TCG Jump- Featured Card- Genesect EX

Genesect EX
We are at the dawn of a new set for the Pokemon Trading Card Game. This time we are seeing the possible end of the BW Saga of the TCG and Team Plasma’s final stand. This week we are going to look at one of the Pokemon that will help lead Team Plasma into battle, their bio-engineered weapon: Genesect EX.

Genesect EX is the poster boy for Plasma Blast and the card that is most sought out for. It is already making waves in Japan. What makes it so good? Let’s take a look to find out.

Genesect sits at one hundred seventy HP which is normal for an EX Pokemon that boost high attack power. It has an ability and an attack that does massive damage which already position itself as the crowning jewel in the Team Plasma’s crown. It’s ability is Red Signal which basically gives Genesect EX a built in Pokemon Caterer ability. All you need to do is manually attack a Plasma Energy from your had to Genesect EX. It will cost you your attachment for the turn but could put you in the position to gain two prizes.

Megalo Cannon is Genesect EX’s main form of attacking. It does one hundred damage to the active and twenty damage to a Pokemon on the bench for only two Grass and a Colorless Energy. This attack is similar to Darkrai EX’s Night Spear except it does more damage to the active while less to the bench. The only problem is that Genesect EX lacks the form of energy acceleration that Darkrai EX has enjoyed in the form of Dark Patch.

Not all is lost for Genesect EX as there is a card that could help Genesect EX in fueling this high power attack: Virizion EX. This card has an attack that can do fifty damage and as an additional bonus by pulling two Grass Energy from the deck and attach it to a Pokemon on the bench. Sounds like a match made in heaven for Genesect EX. This may sound familiar to Terrakion EX whose Pump-up Smash had an similar affect. The difference is that Virizion EX’s attack cost one less energy to use and pulls energy from the deck. If lucky with your hand , you can attack with Virizion EX’s Emerald Slash in the first turn.

There is more to help Genesect EX as well. There are two Ace Specs that were made just for him which are G Booster and G Scope. Both cards are good in their own right as they give Genesect EX a second attack to use which cost the same as it’s normal attack. G Scope allows Genesect EX to snipe threats on the bench by hitting them for hundred damage but it will be G Booster that will get all the use. G Booster allows Genesect EX to hit the active with a massive two hundred damage. That is enough to knock out any non-HP boosted Pokemon and can cut though abilities such as Safeguard and PlasmaSteel. It will lose two energy but there are ways to regain those energy.

Things are looking good for Genesect EX as it has all it needs to become a top tier deck within Plasma Blast. Do not forget that it has access to the Plasma Toolbox such as Deoxys EX to help boost it’s attacks. Will Genesect EX be able to pull of a turn two G Booster with the help of Virizion and lead Team Plasma to victory? It is possible but but we will have to wait and see. Good look with your pulls at the Plasma Blast prereleases.
