Play! Pokemon Events Cancelled

Play! Pokemon
An announcement regarding all Play! Pokemon events has been made by Pokemon.

It was announced today that all Play! Pokemon event have been cancelled until May 14th. This announcement covers all events located in North America, Latin America, South America, Oceania, South Africa, and Europe.

There will be no Pokémon Regional Championships, Special Events, League Challenges, League Cups, Premier Challenges, Midseason Showdowns, and Prerelease tournaments hosted during this time period. This also means that there will be no new tournaments sanction  pending other circumstances.

All of this is being done to comply with local and federal recommendations to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Most places across the US are recommending gatherings no larger then 10 to 50 people. Pokemon events tend to bring in at least eight people together outside of staff, shopkeepers and normal shop patrons. It would be much harder to ensure that only 10 people show up to an event much less contain the spread of the virus.

It has also been said that eligibility to run future events such as Midseason Showdowns, League Cup and Prereleases will not be impacted by the need to cancel events.

Please be safe and practice good measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
