Nuzlocke comics are pretty popular around the internet, but less recognized are the collection of written Nuzlocke runs–known as storylockes. While they may or may not feature art, they require no less effort than your average comic. And, in many ways, they can delve deeper into details and character development. The goal of this series is to highlight the efforts of those authors–starting today with the Nuzlocke Forum’s Colbaltium.

Chaos Reigns is the first installment of a seven-part saga Colbatium dubs Mythic. In this tale, the Pokémon world is turmoil. Several regions are experiencing environmental disasters, and others are suffering under political friction. Kanto and Johto are at each others’ throats, teetering on the edge of an all-out war. Caught in between all this is a young boy named Chaos, living in New Bark Town with his emotionally frail mother. With tensions rising between the two governments, it seems likely that Chaos will be recruited to join the war–a conflict within itself, as Chaos’ father was from Kanto.

Yet one day, Elm comes forth with an offer that may delay that day. However, Elm’s task sets Chaos on a journey that will cause him to question everything he knew

Mythic: Chaos Reigns is a dual-locke run of SoulSilver, currently having four chapters with several parts to them. I would rate it around PG to PG-13, with some language. You can find it here on the Nuzlocke Forums, as well as links to Colbaltium’s other works.
