Stalkers RPG Season 5 General Chat Thread (Emissary Hideout - The Abandoned Steel Mill)

[Neo Emolga]

It’s your home away from home for now. These series of buildings used to be an industrial steel mill and foundry for manufacturing metallic building materials such as steel beams, pipes, ducts, and many other metallic components. They’ve been all but abandoned and forgotten about by the rest of the Exacta citizens, but perhaps you can make it become something that makes all the difference against the Stalkers. Here, there is a barracks, a supply area, and cooking area. Meanwhile, there’s some empty areas that might one day come in handy for other uses beyond providing the basics…

This is the place for Emissary chat and for discussing plans, tactics, what to do next, and can also be used for working out puzzle solutions (if you submit them here, please mention me so I can check the solution!)

Just some easy to follow ground rules:

Be kind, be friendly, be considerate! You're all on the same team, it's not a competition. Abyss is the enemy, not your fellow Emissaries!
New members are ALWAYS welcome! I understand that while we have a few Stalkers RPG veterans who have been with us since Season 1, I get that new people are always coming by. And that's still awesome, it's great to have everyone along!
You are totally welcome to meta-game and do some role play in here. Heck, we've even had fan art made, so that's totally welcome as well! Also, you never know who else may swing by this old steel mill while your mission is ongoing...
If you have any questions, please ask them in the Q&A thread! Although if you forget by chance, not a biggie, I'll still try to answer them.
You are totally welcome to make additional discussion threads beyond this one. It can be useful if you just want your own personal staging area to review notes, or make a poll in order to work out a team decision. That's been done in the past!

Also, you're totally free (and encouraged!) to use PMD portraits whenever you speak.

"Seems like we might have one or two pokemon with each ability so far- we will definitely have to co-ordinate some tasks once we start finding things are locked off. But first and foremost, the townspeople! I think we should go to them and ask about dangerous areas or calm safe areas- we need to know what we are getting into!"

He puts a tiny paw to his head in thought.
"Does going out to chat to resident pokemon of the same type, who you will get along with, sound like a good first step, crew?"

I'm a little leery about interviews--we don't know who could potentially be a Stalker...and ridding ourselves of the Stalkers is just step one....

"Alright, fair! There certainly are ways for interviews to go wrong... that said- how will we find pokemon to help and teach us if not by talking? I'm a big fan of talking, as you can probably tell by the way I talk a lot..."

Nico trailed off, remembering that not everyone was as talented at being chatty. He felt sure he could de-fuse a volatile situation no matter who he talked to, but that was part of being Diplomatic.

"Do you want to explore the city straightaway instead, Lita? You've got skills that might help you out there, as long as it's not too dangerous."

He frowned slightly "I'm just worried about the OMEN affected pokemon out there being zombies and chimeras, as well as the stalkers. This is a pretty evil place!" He considered Litas stance. "...But I'm sure you can outrun them. You're quick, and won't try to fight like I'm tempted to, ahahahaaa!"

"Yeah, maybe you and I can talk to townsfolk and eventually find out how to hire a few mercenaries, if the OMEN pokemon start giving Lita trouble when she goes out..."

Nico looked up at the grand Ho-Oh, also having forgotten his name and being too intimidated to ask.
"No mercy, got it! If I happen accross something that needs fighting, I'll give it one of these! And one of these!" He swung his paws around, boxing the air enthusiastically in a cute and ineffective way.

Two things.

One, I made some extra clarifications on the Battling section. Battle Stance applies to Hostile Battles only, it doesn’t apply to Sparring Battles. In a Sparring Battle, your character will always fight until they hit 0 HP, but they will never be killed from a Sparring Battle if they lose. Just wanted to clarify that. These kinds of battles are mostly as side mission things or to possibly win free items from an NPC. You’ll see a note (Open for Sparring) next to the NPC’s name if they’re a Pokémon you can spar with.

Two, the other thing is with Money (Sochas), purchasing, and stores.

Before you can buy goods, you have to search around to see what kinds of stores are out there. Some are in pretty obvious spots, others are hidden. On the Main Action and Team Status thread (when it goes up on the 22nd), there will be a section for Exacta City Marketplace which will list all the discovered stores, their prices, and where they can be found.

When you buy things, you need to state what store you’re buying from, because two stores may sell the same thing, but one may be selling it for cheaper than another but involves going into a dangerous area while the other will not. And on that note, yes, if you shop in a dangerous area, you might run into some bad company, so you may want to bring shopping buddies along. The other note I’m adding is that you can only buy items during the Day Cycle. At night, all the stores are closed. In addition to that, if a vendor or merchant is killed by the Stalkers (or from another source), there is a chance it may completely close down their business entirely and you will no longer be able to buy from them again. Some stores are safe from that kind of treatment as they’re run by Pokémon not on the suspect list. Not many, though!

So yep, the rules have been updated with additional details that clarify these points, since they were kind of vague and missing before or were only implied.

The rest of the giant of a pokemon awkwardly squeezed into the building, then curled up in the corner, being carfule not to crush anyone.
Once it was settled, it clapped it's hand/claws together.

"So, planning time. I think first thing we should do is check out if there's any locations like a police station or Aurorawatch bases. We should talk to those people first, and the fastest way of finding out who they are is to ask at their HQ.
Second would be finding any shopkeepers. Aside from selling items, they'll have more interactions with the other citizens, so be more likely to know any suspicous roumours or such."

Exacta Refuge Area = No Risk, Northern Reach = Some Risk, Southern Reach = Higher Risk

"The espeon who lives at this location must know something divine and wonderful! They live in a mildly dangerous area, but we still might be ok if we visit them at night... Does anyone want to go talk to Syrax the Espeon? If nobody does, I'll visit them tonight." He left a little purple flag next to Syrax's name.

He frowned and looked at another location that required diplomacy to get into, The Exacta Military Compound. Maybe Misty would do that later? He didnt know; the bulbasaur had already rushed off to the mall, which made him chuckle.

"Theres a mark next to another Cinccino's name, like theres something important, or a quest they have. I'm sure we will get along swimmingly! ...I'll go to them, for now!"

Is it really that wise to interview a lone Pokemon in a practically deserted area at night? I do wonder. In the meantime I will go and interview the royalty of Exacta. Perhaps they will be able to tell me something of importance.

"I'm observant, not wise! You have a point! Maybe I'll go together with someone who wants to Search that specific area, and we can cover each others backs if something goes wrong?"

Nico was super super excited about the coded page found at the mall.
"Oh my gosh! Another language! So many new words! Such a cool new way to chat! Just you wait, i'll be writing my reports in this elegant new script as soon as ... as soon as I figure out what each symbol means..." He scrutinized the Magus Pages and made a copy to look at in free time later.
"Oh, and someone who knows Seinaru ought to use their skill on that other thing- the star map?" He mumbled and waved a paw, but was obviously much less interested.

OOC: Heck I love codes- did I tell you guys that I printed the last stalkers code writing style script and then used it to write coded demon messages to some DnD players of mine? We almost became fluent in it! I wrote a rhyming prophecy in it! The game in 2019 was a HUGE influence on my campaign creation in that game, and made four more people so amused and pleased! I'm SO HAPPY to see a new code! Woooo! ... so I may have gone and cracked it at work! Well, nearly.

Nico mumbles and makes markings on his bit of paper, frowning slightly and sticking his tongue out.
"Uhhh, guys? I just got through the first couple of sentences of this, and it's looking a little... um... grim?"
His page had words like 'prophecy'and 'critical moment' written on it, so he furiously started working faster.
It was going to take a while to decode the whole two pages!

1942 Anyways, we’ll need about 225 Sochas to get all the Berries we need, and that blade might come in real handy! If anyone has Diplomacy, they should try and get that.

"Ooh, a Sudoku puzzle!" Lycellus eyes lit up at the sight of the paper, that had been given to Nia, only to quickly give way to dissapointment. "But it appears most of it is blotted out. I wonder if it's solvable in this condition... Hmm" The eternatus quickly marked out the numbers on one of the walls, muttering about numbers and making marks every now and again.

Back from her interview with Samona, Nia holds the Sudoku puzzle she had been given her outstretched in her paws, twisting it every which way to get a better look at the numbers. She hears an exclamation beside her and looks up to see a large Eternatus. Nia jumps in surprise.

Oh, Lycellus! Oddly enough, I did not see you there.

She smiles faintly and holds out the piece of paper for Lycellus to see.

Would you like to get a closer look? I can make neither heads nor tails of it. This blotted part makes it hard to see the rest of the numbers clearly and it gives me a positively dreadful feeling.

Nia paused in thought, head tilted, looking at a row of diagonal boxes to the right hand side of the puzzle.

These squares here look to be outlined in red, do you see? Perhaps they form some kind of code? If only we could see the rest of the puzzle...

Nico happily waves his copy of the pages around in the air like a scientist making a new discovery.
"Eureka! Hoorah! I got it!"
He cleared his throat and read out his findings.

"DAWNLIGHT RECKONING SUMMONING

The moment is approaching for all of us.
Never before have we attempted such a
thing. But it is prophecy. We cannot give in
at this most critical moment.

The battalions must be called in. Abyss must
not know that we have been preparing, So
let them think we have abandoned the

Kono mentioned the process to me. We need
a celestial channel with our realm to be
able to call in the battalion at the precise
moment and location. Crossing dimensions
will be a must and we have made sure we
prepared the channel map.

Ethereal infusion is another necessary,* but
it has been a challenge.* Never before has
a crossing of this magnitude been
accomplished before, but we still believe
it is possible. We will need a large
ethereal infuser as well as a source of
ethereal flame to power this channel. It will be the only way we can create such a
large portal bridge between our realm
and the living.

Lastly the ritual which Kono mentioned to
me before. We will need the words and
mantras of the old runic times. Our power
sources need to be strong as well, and
nothing short of at least three whitefire
torches will generate enough power. And
then lastly the starline configuration,
needed to cross the ritual with the
celestial channel.

I prey that our efforts will work there
is a lot at stake for everyone involved

Of course, cracking the code and translating them yourself does the job, too! XD I considered that "Ultra Hard Mode" and wouldn't have left that as the one and only option to get those pages figured out, but hey, here we are!

But yeah, definitely an impressive job! That takes dedication, a lot of smarts, and I'm sure it took a bit of time, also. Well, hope you had fun doing that!

Back to business, he looked at the star map and the two discs. "I'm pretty sure these will go together to summon the battalions referenced in Rettos message, but I'm sure there are more to find. I definitely need to talk to Syrax now, as he might know about how to find or create Ethereal Flames, too!"

It took me many, many hours of careful, intricate study to be able to discern the ancient writings, even with my scripture journals and old reference texts. You're definitely more than welcome to translate them by yourself, but if time is of the essence, I can focus on this task for you as you carry about your other endeavors.


https://i.postimg.cc/6qhprmHC/Espeon-Normal.pngFrom what I've learned about the Dawnlight Reckoning Summoning, it seems to be a way to link Utopia with our world of Veramo, or in essence, the world of the living. Typically, small portal channels for individual angels or messengers from Utopia aren't a major undertaking, but what it sounds like to me is Utopia had intentions of calling in a vast battalion. What Retto's letter describes is what would be required to create a portal that is wide enough and has a long enough duration to take on such a monumental task.

It seems to connect with my previous findings and observations. I've seen what kind of darkness and shadows are gathering about Exacta City. Abyss is planning something, and while I don't know all the details yet, I can sense a presence of anger and lust for revenge, desiring this destruction and darkness regardless of the cost.

I just hope we can discern what it is they're planning before it's too late...

Well, I must go now, but it was a pleasure to meet with you. I'll keep in touch and will let you know if I discover anything else about what Utopia's plans were.

Nia - back from her search of the hotel - began hastily scrawling letters in her notepad, decoding the horrid message that the Stalker Twistagen had left.

Nico looked over Nias shoulder at the work she was doing and smiled. Seeing other emissary pokemon working away at puzzles made him feel like part of such a great team!
"Woah, nice work Nia! That seems like a really important message!... I'm worried about whoever this poor Salio is- do you want me to go talk to them in the morning, since I'm diplomatic? Or do you think someone else is better suited to the conversation?"

While waiting for a response he grinned at Syrax, puffing out his fur in a rather proud way. Unravelling an ancient language was apparently a big deal!
"Thanks for popping in! Whoever the author of these papers was, they sure liked to use flowery language! If you can help me condense their messages into a list of things to find, I'd really appreciate it! I even found a page of relevant writings at the church, so i'll read them out now too, just so others can see what it said;"

Nia briefly closed her eyes. She had been at Sunberry Hotel that night. If only...if only she had searched more thoroughly, or longer, or...no. It was no use. There was nothing she could have done at the time, without any information to go on. Poor Frendsi.

"I dont know if Uraff will be very helpful, but I guess we dont know until we ask. Frendsis death sounds a lot like the death of the owner of Greenlawn Manor- a heart attack, right? A hedge maze also sounds like something a manor would have... and its next to a creepy overgrown park. I think we might find Labyrinth clues if we searched there... but it's not within aurorawatch territory, so I'd advise whoever does it should go during the day, or with armor or a weapon!"
He poked a little pin in the map for others to hopefully investigate while he was busy.

I can heal all manner of wounds, Nia replied to Nico's question. Physical, mental and impurities. From the looks of it... The Vulpix sidestepped her way around Nico, appraising the Cinccino. ...You sustained minor damage to sanity. I can heal it, but it will take a while so I won't be able to explore if I do. Otherwise I can prepare a minor remedy. Just some aromatherapy. Nia smiled. It won't heal you, exactly, but you will feel calmer.

"Aromatherapy sounds like a lovely way to spend the rest of my afternoon." He took up a comfy position on a chair, reading the gruesome daily news reports.
"Depending on what happens during the rest of the day, I'm planning to try to diplomatically talk my way into the aurorawatch HQ tonight to have a snoop around... It seems a little suspicious that their officers are trying to put Frendsi's death down to natural causes."

Would you want me to have an auto-equip thing going on? How it works is that if you don't have anything currently equipped and you happen to come across something that would fill that slot, you automatically equip that equipment item you just found (so for example, if you didn't have a weapon equipped and you find a weapon, you automatically equip that weapon immediately and it's ready to use right away). But if you want to upgrade that weapon with a new one you found or change something out, that's got to be done manually (also, it needs to be done in the main action thread, not in here!). Just let me know if you guys are okay with me doing that, but I figured it couldn't hurt. Remember, you can always trade and give pieces of equipment to other players, so if you have a lot of similar equipment types and other players don't have any, it helps to share that stuff!

Also, yeah, don't forget to equip stuff!

Unless Neo is really good at sudoku design, you probably had to make a few logic assumptions to fill it all in, and therefore maybe at one of those you had to go in a different direction? It looks possible to switch number positions... So perhaps when we get the 3rd piece it won't match up with what you've done in those squares and it'll be more clear which numbers need swapping?

Also! We are beginning to get a bit of inventory stash happening in some characters and not in others-- does Lita want to give her spare bow to another pokemon to use? Do people want to use their own money to buy berries to heal themselves, or do our healers want to use up their turns doing it for free? I dont mind either way, just from a teamwork perspective it's good to figure it out!

The first time I did it, I was in a bit of a rush and I realized I totally miscalculated something, but had it been right, it still would have been seriously unfair anyway (bad luck is normal, but this would have been just outright wrong). So it may read a tiny bit differently.

But if you want the juicy details of what changed behind the scenes...
Scared gets hit with an Electric attack, not a Rock one. My mistake was thinking Rock would have done triple damage to him (I had a long day XD), but nooo, it does 4x the damage to a Flying/Fire type, which would have been 20 Health Damage and 20 Sanity Damage, which would have been enough Sanity damage to kill him in one shot! That, to me, just seemed like a ridiculous amount of fatal damage in one regular trap that offered next to no way to prepare in advance, so I changed it to something that sure, isn't nice at all, but isn't just grotesquely unfair like how it would have been before.

So there you have it.

Nia wobbled into the base, paws scuffling against the floor. She was beginning to feel the after effects of her encounter with the OMEN (mainly due to it being her first real battle against them), but otherwise unharmed. She let out a small sigh of relief. The mission had gone better than expected, thankfully she had her quick wits and type advantage on her side.

Okay... Nia inspected her spoils fully for the first time. I have a new dagger now, so I may want to hand the rogue's dagger to someone else who needs it. Sochas, a spelon berry, basic riot bracers and an amethyst bracer...this seems like it could be very useful. The alolan Vulpix gently rubbed the inlaid amethyst gem with a paw.

Now I guess I'll wait for everyone to return so I can tell them about the building. Maybe Misty can help inspect the lower level. I should also talk to Sacred, or Flare, and Lita and Lycellus have expertise in security that could be useful for those locks.

Recently, I have been studying to advance my skills and experience with Clairvoyance. It’s one thing to be able to build upon this as a psychic Pokémon, but I’ve been trying to learn the methods needed to pass on these skills to other Pokémon, even ones that aren’t psychic like myself.

At the same time, I have been trying to gain a better understanding of what sort of darkness defines these Stalkers and what traits resonate with relics of Utopia. As I’ve realized, you Emissaries are special, able to pick up on these auras while normal Pokémon cannot detect them, often to their own demise when they stumble upon these evil relics these Enthrallers have been leaving behind.

I believe I may have discerned a method to pass my experience with Clairvoyance down to you as well. It’s a skill that took me a few years to learn, but I believe I can pass down the essentials to you when it comes to learning the connections and linkages behind some of these relics you’ve been finding.

My last apprentice, a young Sealeo named Rajan, simply just couldn’t learn it without having necessary psychic capabilities. It was hard to see how much it frustrated him, but I realized it just wasn’t meant to be.

Even among psychic Pokémon, this skill would take me roughly four months to teach them, and I'm afraid we don't have too much time to be able to do such things.

This power is a kind of mystical intuition that no other Pokémon have, and it resonates in alignment with psychic Pokémon powers and their connection to the ley lines. When I realized this, I discovered ways I could teach you what I know in Clairvoyance in a way that can be quick, using the traits and aspects that only Emissaries have.

Let me know if you’d like to learn this skill from me. I have used to quite a few times to discern what’s the right direction to take to seek the answers. Just note that while Clairvoyance can be a very powerful tool, it can only show you the path you need to take to find the answers you seek. You will need to be the one that goes down that path…

Size doesn't matter with equipment, save for the custom-made stuff. So even though Lycellus is way bigger than a Pikachu, no worries about his gear not fitting you because I'm using wonky video game logic and can totally allow that.

As for learning a skill, it does take up an action, but you can put it to use on the same turn you learned it as part of your training.

There's actually even a fourth method. Some pieces of jewelry grant use of an additional perk or ability as long as you're wearing the item. So even beyond your starting perk, magazines, and Escorting on NPCs, there's that.

First being Sacred running into a rock type with higher speed than him, then getting hit with an attack that he has a 4x weakness to, and then having that attack hit for 10, which was the absolute maximum amount of damage it could do, and then failing the two 50/50 preservation rolls for his two items. That's like breaking mirrors, opening umbrellas inside, yanking on Ninetales tails on Friday the 13th 2020 kind of bad luck...

After researching some more about what Utopia’s plans here were and from the pages you discovered earlier, I discovered they had three-step plan for dealing with Abyss. I dare say it, but it looks like it’s all coming down to this.

There are signs and evidence that Utopia had intentions to build a machine to instigate what they entitled the United Universe. Many of the relics that you’ve found connect with that mission objective. The Celestial Configurations, the Starmap, and the page… they all point toward this goal of reaching out to the entire known universe to bring about a call to arms, a prayer for all Pokémon to join in on.

I’ve looked over what you’ve found and I’ve organized these integral relics based on this mission.

You’ve made good headway, but there’s still some steps that need to be done. I’ll perform some more research and I’ll try to learn about this plan as much as I can to see what still needs to be found.

Besides uniting the universe, Utopia sought to combine our technologies with their holy relics to forge a secret superweapon against Abyss, a device called the Holy Divinefire Redeemer Armament. I have only read a few details about it, but it seems like such a device will not only be able to obliterate Abyss with holy cleansing fire, but it would also be something Abyss has no current countermeasures against. Thankfully, they have not discovered this secret, but we’re running out of time.

You have a few of the components, but there are still some missing. I did some Clairvoyance on the [Vault Y117 Key] and it’s linked to the {Vault Y117} located in (58) Jadewater Apartment complex and Park. Unfortunately, I couldn’t peer beyond the vault door, but the key resonates with a holy presence that I detected. Utopia’s angels had intentions of using this vault once preparations were underway and were coming together, but they didn’t get the chance before they were discovered and killed by the Enthrallers.

Nonetheless, I’ve sorted which relics are intended for this Divinefire Armament.

Lastly, the final part of this operation was described as the Dawnlight Reckoning Summoning. It’s detailed as being a way to connect our world of the living with the afterlife realm of Utopia, and to call in their heavenly battalions to aid in the defense of… our entire universe.

If all three of these operations were to be completed, it would not only ensure the eternal protection of both Utopia and our world of the living, but it could indeed… bring about the very end of Abyss itself entirely. From what I have seen and witnessed firsthand, Abyss has grown furious, reckless, and hellbent on destruction, forsaking strategy and tactical planning in their fury to purge and destroy all life. But in that clouded and impulsive anger, they have overlooked these critical operations, and while the Utopian angels that had attempted to bring forth these plans were defeated, their work has not been compromised and can still be a possibility.

They seem to be connected to Utopia, but they’re not connected to any of these operations. They also resonate with a holy presence, but I don’t know what they’re for.

Have any parts of our base been searched at all?

Originally I set it where all locations at the (1) Steel Mill were unsearchable since that's the Emissary home base and it was assumed to already be fully assessed, but I decided to change my mind about that. You won't find any Stalker or Sin Purge items in those other locations, but I'm adding some more advanced gear and resources to be found as it seems like what's currently out there isn't enough and I think as a result, it looks like it's causing most players to be anxious about venturing out.

PLEASE don't be anxious about venturing out, I know there's that risk of death and I don't want it to get to the point where people just pass their turn because the only things left to do bear some semblance of risk. Sure, there's risks involved with doing most activities in Stalkers, but that's where a lot of its charm is. Be brave, be adventurous!

But back to the original question:

(1) Barracks, Storage, and Living Area [Basic Level] - Since this is where the Emissaries live, it doesn't need to be searched.

(1a) Foundry Basement (Empty Space) - Lychee's character, Nico, already searched this.

(1b) Foundry Floors 1-2 (Empty Space) - Hasn't been searched yet.

(1c) Foundry Floors 3-4 (Empty Space) - Hasn't been searched yet.

Beyond that, I'm doing a few other things to nerf the difficulty level from how things were originally intended, especially as a few people have dropped out and some of the things I was originally intending to see are not looking quite so possible. Also, I was realizing that the amount of Sochas players had on an individual level was lower than what I was expecting people to have by now, so if you've noticed a sharp increase in money found, that's the reason why.

The other thing I've started doing is adding extra pieces of equipment to be found at locations. By now, I was somewhat expecting most players to be fully geared up with at least something in each slot, save for perhaps Utopian Aspects as those were originally intended to be kind of rare (now they'll be more commonly found). From a GM perspective, I'd actually rather have things be too easy than too hard, and right now I think they're too hard and I can kind of see the effect it's having on some people.

But also from a GM perspective and as the guy who designed this whole campaign, I think now would be a good time to share some tips and stuff.

USE YOUR SOCHAS. OR AT LEAST PLAN ON USING THEM.

If you're saving them for that high-end equipment, that's fine and understandable and probably would be something I'd do too if I was a player, but it might be a good idea to share with others what exactly you're saving for or are aiming to buy once you have enough. Set goals with your money, more will be coming your way, especially as you start going though the more dangerous areas in the Southern Reach. But if you have a lot of it, I'd say either use it or store it if you plan on venturing out into the more dangerous areas.

As some veteran players know, previous seasons of Stalkers didn't even have money and equipment and didn't have battles either! Whatever hazards you ran into were just things you had to deal with and very little to protect you from them!

IT'S OK TO DIE. IT HAPPENS.

It's a horror game, and like video games of the same nature, you might encounter this happening. It doesn't mean you're a bad player and it's the reason why I had everyone sign up with ten reincarnation options. It may mean some equipment and money losses (very similar to the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games), but it's something you can still totally bounce back from and if it looks like it's turning into a really rough ride, I might smoothen things out. I may not aim to nerf the ghouls and chimeras (and other things), but I'll make it so you come across better gear that replaces what you might have lost. I just don't want people to go into silly kamikaze mode, so a little bit of sting for dying is still there just to ensure people don't do it intentionally willy-nilly, but I wouldn't make it so you're hopelessly screwed if it happens.

Also, dying to OMEN infected (ghouls and Chimeras) does NOT raise up the Kill Counter, only death at the hands of the Abyss does. And it's only at 4/40, so it's got a LONG way to go before it's looking risky.

STALKER DEVELOPMENT FUN FACT: Shadowmarch was never originally intended to be in the campaign, but I decided hey, let's add this mysterious new faction with an interesting backstory and have you guys come across some of their powerful gear. I've seen some video games do something similar and it has an interesting effect all while not making the game too easy.

GEAR UP! AND STORE OR SHARE UNUSED GEAR YOU HAVE IN YOUR PACK!

If you don't have an attack weapon or defense armor and there's some available, take it and use it! And if you have some extra weapons and armor in your Pack, put those into the Team Inventory and share them with others that don't even have a piece of that equipment yet. Fill those empty equipment slots with at least something, it could save your neck and there's more coming, so fill those empty slots with something from the Team Inventory or just buy something! Also, if a shop owner gets killed by the Stalkers, their store may close, so it's honestly better to buy what you can as soon as possible than to stockpile it and find out the stuff you might have needed is no longer available because the store owner is now dead.

If you've played any kind of RPG or character building game, you'd know it's generally not a good idea to go into high-level areas with weak gear or no gear at all. The same now applies in Stalkers, so fill those equipment slots with the best stuff you can find and give any extra things you have with you to others who might need it. If you just carry it with you, then all that happens is you may lose it when you die.

THERE'S A REASON WHY I HAD SCARLET SEARCH THE (16) RIVERWINDS SHOPPING CENTER.

Because there's a TON of great items to buy here and I figured it was getting to the point where you guys might be interested in a lot of these, especially if dying is your primary concern. If you really don't like the idea of battling at all (you currently have your battle stance set to Flee), you might be interested in picking up a few Sunfire Flares at The Tool Rack so you don't even need to roll to escape, you just bail as soon as possible at the use of a Flare. The $150 spent to get it might just save you hundreds in lost Sochas if you don't think you may survive the battle. Meanwhile, there's plenty of cheap and effective weaponry there, so if you don't have an attack weapon yet, grab something here and get to cracking a few ghouls down!

The Happy Holiday Gift Store also has a bunch of great jewelry items that deal with random encounters and some of the repercussions you might run into if they're not the kind of thing you want to deal with like seeing the Kill Counter go up or you want to cut down the chance of random encounters with ghouls, chimeras, and... other things later on. And if someone wanted to go [|JW| Friends Forever Dual Heart Necklaces: <XXX>] with Syrax the Espeon, you'd be pro-level material. (Pst, you don't want him to die, Sin Purge Ritual becomes significantly tougher if he does). Also, what does the [Neo Emolga Keychain] do? I don't want to give too much of a spoiler, but let's say it's the ultimate insurance policy and is your best "get out of jail free" card. Aglome Oen hates these. XD

The Soul Food Diner is another effective means you can almost achieve immortality status if you buy and hold [Heartwarming Cocoa], [Sweet Herbal Tea], and [The Monk’s Special] in your Pack together, especially in multiple amounts. It will be expensive, but essentially they're heckin' good safety nets in terms of what could happen to your Health, Sanity, and Purity stats. If you don't like the idea of stumbling into a nasty trap that does x2 or x4 damage due to types, these can effectively say "what do we say to death? not today!" and keep you alive and kickin'.

And what's the deal with the Sweet Dreams Café? These items are a bit of a mystery, but I'll explain these just a bit more without too much in terms of spoilers because these are meant to be fun mystery items. [Sleepy Time Dream Tea], it's a bit expensive, but just do as it says and something good might happen. [Magic Pie] is a bit of a gambling game. Something great may happen, something bad may happen, something odd and weird may happen. If you've ever played Dungeons and Dragons, Magic Pie is essentially A Deck of Many Things (https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Deck%20of%20Many%20Things#content). What happens the first time you try it may be totally different from the next time you try it. Some interesting and nifty features to Stalkers Season 5 can only be unlocked through [Magic Pie]. There's a whopping 10 possible results that you can get (some of which have multiple secondary randomized results). And if the results are bad, at most they only persist until you die (and you can always try again with more [Magic Pie] if you feel like having fun). Lastly, [Fairy Bread] is a bit of a puzzle itself, think a bit outside the box when using it and you might enjoy something VERY nice out of it. It's expensive, sure, but there's a reason for that if you can figure it out (especially because once you do, it can be replicated and I imagine quite a few people will be taking advantage of it XD) But if you do figure it out, think carefully about how you want to use it, as there's a bit of an issue if EVERYONE uses it, though you may be able to work around that with some more out of the box thinking.

BUT MOST OF ALL...

Enjoy the game, it's meant to be fun, don't take anything that happens in it too close to heart. You're all great peeps, I'm happy to have you in this, and please speak up if you think some things just seem grossly unfair or there's something seriously unfun about it that you hate and is really spoiling the experience. Games get patches and updates all the time based on player feedback and this is no exceptions, I can curbstomp anything in this game if you feel it's not the fun challenge I thought it was and is just being too much of a menace that makes you want to quit.

The whole goal of it is to present a fun challenge that keeps you thinking, keeps you on your toes, and gets you thinking as you dive further into these dark mysteries. So it's a bit of a mix of D&D and akin to one of those horror-themed Escape Room things. But yeah, let me know what your thoughts are if something really doesn't seem right. If you’re totally stumped on what to do, simply Search on a place that hasn’t been searched yet, though gear up for the occasion, especially if it’s in the Southern Reach (though lately people have been able to go through there without running into trouble). You’ve got heaps of great gear now and plenty of cash, so put it to good use. Don’t make it all fall under the Megalixir tendency, where you tend to stockpile and not use great items thinking it’s better to save them for later… only to ultimately never use them at all.

Also, look for spots where your Perk can be used. Also look at the key items that were found and see if you can make connections with unresolved obstacles that were found earlier. You might already have the key to a door but no one has made the connection and went ahead to use it. But if you only have some of the pieces, you know, it’s still helpful to track the connections and say hey, we know we have two of the three items we need to unlock this door, and while we don’t have the third yet, we can at least track that these two things belong there. In terms of trying to track down those last strangler items, Clairvoyance will help immensely with that and remove the guesswork.

Right now, you’re at the stage where it might just be best to search through most of the locations, see what’s there to gather up in terms of key items and hidden stuff, and in cases where you KNOW you have all the pieces to an obstacle or barrier, use them, put them to use, and that way you’re fitting in pieces of the puzzle and gradually making it easier to progress with less piles of stuff to sift through.

But yeah, there’s still 58 unsearched locations (plus plenty of Pokemon that haven’t been interviewed), and while a bunch of those don’t need to be searched to gather what you need to win the game, many of those places do hide essentials that you’ll need to uncover. Right now, there’s obviously going to be gaps in terms of missing pieces and not knowing what to do with certain things, but as soon as you wrap up the Searching and suddenly have all the pieces before you, then you can start seeing where things fit and how things relate.

While Stalkers all have a kind of “taint” that you Emissaries and a few trained Pokémon like myself can detect, there are distinctions between them, and I believe I’ve found a way to recognize one Stalker’s taint from another. This will allow us to detect which of these dark artifacts and belongings can be attributed to each Stalker.

I’ve assessed each of the items and was able to attribute each of these things you’ve found with the Stalker they connect with.

And that knowledge may be able to help you make connections between these relics and where they belong on the field.

I’ve also reviewed your team records and I’ve tracked down which locations have obstacles that are Stalker-related. Be on the lookout for these kinds of labels:

These should give you some clues as to what obstacles link to which Stalkers and what might be the approach you need to use to get through these places. But be cautious, I’m sure progressing through these will involve plenty of dangers.

Delving through the old records and prophecies, I’ve found that each Stalker has their own Phylactery, which serves as a dark power anchor that allows the Enthraller that haunts them to use more of their dark Abyssal powers in the world of the living.

This gives us two options when it comes to eliminating a Stalker. We can…

Find and destroy the Phylactery first. Once it is known which Stalker is connected to which civilian, the Stalker can be Exorcised without a fight. This is likely the safest method in terms of eliminating a Stalker, but it does involve having to search and dig deep to find their dark lairs and locate these dark anchors. And I imagine these lairs are extremely dangerous.

To destroy these Phylacteries, we’re going to need to commission Navin the Chatot to build a Holy Altar at the steel mill. A Utopia Angel will likely know how to destroy these Phylacteries immediately, but for me… it’s going to take me some time to learn how to do it (2 Days), and I’ll need the Holy Altar and a recovered Phylactery to get started on discerning how it needs to be done the right way.

OR

Attempt to fight and Exorcise the Stalker without destroying the Phylactery. This still requires knowing which civilian is possessed by an Enthraller. Also, these fights may be very dangerous as these Stalkers will be in their prime form and will be capable of deadly attacks. If you do use this method, I recommend gathering as many Emissaries, Mercenaries, and resources as possible to join in on the fight.

In addition, I’ve discovered there may be another way to fight these Stalkers. Remember, each Stalker was once a normal Pokémon. Finding something that reminds them of who they really are, a memento, a heirloom, or anything of that nature may disrupt the Enthraller’s possession over them. I don’t know what these may be, but keep a watch out for these things.

Labyrinth: A perplexing and almost disorienting alcohol-like taint and smell.
Obscene: A stench of something rotting that was formerly sweet and sugary at one point, like rotten fruit.
Astralnox: A smoky, dusty like stench that reminds you of ash and dust. Associated with things most of us fear, like ash after a fire or dust after a violent tornado.
Twistagen: A metallic-like scent that smells like blood and burning metal.
Huskpuppet: A foul, oily-like stench that smells like decay.
Exclude: A hollow, melancholy like scent that smells like myrrh and other ointments used for burials.

Huskpuppet, however, take things to a much darker level. Not only do they suck out the innards of their victims, but the black substance you mentioned reanimates the victim’s corpses into her defiled servants. Or in this case, it seems to be Huskpuppet is the “mother” of these dark “children” as from what Sacred found in the Headmaster Houses. This also means Huskpuppet is a female Pokémon and at least old enough to be a mother.

Astralnox is concerning, as I’ve realized that not only do they use the fears of their target, but pieces and aspects of the targets themselves. Sacred’s own severed head and Lycellus’s own innocence siphoned out of his spirit and harvested into physical form… these have me concerned on a number of levels, and this may be only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to dealing with this Stalker.

I would take special care with Astralnox. There may be more dark relics like this that take things to a rather… personal level. Be prepared to encounter more of this, as horrifying as it may sound. And my senses detect that using these kinds of dark artifacts… may have a damaging voodoo-doll like effect upon the ones they are connected to. These dark components and from what you’ve found out in the field… it points toward them having to be used as dark sacrifices. And in performing these, I've discerned it’s going to have a damaging effect on whoever is connected to the sacrifice offerings themselves. Be especially careful when doing this and make sure whoever is connected to these relics is in top shape to endure the inevitable harm that may be inflicted upon them.

As for the vault, it may not necessarily be the vault itself, but what lies in the vault that has the connection. My theory is these Stalkers, once they arrived to begin their dark ritual here, set out to find empty, forgotten places to make their lairs and hide their dark relics thinking they would be the only ones that would know where they are. Much like hiding a spare key under a rug, they too have taken steps to try and cover their tracks, all while leaving deadly abominations scattered about this ravaged city.

So now I'm rich as heck, I'm planning to buy a protection charm asap... for reasons. Does anyone else want some money to buy a friendship5ever charm for an NPC? Any ideas about who else we absolutely need to keep alive? (Syrax for his holy reasons? Navin the Chatot so we can build the Holy Altar?)

We have enough weapons and armor for literally everyone to get armed and protected. Jewelry is optional but we do have quite a few pieces of that too! I would say to gear yourselves up and stop having a flee stance! Once you flee a battle, you have to spend another turn trying to search/reach/chat at the same location, so it might be better to swap to tactical once you're all nicely dressed and covered in knives.

In terms of things of critical importance, it would be absolutely ace to finish that broadcasting quest, because then we can hire aurorawatch mercs for free! SQUAD TIME! Never be afraid again! Also we get two extra rooms in our base after a few days so that would be cool too.

There are still a lot more places to search, and we have a second car so someone else can also search double (and honestly if anyone's wearing armor and geared up with knives and berries I'll happily buy ye a coffee too~)

Are we going to actually try to figure out who the stalkers are? I'm having trouble keeping tabs- but that said I've been heavily focused on searching rather than interviewing pokemon. Even if we don't know who the stalkers are, do we want to try to unlock any of their lairs, just for funsies? (Or possibly in case they've stashed important divinefire armament pieces in them?)

For example:
At 28 Riverside park is a statue with a missing left hand and right hand. We now have both hands in the team inventory. Shall we go put them in and see what we find?

At (40) Memorial Heart Hospital (ABANDONED) there is a statue with three head mounts. We have the heads of Sacred, Scarlet and Nico which should fit.

At (53) East Exacta River Bridge (ABANDONED) theres a blast door with Labyrinth's feeling about it, does anyone with security and a lot of protection wanna go check it out?

I'm more focused on learning Clairvoyance tonight. These Sun and Star keys have something to do with beating the heck out of Abyss, and I figured I could help Syrax out with it. Also, I'll happily take the cash to grab that charm so Syrax doesn't, uh, (bad pun incoming) Dierax. As for who that other charm would be for, I think Navin is a pretty good idea.

Also you said if you survived then you would hand over money for me to grab a Psychic merc, so... hand it over. If you want to, of course. One of these broadcasting things are probably what Crez needs, so maybe I'll drop off the one Caska fixed before she was owned by a Quagsire and Unfezant, before they were killed by you.
