Welcome to Season 28! The last round didn't even last a month! Will this one last longer? It's your daily chat based game!

Most of us know the rules by now. Simple enough. If you're the last poster and 48 hours pass. You win! Basic forum rules still apply.

I dread having to shovel this mess off the driveway, though. Now it's too high for the snowblower to handle it...

Tell that to the crew that destroyed our yard to build this new roadway that took 5 years. XD

But yeah I get what you're saying. Honestly, unprofessionally speaking. I'd prefer the snow. :p

Neo Emolga

Oh geez, never knew about that!

Sheesh, I'm trying to imagine it and it's definitely not pretty...

Chakramaster
02-03-2021, 11:45 AM
Yeah there was a "roadway expansion" that had been getting planned....before I was even born. They just started it when I was around 22. 24 was when they reached our house and maaaaan. Those machines shook the house so terribly sometimes things fell or the powder flickered. Heck there's some cracks in the foundation too.

But yeah The yard and driveway were a mess. Especially the driveway. It was destroyed and we had to get them to see the damage and pay to fix it. I'm sure there's pictures somewhere. I don't have any on me though xD.

Maybe one day I'll get a chance to go north and experience this mythical "fluffy" snow xD. Understand exactly how it is and if I truly want to deal with it. Just seems fun to me xD (says the guy whose never experienced it to those that have their entire life)

Neo Emolga

It's fun when you're a kid and make snowmen, have snowball fights, go sledding, and all that fun stuff, but as an adult, the magic is gone when you need to shovel and drive in it. :P

You can still totally do all that as an adult xD. I mean I may be speaking again from a perspective of Someone that doesn't live with it as a common thing, but it doesn't have to be a daily chore. To me it seems like a rare thing that as long as you're careful it's fun! If it's not that enjoyable. You need friends to enjoy it with. Or friends to throw a shovel of snow on xD.

Yes yes it's true. I'd LOVE to be able to build a real SnowChu. ^^; but you can't do that with now snow let alone about an inch. Otherwise it's mostly grass, dirt, and mud.

Neo Emolga

You'd have enough snow to build an army of Snowchus if you were to come here right now. XD

Just imagine. And couldn't forget the Emolga commander mixed in xD

Oh and another fun fact about Red Georgia Clay. No matter what if you're digging outside you're getting into it, but be prepared to either thrown out the clothes and possibly the shoes you work in it with. If you get it on you it spreads worse than mud, it's hard to get out, and don't even think for a second washing it with other clothes. It'll spread. Even washing off the shoes outside just leaves a muddy mess. Nothing worth keeping unless you got an old toothbrush to spend an hour cleaning your clothes and shoes with. Truly is like a red devil xD

Neo Emolga
02-03-2021, 11:53 PM
Yeah, I've heard a few stories. I have a sister who lives in North Carolina and I think they have some of that red dirt up there, too.

Thankfully snow doesn't do that do your clothes. It'll just make them cold and wet for a while. XD

It may have its own variation. Much like Arizona and New Mexico have their own, but the worst of the worst is the Red Georgia Clay. Without a doubt.

Yes please. Give me the snow any day and all day xD. If I win the lottery. I'm moving north. I'm the total opposite of anyone who gets rich. I don't need fancy lush beaches. Give me the big city, cold, and snow.

When I was living in DC I heard it was the worst of both worlds. Awful in both winter and summer. Which I remember when I was there, it wasn’t that bad in June and July but August started to crank up the heat a lot. High 90s every day. Which is not fun when you’re wearing business attire.

Chakramaster
02-04-2021, 05:07 PM
Yeah when I was there for the Pokémon World Championships (that's typically in August) it was awful. Nights were a great relief. Here with how much humidity there is. I swear it's like I'm suffocating at times. More so due to the lung collapse thing.

Neo Emolga

Sometimes it can take a few months before you're cozy with a new job. My job with master data management took over a year to get used to just because there was SO MUCH STUFF going on that it took a very long time to get comfortable with it all. I mean heck, I've been in this job for a year and a half and I still get curveballs. But yeah, this role is CRAZY busy. It's rare there's any downtime, and if there is, it usually goes poof in a heartbeat.

But no matter what, NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVER EVER say you're low on work and you've got nothing to do to your manager. You can get badly swamped doing that and they usually won't pay you more because you're doing more. Make up work for yourself if you have to (such as just writing down how to do things and making guides for how to do tasks you usually do on a daily basis). Organize emails, folders, delete old email junk, do simple office clerical stuff.

Yeah with jobs like that it's critical you don't put yourself in a vulnerable spot. Else you will make it a lot harder on yourself. I just got really lucky with mine I guess.

My boss even told me about the position I'm in and how he ended up choosing me. Where at first they kept sending him females and he told them "can I get some males." Most weren't great and he narrowed it down to me and one other guy. The other guy had no job, but he get kinda questionable when he answered a question telling him. "He'd quit the job for something else if he didn't like things." He liked how I handled talking over the phone so he chose me. Luckily I remember that day too. He so happened to call on a day I had off.

But yeah one thing my boss has flat out told me. So long as the job gets done he doesn't care what I do. I can sit in my office and watch movies on my phone, play games, do whatever I want. He didn't care if I brought in a big screen tv (clearly joking since site staff here wouldn't like that). I don't really do that all too often though. Unless I really don't have much. Last month was crazy with nearly 600 calls having to be made. This month is only around 300 and that's how it's supposed to be. They just forgot to switch it back to lower after December. So January was hectic.

I tell him all the time I'm game to learn more. So I'm supposed to be training in becoming a Collection Tech soon too.

Sounds like you have a pretty good manager! I like his style, I think I'd adopt something similar. As long as the work gets done, I think having that extra time to take a breather is well-deserved. If your reward is just more work, people are not going to be as motivated to really push to get things done. They'll take their time knowing they're just going to have stuff to do on their plate anyway.

My manager... she's nice, but she LOVES to pack on the busywork, as in filling downtime with things that really don't bring much value-added at all, but just pass the time even if they won't be all that helpful. I still remember how she asked me to make a product portfolio, it took me many hours and was a beast to organize, and then when I presented it to her, she had totally forgotten she asked me to do it in the first place and it hasn't been used at all since then. She also loves lunch and learns, which I'm not too crazy about because it means having to organize an hour-long presentation and it pulverizes your lunch hour (and hopefully you have the time to grab a bite either before or after). I've done two already and I'm expected to do two more in 2021, but I'm hoping after this that's it, because it's a lot of prep that goes into these on top of all the mountains of other tasks and responsibilities I need to address.

You still work from home too don't you? Making getting things a bit more difficult. Not everyone's Internet is great and sometimes transfers take awhile, etc. so yeah I can see that being troublesome too. Also yeah on Fridays anyone that's here working at the office he buys breakfast or lunch for. Seems we've started taking turns deciding where we go. Today he wanted a burger....at 9:30 am xD. He had to wait an hour, but he got everyone Burger King lol.

Yeah and that sounds harsh. To pack on more work loads on top of work. If sounds like she just likes to put people to work so they aren't just sitting there. Good for work ethics, but with management. She could stand to be a bit more lax I guess. Give a little free time and breathing room. I haven't had to do presentations, but yeah I imagine those take a ton of prep work. Good on you though! Shows them they did right in keeping you on and you can do more.

Thankfully yeah, my internet has been pretty good. And yep, I'm still working from home. They think we'll be able to go back to the office in April but I have BIG doubts about that.

And yeah, it's rough. I understand what she's trying to do, but it's just not... practical. Most of it is a whole lot of work for very little return.

Well you'll be back with your Emolga there at the office soon enough. Hopefully not too dusty or anything. Their probably gonna clean the office top to bottom beforehand though like many offices have. With the COVID protocols changing it's tough to say.

Well hopefully you're at least getting paid enough then. I mean not saying to you and quit, but should be at least enough gain for the cause. It's tough enough finding a job how things are right now.

Yeah, I tried to get to my cube to clean it out last Thursday, but they denied my access even though I had completed the forms online. They wanted to see physical forms, too. I was like... what's the point of the online forms, then? I'm going to try again next week Friday, hopefully it works this time. I swear, I feel like burying them with thousands of copies of forms Harry Potter style.

Yep, I'm still getting paid the same (otherwise I would have fled for sure!). And yeah, it's hard getting a new job considering the COVID situation right now.

Yeah that makes no sense why they'd have forms to get access then deny it. They didn't have a reason for denial? Yeah they need to have some trick played on them like that to get back. XD

That's why I'm glad I actually got this job I have now. The guy it came down to between me had no job, but I showed more commitment. So it goes to show that's a good quality to show. Especially if it's an over the phone interview.

I just hope things get better as far as businesses, travel, and jobs with this COVID stuff soon. It's making traveling and vacations really near impossible.

Ugh, I just... hate overtime. I've had to do it on a few occasions but it does make me kind of... irked.

That's the only drawback of being employed fulltime as opposed to being a contractor. As a contractor, you get time and a half for any hours over 40. As a fulltime employee, you just grin and bear it.

I've heard stories of some people having 80-100 hour work weeks. That would KILL me. I just couldn't mentally handle that, I would absolutely go berserk if my life was nothing but my job and that's all I existed for and got to do. XP

Yeah lately I've had to do that at least once a week. We've been down one person and 2 people have to close. So I've had to open from 6:30am and close at 7:30pm. With a drive to and from being about an hour from and to work each day. Those days were absolutely brutal and I didn't like it. The extra money was good, but I never liked those days. Luckily last week was the last week of that...for now.

Depending on if I need a day off or need to leave early or something. I may do some extra hours at work and leave early another day or something. That's how I felt about my old job. Because they planned the schedule out. I couldn't even plan my life around anything. So I'm at least glad to be away from that and have a more set schedule each week.

Technically I am a contractor and legally I'm only supposed to be working 8-5, 5 days a week. But for this first week there were only two days I was done by five so it's looking more like 12-13 hour days, 6 days as week. And unfortunately that's just what is necessary to get all the work done that needs to be done.

I would really love a month off. Would give me a nice chunk of time to catch up with stuff, get some projects done, have some fun, and just really refresh.

Weekends just aren't enough and vacations still feel like a blur. It was frustrating how fast Christmas break blasted by.

Yall are still working? Man, I have lost all concept of time while doing nothing but sleep or play video games. Everything blurs together now. What is time? What is this existence that lingers on, fringing on self mutilation, self destruction.

And pancakes. Can I get some freaking pancakes? Where are you going? You're lost. Wait no I am lost.
Yeah, I quarantined for two months but then I went back. I haven't had time to make pancakes but I can ship you the mix!

Same, the only thing that changed on my end was me working from home instead of going to the office, but I've been working just as hard, if not a bit harder than before.

The good thing is it shaved off hundreds of hours of time and hundreds in gas costs now that I don't need to drive there. Seriously, I would love it if I could keep this arrangement, but it sounds like they want to get everyone back in the office. And it sucks because we're moving to a new location and it's one of those lousy open floor plan arrangements where no one gets their own cube and you have to take everything with you when you leave because the desk you have one day may be a different one you get the next.

What usually happens in those kinds of environments is everyone ends up working from home anyway.

Wow, for me unemployment insurance only lasted around six months. After that I just bled out money and that's not a fun arrangement. For me, 2016 was kinda scary for that. But I'll admit that kind of time off was... very nice and refreshing!

I also hate explaining resume gaps on interviews, and they ALWAYS ask about those. A three-month gap isn't too much of an issue but anything longer than that starts to raise questions. Well, in this case, everyone's been affected by COVID to some varying degree and that doesn't exactly throw open the doors for a great interviewing environment.

Seriously, though, I hope to not be laid off.

Chakramaster
02-10-2021, 01:56 AM
Yeah when I was furloughed. It was very very nice to say the least. The boss was rude and totally uncalled for in his reasoning when he explained that to me later. Very untrue in his words. So now that he's not my boss anymore he can stuff it where the sun don't shine. I'll take that money and run. It was a nice payday for sure. Plus having that month off was nice. Would've been better if I had my PC and never sent it off for repair. Cause they didn't do a thing to fix it anyway.

COVID does make explaining resume gaps a little more...interesting. Most bosses seem to know what to do though. I got lucky with mine and presented myself in the best way possible. Where the competition I had seemed too lax. Maybe one of those that had been unemployed far too long and forgot to present himself in a "can do attitude."

Don't give up hope either of you. I'm sure something will come up soon AD

And Neo. I'm sure they'll get you back at the office and give everyone chances before laying anyone off. Just keep up that passion and I'm sure they'll have reason to keep you around.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be laid off, there's stuff I handle that no one knows how to do it (even though I've tried explaining it to them XD). So far I've only had positive feedback, which is good.

It's just if the budget gets too tight and they need to reduce headcount, there's that possibility, but like you said, hopefully that doesn't happen.

Reminds me of trying to handle the seed expirations at my old job. XD. Doing the safety walk it was listed on there, but NO ONE I asked knew how. It took me a year to figure it out cause they never gave me time to look into it. Then they told me to stop worrying about it and the safety walk. Then they get hit with a strike in an audit on them and wonder why. Hmmm...

Yeah I'm sure they look at value in terms of who handles what. If you shoulder your weight and they can see its something that helps benefit the company. You're in good standings

The justification they're trying to use is that it "promotes collaboration." By having no separate cubicle walls, no space to call your own, and by having everyone out in the open (no privacy), it fosters "closer communication."

No, it fosters distraction instead. Noise will carry, people engage in more non-work chat, and instead of being able to buckle in, focus on your work, and just push through it, nah, you're constantly getting interrupted by Bob, who talks about his kids, and then Jim joins in with Ann a minute later talking about the weather and what they did last weekend, and Tom who sits across from you now overhears the conversation wants to add in his opinion and what he did with his wife and kids, and boom, next thing you know almost an hour has passed and it just mass-murders everyone's time. Everyone around me works on different projects anyway. We don't collaborate on them. If we needed to, we'd set up a formal meeting because chances are good there's other people that would need to be in on that conversation that don't sit in the immediate area.

That and let's talk about sickness, too. You'd think we would have pulled the plug on this with COVID, but nah, sharing is caring and everyone gains experience by going through it at least once, right? Susie comes in with a cold, sneezes all over the place, and oh goodie, because everyone's swapping work stations, that carries around too, so now you, Bob, Jim, Ann, and Tom can now talk about how sick you all got!

Oh, and let's not forget that since no one has a permanent work station, if suddenly a computer stops working, well, instead of someone calling IT to get it fixed because it's their computer and theirs alone, nah, they just won't use that station anymore and they'll go to another one. But then a second one goes down. Nah, again, no one wants to go through the time and trouble to let IT know, they'll just pick another one. #3 goes down. And it goes on and on like a game of musical chairs until people just work from home anyway because they can't find a working station or all the usable ones have been taken.

Ugh. Not looking forward to any of this. At all. They've done studies that prove this system FAILS but nah, we've got to see why that is for ourselves rather than do the research! But hey, losing money, slashing productivity, and sharing illness is trendy! /endrant

Oh man, I'm soooo hoping for that. Really, with the stuff I do, I don't need to be at the office. I just end up burning time and gas commuting and being there in person doesn't offer any advantages and only puts me at risk of getting sick for really no good reason. I heard the basis of trying to get everyone back in the office was to have face-to-face interactions again, but is that really worth the risk? Even when half of our faces are covered up with masks anyway?

Just seems like pure nonsense, but yeah, I hope they see the light, and soon!

For me, it just seems like wearing a mask for a full day of work would be rough. It definitely wouldn't be worth it just to attend a few in-person meetings. If people can do their work from home, let them and don't consider having unnecessary people on site until everyone has gotten the vaccine.

Having to wear a mask during workout classes at the gym is very tough, but I don't want to stop exercising. But yeah, after the squat track, I'm like dying for breath. The others aren't so bad, but that one is very rough, and I haven't been doing my normal weight selection just because of the added breathing difficulty.

Noblejanobii

When I was wearing a mask all the time at work it wasn't really that bad for me personally, but what sucked is that no one else would wear one. So I'd get a lot of dirty looks for being the only person in the office like constantly sanitizing stuff and wearing a mask. But maybe just maybe that's the reason I didn't catch COVID when the rest of them did.

I've had to wear my mask while fencing too and I've gotten used to it but initially that was actually really hard. XD

Chakramaster

Yeah they've now mandated it where unless we are in an enclosed room with 4 walls from floor to ceiling and the door closed. You have to wear a mask. My office if that way its the file room but still. At least I can have mine off. I have it off to make calls anyway.

It can be so hard wearing a mask 8hours+ a day.

I know I haven't had it. Had blood work twice now (one for my health benefits at work then the other when I went to the hospital for testing during that issue). Both showed I didn't have the antibodies. So no signs of ever having it. Yet I remember way back at my old job I avoided it when 9 close co-workers cane down with it. Then my brother who was living with me at the time. Then my parents who I had just had dinner with a day prior.

Weirdest one of all was recently. When I was having those health issues. Only one I knew could take me to the hospital (they required me to, if not ambulance) was my sister cause she wasn't confirmed with it. She took me to and from. I sat in the backseat behind her luckily cause her front passenger seat was so dirty (I mean like dirt, grease, and oil covered from her boyfriend and his job).

Long story short. She came back positive the next day. I didn't wear a was in the car to, but when she picked me up to take me home. She mentioned she had been having symptoms. I slowly grab my mask and put it on....that was halfway home though. The ride was longer than 10 mins. So it's just weird. Even the doctor told me "it doesn't matter. I was in the car with her." Yet, I never got symptoms or came back positive.

Really goes to show there's still a LOT they don't know about the virus.

Neo Emolga
02-19-2021, 11:09 PM

Chakramaster
02-20-2021, 04:06 AM
I've had it done twice now. First time was awful. Second time....I dunno if they didn't do it right or what, b it it wasn't nearly as bad. Hardly felt it.

Yeah I the 9 co-workers I worked with at the old job that I had all pretty much worked right by me or directly. Heck, the co-worker I work right beside throughout the day. I pulled her aside into the cubicle near the managers booth, took my mask off, and told her. She left for the day early to get tested and came back positive. In that small space with my mask off, exposed? I can't believe I didn't get it then and there.

My parents I can't go and eat out with them without taking my mask off and sitting in front of them. Brother lived with me so again. Direct contact. But being around my sister that long on a ride in an enclosed space without my mask and not getting exposed? Truly a miracle.

The weirdest dreams I've had were reoccurring ones. When I was a kid, I kept having this series of dreams of being in this same dark, haunted mansion and kept trying to leave and find a way out, but stuff kept happening and kept pulling me back into it (mazes, getting lost, and one time I even made it out and was almost home free but some old dude got angry and pulled me back in just because I left him behind). And I'd get this same dream scenario every now and then and despite trying different routes and approaches, nope. Thankfully, it stopped many years ago.

But the freakiest reoccurring thing that used to happen in ALL my dreams was with light switches. Every single time I flicked one up to get some lights on, everything would instantly go dark, everything I saw would get scrambled like a bad video game glitch, and there was this very distinctive BRRRRRRTTTTT sound that was the same dang thing every single time it happened. And I fell for that same stupid trap so many dang times, especially in dimly-lit places in my dreams.

My most recent one was falling in love with a cyborg ;_; basically it was a regular guy but with an entirely robot head! He was so lovely and we slowdanced... kindof a daft punk vibe but more articulated and with a light blue vision screen. Why are you not real, robot man??
And then the next day, Daft Punk broke up! Double noooo!

Neo, do your dreams still freak out when you hit a switch? You used past tense! I often get a dream glitch when I look in a mirror, because like... my body doesnt have a well defined shape in my mind, so I have to focus all my brainpower on figuring out what I'm choosing to look like. The rest of the dream begins to rumble and shake and dissolve if I look for too long, or make too many alterations at once.

Chakra, did you hear or see anything during sleep paralysis? I've kinda had two types- one where I'm falling asleep and my body has totally turned off but my brain is still going and i can't make me move, but I'm also not dreaming so I'm just kinda chillin waiting for brain to switch off too? And those are common and fine!
Then the other type I get is where something really distressing is happening in a dreamscape version of the room and I'm struggling to wake up or move or squeak out a "help me!", which sucks. But also because I'm actually still paralyzed it's not like, upsetting to anyone else; theres no shouting or thrashing like you might with a nightmare.

I don’t think the light switch thing applies anymore (hope I didn’t jinx myself). But that was an ongoing thing for YEARS but I think it’s all past now. But it was like bam, you flick a switch and you get treated to a game-glitch style electrocution finish and I usually woke up feeling freaked out and awful from that. Also, having mirrors freak out in a dream is actually a common theme! I’ve heard of other people getting that. Can’t say I’ve had too much of it myself, but it’s possible I just don’t remember.

And yeah, I’ve had sleep paralysis. That SUCKS. And it usually happens at bad times, in dreams where I want to wake up, but nope, “you’re stuck here, go back to sleep, get dragged right into the nightmare you were trying to weasel your way out of.”

I’ve also tried lucid dreaming, where you try to become aware you’re in a dream so you can screw around with everything and become dream god. I’ve had it happen a few times where I realized I was in a dream, but it had that feeling of “uh oh” and suddenly I felt like a wizard that ran out of mana, feeling like I was capable of crazy “anything you want” powers but just didn’t know how to make them work.

And yeah, I’ve had HEAPS of Pokémon-related dreams. The absolute best one was being an Emolga in a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon setting, and the title of the story was “Tale of the Rogues” with me leading this band of rag-tag Pokémon that were former humans across rugged terrain, lush forests, and other fun adventures. It was fantastic but I never figured out what the calamity or crisis was. XD

Lychee

Lucid dreaming is fun! I often realize I'm in a dream because I've got like... stuff I can do in dreams that I cant irl? like change my outfit at will, fly/glide, breathe underwater, or disintegrate things I dont like, but I usually just stick to those skills otherwise I lose my grip on the dream. I like your way of treating it like mana! I guess I have cantrips I can use safely without it being a drain, and anything more than that is... unsteadying to the fabric of dream reality, and tiring!

And I use the disintegration sparingly-- it's good for getting rid of annoyances but things can respawn if they're actually important in the dream. At that point I'm like... ok, looks like I need to get rid of this person/obstacle another way.

I had a friend who had lots of dreams of being helpless, and we worked on getting them to always have a laser gun in their pocket in their dreams- because to them, their dream skills werent in their body, they were in objects around them. It was so cool hearing about the magical objects they found in the future!

My most distinct pokemon dream I think I was a squirtle and it was some kind of battle royale and I was surprised that using water gun didnt make me feel like I was projectile vomiting xD It was just easy and natural!

I don't remember all that happened like that, but I remember the first one. I was just walking and someone grabbed me on the shoulder as I walked past. Then things felt like they were spinning really fast. Suddenly I was conscious, but couldn't wake up. Like you said. My brain turned on, but my body didn't. I couldn't move or speak. Nothing was happening in the dream either. Just me not being able to open my eyes or move.

One time I did manage to slowly force my eyes open, but never doing that again if I have an episode of it. Not being able to move, but having your eyes open is a horrible groggy feeling.
Neo Emolga yeah I wish I had more Pokémon related dreams xD. Those would be nice. They were nice when I was younger.

If I could master lucid dreaming, I'd be taking down Godzilla-sized monsters, endless swarms and armies of evil bad guys and stuff in the most epic battles ever using all kinds of fun magic and transformation powers. Some crazy vehicular combat would be great, too. XD It would be so insane but just so much dang fun. Sure, start it off like another innocent PMD game like "Tale of the Rogues" and then have it escalate into something so hardwired and intoxicated on epic insanity like that!

Something kinda like Ready Player One? Where you can be anyone or anything? Where there's some magical quest to find something that's the key to unlocking a special something that creates an epic tale and fight for the prize?

During the very short and very rare few times when things seem slow in the franchise, I sometimes think "eh, maybe it's time to move on from Pokemon" and then bam, something comes along and I'm so darn easily hooked back in again.

Although with the way some people are obsessively hooked into certain silly things like sports, Disney, Dungeons and Dragons, and other crazy hobbies, nothing to be ashamed about having continued interest in a 25 year old major franchise.

Given how far it has come in 25 years, I'd say it's quite possible and very likely within our lifetimes. Looking at the way Pokemon started off as black and white sprites on GameBoy to what it is now with fully animated 3D models with expressions, reactions, and personalities, we've come a dang long way and it's simply magical.

I've been playing mostly Let's Go, Eevee because before, I had only gotten up to Cerulean City and didn't even bother beating Misty, so like 90% of the game was unfinished. As for where I am now, I just finished going through the secret Team Rocket base in Celadon and got Erika's badge. Really not sure why I quit so early before, it's definitely still a fun little game and Eevee is a fun partner to have along.

As much as I love Pikachu. I could only play Let's Go Pikachu so much. After it became quite tedious playing on a repeat setting. I didn't like having to farm for Pokémon I wanted either. Wasn't as fun as the normal game settings personally. Still fun through a play through once.

Neo Emolga

For me, it's the whole process of catching Pokémon in Let's Go that's tricky. It's okay if the Pokémon stays in the middle, but if they move off to the side, forget it, it just doesn't register me throwing the Pokéball to the far right or left. It was a neat idea but it just doesn't work sometimes and it makes me wonder if the place where I have my Nintendo Switch is messing things up.

It's having me dread what it must take to catch Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo...

Thanks for the offer, but it's multiple things, really. From tiers, what movesets a Pokémon should have, and then the whole "don't use that, use this" debate.

Yeah, that's the other nice thing about PMD games, too. No need to fret about that stuff, just relax, enjoy the story, get immersed, and have your heartstrings pulled around.

But that's the other nice thing about Pokemon, too. If storyline and the feeling of adventure is more your jam than the competitive battling scene, PMD has you covered. :3 But the folks who love that thrill of building a team and taking it head to head with others have their picnic, too. It's great for that.

I haven't been labeled as a Snowchu for snow reason now xD. Fantasize over it? XD. I mean it's real though! I'm glad it's funny and all. Thing is, people that live with it on a daily basis through winter think it's nothing new and most hate it cause of what a pain it can be. Believe me I totally get that. To someone like me though where it's like hot year round. Hardly ever get what would be called a "Winter" it's...hmm, well like a dream xD. I've always loved it when we got snow here and to know three different types and all and how much better it is where it naturally snows well. It's like a dream hahah. Leaves much to be desired. I would say we'll probably never have a blizzard here, but look what happened to Texas. That's the kind of snow storm I'd like to see one day. A foot of snow here would be like a dream. Especially if it's the fluffy kind. Texas even got that in that storm.

Yeah it snowed when I was really young. I remember my parents bundling me up like the kid from A Christmas Story. Seriously I don't need that much now xD. Maybe back then. That was for just like...2 inches of snow. We used it all up plus mud, leaves, and sticks to try and make snowmen back then. Was enough to satisfy the kid me, but now I want all the snow. Like the 6-12+ inches the north gets. Heck exactly what Texas got. They got the "northern" type of snow. Fluffy and tons of it.

Call it cute and comical all you want those of you that live with it on a daily winter basis. To me, it'd be like a dream come true to experience it and I'd enjoy it. Even the shoveling. Sounds fun to me! Why I've been joking with the Snowchu thing like you've joked too xD. Heck even to experience a blizzard at this point sounds fun.

I swear I should've gone to become a psychologist. I can look at things from a psychological standpoint. I see a scene from a movie I watched and someone that experiences their dream only to have it taken away. He turned into a murdering psychopath. XD I can totally understand those feelings of dread and despair. I mean I wouldn't lose control like that myself, but I mean I know and understand those feelings to an extent. There was something similar I experienced like it when I was younger.

But yeaaaaah it's still a real dream of mine to experience "REAL" snow and if possible a snowstorm.

It's a tough decision. I've got my core all out of the way. It's just deciding what. Cyber Security is REALLY big lately. Especially here in my city. The latest build and most up to date cyber security center in the nation. So it's worth looking into...again.

Well, if she's paying the rent and the one you want is more expensive, I don't see why it would be an issue if you pay the difference from what the other one costs.

But if you're paying the rent entirely, no way should this even be an issue.

The apartments are roughly the same price so it’s negligible either way (I’m not kidding it’s like $25 different). But I will be paying the entire rent so again, you’d think it’d be my choice. But alas, I do not get a vote.

Either way at this point I could care very little, since this will be one of the final decisions she gets a say in for a while.

That sounds like it kinda sucks!
My mum had a hand in one of my most recent rentals too- also not because she paid, but because she had a strong opinion! "I love this place! I would live here! Dont leave it! It's so handy for me!" But eventually after I told her about all the problems with living there she agreed it wasn't the best... idk how much time you've got to change her mind or if she ever will though.
Will you feel bitter about your place if you have to choose the one she chooses for you?

Two of my friends actually BOUGHT houses recently and wheeww that sounds like such an effort but also they all seem so relieved to no longer have to pay rent to a random landlord, and to be able to hang hooks, paint walls, or change things about the kitchens!
I went to one friends house the other day and he had like, a smart lock on the door? It had finger print stuff and codes and sung a little song and logged who went in it and when. And he made all his lights voice activated! like WOAH SO FANCY! I dont think his parents had any say in it... but idk if his parents have met his partners either so I guess some people just live relatively family pressure free!

WHY DO YOU NOT GET A VOTE? The entire decision should be up to you! This is your living arrangement, if she doesn't like it, too bad! Heck, if you moved way out of state, there's nothing she could do about it.

Really, this is serious control freak condescending paternalism.

Not enough time really and she’s pretty much already set her mind to this place so I doubt I could convince her otherwise.

Ye it’s not like I hate the place or anything. In terms of a lot of things like space and amenities it is definitely better, it’s just not what I want.

Yeah the fact you're the one paying the rent and you don't get a vote makes no sense at all. I mean what's stopping you from letting her let you move into one. Then moving out and into the other? Since after all. It's your money and your choice.

Most of my computer hardware is pretty old, but heck, it's been reliable. I'd gladly take reliable over the lights and gizmo junk.

It's crazy, the Razer stuff I used to have caused all kinds of problems and barely lasted a year before I finally had to get rid of the junk, whereas the Logitech stuff I have has been still alive and kicking after a decade.

My Razer products stopped working after like a month of use. They don't build for quality. Same goes for Alienware.

Alienware you're practically paying for the name brand. That's it.

Neo Emolga
03-26-2021, 12:03 AM
Oh man, Alienware is such a MASSIVE waste of money. Fastest way to spend an extra $3000 for no good reason.

It's like the BMW (Big Money Waste) of computers. I've never used an Alienware computer, but there's a good reason for that. Even just five more minutes of shopping around will help you find other sites that sell the same thing but drastically cheaper.

I find it hilarious that one of Alienware's ad campaigns was urging people to buy it for the "bragging rights."

Yeah I remember when a friend of mine got one and I wanted one. They were just so expensive. Not worth it now. Heck once I get my computer back I'll probably have to buy a new graphics card. Simple fixes. I also only wanted laptops. Now I have room for a desktop and it's way better.

Neo Emolga
03-28-2021, 12:07 AM
Yeah, there was a time I thought I needed a whole new computer, but just replacing the graphics card was all I needed in the end. The RAM and processor are still pretty good and aren't too far off from what's considered the best on the market right now. Although I don't really obsess with tracking framerate. As long as it just feels smooth, I'm good.

Though it's crazy how avid people are out to buy the latest graphics card for crazy gobs of money even though a slightly older card can still play stuff in Ultra and be much, much cheaper. I guess that's where Alienware snags people who don't do their homework. They try to get people to think that in order to play the latest games with the best graphics and framerate, you absolutely have to have the latest hardware and spend like $6K for it.

You can get the 3D rendering for free. I am not sure about the staff and the expensive licenses, but the 3D stuff you can get for free. DiVinci Resolve and Blender are two of em.

Edit: Brain poop. Blender is the 3D software, DiVinci is just a video/audio editor.

Yeah, I haven't worked with 3D software in decades. Last time was in college with 3D Studio Max, and that was like 16 years ago. I mainly worked with 3D primitive shapes, I didn't do too much actual reshaping. I tried but man, it's tough and very tedious to get it to cooperate. XD
