[Suicune's Fire]

On the outskirts of Salvage Keep in Harbour Valley, a secret clubhouse is available for the Emissaries to take up residence in. Please feel free to discuss anything you like here related to the Stalkers RPG. Remember to always be kind and discuss things calmly. If you have real conflict with another player, please bring them up with me elsewhere. This thread is for friendly discussion, theories, puzzle-solving, and having FUN!

Just a few notes:

You're all wonderful so I wouldn't expect nasty behaviour, but just to cover all bases, all forum rules apply here. Please be civil, be forgiving, and remember that this is just a game.
All new members are welcome! Whether or not you've played Stalkers before, come and gather here in the secluded clubhouse to share insights, findings, and everything in between!
Given the nature of Stalkers, you are perfectly welcome to meta-game. This means drawing conclusions based on your experience as a player, rather than as an Emissary. However, if you prefer to RP, please do!
This thread is useful to use for solving puzzles you come across and discussing them with other Emissaries. You are not required to do so here, however.
If you have any questions that you would like me to answer publicly, please ask them in the Q&A Thread!
You are totally free to make as many separate discussion threads in this sub-forum as you need for working that kind of stuff out. In fact, I highly recommend making threads based on what your thoughts are, the things you find, possible note-taking, and what decisions to make next. Keeping things organized and keeping in close communication with your teammates will definitely help with this game.

Although I do find it impressive that they actually made at least three for every Pokemon (at least up to Gen 7 anyway). Sure, in some cases people only have three to work with, but I still consider that a heck of a feat from a game artwork standpoint.

As for me, my main targets will be going for trying to find busted stuff in abandoned areas. But as wonderful as a Pokemon that Emolga is, the typing is kind of funky for doing interviews. And I don't see too many electric types to chat with, but there are a few out there.

Truly Searching the main section is like searching the exterior, if my memory serves correctly. So, it may also prove useful, and is probably necessary for the most thorough look around the place.

But yeah, Truly the whole number (31) is its own area, then (31a) and (31b) are also their own areas. So, you can choose up to two of those to search if you like. :)

My plan is to search all the underwater areas first, then start talking -- my eye is on Slowbro, we share a type and are both basic stage, and small I think.
By that point I hope to have enough clues, either on my own or from you guys, to interrogate people like Harmony the Lapras. Running the apartments makes her kind of a big shot, right?

Also, if I haven't found any underwater gear by then, I aim to figure out how to purchase some. I expect if there's any underwater zones that need Repair, or Medicine, or even someone new who should be handled with better Diplomacy, I won't be able to do it myself.

But I'm pretty sure the first step is to scout.

Someone pointed out to me that there's Electric-type-only zones! Neo, Emolga are Electric type, right? Do you think you can scout those out for us?

Slowbro isn't basic stage, it evolves from slowpoke. And slowbro might be closer to medium.

That said, asking around Water types with Water types will always yield better results.

I'm checkin' out the library real quick. I might talk to the Haunter during the night cycle, but it'll be a bit difficult since we don't really share typings. Feels more natural though, since I'm spending my day cycle searching the entire thing.

Perhaps its good we found them while we were still full on purity. Those two encounters seemed very similar to each other though, Perhaps they were both caused by the same stalker?

Judging by Cliff the furfrou's info, the mercenary guild has the same kind of shadows that we ran into at the manufacturing plot and the farm. Better note that before going and searching it.

So let's take a look at what Orin told us:

Doesn't sound so threatening, but once the food bursts the stomach and spreads into your other organs, you'll think it is then. Apparently it keeps forcing food down the victim's throat until their body is incapable of containing it any longer, and their flesh starts to split. Or exoskeleton, or whatever.

"Repose, the fluid parasite. Yeah, gross, I know. Sucks the life out of its victims, or more specifically, the moisture. Captures them, probably...ties them down or something, then drains all moisture until they're dry, cracked husks of their former selves. Mummified afterwards just to top it all off. Bodies are just left in random locations.

"There's Payload, the Stalker obsessed with demolitions. Evidence of black powder and bomb shells have been found linked to Payload, whose victims are exploded into bits and pieces, then scooped up and places into little boxes, like sick gifts. They, uh...get delivered to their loved ones. Sick bastard, that one.

"You got Abatis, who seeks out sharp, pointy things and sticks them in its victims. I don't know how they get lured into places where a stabbing with a javelin is possible, but it's happened. First victim was found jammed onto, funny, the Keep's abatis. Goes right the way 'round. Abatis ain't one to show mercy, either--pidove a few days back was littered with needles. Death by a thousand cuts, or, uh, stabby things.

"Gravemeld. Ain't that a creepy name? This one...skins its victims while they still live. Keeps them until they're breathing their last breath, then releases them onto the streets. Can't help but die of pain, shock or infection. Mm, this is why you don't buy real fur.

"Last, Netherfall. I dunno, seems a little try-hard to me. But you won't catch me saying that around a Stalker. This one, well...kind of hard to tell. Victims been turning up with no brains. Surgically removed. I don't know if that's the extent of its efforts, but...seems pretty lackluster if you ask me. I wouldn't be surprised if this thing was testing something on its subjects. Maybe you'll be able to find out more if...more people get murdered. I know that's messed the hell up, but I don't know what else to tell ya.

In physics, Epsilon refers to the strain and physical constraints of a material. For a Stalker, this would connect with the whole being turned into goo kind of thing. Like a twisted experiment to see how much the victim could be constrained into.

I might draw up the puzzle and take a crack at it!
It's a 25x25 grid, and none of the totals on either side ever end up more than 25. This leads me to believe they are probably coordinates, which will spell out letters on symbols on the grid. The only thing is... how do we put them together?

I checked the Picross -- solved as much of it as I could, then stumped, I went to a machine to try to solve the whole thing... it didn't get any farther than I did.

Basically, the rows (horizontal) with the 11 and the 16 have some definite, confirmed spots. Beyond that, the grid (25 x 25) is too large and the numbers too small (lots of 1-5s, but even an 8 doesn't reach a third of the way across -- it's not enough to prove anything).

Suggestion: Buzzswole should grab the Escort/Protect skill ASAP. Being the one (currently) most likely to win a fight, I'd love to see Buzzswole protecting potential hits during the Night. (Good Protects currently include Yasha and Eclipse, skill teachers.)
Also, it'd be great if the Escort could later take, say, Sebbit, to the Gamma Room to investigate. I think there's no rush for that, however...

That seems like it's not worth it (like it could potentially lock information!) but I might have misunderstood!

Seinaru is the holy magic that hails from Utopia. In previous instances where Enthrallers have possessed pokémon and made them into Stalkers, Angels gifted Seinaru to the Emissaries, which allowed them to bless objects and locations for rituals. Seinaru is also capable of curing certain cases of corruption that damage Purity.

How to use:
Simply stat something along the lines of, "I would like to use Seinaru on {Decaying Plants: <Seinaru>}."

I don't think Seinaru can be used to heal damage to Purity... but perhaps in the future it can be used to remove the thing causing damage to Purity.

If the thing you need to obtain is an item, then Clairvoyance will work. As of now, you don't know whether or not you're after an item.

So, everyone, I finally finished all the responses...after spending literally the entire day working on them. xD I'm starting a new job tomorrow which is full-time, so I will not be able to keep up this pace. Worst comes to worst, I might have to cut back the day actions to just be 1, so there's less of a workload at a time for me. - Graffiti at Rusty Shine units (Possible puzzle?)

-We now have 3 "medicine" needs, all of which are buried under some heavy purity damage. Relatedly Blizzie's farm still has Blizzie's house to scour (34a). If we're lucky we might get a clue as to why there are shadows around the exterior/farm.

-Anyone who is a large pokemon should go check out that Iron Maiden at the wellness center.
-There's a Toolbox in the training fields that needs security, and there's no penalties this time so anyone who got hurt earlier if you need an easier mission go for it.
-We were warned about "strange things" happening at the mercenary guild at night. If anyone is going to check it out, make sure you're good on sanity/purity!
-Anyone with repair can go for the Cauldron Madder found at the museum. You'll lose a bit of sanity though so be careful.

-We now have over 50p so someone should go back to Frinottie to buy that Medallion. (I'm assuming we can share the cash, even though its listed under 2 different inventories, this has to be in the day, just mentioning it so it isn't forgotten)

-Also I tried lining up those boxes with the picross puzzle. Its the right size, 25x25 but the boxes don't work with the numbers as far as I can tell. (Possible they're marking spots that aren't filled rather than filled boxes though, so I'll keep poking at it)

Yeah, the red squares are definitely negative space for sure. The bottom row horizontal numbers of 2, 5, and 6 definitely make that clear considering those first four squares are red and would be wrong if they were positive space.

So yeah, I highly recommend just leaving it for now, but as soon as more square overlays come in (which I hope they come in), I'll put them on what's already existing and repost it here. But if it starts getting toward the endgame and we haven't dug up any more overlays, we might need to take another long hard stab at this thing.

Orin was interviewed early. His farm had a corrupted zone (with the injured yungoose) and he gave us the names of the other Stalkers, while leaving out "Epsilon."

Still, I don't think there's any benefit to assassinating him early, rather than waiting and purifying him with the ritual -- if that's how it all works. The Stalkers don't get "more kills" if they're all left around, do they?

Would it be possible to imprison him in some way? [edit: that would just tip them off to our mission, right?] For now, let's not let on that we have a clue pointing to him.

Thing is, I'm not sure who would have a black, fuzzy tail, except for maybe the houndour, who we already spoke to -- and wasn't notably missing his tail. I think it's likely an unnamed NPC, or already deceased.

sammy0295, you are correct that Medicine points only need to be assigned for healing Emissaries. It is assumed that NPCs don’t have stats like you do. Also, Medicine cannot be split between players and NPCs in a single use, because it works differently on both.

LKWayvern Using Diplomacy on someone you think might be a Stalker could have just a regular effect. Going to them with solid, 100% proof might be different, but in general you can assume it'll have regular results. It's certainly not truth serum; it just coaxes the best possible response out of civilians, basically. If you're referring to the fact that Diplomacy often relies on you telling the NPC of your mission to convince them how important their handover of information is, you can just state in any post that you wish to omit those details, but still make a compelling case. :) The more specific you are in interviews, the better!

Also Arrow-Jolteon, I'm not sure what you mean by have a look at the Threatening Card. o: It's not a trapped item so there's nothing that can be done with it.

Announcement: after conferring with my sore wrist and dead-tired brain due to yesterday's 12+ hour slog through the replies for the day action, I will be scaling back the day action number to only 1, rather than 2. I will adjust the actions that take up two slots accordingly.

Free actions such as shopping, equipping or consuming items, will still be completely available and are always an option before you take a proper action. :) There is also an item that allows two actions per round (which can be used at night, too!) which will also remain available. Just not 2 actions per day cycle. I'm so sorry for the massive change-up, but after experimenting with it, I found that it is just completely unsustainable and I'd rather find a way to keep this constantly rolling rather than have it bank up now that I have a full-time job that keeps me out of the house for 11 hours per day, five days a week. ^^;

It's a weak lead but we have so many pokemon to talk to at this point it'll probably sink to low priority.

I'm not sure it counted as a death, because Finichi might've been dead already if the brain was removed and replaced with robotics. This seems pretty clearly connected with the Stalker that removes people's brains, now... but I'm wondering if it's the same person who put the robotics, and note, in there, or if it's two separate people working together?
We could look around places and people related to robotic, machinery, and repairs and ask them about it.

If you're looking for something to do, what do you think about going ahead and learning the Clairvoyance skill from Yasha? Just a note, for things that you can take a look at, you generally have to see an interactive set of brackets like so: {Destroyed Brain Fragments: <Technical>} or something. If there are no brackets, you can assume that it is not a possible action. You can still search the location it happened at, but there is no guarantee for specifics like this.

IDK if anyone else noticed the small writing in the corner of the bloody wall at the murder scene, but in big bold letters it says

PLEASE read the rules (http://www.pokemoncrossroads.com/forum/showthread.php?21999-Stalkers-RPG-Season-4-Rules-and-Gameplay-WARNING-HORROR-THEMES#H) for what things take up actions. MOST THINGS take up a whole action, which means a whole cycle, including using one perk, taking one item to one location, searching one location, interviewing one NPC, etc. The only free actions are:

- Equipping an equippable item (as stated in the Items Directory (http://www.pokemoncrossroads.com/forum/showthread.php?22140-Stalkers-RPG-Item-Directory), equipment has an E: tag in the [] brackets)
- Using a consumable item (ie a berry)
- Shopping
- Trading items. You cannot feed berries to other players or equip them with equipment. Those things are things players must do themselves.
- Finally, Stalker victim investigations. They are only available when made available.

It's perfectly fine to ask me if certain things are possible (such as stopping by to do something "on the way" to something else) but keep in mind that most of these things should be covered in the Rules and Gameplay (http://www.pokemoncrossroads.com/forum/showthread.php?21999-Stalkers-RPG-Season-4-Rules-and-Gameplay-WARNING-HORROR-THEMES#H), including things that take up actions (sorry that the actions you take and the actions available are the same term; it might be better to go off cycles from now on considering you can only do one action per cycle now, except "free actions"). I cannot keep reminding people to read the rules when I already spent hours refining it before launch, and failure to know what actions take up whole cycles may result in people missing out on turns. It's just a game, but you guys should know what you can and cannot do, and should be able to update your posts in time before I get to them. I shouldn't have to keep reminding people or asking them to change it.

Truly you have listed three actions. As said, it's fine to see if things are possible, but all those thing are listed as separate actions in the Rules thread. I would also recommend waiting until you have all the items for a certain location before heading there, otherwise you waste a turn completing only part of the equation. Please edit your post with the single action you wish to do. Also, the spear you wanted to equip is an item, not a piece of equipment.

EmeraldSky Valley Wellness Centre has already been searched twice. Please, please, refer to the second post of the Main Action and Team Status thread (http://www.pokemoncrossroads.com/forum/showthread.php?22054-Stalkers-RPG-Main-Action-and-Team-Status-SEASON-4&p=299395&viewfull=1#post299395) for areas not yet searched. I spend time updating them after every player's turn. Also, you can only do one action per cycle now, so please edit your post with your preferred action.

...do you guys all just want to automatically dump any personal inventory you dont intend to use immediately, at the start of any turn, into the team inventory? We have three people with the resourceful trait, so I'm glad I didn't pick that one. But it means I'm going to have to shift my plans (was initially planning to scavenge & forge to supply the team with all the money/items they might need).

So I'm thinking at this point maybe I *ought* to go Stealthy, and aim to do Investigations as well.

Okay so, in the traits list, it does say Stealth is useful for Investigate, and in investigate it further elaborates on why--


Because this means you will be tailing your target almost all day and all night, you will be required to make a stealth check (a percentage roll) to see if you remain hidden. You will need to exceed 50% or above to remain hidden, and your dodge rate is taken as your stealth rate. These checks are made automatically and do not require user input, and will be made once at the end of each Investigate. If you pass the stealth check and remain hidden for the entire investigative process, your target does not spot you and you will return back to base with all the information you were after. If you fail the stealth roll, you will still get the information you learned, but the pokémon you are tailing notices you and either confronts you or flees, based on their personality. This may result in a -1 to your rapport score with that pokémon. This negative effect does not affect any other Emissary's rapport with this pokémon.

LUCKY STRIKE: It's possible to get a "Lucky Strike" with Investigate. This will happen when you use Investigate on a pokémon and it just so happens that they're either the Stalker who makes an attack during the Night Cycle, OR they just so happen to be the victim during that particular Night Cycle. If you manage to pass your stealth check and you happen to be following either the attacking Stalker or the victim, you will witness the murder and will be 100% sure of the attacking Stalker's identity. If you fail the stealth check, the pokémon will notice you before they attack or are attacked, and you will not know if they are a Stalker or a Stalker's victim.

Big reason I thought Old Lace would be the best fit was because stealth rolls are made, but if you've got high hp/sanity/purity, then I have no real complaints, seeing as we have a pretty short window for this.

I wouldn't say so. I think at least one person went to investigate the body, two people went to learn Rescue/Escape and rescue Lillian (I believe knowing Rescue/Escape grants you 50% aptitude, so two of them should grant 100). So while things certainly could have gone better, I'm confident we'll get Lillian back.
And hey! We got another Corruption's eye out of the way, and opened up another for purification, and we'll be getting those results on Orin back!

Heya fam, I will try to get out some posts tonight but I have not long gotten home after a bit of an ordeal after work. I was heading to the train station and came across two girls helping out an injured rainbow lorikeet (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c2/Rainbow_lorikeet.jpg), whose foot was mangled and bleeding and it was calling out to its friend up on a high wall, and was getting swooped by mean other birds. I ended up holding the lorikeet (bit me a tad, but I don't mind; I've owned a cockatiel before XD) and one of the girls called a vet, then called an uber, and the three of us ubered to the vet and gave the bird over. Not sure if poor little Billie will make it, but the vet said they'll call us tomorrow to tell us how Billie is doing. So yeah, I made friends with two random people. XD But it delayed me getting home by almost an hour and a half, which means by the time I eat and get ready for bed, I'll barely have any time before I have to sleep. And I do need time to wind down otherwise I'm wired and awake in bed for a while haha.

So yeah if I can't get out anything tonight, I'll endeavour to complete all the posts tomorrow after work--Lillian's rescue, people resting, and Madder's investigation ENGAGE!!!

In other news, making that spreadsheet and then searching the thread for mentions of individual pokemon types or names has really helped me to figure out which pokemon could need an interview! I'm not done filling out my document yet, but there are a few that are hitting the top of the list;

Delta the Flareon-- is a guard working with Silcress, apparently has a skill we could unlock, and is part of one of our current delivery quests. She felt sick and skipped out on a night at the tavern recently, and her room has not yet been searched.

Vye the Bisharp-- Seems like a mercenary type (ask about the guilds corruption) apparently has a special skill. Recently seen at he tavern with scrafty and lycanroc (in the same social circle as Silcress)

Dee'Mang the Pikipek -- Has potentially literally SEEN the demolition stalker. Is a child, blind in one eye, and abused by their adoptive parent. Someone needs to help them open up. Unlikely to be a threat.

Yurtag the Palpitoed -- Three seperate people have reacted badly to this pokemon. Shilamora told them to get food other than seaweed. He was aggressive to Miyanta for not hiring him, and sent death threats to Terrs cafe. Possibly a link to the stalker related to food. Approach with caution.

Aliema the Helioptile -- Friends think she's acting weird and blowing them off. Does electronics type stuff with Marisha? (though Marisha didn't mention them?). Potentially hostile.

Ok, as long as you remember to submit! I thought I would share a typing with Dee'Mang but you're both basic stage so if you're keen then go ahead!

The colours are like... urgency/danger/helpfulness I guess? I didn't write up a code for it. Pokemon who have been acting strangely, who have solid leads on stalkers, or skills we might need to unlock, etc. etc. I guess it was my way of trying to visualize priority. If you can think of a better system let me know! I know I can drop and drag whole rows up and down the spreadsheet but I fiddle around with that a lot when I'm trying to consider which typings I could chat with/fight and not be absolutely pummeled.

I'm not going to write things down as 1/1 1/2 1/3 etc.
According to the person actually running the game, the stage categories are basic, middle, final, or single. So, I'm trying to use exactly those words in the spreadsheet, in the hopes that it matches up with what they have. Given that you can do either, you're welcome to do that or eat a berry and visit Willow. Btw, you can do as many free actions as you like, so you could buy heaps of berries with the team funds and eat them all before going out to interview Willow should you wish. Or, you still have a sitrus berry in your possession and a bunch of oran berries in the Team Inventory if you don't wanna spend money. I'll leave it up to you. :)

Imeida will attack you-- just like how silcress attacked me when I came at him with diplomacy. She's crazy with the medallion.
Unless you think you'll win that fight (imeida has a lot of HP, but yeah you have type advantage!) I would say stay away from her. Regardless, even if you win the battle it doesn't count as an interview and you'll have to talk to her AGAIN on another turn.

More damage means pokemon fall faster, but you have to be hitting them in the first place -- so anyone with the flee stance or tactic, a weapon is useless as you wont use it.
More HP is probably beneficial to smaller pokemon with less HP, or those with low HP because they arent fully healed? Also padding is probably GOOD for those in a flee stance since running isnt always successful and you'll take damage as you attempt to flee (without dealing any damage)

I feel like we have a bunch of orbs- maybe headbands would be useful too somehow? I'm not sure how they fit into battle strategy.

I think 72 hours is probably ok, considering that we often get updates throughout that time limit- if we put in an action within the first few hours, theres normally a response before the time bracket closes! I feel like it gives suicune a little more time to write out replies, as well as giving some of our busier/more forgetful members more of a chance to submit.

The code strip to help fill in with letters which I used to crack the message; "Strange Code Key", was found beside Lillians cage during the rescue from Gravemeld, near the library. This happened BEFORE Vex gave Nicklefool the coded note.

If you feel like exploring, the Murky Pond has a mural that could help us find a stalker, theres a corruption zone in the rubbish tip west we haven't checked out, and theres some very smelly houses down at rusty shine units we might find another patch of skin in.

If you want to talk to pokemon, Vye the Bisharp might be a good match, and other pokemon think he has a special skill? Also Delta the flareon or Orolaph the magby if you want to do a safe interview AND complete a quest. If you're feeling risky, Yurtag the paliptoed has pretty much every cafe owner mad at him so hes probably an angry fellow- but he might be good to get a read on.
