Hello everyone and welcome once again to PXR's Secret Santa Event 2019!

This event is a gift exchange (be sure to keep who you get as a secret)! Sign ups begin now and will close on December 4th. After signing up, you will be given another member’s username who signed up as well (on the 5th of December). This person is who you will be sending a gift to. Since you signed up, that means you will be receiving a gift from another Secret Santa! It's a surprise every year just who you may get! Be sure to watch what everyone else lists for ideas. The gifts will be delivered the day of or after Christmas, depending on the event manager's schedules.


Note: Everyone's gift will be posted at the end of the event for everyone on the forum (and beyond) to view.
If you are not comfortable with a public display of your work, please let either myself, Chakramaster know when submitting your gift (or any time after that).

There are 2 categories (plus a special one). Like last year, you may participate in both if you wish. This means you can send one or both of the following, depending on what you're interested in:

If you would like to send a gift through Wifi, sign up for this category! You will send and received a gift through Wifi. Please note that to participate, you MUST have access to Wifi/Internet, a 3DS, and a copy of your 7th generation game*. You have to be able to connect to Wifi and trade your gift. This category may take a little longer for everyone to get your gift, so please be patient. Your gift must be submitted by December 21st. You are not required to send out a perfect IV/EV or even a shiny. You can even send more than one Pokémon if you want!

*This portion does NOT include the latest Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield as these games are still brand new and not everyone may have access to these just yet. This section is up to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon ONLY!.*

A Few General Rules:



Please keep the username of the person you are gifting (your recipient) to yourself! It is meant to be a surprise.
You MUST submit some form of gift to Chakramaster by December 21st. Please don't leave it until the last minute!*
You may send more than one gift if you like.
Your gift MUST somehow be relevant to your recipient. This is easy to do, as you may include anything that your recipient included in their sign-up post such as their favorite Pokémon or color.

*If you cannot get a gift together in time for the December 21st deadline, please send a PM to myself, Chakramaster ahead of time, preferably by the 20th if you are sure you cannot make the deadline. This will give me a few days to get a replacement gift for whoever is missing out. You will NOT be banned from next year's Secret Santa if you are unable to procure a gift and let me know in time; you will, however, be banned from next year's event if you tell me too late (21st or later). It's just not good and doesn't look well with people leaving it till the last minute, as it is unfair on multiple people.

- If you need to drop out or cannot get a gift prepared, let myself, Chakramaster know soon as you can! There's no penalty for having to drop out and letting me know. You will only be banned from next year if you give me no notice and your gift has not been submitted on time!

The Awakening of a Memory

"You looked pretty happy when you received the Switch version of 'The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening' in the mail..." Ash mused as he and Misty followed Brock upstairs to his room. "I only ever played the DX version--and I've tried to keep away from spoilers just in case I get a copy for Christmas too."

"Bad memories of Braviary's Tower..." Misty shuddered as she plopped on a beanbag chair, sending an array of Pokemon dolls tumbling to the floor. "I very nearly threw my electric blue Game Boy Color at the wall!"

She smiled as she retrieved a Flygon neck pillow. "So, what's the big differences besides nicer graphics and updated music?" she asked as she draped the Flygon pillow around her head.

"Does the old Secret Samba trick still work?" Ash wondered as Brock took a picture of his own copy of the black Game Boy cartridge and the tiny Switch card together.

"From what I have read and seen on MyTube, yes, the old trick still works." Brock replied as he texted the picture to his family, then inserted the new game card into his Switch.

After retrieving a Pro Controller near the TV, he wasted no time in christening one file "Link", then typing "ZELDA" on the second file, just as he had done on his electric green Game Boy Color many times before.

Ash's eyes widened as the familiar Latin infused version of the iconic video game theme started playing. "Wow...they even got real instruments to play the song!"

"This is just like how I imagined the bleepy Game Boy version to sound in my head!" Misty smiled, grooving to the beat and the trumpet playing the familiar heroic melody.

After deleting the "ZELDA" file, Brock highlighted the "Link" file. "Shall we start our grand adventure?"

"Yeah!" Ash and Misty replied at nearly the same time.

"Pika!" Pikachu agreed as he snuggled against a Jolteon doll Ash had picked up from the floor.

"What a relief!" Brock read Marin's text in a spot on mimic of Misty's voice. "I thought you'd never wake up!"

"Brock really going to voice act all the characters?" the real Misty wondered as Brock continued reading the text, using his mimic of Misty for Marin, and a lower pitched version of Mario for Tarin.

"If you just want to read the text yourselves, I'll keep it quiet." Brock replied as himself. "I just felt reading the characters' lines in character would give you guys a little more immersive experience."

"Keep doing voices! I kinda wonder what kind of voices you'd give the quirkier characters." Ash suggested.

"Or the chattier monsters, or the Pokemon of the Pokemon Village." Misty suggested.

"Okay, I'll keep voice acting unless both of you specifically ask me to stop." Brock assured his companions. "But we're not going to get very far without a means to defend ourselves."

"So let's go find a sword!" Misty smiled.

"Okay...we have a sword, we got the Tail Key...let's head for Tail Cave." Brock suggested as he guided his Link south of Mabe Village. "I do know there is a rudimentary dungeon maker in the Switch version, but I don't know where it is yet. The map is a bit more expansive, and you can make notes on it."

"I do like how the sword and the shield have dedicated spaces..." Ash noticed on the pause screen.

"I'm pretty sure the Power Bracelet and Pegasus Boots have dedicated spaces too--so less time fumbling in the menus and more time adventuring." Brock explained as his Link made his way inside the cave.

Misty smiled as Brock carefully yet quickly make his way through the cave. "Memories coming back to you at all?"

"Yeah...I'm actually surprised by how much of the Game Boy version I remember!" Brock replied.

He balked as an enemy sent him towards a hole, inches away from the cave leading to the Roc's Feather. "Et tu, muscle memory?" Misty grinned as Brock's Link respawned at the passage's entrance with one heart left.

"Yeah..." Brock sighed. "Forgot the shield has its own dedicated button in this version..." He let that hang as he finally obtained the Rock's Feather. "The good news is, now we can pick up this floating heart, so we can avert the GAME OVER screen...at least for now."

By the powers of deduction, I believe I know who my santa is. The pic is uploaded via tumblr, and done in watercolours as opposed to digital. By this logic, there is only one user I know who could have made this; was it Arrow-Jolteon?

Hello everybody! I received two Trapinch from Lychee, my Secret Santa. They are both males and they are called Gregory and Trevor. When I got them, they were holding a Big Nugget and a Comet Shard respectively, which was very thoughtful of Lychee.
They both have a nature that increases Attack and decreases a defensive stat (Gregory is lonely and Trevor is naughty), which is pretty good.
Regarding abilities, Gregory has Arena Trap and Trevor has Hyper Cutter. That doesn't really matter because both abilities will become Levitate when the Trapinch become Flygon. However, if I don't evolve Gregory, his ability could be helpful in order to catch Pokemon that can escape from the battle (such as Abra and Wimpod).
As for IVs, Trevor's IVs are slightly better than Gregory's, but both Trapinch have average IVs because they were caught in the wild without using the "call for help" method.
Also, I really appreciate the fact that Lychee caught Gregory in a Friend Ball.

I also sent Sahira her gifts, and she sent me some great Pokemon in return for the gifts : Noibat, Rockruff, Mimikyu, Bounsweet, Gastly, Gible and Roggenrola. All of them have nicknames, at least 5 perfect IVs, good natures and eggmoves, and they are in unusual Balls. Gible even has Rough Skin (hidden ability)!
