The next Pokemon game is coming friends, and this one is crazy!

The Pokemon Company, Nintendo Co., and Niantic, Inc. have announced a new mobile game called Pokemon GO, which will be released for Android and iOS devices in 2016. This free game will allow players to go out into the real world in order to embark on their Pokemon adventures.

Through the game, trainers must travel outside in order to catch Pokemon, trade, and battle others. A separate Bluetooth device for the smartphone (currently called Pokemon GO Plus) will alert trainers of nearby events and Pokemon by flashing and vibrating. Pokemon can be caught with the press of a button.

Although it’s too early to know for sure, the trailer hints at massive battles between multiple trainers and Pokemon. There might even be events where many trainers are required to take down a legendary Pokemon and potentially capture it.

“Our challenge was to develop a great game for smart phone devices that expressed the core values of Pokémon,” said Tsunekazu Ishihara, president and CEO of The Pokémon Company. “Pokémon GO is the answer to that challenge.”

The game itself is free, but will include in-app purchases. It combines Niantic’s real world gaming platform with the Pokemon franchise.

“Our partnership with The Pokémon Company and Nintendo is an exciting step forward in real-world gaming and using technology to help players discover the world and people around them,” said John Hanke, founder and CEO of Niantic, Inc.

Pokémon GO is being developed by Niantic, Inc. It is known for creating Ingress, the augmented reality mobile game which utilizes GPS technology to fuel a sci-fi story encompassing the entire world. Ingress currently has 12 million downloads worldwide.
