The PXR Mafia Round 2: Day 3!

Welcome to the PXR Mafia, hosted by Homura!

Welcome to the nethertown of PXR. It seems that there is a dark evil organization that has befallen this normally peaceful (not really) town. This organization, known simply to us as "the mafia", is led by the tyrant known as Laharl, an evil kid who is bent on devouring all life *note: descriptions may vary*. Oh no! Luckily, citizens have arisen to the challenge to try to defeat their enemy by hanging their own population, as suggested by this girl named Etna. Oh well! Here goes nothing!

Gameplay

In the beginning of day 1, everyone will be assigned a role for this town.

The game is divided into two parts: the day and night.

During the day round, everybody can discuss what had happened, and decide to hang one person. This person's hanging will happen strictly by votes. If there is a tie, one will be chosen randomly. These votes are posted on the thread. Do not PM me your votes.

During the night round, those with special roles will pm me their votes for their respective roles, such as underlings voting for whom they wish to kill, or knights for whom they wish to investigate. I will then take all of those votes and act upon those special roles, such as investigate the player chosen for the knights and relay the information back, etc. Those with the most votes will always win out, but if there is a discrepancy, it is settled by random choice.

The game ends when either all of the mafia are killed, or when there is not enough innocent lives, allowing the mafia to run free.

Timing in the game
Each day round and each night round will be 1 week long. That means at least 1 death a week! Yay~

Roles

Role: Villager
These are the basic citizens of the town. Of course, this means that they do NOT have special functions during night time. They make up the bulk of the town. However, remember that even citizens might have something up their sleeves, as well.

Role: Knight
The knights are the policing bodies of the town, and vary in number. All knights would know who all of the other knights are during the first night, in which during this time they are allowed to exchange information with each other through their own forum!

During the night round, the knights would have the opportunity to investigate a person in town. This is done by two steps: the first is that each knight would post who he or she wants to investigate on the private forum. After the votes are in (And I will reveal the one with the most votes), I will post in the private forum whether the investigated person is innocent or not.

They have no other abilities outside of that.

Role: Cleric
The cleric are simply that. They heal people. They side with the innocents, simply because you'd think holy beings would be as such.

During the night round, the cleric will pm me about who they want to save for the night. If the mafia's target and the cleric's target are the same, then the person is saved and is therefore not killed off. They cannot communicate with knights, unfortunately.

Role: Prinny (banner coming soon!)
The prinnies have had it with the mafia! They're rebelling against the mafia! Too bad they don't know who their masters are, though.

A Prinny can sacrifice himself at any time. During the day round, if your are feeling like you're gonna be lynched to death, you can sacrifice yourself to kill any other person! Well, ok, you can do it even if you aren't being lynched, but why would you do that, right? During the night, you can also blow up. Why do that? well if someone is there with you when you blow up, they die too!

If you are lynched and you decide to blow up, you are still counted as the person being lynched during the day.

If at night, the mafia decides to off you and you predict as such, you can choose to blow up and kill exactly 1 underling (or overlord if he/she is alone). If you blow up and the knights investigate you, you will kill exactly 1 knight. If the cleric is with you, you got lucky and you didn't blow up.

Role: Mafia
The mafia are basically the meat and potatoes of the other side. Once all of these guys are killed, the game ends in the innocent's favour!

The underlings will know exactly who is on their side during the first night, similar to that of the knights. They can communicate with each other freely through their own forum! Wow!

During the night, the underlings will decide on who to kill off during the night using their private forum. I will be using the voting system similar to that of the knights. This happens during the night round as well.

Role: Overlord
The Overlord is a sneaky one. He or she will be a super mafia member, able to do everything his or her underlings do. However, if the knights want to investigate the Overlord, he or she will show up as a normal law abiding citizen! Clean as a whistle! Wow, how devious to make your underlings do all your devious work!

It's Sunday. I hope everyone has gotten their roles by now. I at least got mine. I'm so psyched!

OK, Mike, basic rule of Mafia: YOU DO NOT SPEAK OF YOUR ROLE, PERIOD, unless it's been revealed already. You need secrecy, mate, this is the game of secrecy and blind guessing: Knowledge is power. If you were a Mafia, you'd be hanged first and already weaken the Mafia's numbers considerably. Alternatively, if you were a Knight or a Cleric, the fact that the Mafia have a shot to go at you before the hanging can start means they will take it and get rid of a power player for the Innocent before he/she can be of much use. Either way, that's a death sentence.

There aren't any take-backs at this point, mate, and you're lucky you didn't have much to take back to begin with. I'd have a heart attack if you posted that you were something important, especially if you were the Cleric...That would have been bad.

No offense, but it had to be said.

Anything, really. Including what the rest of us think the other's roles are, which is quite vital to figuring out who to noose, really. Though it is mostly guesswork without a (real) Knight confirming roles, hanging the right person can mean the difference between a Villager win and a Mafia win. :P of course, actually revealing what those roles are is a fool's move. The Mafia will know who the other Mafia are, but not what everyone else is. Revealing who you are or aren't will make the guesswork for nailing a Knight or a Cleric a lot easier-or, if you are Mafia, get you noosed pretty much immediately. :P

So, in short, figuring out who everyone is? That's half the goal. The other half is acting on it.

Poor Bulbasaur. :< But, I suppose that we must get down to brass tacks (tax?).

Bulbasaur said absolutely nothing apart from his sign-up, and no one talked to him as far as I know. Therefore, the Mafiosi must be clever enough to kill a quiet villager. This probably points to someone either A) with experience, B) with good judgement, or C) luck. I'm doubting C. As for experienced players, Latio and Desperado were the only ones who played in game one (apart from Bulbasaur, that I know of). Latio has said nothing I see as incriminating, but Quinn's knowledge of who hadn't called their moves was a bit... weird. He mentioned the Underling and the Overlord, which are Mafia roles, but he also mentioned an innocent - the Cleric. While this is a strange fact, the ability to know things like this is NOT in the Knight role description. I don't know how he figured it out. I do know that it's extremely incriminating that he knows the Mafiosi's movements before any Knight ought to. Therefore...

Well, put simply, I'm a Knight. I have no clue who the Cleric is, but I know who Tazz is, seeing as how I could only have time to investigate one person. xD How I know how many there are? The number of roles are on the front page. There's two Mafia, three Villagers, one Cleric, one Knight, and zero Prinnies. The two Mafia are the Overlord and the Underling. c:

Also, you could have killed Cosmos the last game. He was inactive we wouldn't have to murder someone who was alive. We could have murdered someone who was dead! That's the best kind because nobody cares about throwing stuff at a dead person, right? Right?

It actually worked remarkably well as a tactic last time. He very easily made sure that no one voted for one of the underlings until far too late (ie never). Meanwhile, I was completely guiding the lynchings.

I'm not sure, Mike. Depends on what you happen to be. Vanilla Villagers have no special functions in the Night round and can only vote to be Lynched. Mafioso vote in the night round to knife somebody. Clerics go and shield someone, and hope that they protected a guy from death. Who you are is going to influence that greatly.

Personal thoughts: we don't get to know Yuri's role because they're being replaced by Bulba and Mike's reentry. Either way, yeah, I asked Mike to vote since Bulba was unsure whether he was still in and it looked like ND was pulling a nasty last-minute tie-up trick. I'm willing to suspend judgement on that being his strategy for the moment especially since Michael's last post gives me bad vibes; I'm just glad we offed one mafioso. Now, from what I understand, we've only got one left to root out. We can do it!

The last thing you'd want to do is vote out someone for seemingly guilty behavior and have the guy who told you to do so turn out to be Mafia. You can't really tell, see?

It doesn't require that all Villagers are dead, just that there's not enough to SECURE a kill against a Mafia. Two Mafia to one villager is GG because the two mafia can vote the villager, so it's just a logical conclusion, really. Judging from Horuma's comment, this SEEMS to be the same scenario-you can't guarantee the Mafia winds up on the unlucky side of that 50%, so the Mafia wins.

At least, that's what I'm inferring from the wording of the rules and Horuma's response.

There's two mafia in total, Tazz. And you're dead, leaving one mafia and one villager class. ._. Meaning that there's a 50% chance that Velocity dies as the Cleric (Apparently she is, w/e.) and a 50% chance that ND dies as the Overlord. So there's a 50% chance that either side will win, just like in the beginning, I guess.

Well Mike's banning kinda messed up the numbers. It would have been 2 villagers to the single mafia, which meant the game was still going on. Mike's banning made that not possible.

So....a tie? Normally if this happens it's mafia victory, but this isn't...normal. XD

Also, I like Sita more than the mafia flonne/etna/prinny. :3

I'd say it's a Mafia win only because it fulfilled the win condition, and this kind of vote was inevitable without Mike. I mean, even if you decided to revive Yuri, or undo Bulba's death, or Velo protected Bulba in the night round and negated his death, the two people who could have theoretically voted are so inactive they weren't going to anyways. :P This vote between Nep and Velo was the result of their dead states, and we all knew it the instant people stopped posting.

I dislike how it's just such a cheap win, but it's a win nevertheless, in this sense. Feh!
