[PXFIRE TEAM] Avalon Apostles: Guardians of the just.

I see a world in anger; I see a world in pain.
Each day a different story, but still the message (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nExce26tXs) is the same.

In the gloom of the grimy city, a flash of white, pink, and blue catches your attention. Curiosity draws you toward this strange blur of color and before you know it, you’re chasing a Sylveon through the streets. The tedium of the everyday fades from your attention as you follow the Pokemon, which always keeps itself within your sight but just out of reach.

Graceful as a hare, the Sylveon turns abruptly and bounds into an alleyway. You take the corner at a run and follow, only -

- this is not the same place you left behind.

Where there once were slabs of concrete and glass, there now stand apple trees and grasses so green that they dazzle your eyes. Life, from the smallest of insects to the largest of Pokemon, abounds here. You see a young man playing with a Dewgong; you see a Krokorok doing what looks like yoga; you see a Salamence dozing, an older woman lying against it and playing a tune on a flute. The Sylveon turns to you, lifts its paw to its muzzle and scampers off, ribbons fluttering in the breeze.

You feel as though you could stand there taking in the sweet sounds and smells forever, but a new Pokemon flutters down from one of the trees - a Togekiss, standing before you on dainty feet, head tilted. “Did Gawain bring home another one? He usually only reaches out to the hurting - or the worthy. I wonder which you are.” The Togekiss pauses, as though evaluating you. “Whatever the case, you found your way here, which must mean that we have something to offer each other. My name is Velo, and I am the founder of the Apostles of Avalon.”

The Togekiss extends a wing to point out the others. You realize suddenly that the man is missing one leg and walking on a prosthetic; that the Krokorok’s arm trembles as though recently injured; that the Salamence has a bandage over one eye and the woman wears an eyepatch to match. It’s not everyone, but quite a few of the people here bear the physical marks of tragedy and pain. “We Apostles safeguard this place - our Avalon, where the war-weary may be healed. The Avalon Apostles are knights who are dedicated to fighting injustice in every shape and size - but we are also healers, there to pick up the pieces of pain. We vanquish evil, protect the innocent, uphold justice and mercy, and heal the wounded. No matter the cost.”

For a moment, the only sound is the woman’s flute and the wind in the trees. “If you came here, you must be searching for something, but it’s up to you to decide if our cause is that something.” The Togekiss nods toward the edge of the clearing, where a door-shaped hollow has opened up in one of the trees. “You may leave whenever you wish, but know this - if you ever need our help, or if you wish to join us, the Avalon Apostles will be waiting for you. All you need do is seek, and you will find.”

I'm thinking that we can run with the angle Shruikan gave us - "The unified emergency services of Aluna, they previously handled policing, rescue, medical, and many other services. With the appearance of the Rifts, a new division has been created, to handle pokemon related issues, and many members are part of the unified strike force." If you guys are okay with it, we can have members in the UFS, but be more of a social and slightly militant movement which sees wounded, frightened creatures in the incoming Pokemon - though some members might be a bit too zealous in putting down vicious Pokemon. The character I'm working on would be the leader of the Avalon Apostles, more of a group of concerned citizens than a straightforward organization, which he would have formed to mitigate the brutality of the UFS and the chaos of the other organizations. Between Neo's and K'sariya's characters (aka, the ones I know anything about) there's already some pretty good synergy. I'll have my SU up soon.

Your Comics entry is amazing! Definitely awesome art quality there! I wanted to do just a tinge bit more work on mine, but I knew it was either submit what I have or risk not getting something in on time.

Yeah, I think we have a pretty straightforward means to get going into this one easily. And that plan sounds good, though I have a feeling there might be disagreements within the UFS regarding what to do about the Pokemon. Some may want them exterminated while others may be trying to bond with some of the more compliant ones.

My character is somewhat more in the middle. He recognizes that some can be compliant while for others, there's no chance and they need to be quarantined until someone can figure out what to do about them. And there are Pokemon that are relatively peaceful while others are just downright dangerous to the extreme. And there's plenty of gray areas in that as well.

Is there any particular character role you need? I can try to draft up a SU when I get the time?
