2016 is the first year for the official Pokkén Tournament Championships. A prize pool of over $100,000 is available to top players. The game launches worldwide on March 18th, 2016.
Competitions are being held across North America and Europe. Winners of these events earn an invitation and travel award to the World Championships. Other top contenders earn cash prizes and Championship Points, which can accumulate to earn an invite to Worlds. There will even be a Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) on the Friday of Worlds.
A total of 64 players will qualify for Worlds from the Masters Division, 16 from North America and 16 from Europe. The rest will be from Japan and winners of the LCQ. 16 players will qualify from the Senior Division, 4 from North America and 4 from Europe. The rest will be from Japan and winners of the LCQ.
