TCG Jump: M Charizard EX (Flashfire 13)

M Charizard EX Y The new Flashfire TCG set has been released and has started to burn up the metagame. New cards have came out and some of them are already leaving burn marks in decks. This week we will be looking a card that has been highly anticipated and is able to knock out some of the biggest threats with just one hit! This Pokemon is such a fan favorite that it got two Mega Evolutions but today we will look at the better of the two within the TCG. Get ready to dive right into this burning card: M Charizard EX (Flashfire 13).

This Mega Pokemon EX is a Fire type Pokemon with 220 HP. It may end your turn upon evolving but once you do then you have a powerhouse that isn’t afraid to burn decks up with it’s powerful attack. It will take two Fire and three Colorless energy to use Crimson Dive but if you can pull it off then prepare to see it do 300 damage to your opponent’s Pokemon. That is enough to knock out any Pokemon in the TCG including Mega Pokemon. It may come with recoil of 50 damage to Charizard but the Pokemon on the receiving end of Crimson Dive will be knocked out.

Do we have a usable Charizard? A usable Mega Pokemon? It is the most usable so far out of the bunch. M Charizard EX has support to help power him up and an attack that can be dangerous when powered up. Your turn ending upon Mega Evolution still hurts it but if M Charizard EX can survive until the next turn then your opponent will need to have a quick counter that can last the onslaught or at least be willing to lose a few Pokemon in the process.

There are a few Pokemon that can live a Crimson Dive. Steel types can if Plasma Klinklang is set up. Plasma Steel prevents damage from all EX Pokemon which Mega Pokemon fall under. Any Pokemon with the Safeguard ability such as Suicune and Siglyph will be able to survive. Both of them can hit hard thanks to one of them being able to hit super effective and the other doing damage base on number of energy on the other Pokemon. If you don’t have those abilities then prepare to see your Pokemon get OHKO with no end in slight.

One of the things that can help M Charizard EX and any Charizard EX is that Flashfire also release a lot of cards to help make them successful. Emboar is the obvious choice to dump Fire energy on to M Charizard quickly. The only problem would be is getting those energy and setting up Emboar. If you look within the Flashfire set then you will see the Blacksmith supporter card. This will allow you to attach to Fire energy to a Fire Pokemon from your discard. Getting Fire energy into the discard is easy thanks to items like Ultra Ball or another card from this set, Fiery Torch. This item card allows you to discard a Fire energy to draw two cards. After that, slap a Double Colorless energy and you have a M Charizard EX that needs one Fire energy or already has one on from a previous turn. One of the best ways to ensure that M Charizard EX can stay in battle long is the use of Protection Cube. This card prevents all recoil damage from a Pokemon’s own attacks. You can now attack with Crimson Dive without any drawbacks.

What does M Charizard EX has to fear? Besides not being used due to Charizard EX (FlashFire 12) being enough to handle most things? Water decks is one of those things. Suicune with Safeguard can rain on his parade as M Charizard EX can’t hurt it. Meanwhile, Suicune can do 140 damage to it thanks to weakness. Blastoise decks running Keledo EX can drown out the Fire Pokemon. A stock Secret Sword can knock out M Charizard EX. Blastoise can too with Hydro Pump if the opponent wants to risk using one prize instead of two.

The last threat to M Charzizard EX is anything that can knock him out with one hit. It is possible and the list is short. The first one to come to mind is Rayquaza EX if enough Fire energy is place on him. It will take a Rayquaza EX with four Fire energy but Dragon Burst will knock out Charizard EX. If you put a G Booster on Genesect EX with two Deoxys EX on the bench then that will black Charizard EX out. Lastly, a Black Kyruem EX with a Muscle Band attach will do 220 damage thanks to Black Ballista. The real weakness to M Charizard EX is the low HP that he has compare to other Mega Pokemon. The other problem is that once fire the first Crimson Dive that you need to keep firing them off until you win because setting up a second M Charizard EX will be difficult.

M Charizard EX has some firepower that can make any deck scare. It can deliver knock out after knock out if the other player isn’t careful. So watch out or you may end up burn by this card.
