Welcome to the Shiny Hunters Association! This is a club for those of you out there who love hunting for shinies ! This club is a place for you to talk about your shiny captures, tell us how long it took you, what metod you used. Also Im going to post a weekly challenge for those of you who want to play along. In Pokemon Emerald, I came across a shiny Tentacool while surfing, In pokemon SoulSilver, me and a friend of mine done an egg trade, when I hatched the egg it was a shiny charmander!, then of course theres the red gyarados that everyone has in HGSS, and just today I managed to hatch a shiny chimchar in my pokemon Y, after using the masuda method and hatching around 80 eggs!

That doesnt seem so bad. Ive been looking for hours in the friend safari..I almost feel like breeding would be faster.

I found three shiny pokemon yesterday! I had been looking for a week for just one ! Yesterday was a lucky day and Im thankful for that !

Currently I'm MM breeding for Amaura. I'm at work and breeding doesn't require much of my attention. Also, neither of my games are at a point that wild shiny hunting would be anything less than futile.

Lol, no, not yet. I started my Y game and got so distracted by breeding that I kinda lost the thread of the story. I decided to start my X gme instead and re-breed my Dark team after I finish X.

lol you got to much going on ! The Friend Safari is a great tool for both breeding and shiny pokemon!

User groups are pretty complicated to make. Not only that but making one for catching a shiny might not look good on me ..LOL It would be cool to have an icon or badge available for it though.

I have a shiny Litwick I can't wait to port over from my BW games. Along with so many others from previous generations. I've been carrying a FireRed shiny Parasect with me for ages. XD

To be honest, I've been in and out of that safari for the past month or two looking for a shiny Lampent or Pumpkaboo xD I got lucky today. And I'm working on breeding a shiny Beldum, but that's not going very well. I've made like five boxes of them thus far.

When I start chaining, I usually only go three patches over rather than four. Hasn't failed me yet! X and Y doesn't have many good places to chain though. :(

I went through chaining videos and to be honest it drove me crazy...lol The shaking grass threw me off because I though I was clicking on fast moving grass but really I was not. So I kept breaking the chain after six or seven pokemon..lol


Also thanks, the thing has an adamant nature. I havent used one before so im hoping it runs a set with adamant nature.

Nah, you did a good job explaining. I just gotta learn to recognize the patches more. I know there are three stages, slow, medium and fast (not sure thats the term for each). I also know that you have to go for the same patch you took the first time and its gotta be at least four away. I read that if you go off the grass you break the cycle. So finding a good patch to pratice is was hard because I wasnt sure if the smaller ones were better.

Big patches, like the one near Camphrier on Route 5, are the best. You can go out of the grass, but you have to keep the shaking patches on the screen, so you can't go far. :P Super Repels, Leppa Berries, and a Syncher (optional) are good things to have while chaining. :)

I'm actually in the same boat, only you've found more in X and Y than I have and I've caught 4 since red and blue (because of my ridiculous Virizion SR'ing). I once spent about the same amount of time (6 months) trying to breed for a shiny Bulbasaur with no success. That was disappointing.

Very true, but as the others have said it could take up to 1300 eggs to get that shiny.

The funny thing is I always catch them when I tell myself that's it no more and it's usually the next one. I had to go through about 328 before I caught my shiny.

Thought you couldnt get the shiny charm on x and y? also how is possible for you to get those pokemon through gts. When I search for pokemon on gts it does not even give me the option to request any of those pokemon?

I WISH I had a Ditto with perfect IV's. What started it basically was you get Pokemon from the Friend Safari that have at least two perfect IV's, maybe more. You just breed Pokemon from there using the Destiny Knot and/or Power Items. Just keep going until you get the proper IV spread you want. I already have a perfect IV Bulbasaur pair, including a perfect female Modest Bulbasaur with Chlorophyl and the egg moves Giga Drain and Ingrain.

Oooooh, the blue pentagon means it was caught/bred in Kalos. That shiny Milotic was just transferred from Gen V. :P

I'll still be around, though, and I'm still breeding for a shiny Protean Froakie in my off time, like when I'm at work.

By the way, I actually kept track of how many eggs I was hatching a couple days ago. I got 80 hatched and it was kind of a slow day cause I had things to do at work. If we assume I've been getting around the same amount each day for three weeks, I've bred roughly 1,680 eggs with one Torrent shiny in there somewhere.

They're already bred. :) I'm in the process of EV training them and I'll be ready to go. I'm excited to actually finish it, as long as I don't get horribly distracted by breeding again, and with a team that's bred the way I want them. It just feels so wrong to go through a game without an Umbreon.

I do believe they made it much easier to evolve Feebas in Gen 6, I'll link the Serebii page for you, so you can have a look http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/349.shtml, turns out you need to trade a feebas while it's holding a prism scale or level it up with maximum beauty, so if anyone wants to get milotic, you might want a friend to help you.

Well now that I've finally got my hands on a spanish ditto, I'm all set for any challenges in the future so long as the pokemon I have for the challenge isn't spanish, which isn't really a problem since all I need to do is breed and hatch one of that pokemon and I'll have a pokemon from a different region for the Masuda method to work.

Holy crap! I guess I should start breeding my Chespin soon considering it took me about 2 and a half days to finally get my shiny Chimchar, although I didn't have the hatching O-Power nor was I constantly breeding eggs considering I was half-way through victory road.

Edit: Hey guys, does anyone know if the Amulet coin and the Luck Incense stacks in Pokemon X & Y, I know it didn't in Gen IV but I haven't tried since then, right now I'm money grinding in cafe Le Wow to save up for some Clothing that looks cool.

I believe the shiny charm effects ALL wild encounters, according to the english description of the shiny charm in XY, it says "wild" encounters, meaning that eggs will still have the same chance of being shiny, however in the japanese descriptions, It says no such thing, which is why there are people doing research on smogon, where they are as a group, going to hatch around 50K eggs with people using the masuda method and have the shiny charm, if it infact works, that means there would be a 6/2048 chance of finding a shiny, which is a phenomenal difference, to show you how much easier it would be, if the shiny charm works with the masuda method the chances are a 1 in 341 and 1/3 chance of getting a shiny via hatching an egg.

Blooming hell, I've hatched about 230 eggs and still nothing, last night I had to take a break from pokemon Y and start playing the legend of zelda : a link between worlds because all I was doung was riding up and down route 7, now I don't even notice when all of thr eggs have hatched its become so repetitive, but I'm not giving up yet!

Well, if it were gen 4, there would be no way that I would he doing the masuda method, mainly because you, couldn't just release a whole box of pokemon within 30 seconds, thank god they made releasing pokemon much quicker, not to mention they doubled the base chances of finding shiny pokemon after they raised it in gen 4.

Uhh, mine is 1693-2107-3005, on a completely different note, I've been walking around so much that my chespin that I left at the day care centre, has managed to level up 57 times in the time that I've been trying to get a shiny, it was only level 5 when I left it there, considering I got it from a trade, im going to try using a pokemon that I've bred instead to see if that changes anything.

For regular Bank legendaries? Heavens no, I've seen all of those. xD For Event Legendaires, yes. For example, I'd trade my Shiny Growlithe for an Event Legendary I don't have because I'm willing to trade Growlithe. I'm not willing to trade Delphox or Sylveon, for instance. :P

I started trading legendaries on the GTS when I got an Azelf for a Barbaracle. I traded Azelf for Mesprit, then Mesprit for Uxie, then Uxie for Regirock...etc until I had them all registered. I ended up with Ho-Oh, which I traded for Gliscor. Then stuff happened and I got Latias, which I traded for Thundurus. I now have Shiny Thundurus, Tornadus, Victini, and Meloetta.

Once you get your hands on one legendary, you can get them all. :D

So, my mom was playing Pokemon Y just horde battling and a couple of days ago she ran into her first ever shiny - a shiny Foongus and decided to give it to me (since she doesn't care much for them, and, I gave her a shiny Weepinbell :3). Today, while horde battling again she found her second ever shiny - Foongus... XD My mom doesn't know why at all the little shroom keeps coming to her in their shiny form. XD So, she caught it and decided to give it to my brother since he finds it impossible to find shinies. :P

So, in all, yay for two shiny Foongus! XD
