Dragon Pokemon are Back in the TCG!

Dragon Pokemon
After 3000 years…Dragon Pokemon are out of the vault!

And just in time to see Arceus, Dialga & Palkia to rotate! Though, that is beside the point because we are now going to see the return of the Dragon Type in the upcoming TCG this summer!

Several new cards from Japan’s upcoming ‘Sky Stream’ & ‘Towering Perfection’ set have been revealed. As part of this reveal, you can see that several Pokemon have received the Dragon typing. We haven’t seen a Pokemon with the Dragon typing since Cosmic Eclipse. This was the final set of the Sun & Moon era.

What Happen to the Dragon Type?

You may have remember that Pokemon made a proper announcement that Fairy type Pokemon were going to be discontinued in the TCG starting with Sword & Shield. Though, that announcement was never made for Dragon type Pokemon. Instead, the Pokemon TCG printed Dragon type Pokemon with their secondary typing and ignored single type Dragon Pokemon. For example, you would see Salamance V printed as a Colorless Pokemon to reference it’s Flying typing.

‘Sky Stream’ & ‘Towering Perfection’ will bring back the Dragon type with full force! The focus Pokemon will be Rayquaza and Duraludon. Both of them will also be featured as a VMAX Pokemon with Duraludon will have it’s Gigantamax form. Both Rayquaza and Duraludon will have a Battle Style. Rayquaza will specialize in Rapid Strike Style. Meanwhile, Duraludon will focus on Single Strike Style.

Implementing the Dragon Type

About the implementation of the Dragon type in the Pokemon TCG this time. Dragon Pokemon will focus on mix typing attack. You will see Pokemon like Rayquaza V use Fire and Lightning Pokemon. Meanwhile, Duraludon will use Fighting and Metal energy.

Also, it looks as of right now Dragon Pokemon will have no Weakness or Resistance. Many players guess that Dragon Pokemon will be weak to themselves. Though, that doesn’t seem to be the case. It will be difficult to knockout these Pokemon with a single hit once they gain massive HP as a VMAX Pokemon.

‘Sky Stream’ & ‘Towering Perfection’ will be release in Japan on July 9th. They will be release around the world as Evolving Skies on August 27th.
