Hey there.
I just joined this community in the wee hours before turning in to sleep but I've been a Pokemon trainer since 2000 when I got addicted to the anime at random after ignorantly ridiculing it for being the stupidest thing ever created. :embarrassed: I was 13-year-old and a lot more irrational than I am now. I've well learned my lesson.
My first game came briefly after that. It was Yellow because my best friend had it a bit before me and kept telling me about it ("I caught a zubat" is a particular line that I recall), then the day she actually showed me I decided I had to have it.
When Hoenn started I was done with the anime, it just didn't have that same quality (though I've glimpsed the proceeding generations out of curiosity, still have yet to be impressed) but I can not bypass any of the games. I'm looking very forward to Sun and Moon. The Pokemon that have been revealed, including the starters look very promising.
I also aspire to get a hold of the games I haven't yet played , Omega Ruby and Y.
For the past several years, I have had a on again off again relationship with Pokemon but I always come back to it. Heck last year I even did a nastaglic watch of old first and second generation anime including a handful of eps I'd never seen before, a lot of which have sadly since been removed from Youtube. Damn Youtube.
I also love me some Pokemon game creepypasta...well the ones that don't involve the player being/becoming psychotic, those unsettle me.
You know the year and how old I was when I got into Pokemon so you can figure out how old I am now. Truthfully, I don't like to think about it but one confidence I have about it is that there is no such thing as too old for Pokemon. Right?
I like to write though it's a frustratingly slow process for me as I'm a perfectionist, read and create manips, wallpapers and banners in photoshop. I have some graphic design education so have adiquite skill should it be needed.
Alright, I think that's enough about me. I look forward to learning how this site works.

Don't feel bad, the anime started off pretty good. But like you, I quit around the Hoenn stuff. Also, I had some on and off with Pokémon before waving the white flag and pretty much declaring I'll be around with it as long as it's around. No shame, there's life-long Disney fanatics out there. Also, I'm 34 years old. I got into Pokemon Blue when I was 17 and hey, I'm still with it! Thanks to Pokémon Go, I don't think anyone cares how old you are playing these games and getting into the fandom. They're fun, plain and simple. :)
Still, welcome to PXR! I'm quite sure you'll love it here, we're a fun and friendly bunch and we love hosting events and there's quite a few Pokémon RPGs to get into if you're into that stuff. We also have plenty of fellow graphic artists here, self included.
And if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask! We're happy to help out.

Welcome to PXR! Glad you found us :)
You're definitely never too old for Pokemon! A lot of the members here are older anyway!
That's awesome that you do graphic design! We're always interested in new forum themes and such. Maybe you could help design one in future, if you're interested! :D
Welcome ro PXR buddy. And you are definitely never too old for Pokemon. I am 24 and still play proudly. I started when i was a wee anklebiter. Back when Red and Blue came to the states, hooked ever since. Johto is still my favorite though. To quote Shofu: "idgaf if I'm 87, playing pokemon til the death bed"
Nice to see another graphic artist/writer. Can't wait to see the works of another perfectionist.

Welcome to the forum! It's awesome that you always come back to Pokemon. I'll always do that as well. :] I also look forward to Sun and Moon, but I'm avoiding spoilers so I don't know any of the other pokemon outside what was revealed in the initial trailer. xD
I hope you find that you want to stay here! The community is awesome. Thanks for coming. c:

I heard there was a new writer on the forum! Glad to meet you! My name's NobleJanobii but most people just call me Noble (or Janobii). I am one of the writing desk's moderators and look forward to seeing you there! We have a weekly prompt thread that the other writing desk moderator, EmeraldSky, runs if you need help with some inspiration. And if you have any questions feel free to ask me!

I appreciate all the warm welcomes.
I'm very glad to find a community that is highly populated by folks my age. In a lot of others the most dated answer to the 'what was your first game?' thread is FR/LG.
To answer some of the inquiries made:
- Admittingly, I have not dabbled much in Pokemon writing. I did attempt to write a Pokemon creepypasta some years ago but don't feel it came out good. A handful of years prior to that, I wrote a phony GSC cheat. That's literally it.
- I'm quite insecure about my writing because along with my perfectionism, I get distracted easily because my focus isn't constantly on the writing and have yet to complete a fanfic I've begun.
- I'm happy to contribute art but bear in mind that I have long work hours, 12pm-8pm PST. An observation I'd made tonight has suggested to me that I could possibly have 2 hours pruned from my shift after this week, however. *crosses fingers*.
- I'm not into RPGs. The single exeption being when my best friend and I used to do something of that style of fanficing via AIM in high school. Techincally it actually goes back to middle school, before we had AIM, and she even had internet, we'd do it either in person or over the phone. Our biggest anime focus however was Digimon season 4 not Pokemon though we did so a bit of something Pokemon in the back of eigth grade History class during boring movie showings.
Question: The wild Pokemon that show up on this forum, presumably you have to be on a team to claim them as I'd tried to claim one and it just took me to the guide page. How do I join a team?

No worries. :] And yeah, a lot of us grew up together on this forum's predecessor, which is awesome. cx
Ah, don't sweat about contributing your writing. It's only if you want to share it with us! And trust me, there are a lot of perfectionists around so you're not alone. xD If you don't feel like posting anything, you don't have to! But if you want some feedback or you just want to post something you've written, feel free. Otherwise, enjoy the other aspects of the forum! :D
Yes, so currently we have the Pokemon Go PXR Edition event going on in this section (http://www.pokemoncrossroads.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?230-The-Battlefield!). You can join a team by posting in the Mystic (http://www.pokemoncrossroads.com/forum/showthread.php?10642-Team-Mystic-Alliance!), Instinct (http://www.pokemoncrossroads.com/forum/showthread.php?10650-Team-Instinct-org!)or Valor (http://www.pokemoncrossroads.com/forum/showthread.php?10637-Team-Valor-Unite!)(totally go for Valor ;D) threads and you'll be assigned to whichever team you choose. Don't be intimidated by all the threads around--just participate in whatever you'd like to! Once you join a team, a new forum will open up to you which only members of your team can see!

Shame you joined Valor, most of them are just butt heads except my double agent buddy.
As for your experience with writing, you don't have to write a complete fanfiction. My fellow writing moderator, EmeraldSky, runs a weekly prompt thread. Just go look through those and see what you like, then write a short story and post it. It's great practice.

There's no such thing as too old for anything, in my opinion. Although, I would never grow up if I had the choice. Welcome! Glad you're no curse -- I'd tell you to leave otherwise (kidding).

my head, is in fact, not a butt.

Well to be honest I can sometimes be a butthead, so I'll fit right in.
