GM's Note: Welcome to Ryme Chaos, a Pokemon RP set in the same world as the Detective Pikachu movie! That being said, this RP is intended to be spoiler free, for those who haven't seen the movie, and should not require any knowledge of the movie or game to play.
Plot
Ryme City, it’s a modern marvel, a hub for technology and a paradise for Pokemon, as well as the humans who choose to live beside them. Here, people and Pokemon live in harmony, and if a Pokemon stays by a given human’s side, it’s because they want to, not because a Pokeball dictates it. Formal battles are prohibited by law, and trainers visiting the city from other regions are placed under heavy restrictions—first and foremost being that they are not allowed to carry empty Pokeballs into the city. Doing so is a crime punishable by heavy fines, but using those Pokeballs to catch Pokemon is even worse, punishable with jail time. Most residents of Ryme, both human and Pokemon, like it this way. Love their peace and harmony. There are so many other places in the world to go if you don’t like the lifestyle here, most will tell you if you bother asking, but there is only one Ryme City. At least, for now, as there have been multiple pushes to build more cities like Ryme in other regions, places for Pokemon who need help, or wish to have a safe place to live.
Which is why almost every permanent resident in Rhyme City was baffled when there was a sudden push for reform...a push for Pokeballs and the capture of Pokemon to be allowed within the city. Originating from a research company relatively new to Ryme, most assumed that the administration of Megans Technologies would quickly come to understand the principles Ryme City was founded on, would see that their way of life was beneficial to Ryme’s people and Pokemon. This was not the case. In fact, they pushed even harder when residents didn’t seem interested.
In fact, they dug deep into the city’s own history, did their homework, and struck again. There had been incidents in Ryme’s past, their administration argued, where having a majority of the city’s Pokemon population easily stored in Pokeballs would have been better for public safety. The most significant of those incidents had only happened seven years ago—many of the residents still remembered it. What would happen, they asked, if something similar were to happen again? What would happen if Pokemon began attacking buildings? People?
And then, not long after that push, Pokeballs began appearing on the streets of Ryme City. Battles started to break out, and Pokemon began going on rampages. Both people and other Pokemon were quickly put in danger, and the RCPD scrambled to contain the incidents. The residents of the city, who had not been swayed before began to take sides—some, concerned for the safety of the public, began agreeing that it might be best to have most of the city’s Pokemon population easily containable while others argued that the events had likely been caused as a result of the Pokeballs that were now popping up on the streets. Of course, things only worsened when public officials began to take sides...and one of the largest supporters for keeping Ryme’s Pokemon free was attacked by rogue Machamp at a public rally, only to be saved by a few of the city’s new illegal trainers, who battled the Pokemon before one of the rescuers caught it.
These illegal trainers were arrested for possession of Pokeballs with intent to capture, sparking outrage among the supporters of change—they had saved people, they had stopped the attack, why in the world were they being arrested when they should have been hailed as heroes? Chaos has descended upon the streets of Ryme since the attack and arrest, pitting trainers against partners in dangerous and illegal battles. The number of Pokeballs and reported Pokemon captures within city limits have skyrocketed, as well as the number of “rogue” Pokemon attacks. The RCPD is scrambling to do its best to protect all residents of Ryme, as well as uncover the origins of the Pokeballs cropping up on the streets. Given the number of battles and rogue attacks, they’ve already got their hands full, and are readily welcoming on as much good civilian help as they can get.
So, welcome to Ryme City. Are you prepared to take a side, and fight for what you believe in?
Extra Info
Ryme City welcomes visiting trainers with open arms, with a few restrictions
They must have a digital passport
All empty Pokeballs and “Battle Items” must be deposited elsewhere before entering the city. Trainers attempting to pass through Customs with any banned items will have said items confiscated, with no chance of return upon exiting the city.
They are allowed to carry a team of up to six Pokemon with them, however an updated registry of their team is required to be attached to their passport at all times.
PCs are available for visiting trainers to access all of their Pokemon, but are only available at small, pay to use facilities called “swap centers.” The most prominent swap center chain in the city is Swap n’ Go.
Though RCPD is accepting civilian volunteers, all volunteers must be able to pass a background check and undergo a quick educational course informing them of what situations they are allowed to handle, and how to handle them. Volunteers caught handling situations in an improper manner can and will have their volunteer privileges revoked, and may face fines or jail time.

Heyo what is Sabi doin' an RP well she's gonna damnwell try. -slams that reserve button-
Name: Shay Draklyn
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Resident or Visitor: Visitor
Occupation: Pokemon Trainer/Pokemon Sanctuary Employee
Appearance: Shay doesn't look like a person you could be friends with from her immediate demeanour. Long dark hair under a cap, greenish eyes behind gradient faded sunglasses, and a 5'9 height that makes her seem like she's looking down on most people. Shay has an intense aura about her that matches her attitude. Her clothes are well taken care of, but show signs of travel: a backpack always seems to be on her back, Pokeballs of various kinds openly seen on one of the arm straps. A vest over a pale blue t-shirt, work black cargo pants and grey sneakers. She isn't trying to hide the fact she is a well traveled trainer, or the fact she's a trainer at all. Her bare arms show some faded and more recent scars from working with Pokemon, but she doesn't show them off for intimidation, but rather, education.
Personality: Shay is a woman who puts Pokemon first and people second. She has a bit of a standoffish attitude when it comes to strangers. One thing Shay works well with is the unorthodox. Despite her lackluster social skills, those who need protecting will be protected and those who need help will be given it. Typically a trainer of her level might be seen as a contradiction to her belief in Pokemon freedom. For her it's all about education and trust: she knows that a Pokemon could leave a Pokeball if it wanted given the right knowledge. All Pokemon are individuals to her and should be treated as such. Shay has a grasp on the mutual understandings of Pokemon, but wouldn't claim she can speak to them. She has a strong familiarity with her Pokemon's mannerisms that she could hold some kind of conversation.
History: Shay comes from a long running family out of Johto. Hailing from the outskirts of Blackthorne City, dragons have been part of her life for as long as she can remember. Thankfully dragon Pokemon make great guardians for her family's work, which is running a Pokemon Sanctuary out on one of the mountain plateaus. The Draklyn family by all technicalities, own all the Pokemon in the sanctuary, but the need for Pokeballs is only a safety precaution. The Pokemon come and go as they please, free to leave or enter the safety of the Pokeball at their leisure. This also prevents any wayward thieves from claiming the Pokemon with just the toss of a ball. The girl took up the league challenges as a way to branch out from the family business and learn more about the world outside Johto. In her teenage years, she's taken on many league challenges successfully, while sticking to but not always confirming to her draconic heritage. As time grew on, Shay wanders around the regions, offering the same assistance her family offers back home to others who need it, hoping to provide an education on the ties of people and Pokemon. Hearing about the news in Ryme City was an immediate draw to Shay. It seemed like the perfect moral dilemma she could help with, albeit her finding out the restrictions of getting into the city might cause some unwanted extra attention. Given her ability for Pokemon battles, she's secretly hoping that despite this reputation, she can prove a point and help Ryme City fix it's unusual political problem.

Absolutely.
Name: Nathan Cole
Age: 41
Gender: Male
Resident or Visitor: Resident
Occupation: Computer programmer/hacker
Appearance: Nathan isn't the type you'd ever think might be involved with computers or technological equipment. He stands 6'1", weighs roughly about 190 pounds, and has short blonde hair and blue eyes. Despite his profession and knowledge of computers and technology, he still gets plenty of exercise and maintains a strong muscular frame with the time he spends at the gym.
For clothing, Nathan wears a brown trenchcoat over a black t-shirt and blue jeans. At times, he'll also slip on a pair of aviator shades in sunlight or if he doesn't want anyone to realize he's looking at them.
While smart and strong, what Nathan lacks is often charisma, as most people perceive him as a mysterious stranger that may not be all that trustworthy. In any case, Nathan prefers to work alone anyway, as the number of people he trusts is extremely low. And in general, he finds most other people not reliable.
Personality: Nathan is quiet, often using only short sentences and only talking when he needs to. He spends a lot more time thinking and observing. His main profession has him working 7am to 4pm for a company called Anotech, which specializes in system security and information systems protection. As a result, Nathan has a lot of knowledge about the programming behind firewalls, system security, and what kinds of threats exist in technology.
And he also knows how to make those same threats work for him as well. With his attention to detail and his knowledge of six programming languages. He can be both a guardian and an infiltrator, a programmer and a pirate, and a protection officer and a hacker. It's all a matter of what the goal is and who the target is. And while his appearance doesn't paint him as an extra fun and friendly person, he can still blend in, disappear, and you'll never see him again.
Nathan hates the idea and use of Pokéballs. Any advocate for them is someone he'd like to throw into a windowless jail cell, which is what he perceives the devices to be like despite what the advocates like to say. Normally Nathan isn't the kind of man big on sympathy, empathy, and showing hospitality to every living creature big and small, but the presence of Pokéballs makes him question what the next step is in terms of control. Any person claiming to be a trainer but only uses their Pokémon for battling is someone he considers to be no better than some street thug who thinks a crowbar or a sledgehammer is only used for bashing heads.
History: Nathan, having been born in Unova before moving to Ryme city when he was only five, was mostly unlike other boys who enjoyed sports. He regarded them as stupid and pointless, and that if the idea was to work out and get exercise, just be direct and hit the gym. But the whole throwing or kicking a ball around for points and goals seemed without purpose. His younger brother, Logan, didn't care much for sports either, though more of his passion was in music. Nathan didn't have much to comment about that, as he always felt a career in any entertainment field was very risky considering his opinion that there is lack of real utility to anything in those fields.
An early controlling nature got him into computers at a young age, learning about hardware and software and how to manipulate them and make them do what he wanted. While often regarded as a "dorky" or "geeky" kind of thing to get into, Nathan paid no mind to comments like that, as talented scientists were often still called "lab rats" and other derogatory garbage. And yet, his knowledge and skill is often envied by the ignorant.
When Nathan was twelve years old, for his birthday, his mother encouraged him that he get a Pokémon partner, as just about every person in Ryme City had one. He initially tried to bond with a Growlithe, but the fire puppy Pokémon had no interest in being partners with him, and neither did the Machop that he tried after that. Months went by and for a while, he put the whole idea on hold, focusing on schoolwork before anything else. But on a walk home from school, he found a stray Minccino with his foot stuck in a storm drain hole. Feeling a bit sympathetic that the chinchilla Pokémon had simply stepped in the wrong place to no fault of his own, he lubricated the hole around the Minccino's foot with a hardware cleaning agent and was able to slide the Pokémon's foot free. While Nathan personally didn't think much of the act, the Minccino took it as Nathan saving his life and decided to follow him and become his partner. It seemed like the right and natural thing to do. In time, as he and Kano, his Minccino had gotten older, the question of if and when to evolve his partner came to mind, and he decided to get a Shiny Stone and let Kano choose for himself.
Having graduated in computer science from Ryme City University, Nathan was able to leverage his knowledge and skills in his new profession at Anotech, but ever since the recent events surrounding Ryme City politics and the new surfacing of this new, invasive population and ideals, he has developed a strong desire to put an end to the trend. He doesn't care what the rest of the world wants. To him, Ryme City was founded on human to Pokémon partnerships. Anyone who feels otherwise with their Pokéballs and their captive Pokémon can turn around and get the hell out. Until they do, however, Nathan has devoted more of his energy in driving out the invasive ideology. And he has found many ways to put his skills and knowledge into action for just that purpose.
He didn't start this war, but he intends on seeing it finished and he doesn't care just how ugly it might get.
Partner Pokemon/Pokemon Team: Cinccino (Named Kano)
Other: Nathan's knowledge on hardware and software runs quite deep. While having committed several computer crimes already, he knows how to infiltrate, do his work, and leave without leaving traces behind. Only some of the most seriously skilled computer experts would be able to find the breadcrumbs he might leave behind.

Name: Catalina "Cat" Inés
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Resident or Visitor: Resident
Occupation: Blogger/Pokétuber/Part-time Florist/Part-time Magazine writer
Appearance: Cat is 5'2 with blonde hair that reaches her shoulders and light green eyes. She tends to wear black or other dark colored shirts with jeans and running shoes along with her green beret. She prefers long sleeves and sometimes will wear her own merch to promote it to her fans. She's got a fairly average build, nothing too strong, and most of what little height she has is in her legs. Her hair is naturally straight but she'll curl it for fancy occasions. She's not a huge jewelry person since for her occupation it can get caught on things, but again for fancy occasions she'll usually wear a necklace and some earrings.
Personality: Cat is a go-getter, but also a pretty smug individual. She's extroverted and likes having things done her way. People peg her as talkative and bit lacking in understanding some social boundaries, since she likes to constantly take videos and pictures of herself and other people. She's not afraid to speak her mind and voice her opinion, since she believes that the truth should be spoken no matter what. That said, she isn't always accepting when other people give her a taste of her own medicine. Still, Cat is quite sociable and has a fair amount of acquaintances in and out of the city.
Cat also isn't big on pokeballs. Raised in the Ranger community, she believes that there are much less forceful methods to earn a Pokémon's trust and affections. She views Pokémon as equals and they should be let to do as they please. This is also why she thinks battling should be legalized to some degree, in order to not only better regulate the underground fights but also to leave the option open for Pokémon that want to participate.
History: While she wasn’t born in Rome City, Cat and her family moved there when she was nine years old, when the city first opened. Prior to that, Cat had been born and raised in the Fiorre Region, and had been looking forward to Ranger School when she turned ten. She had participated in lots of children’s ranger camps and knew lots of the basic mantras and beliefs of the ranger community. As a result, while she was sad to leave the region and her dream of being a ranger behind, Cat quickly saw that Ryme City wasn’t all that different from the place she had just come from.
When she was eleven, Cat met her partner, a hoppip that lived in the city’s park. It was a shy little Pokémon that didn’t trust Cat at first, but with the help of her parents and some food, Cat was able to gain the trust of the hoppip. At first, their meetings were exclusive to the park, where Cat with the hoppip for as long as her parents would permit. However, a few months after she turned twelve, a storm swept the city that forced many of the hoppip out of the city due to their strong winds. Worried about her friend, young Cat went out into the storm to search and rescue her friend. How Cat made it to the park, she’s still not sure, but her parents caught up to her shortly after and began to take her home, telling her the hoppip would be fine. When they reached their house and began to dry off, they heard a scratching at the door only to find the little hoppip had managed to follow them despite the harsh winds. They quickly brought it inside, and there it remained until Cat decided to move out on her own.
Now Cat lives in a small apartment in the city which she has set up as a video studio for her Pokétuber career. Using her partner, CB, like a mini-drone, Cat does everything from vlogs to covering different events and festivals in Ryme City. She also sells perch, runs a blog, and has a patron. It’s not enough to fully pay her rent, since she only boasts 15,000 subscribers, so Cat also works at a local florist shop near her apartment and occasionally writes pieces for a local magazine.
Partner Pokemon/Pokemon Team: CottonBloom "CB" the Hoppip
Other: CB helps Cat with her Youtuber career by acting as a mini drone for her. Cat also vlogs and livestreams quite frequently at various events, so she typically has her camera or her phone on her at all times so she can snap a photo or video of something that catches her interest.

Shay's had a life of all dragons all the time. XD No she is not the Dragonborn.
Man I feel like Shay's gonna be the victim of inconvenient circumstances a lot and it's gonna make for some great conflict.

Hey, at the very least, I have a feeling Shay won't be alone. That being said, I present some other potential victims of inconvenient circumstances:
First up, a visitor from Sinnoh~
Name: Rain Caulder
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Resident or Visitor: Visiting from Sinnoh
Occupation: Intelligence Officer for the Sinnoh FBI (currently on loan to RCPD)
Appearance: At first glance, it’s easy to assume Rain is closer to 18 or 19 than in her mids 20s, her even 5’ height and slim build doing her no favors. No matter how much time Rain spends outside, her pale skin never seems to get any darker, though part of that might be attributed to the fact the woman rarely wears anything other than thin, scoop necked long sleeve shirts in varying shades of gray, layered under a thick-knit, tan cardigan that reaches down to her knees, combined with close-fitting jeans. As much as Rain would personally like to travel everywhere barefoot, and does take her shoes off at every available opportunity, she does keep a pair of black slip-on shoes with her, and wears them when needed. She keeps her coal-black hair cut in a neat bob that follows her chin, but often hides her almond-shaped, pale blue eyes behind oversized sunglasses with very dark lenses. She keeps her Pokeballs attached to the strap of a black messenger bag she uses to tote around what little she sees fit to carry with her. This mostly consists of a specialized laptop, a bone conduction headset, and whatever else may be relevant to her work at the time, as well as a collapsible cane she’s never actually needed to use.
Personality: Though quiet, Rain is far from shy—she just finds that people are more willing to share information when they think you aren’t paying attention, or don’t have much to say. Of course, it often leads to nasty surprises when the woman opens her mouth, and what pours out is sharp-edged sarcasm and humor mixed with intelligence, not that Rain particularly cares if she hurts someone’s feelings. Her trust is incredibly slow to earn, and if you’re human, it’s entirely possible you’ll never earn 100% of it...meanwhile she’s incredibly social with Pokemon, and clearly more trusting of them. She would easily place her life in her team’s hands, and won’t bother to play nice if you insult or threaten them, or anyone she cares for for that matter. Rain is incredibly independent, given her blindness, and will often crack jokes about it, morbid as that may be, particularly since the last thing she wants is sympathy, or someone trying to help her when she hasn’t asked for it.
Rain is also incredibly dedicated to her job--she was practically raised by members of the Sinnoh FBI, and has been working in information gathering since she was eleven. As such, she’s almost always critical of herself and others, and failures are taken heavily. She has a soft spot for kids and Pokemon, but little patience for much else, though she and her team aren’t beyond offering constructive criticism where they can. Just don’t ask them to sugarcoat it.
History: Rain doesn’t like bringing up much about her life before the age of eleven, when she was discovered and taken in by the members a government task force. Prior to this, she was mostly taken care of by a Gengar and a pair of Gastly, and though she was clearly around people enough to understand some English, she tended towards using the language she had learned from her ghost type caretakers. Though blind, Rain had quickly adapted to using her Pokemon family as her eyes and ears over a distance, and was already quite capable of stealth before the task force found them during a raid in the Ecruteak-style inn the girl's birth mother had been running out of Sunyshore.
The task force's leader, a behavioral analyst named Audrey Killian was quick to take the girl in, and though she had no intention of bringing her on as a team member, Rain and her companions gave Audrey little say in the matter. Having been moved into a new and unfamiliar situation, the four were wary of Audrey's kindness, and were caught tailing her on more than one occasion before the woman asked if they really wanted to be a part of her task force that badly. Though they weren't particularly interested in working with the force to help people, they were interested in the information it could give them. What they got on top of information, however, was a large and incredibly dysfunctional extended family that Rain and her Pokemon caretakers would go to the ends of the world for. They quickly cut out a place for themselves among the force as a phenomenal info gathering crew, and in time, Rain and her caretakers adjusted to—well, not a normal life, but one more conventional than the life they lead before.
Rain and her new family have since passed the years together in mostly love and laughter. Audrey legally adopted her at thirteen, but she only stayed as Rain Killian for three years before Audrey married Jiminy Caulder, the force’s medical examiner. Rain hardly minded this, as she had viewed Jim as a father figure long before that point. Her Pokemon team grew as wild ghost Pokemon became drawn to the girl and her odd ability to understand them, as well as her kindness, and in turn, her skillset in the field grew. She and her Pokemon gained an impressive reputation over the years, as did the task force, though their jobs and goals have changed in time. That said, the force has recently been separated and used to train other government agents in various areas. Rain was pulled from her training gig to assist RCPD with their ongoing investigations as a gesture of goodwill. She doesn’t mind it, though, as she considers the philosophy Ryme was built on to be important...though she’s not certain Ryme and it’s residents will respect her as much as she respects them.
Pokemon Team:
Gengar - M - Azriel (Usually left out of ball, acts as her guide Pokemon)
Gastly - F - Nuala (Usually left out of ball, tends to hover close to Rain’s body unless directed elsewhere.)
Gastly - F - Cerridwen (Usually left out of ball, tends to hover close to Rain’s body unless directed elsewhere.)
Froslass - F - Grace
Litwick - M - Flicker
Decidueye - M - Ollie
Other: Rain's blindness is non light perceiving, meaning she can see nothing at all, and has not been able to see for as long as she can remember. She has the ability to both understand and directly speak with ghost Pokemon, but this does not apply to Pokemon with other typings--she jokes about having a hard time understanding their "accents." She calls the language she attributes to ghost Pokemon the language of shadows and whispers, and very seldom speaks it in the presence of others--it doesn't exactly sound pretty rolling off a human tongue.
And then a new resident who's really just trying to hold down a job.
Name: Byron "Perry" Parisi
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Resident or Visitor: Resident
Occupation: RCPD Receptionist
Appearance: Though not exactly, bad-looking, Byron Parisi gives off an awkward, nerdy vibe pretty much 24/7. His 5'7" height makes it so that he doesn't really stand out in a crowd, and with his honey-toned eyes, neatly cut sandy blond hair, and sun-browned skin, there's not much that makes him stand out in general. When not working the front desk at the RCPD, Perry can often be found wearing various plaid button-ups open over black graphic tees combined with jeans that are usually missing the knees, well-worn black high tops, and he keeps a black beanie over most of his hair. An aged, braided leather bracelet encircles his left wrist, alongside a less weathered looking silver chainmail bracelet in a Byzantine pattern, and he totes around all his stuff (and frequently his partner Pokemon) in a very sturdy, black canvas backpack--all of the things he deems important go in the smaller front pocket of the backpack, while the inside of the larger "main" pocket has since been lined with a waterproof layer, fleece, a few blankets, and one might just find a plush toy or two hiding at the bottom because his partner Espurr often refuses to sleep anywhere else.
When working the front desk at RCPD, Perry can often be found wearing much nicer, professional button ups in white or "police" blue and black slacks with loafers. Occasionally, he wears a black vest with these, he can also frequently be seen wearing colorful or otherwise "fun" ties and tends to keep his shirt sleeves rolled back to his elbows. He keeps his pair of bracelets on, and his backpack stays with him at all times.
Personality: Though his appearance doesn't stand out much, it's easy to see how Perry landed a position as one of the RCPD's receptionists. He's a warm, friendly guy who almost always wears an easy smile that has an almost infectious effect on people. He's perfectly at ease talking to strangers, and is always ready to help where needed. Perry's easy to get a laugh out of and quick to make jokes, but he doesn't seem to make actual friends easily. Looking a bit closer at the friendly guy who frequently dotes on his partner Espurr, there's something...almost sad and lonely about him. He doesn't go out to department functions often, and he doesn't hang out with his co-workers unless they approach him first. Perry's the kind of guy that can listen to others talk all day, but rarely mentions much about himself, and when he does, he doesn't give much away. Several of his co-workers suspect it's simply because he's new to both Ryme and the department, and that he'll get.over his "shyness" eventually. Others aren't so sure.
History: Perry is actually a fairly recent addition to the population of Ryme city, having moved from the Kalos region two months ago with his Espurr to get away from growing family problems. His first attempt to start fresh in a new place failed spectacularly, as he had moved out to Ryme in the first place after being offered a job with a start up company that flopped in the first month, leaving Perry unemployed and too poor to simply break the lease on his new apartment and travel to a different region. He tried not to let this get him down, and instead, did his best to "reinvent himself." Up until that point, he had simply been going by Byron, but chose to give the far less imposing nickname Perry a go instead.
He started branching out with his job applications, and eventually he got a call back from the RCPD, who were in need of several new front desk receptionists in light of recent events. He'd never worked with law enforcement at any capacity before, but he could think of no better way to get to know his new home (and help it out) than by helping its people.

Death's Spook

Name: Sycorax Grimm
Age: 53
Gender: Female
Resident or Visitor: Visitor
Occupation: Senior Vice President of Human Resources of Megans Technology
Appearance: Sycorax is a woman of average height and the build of a runner. Her pale skin is notable for how well maintained it is: the most common guess for her age is 37. Her eyes are dark brown, and seem to have a quality that makes people uneager to look at them for long. Her straight, shoulder length brown hair has slight amounts of gray at the roots (the main indication of her looking older than she appears). She constantly wears a black designer pantsuit that is clearly personally tailored and is worth more than some cars, alongside a similarly expensive set of heels. She always wears the slightest hint of really high quality, personally commissioned perfume.
Personality: As senior vice president of human resources in a large corporation, Sycorax has an acutely refined talent for two things: understanding people's competencies, and understanding how best to get them on board with what she wants them to do. In a corporate context, this has led her to have great success in hiring competent people. In a more policy making context, she has been the person who is primarily responsible for pushing Megan Corp's agenda in Ryme City: she knows intuitively which politicians are critical to have on her side, and how best to convince them to support the organization's agenda. Conversely, she also has an acute sense of when something (or someone) is futile, which has aided her greatly when it comes time to fire someone.
History: Not many people seem to have a good idea of what Sycorax is like in her personal life. In her professional life, however, her rise through Megans Corp was extremely notable: she got promoted through the ranks very quickly to where she is now. This was aided both by great professional competence and an intuitive understanding of office politics. Further, there is speculation that the only reason she has not risen further in the company has nothing to do with inability and everything to do with disinterest. Her policies are usually implemented in the company anyway, as she always has the ear of her nominal superiors, was involved in hiring essentially all of her subordinates (both those who eventually report to her at some remove and not), and has made herself indispensable enough that few people would be willing to cross her in the office.

Name: Kris Douglas
Age: 26 years
Gender: Female, will use she/her or they/them pronouns
Resident or Visitor: Resident
Occupation: Part-time clerk to a grocery chain, part-time student aiming to become a Pokemon Professor or aide to one.
Appearance: Kris stands at about 5’7”, with short brown hair and brown eyes and sparse freckles, and round glasses. They’re a a bit chubby, often wearing a light yellow t-shirt, green jacket, blue jeans, and comfortable sneakers. She actually really likes earrings and nail polish, and has been trying to do patterns herself on her nails. She tends to like greens and yellows in said patterns.
Personality: Kris doesn’t do very well with conflicts. She likes it when things stay in a routine. She likes it when things happen with minimal stress. She likes it when things remain how they did yesterday, because then she knows what to expect, and she knows how to deal with it. But when things start becoming more emotional and intense, when things get emotional and intense, she can’t think logically. She has some issues with anxiety, executive dysfunction, and rejection sensitive dysphoria. She’s sometimes had meltdowns and shutdowns, but her partner Pokemon was specifically assigned to her to help with that.
Kris is struggling to prove to herself that she can survive on her own, but is hesitant to move too far away from the support of her parents. She had considered moving away when things started heating up in the Pokemon debate, but can’t bring herself to, as almost everyone she knows lives in Ryme City, and she’s scared she wouldn’t be able to find a new community or job, or continue her studies, and then leave herself stranded with no way to care for her Pokemon.
She was raised by parents who wanted her to love Pokemon and disapprove of battling. However, recent events have her scared for both her own safety and that of her Pokemon.
She’s still not interested in becoming a trainer or battling, however she wants a way to keep her Pokemon safe if the need arises, but she’s scared of the disapproval of her parents and the possibility of being arrested and having her Pokemon confiscated.
History: Mr. and Mrs. Douglas moved to Ryme City because they believed themselves to be very moral and upright people who loved all Mew’s creatures and condoned neither battling nor trainers. They wished to live in peace and harmony with similar moral and upright people, and tried to raise their daughter to be a similar such person.
For a while, they were quite pleased with their daughter, who while showing a great deal of interest in Pokemon from a young age, never seemed especially interested in battling and training. They did, however, start to get concerned when she began running into issues at school. At around 13, Kris was diagnosed with autism, and assigned a Pokemon to help her deal with meltdowns-- a Kirlia.
Kris, for her career path, eventually decided that, though she still had no interest in battling, she was terribly interested in the moves and abilities of Pokemon, such as how her now-Gardevoir’s telekinesis and empathy worked, and began working to become a Pokemon Professor, after taking a few years to both find a stable home on her own and get a part-time job. She now has an appartment, a part-time job, and is going to start classes at a local university quite soon.
Recently a coworker of Kris’, a resident who was quite pro-Pokeball, has been trying to bring Kris around to the cause. Kris wasn’t quite willing to tell them she wasn’t interested, and as a result, ended up with an empty Pokeball on her hands, which her friend left with her after she ended up admitting there are some benefits to Pokeballs. She’s not sure what to do with the Pokeball, and currently has hidden it under her bed.
Partner Pokemon/Pokemon Team: Mint, female Gardevoir
Other: Mint can use telepathy to communicate with Kris. Kris has discussed the issue with Pokeballs with Mint before, as well as about trainers, but hasn’t yet asked if Mint would like to be captured. Mint has tried to assure Kris in her worries that she wouldn’t be hurt or be made to go rogue, and Gardevoir can defend themselves quite adequately without need of Kris becoming a trainer or acquiring a trainer’s Pokemon.

New information has emerged about RCPD's volunteer "specialist," Liesbet Redwood!
Name: Liesbet “Liz” Redwood
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Resident or Visitor: Visiting from Kanto
Occupation: Professor in Training
Appearance: 5’11” with a standard swimmer’s build type body. Bright green eyes that stand out against her latte toned skin and loosely curled chestnut hair that reaches her shoulders when let out of the high ponytail she usually keeps it pulled back in. Usually seen wearing a lab coat with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows over a pastel green button up she keeps tucked into a pair of khaki capris, but mostly unbuttoned to reveal a brown and cream striped cropped bathing suit top. She keeps her Pokeballs, as well as other equipment in a mostly waterproof, tan colored shoulder bag.
Personality: Cheery and full of energy, Liz can be an absolute handful for people who don't know what to expect from her, though those who are familiar with her aunt know where she gets it from. She does, however, take her duties as a professor in training seriously, and knows far more about water Pokemon, as well as Human-Pokemon relations than most might expect. She's far smarter and more organized than you might expect, but will still confused most people by readily jumping into just about any source of water big enough to swim in. She adores Pokemon as a whole, but has a special spot in her heart for water Pokemon in particular, and is commonly known to warn people not to underestimate "weak" Pokemon--after all, the weakest Magikarp can evolve into the strongest Gyarados as long as they have a trainer or partner who loves and believes in them.
History: Born as the third child of a five child family, Liz spent most of her childhood playing with her siblings and trying to navigate the utter chaos of her household. Growing up in Veridian City meant she spent a good chunk of her childhood surrounded by water, and the Pokemon in it became a source of fascination for the girl, however she initially dreamed of becoming a powerful water-type trainer like the Cerulean City gym leader, Misty. It wasn’t until her aunt, the airheaded Professor Redwood, stopped in for a family visit when Liz was seven that the girl changed her mind and instead set her sights on becoming a professor with a focus on the study of water types. She was offered a chance to start on her goal early when her aunt took up a position with a small lab in Slateport, Hoenn, and jumped at the chance to spend time studying the ocean and its Pokemon with her absentminded aunt.
It was after a particularly bad storm three months after joining her aunt that she met the Magikarp that would become her first Pokemon. Though Liz had a poor opinion of the fish Pokemon (they’re so weak!), she found one stranded on the street outside the lab, and knew her aunt would be upset if she left it alone, so she took it back to the lab to get it some help. What she didn’t count on was her aunt making her spend time with the Magikarp, which she was forced to name (Puddle), and she soon took a larger interest in the dopey fish that eventually evolved into the Gyarados she keeps with her today. Her Vaporeon was a gift from her aunt in the form of an Eevee shortly after she turned ten, and she slowly acquired the rest of her team through travels with her Aunt over the years after becoming the woman’s official assistant.
In more recent years, Liz has stepped away from helping her aunt in order to focus oin gaining her own Professor title and achieve her dreams. She’s spent a fair bit of time in most regions at this point, though she’s spent most of her time back home in Kanto, or in Alola with Professor Kukui. She dreams of eventually moving to Alola full time and studying the abundance of water Pokemon there...as well as working on her Mantine surfing on the side. It’d be pretty cool to become a Mantine surfing champ. In the meantime, though, she’s decided to make a stop in Ryme City to help determine what’s causing Pokemon to go rogue.

Name: Vincent Delacroix
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Resident or Visitor: Visitor
Occupation: Thief
Appearance: Vincent keeps his dark hair buzzed and sports a chin strap for style. Tall and fit, he keeps a lean physique so as to be at peak performance for the job which requires calisthenics. On the job he wears a short sleeve black vest with matching gloves, jeans and ankle length boots. When not on the job he dresses for the occasion. This may entail a black short sleeve Oxford shirt with a red tie and khakis, or a sporty gray collared jacket with red stripes, blue jeans and sneakers.
Personality: Vince is rather resentful but you wouldn’t know it. He tends to be very laid back, treating both adversity and good fortune frivolously. He has a genuine interest in learning about other people, what they’ve experienced and how they think. He began shoplifting at a young age to help his family out, his introduction to a life of crime. Petty offenses lead to still graver sin, and he found a useful accomplice in his first Pokémon, Eevee. He comes to Ryme to take advantage of the city’s political unrest and civil disturbances.

Hmmm, I sense deviance. That does sound likely.
I could also see him being forced to work with others against his will; perhaps blackmailed.
