Hi, I'm Rachel! Welcome to my humble art corner! =)

I am very excited to start posting some more recent art creations that I have been working on over the past few years! Since my time on the old PE2K forum, I have slowly ventured away from traditional artwork and have moved on towards the wonderful world of digital art. I still very much love the Pokémon series.. it's the main subject that I tend to draw. However, I do occasionally dabble into other fan art categories, which you will also see here. You might also see some more original artwork from time to time as well.

For now I will probably end up posting drawings from a while back, and slowly work up towards some newer pieces. But I have lots of fun artwork that I would love to share with you all, and I hope to keep this thread going for as long as possible. Nowadays I am a pretty active drawer, so I'll do my best to supply a steady stream of artwork when I can!

Hi arnisd! Unfortunately I don't have any process screenshots or anything for that one, but I can try to offer some advice at the very least!

It's been a few years since I've drawn it, but I do remember using a few different custom-made brushes in Photoshop that I've created - the short and taller grasses specifically. Creating your own brushes is such a wonderful PS feature and really helps you to save time on whatever it is you're working on.

Something else I'd like to mention is to start off with your base colors - whether it be through characters, objects, or even the surrounding scenery - and then work on giving your subject dimension by way of shadows, highlights, and so forth. In this case I started off focusing on just a small clump of grass, and once I had the shading and rough highlights in, I duplicated the same grass clump many times over throughout the scene in order to achieve what I wanted. It also helps to skew each group a bit - shrink it, squash it, reflect it, etc. You'll create the illusion of variation! And again, you'll save time. Remember, sometimes it's best to work smarter, not harder!

Of course, you may still want to take that extra bit of time to add in some detailing maunally, without any tricks. It depends on the situation. At least, that's what I've found out through the years.

There's soooo much more that I could cover, but that was all off the top of my head at the moment. Regardless, I hope this helps you!

Yes, I love experimenting with brushes and discovering the fun effects that they can create. Someday if I remember to I'll post a screenshot or two of some of my favorite brushes to use while I'm working!

Ah, no problem, I'm just surprised and amazed at how the shading is sooooooo smooth in these. The only other times I've seen that accomplished is when people bust out the 3D rendering stuff, so that's really impressive!

Hope everyone's week is going well so far!

Posted below are some drawings related to a side project of mine titled, 'Shiny Buddies'. Each month I pick 3 random pokémon using Random.org, and then draw their shiny forms! These drawings are meant to showcase each and every existing pokémon together being, well.. besties! Drawing these special scenes are a great exercise due to the fun challenge it brings. I've had some pretty interesting, and sometimes wild, combinations!

I will be starting my 4th year with this project beginning in 2019, and I hope to keep going for many more months to come! I hope you like these featured drawings!

Two more drawings posted below!

The first is a special piece that a talented group of artists and I participated in back in 2015. The project was titled 'Harmony of a Champion', which was a wonderful fan-made soundtrack produced by Shinesparkers and centered around the beloved original 1st Generation pokémon games, Pokémon Red and Green! The soundtrack had been dedicated to the upcoming 20th anniversary of the Pokémon games, as well as a tribute to the late Satoru Iwata.

Each artist was assigned a particular route or city/town in the game, and I was chosen to draw Viridian Forest! There were a few conditions for each piece:

- We were limited to a specific hue range, as well as black and white.
- We were encouraged to add in some pokémon related to the scene.
- An entrance sign of some sort was required somewhere on the drawing itself in order to help the viewer identify each place.

That piece with Viridian Forest is incredible. So much depth and incredible use of lighting, shading, and detail. Heck, just looking at it gives my eyes a feeling of wanderlust as I look down every path and between the trees to see what's hidden there. That captures the whole essence of that forest perfectly!

I like the Pikachu birthday cake as well! That's a cute and colorful picture you got there! It looks so soft, fun, and fluffy!

I do remember that whenever new pokémon are announced on Deviantart, there are artists out there that have them fully drawn and colored within an hour or so. Now that's fast! OvO

I've got another batch of drawings ready below! These are particularly special.

For the past few years now, I have been participating in several large-scale collaborations along with many other talented artists. The themes are mostly Pokémon-related, but occasionally focus on other series/subjects as well. What makes these collabs unique is that for each drawing submitted, our kind-hearted host donates a certain amount of money to charity. Together, we have helped raise hundreds of dollars towards well-known organizations such as Samaritan's Purse, Canadian Red Cross, and the Make-a-Wish Foundation, along with providing relief towards various past natural disasters, such as Hurricane Harvey.

I hope you enjoy these past few submissions.. they were created with a purpose - to help those in need! <3

I cross referenced the picture in the video, saw they linked a dA page I hadn't seen before and checked it out. I did see a few other images you posted here so I assumed it was right, but I wanted to make sure. I heard there's been a lot of scammers and those stealing lately claiming art as their own. And yeah, I've had stuff stolen as well and people who have tried to sign up as me on another site (one tricked the admins so much so that it was enough to get themselves modded @.@). Thing is, I don't even mind if people use my art, just as long as they don't claim they made it, because that's just lying. But yeah, good idea to watermark your stuff, because while it isn't foolproof, it at least they'd have to go through a lot of trouble to paint over it and not everyone even has the skill or software to pull it off. Thankfully, most people don't try and it's usually a good signal to others that you don't want them using it without your okay.

I'm glad to see that hasn't deterred you from continuing to make amazing and beautiful art pieces. Once again, thanks for sharing the incredible fruits of your skills, creativity, and imagination. :)

Happy Saturday! Just posting one drawing this time, but it's one of my most detailed drawings to date.

This was a joint commission for the two clients' fanfiction, and featured four guardian pokémon about to do battle with a very large, ancient Nidoking called Centauri. As you can see, he wasn't too happy about being woken up...

This commission took many hours of hard work and dedication, but I was very happy with the result. I hope you all like it too:

Originally the only pokémon that I was instructed to add clothing to were the two smaller Nidoking, but after the commission was completed, the Scyther and Charizard characters that belonged to one of the clients loved the armor and robe designs so much that he had asked to add armor to them as well. Thank you very much! The commissioners asked for a Cel shading style, which made this drawing even more challenging, since I don't work with Cel that often, but it was excellent practice in the end! I'm glad you like it. ^^

Seriously. This is my absolute favorite thing i have ever laid my eyes on. The night sky. The trails of light. The expression, even the detail on Jirachi, Latios and Latias. At first, Swablu's expression summed me up, but when i noticed all these little details, i went Bagon. My goodness i am blown away. I would say i am speechless but i am friggin rambling.

Another batch of amazing awesomeness from TH24! It never disappoints! The Good Friends, Good Times is so well detailed! From both lighting and shading given off by the light of the fire. Ooooooh and that sunset! So beautiful!

The Garchomo one looks like the scene from a game/movie where the bad guy is shrugging off the heroes attack where they think they won. Like it was nothing and it depicts a very strong scene there. Very captivating.

My goodness, thank you so very much, wow! There is still so much that I want to learn, but I do the best I can! ^v^

Oh yes, I really love Wishing Night as well - it remains one of my favorites to this day. I really enjoy making things sparkle and I try to portray a feeling of emotion in my work, which can be difficult to do.

I remember drawing a shiny Ho-Oh for one of my Shiny Buddies pieces, but I made him look kinda scary since he was chosen for the month of October, haha. But I would love to draw a proper Ho-Oh with bright, fun colors someday!

Good friends, Good times was definitely a joy to create for the commissioner! I was given free reign to pose everyone how I liked, so that's always nice when an artist is given that sort of freedom. Galarian Ponyta was equally fun to do!

As for Stare, I totally get where you are coming from. I wanted to create a sinister atmosphere where you would feel that the viewer has nowhere left to run - It's something that I don't really do all that often. But it was a unique experience for sure!

That's very true! Fortunately my commissioners have all been really great and understanding throughout the entire process. Yeah it's good to have those who are understanding. I've heard stories from artists who get commissioners who are so picky. Some to the point they wait until it's totally finished to say "they want the whole thing redone or changed" and....no. I typically don't ever have a clear cut idea. So I let the artist have more free reigns. Can make it all the better too! Surprise them!

Yeah rest in between is always preferable. Don't need to push yourself as I've seen to some other artists. Thought I would at least mention it for a possible chance some day when the time came! You totally deserve it! Your art is remarkable! Just breath taking really!

It's time I show some artwork of one of my OC's, Sammy! He was originally created a few years ago from a college assignment where we had to create an interactive game for young children. Over the years I decided to improve upon his initial design and make him my own special character.

You can think of him as a monkey-like creature with some feline characteristics. Sammy is very friendly and curious, and loves to explore!

So... it's been a while! I hope that you all have been staying safe and healthy during these hard times. Like so many of us, I've been keeping busy with real life things, but I'm glad I found some time to return here.

Thanks again, and thanks for the interest! I just started experimenting around with the 'traditional paper' style, so we'll see what happens with that. Most of my artwork doesn't have a paper texture added in. In most cases I use a variety of textured brushes at my disposal which help to bring out some cool effects. =)

Oh yes, and I have to say... creating, as well as viewing art, can have a therapeutic effect on people. It's why I've had such a deep passion for drawing things for so long. Besides the evolving challenge that it can bring, it just flat-out makes me happy! That's a good question... I would say maybe around 7-8 hours? It was definitely an enjoyable project and something out of the norm for me.

That's a good question... I would say maybe around 7-8 hours? It was definitely an enjoyable project and something out of the norm for me.
