replaced with a green kimono with a floral pattern on her obi.
The Game Corner in Celadon City has now been renamed as an arcade. It is unknown what happens in the arcade outside of plot.
There will be a new Switch bundle release on November 16th. This bundle will come out on the same day as Let’s Go.
This bundle will have a Switch that is Pikachu and Eevee themed. The JoyCons will be yellow and brown. There will be a Pikachu and Eevee decay on the console. Lastly, it will come with a digital copy of Let’s Go and a Pokeball Plus.
