So as a few of you might know, lately I've become a huge nerd for the trading card game, Magic: the Gathering. It's been around for awhile, and it's been the inspiration for a lot of the other big TCG's we have nowadays, namely Yu-Gi-Oh.

So, are any of you guys also nerds for MTG? If so, what decks do you run? Favorite formats? Favorite colors? Guild? Shard? Set? Anything else on the subject you wanna share?

As for myself, my current Standard deck is B/U mill (with some green splashed for Deathrite shaman), though I am building some others currently. I also have an Esper-colored lifegain deck for commander, and I'm building another commander deck based around Rosheen Meanderer (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=159412). As far as guilds and shards go, I love the guild of Selesnya, and Naya and Jund are my favorite shards.

I used to play Magic ALL THE TIME!
But I've stopped recently. The last deck I used was a crazy Elves deck with a splash of black. It was based around Ezuri Renegade Leader and it wrecked.

I am a magic fan. However I don't have much chances to play any more. I finished school four months ago, and don't see my magic playing friends much any more.

I prefer red, though I like my Mono Black deck. The broken combo of Sanguine Bond and Exquisite Blood haha

I just got back into playing it again. I'm not all that good like the rest of my friends though. I love red but lately blue green has been giving me some good luck.

I'm a big limited fan myself. I draft pretty often because of that.

I play basically everything, and have no set deck at any given time.

Standard decks I'm toying with right now:
Bant Control
UR Scry
GB Rock

Modern decks:
UB Faeries
Soul Sisters
Melira Pod
Zoo

Legacy:
Dredge
Elfball

Commander:
Captain Sisay
Kaalia of the Vast
Derevi, the guy that untaps things
Jeleva, the girl that everyone hates because she exiles your library

I've played MTG for quite a while now. Although I'm not very serious, I'm more about the fun so I usually just play with friends. I just identify my decks by color. I have a:

Black/Blue
White/Blue
Red/Black (Probably worst)
Green/Red (Best)
Blue/Green (Very new)

Aaaand I also have my infect deck which is the only deck where I purchased the individual cards.

I used to play MTG, but I stopped around the days of Tempest (1997). Those Tempest packs were probably the last ones I got. I imagine so much has probably changed since then.

I still have the cards, but I haven't touched them in years. Makes me wonder if they're actually worth anything, though I have no clue how I would go about getting cash out of selling them.

My friend want to get me into it. I'm willing to give it a try. I used to be pleasantly good at games like this back in the day.

I used to play very frequently among friends, but they all got their degrees so once they left I haven't played at all. My favourite deck is Red/White or Red/White/Green. Although I did have good luck playing Red/Black as well. I never mastered the finer parts of the game so I was pretty reliant on Red lol. My worst deck was White/Blue and I don't think I ever won a game with it.

Me and my friends play occasionally, mostly just casually amongst ourselves. I'm a big fan of the Izzet League and the Dimir, though I have a Simic deck that's a lot of fun, too.

My favorite decks include my life deck (white, all about gaining and keeping ludicrous amounts of life), my werewolf deck (red/green and tons of fun!), a Dimir inspired mill deck (B/U), and my Izzet burn deck (R/U).

Could of sworn I had a thread about this awhile back lol ;p

but yeah i love mtg. In fact, I'm going to a Journey into Nyx PreRelease for it today =)

Modern Deck: B/U/R Mill

EDH deck: B/U/G with Vraskaaa ;D

Standard (after rotation): Green/White <--- Not sure if i want to build because it's pricey and I hardly get to go to a standard local tournament

Pauper: mono black merchant (Gray Merchant of Aphsodel)

OMG a MTG thread?!?!

Yup I'm another Magic fan and player. Really love the amount of effort put into the game. Return to Ravnica was by far my most favourite block (since Ravnica was my most favourite plane and lore). I'm part of err....I forgot...I think it was House Dimir or something...wait I don't even think that name exists /shrugs

I'm following JOU but too poor atm build a deck :/

I wonder if I should release my large set (226 cards) for Meguca the Gathering here. Please let me know if you guys are interested in seeing like a custom set here and there.

btw, I was playing a few legacy matches last night. CRAZY! The matchups are very difficult and I keep getting caught in daze/force of will traps against the delver/stoneblade player. I was playing a BUG homebrew deck myself (and that deck is mad expensive already, and I still don't have the wastelands and duals >.<).

Also, what's everyone's favourite god/goddess in this plane?

Congrats, walker~ :)

Also, what's everyone's favourite god/goddess in this plane?

hehe thanks ;)

My favorite Gods/Goddesses are (ability wise)

Iroas
Kruphix

Did you know that Mogis and Iroas are twin brothers who both are the God of War. Mogis is the bad side of war (The God of Slaughter) while Iroas is the good side of war (The God of Victory).

Did you know that Elspeth was made champion by Heliod. Kruphix tells Elspeth of how to defeat Xenagos but with a price. We all assume she is now dead from what Erebos has said in the "Journey Into Nyx" set trailer.

I'll probably throw up a MTG story at some point. It'll be different then other MTG stories that are made.

A high school friend of mine is a nerd for Magic, and I have some cards, but I've never had the chance to play. I'd really like the chance to, though. I wish I knew of places where to go to play.

On a similar topic, I also want to get back into playing the Pokemon TCG. Would there happen to be a site or something where I can go to search for Leagues in my area?

Bradenton, FL. Have no idea if that's near you or not, lol. Unfortunately, I have no way of getting the new cards since I don't have a job yet.... *cries* I'm trying to get my externship set up and get a salary established.

I love Commander.

My main Commander decks currently use:
Kaalia of the Vast
Vorel of the Hull Clade
Rafiq of the Many
Oloro, Ageless Ascetic
Captain Sissay
Mayael, the Anima
Sliver Overlord

And I'm working on building:
Marchessa, the Black Rose
Trostani, Selesnyia's Voice (may replace Commander with Rhys, the Redeemed if I can get one)
Skullbriar, the Walking Grave
Jhoira of the Ghitu (though I have basically nothing I need for it :x)

... Yeah, I have too many decks. But I like them all! Also, my favorite guild of Ravnica has always and will always be Simic.

Just had a cube draft with some buddies.

Won the cube draft with a super fast red deck, powered by jitte, batterskull, sword of war and peace, time walk, mox ruby and mox sapphire. Ya, I just...attacked. Attacked more, time walk, attack, burn face.

I once beat Elspeth, Sun's Champion AND Sorin, Lord of Innistrad together with a red deck. :O

Ash K.
06-21-2014, 06:23 AM
... That sounds like a very nice (and expensive) cube.

And for my list of Commander decks in progress, because I seem to be unable to stop myself, I forgot that I'm making UW which will probably run Bruna, Light of Alabaster as Commander.

Has anyone else noticed the foil prices for Conspiracy seem to be ridiculous?

Homura
06-21-2014, 02:56 PM
ya the cube is very expensive. I mean, most of the power 9's in there. Like real ones. I have yet to play ancestral recall yet though. Silly "not getting it first pick" and what not.

Conspiracy prices are pretty unstable still. This set is unlikely to be opened much, so I'm slowly picking up the singles I want starting now. Mostly legacy staples and what not. This foil prices are ridiculous because of the legacy staples in the set: council's judgement is playable, exploration/stifle/Dack Fayden/etc. are all Legacy staples, so their foils are ridiculous. Brainstorm foils will always be ridiculous. Marchesa and Muzzio are high because EDH.

Bruna's a really easy build-around-me Commander. Just throw in auras you want and done. If you're hardcore for it though, her decks can get pretty expensive as you're hunting down foil eldrazi conscriptions and what not.

Just like you, I personally have a LOT of EDH decks, because I generally prefer to play with a lot of variety. :D

Ash K.
06-21-2014, 04:46 PM
I generally build from what I have and trade for things when I can. The problem comes when I have a ton of decks begging for the same card, like Avacyn, Angel of Hope, which I have two of (Captain Sissay and Kaalia of the Vast) but would like to put in basically every White deck. I have an Eldrazi Conscription, but it's an essential part of Rafiq of the Many (Sovereigns of Lost Alara allow it to be searched out when attacking and it boosts Rafiq enough for lethal commander damage).

It always seems like everything I have to trade is worthless and everything I need is really expensive :(

I just tend to get lucky in card packs lolz or I just get a card and sell it for profit. (From any card game)

Homura

Ya I'm the opposite of lucky for my pack opening. I almost never get anything great.

Ash K.
06-24-2014, 07:06 AM
I usually get junk from packs, though one time I did get a foil Ulamog, the Infinite Gye. Followed by a regular Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre a few packs later. There was also a FNM where I got Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Hero's Downfall, Boon Satyr, (maybe Thoughseize?), and some other stuff totalling about $80. That was actually the Friday before XY came out. Another someone sold me their three prize packs and I got Kiora, the Crashing Wave and a Courser of Kruphix.

Usually not so good though.

While I was at my local comic book store this summer, I was introduced to MTG. Having not played Yugioh and Pokemon in years, I was interested in what MTG was all about and I started playing. My first deck I bought was The Born of The Gods Arbiter Ideal deck (Black/Blue) since I liked the Dimir playing style concept. Along with Dimir, I'm also a huge fan of the Rakdos style and I've been building different decks, mainly with Black as one of the colors in the deck. Once I get the 2015 Black Commander deck for Christmas, I'll swap some of the cards in it with some of my others to make a semi-decent devotion to black deck. I'm also a sucker for Demon cards with no terrible drawback so I especially hope to add to my collection of those.

I really love MTG, just don't play it that often. I bought the same deck that Jace uses in Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 and mixed it with my Devouring Skies (New Phyrexia Intro Pack) deck. So I use a blue/black hybrid, focusing on both players drawing an insane amount of cards per turn (while requiring you to throw away of course to stay at the hand limit).
The more cards in the opponents graveyard, the stronger my cards. Also filled with many counter spells and even MORE cards than can make my opponent draw up to around 10 cards in a single turn (seriously, that's ridiculous), 9 out of 10 wins I have is because the opponent can no longer draw.

Defensive power is low though, so there's the drawback. =(

Dreamborn Muse (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=247140)
Vedalken Entrancer (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=254121)

Crippling Chill (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=386510)
Darkslick Drake (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=194217)
Scroll Thief (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=370651)
Wheel and Deal (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=42184)
Telemin Performance (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=189085)
Into the Roil x2 (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=389560)
Jace's Erasure x2 (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=227227)
Visions of Beyond (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=220226)
Thought Scour x3 (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=380203)
Mind Sculpt x2 (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=383313)

And of course some random creatures strewn about here and there. When played right, the combination of Jace's Erasure, Howling Mine and Font of Mythos alone has me drawing 4 cards at the beginning of my turn and having my opponent discard 4. Add all the other little cards in there such as Mind Sculpt (discard 7 cards) and matches can fly by.

Like all other card games however, it's very dependent on the luck of the draw. I still need some cards in there that allow me to search my deck for certain cards, without it it's pretty luck based.

Windfall would be amazing synergy with Jace's Erasure though, throw away your hand, take new cards and have the opponent discard even MORE xD

I have a coworker at my job that convinced me to get back into MTG. Seems like they've changed quite a bit, but not to the point where I don't think I could get back into it. He's big into Commander decks, so I'm going to try to get into that.

Just ordered the 2014 Green Commander deck from Amazon and will probably give it a test drive. But if you guys have any modding recommendations, I'm all ears. I need to get back up to speed after being out of the loop for about... yikes, fifteen years now. XD

I took the Freyalise deck and turned it into a more Elf tribal deck, adding things like Nissa Revane (and of course a Nissa's Chosen for her), Elvish Harbinger, Elvish Champion, Joraga Treespeaker, Heedless one, etc. Another thing I want to build is a deck using Titania, Protector of Argoth (who comes in that deck) instead with a bunch of land sacrificing and resurrecting (of course, that means Crucible of Worlds is an absolute must and that's hard to get).

Also, I am excited for Fate Reforged! Doing a prerelease at a local store later today and one on campus tomorrow. I actually like Manifest, seems cool and will fit very well into my Animar, Soul of Elements morph EDH deck. Not to mention all the dragons... Can't wait to see Dragons of Tarkir as well.

Also, how did I miss this thread becoming active again?

The shell of the Green Commander deck is elves + big creatures. You can take it in either direction for the most part, either more elf focused, or more "big dudes" focused.

My suggestion is to play around 5 games with it first to get the feel of it, and see where you want to take it after that. The big problem I have with monogreen decks in general is its lack of mass removal, which may or may not be an issue with your play group.

Yeah, in the past, I didn't do monodecks, but I'll play this out a few times to see how it rolls on it's own and make the adjustments as to what I think might help it out. Usually I paired green with red, since those two compliment each other nicely to pump out big creatures quickly and for the nice mix of instants (plus red handles the mass removal issue you brought up). The only issue with that would be finding good red/green commander candidates.

I've seen a couple Gruul commanders, such as
Ruric Thar, the Unbowed
Xenegos, God of Revels
Thromok, the Insatiable
Stonebrow, Krosan Hero
Radha, Heir to Keld
I can also imagine there's potential in Rosheen Meanderer or Wort, the Raidmother if you build it right. However, I did get the Freyalise deck to work quite well as mono-green Elf tribal with some modifications.

I got so lucky at the prerelease yesterday. Promo Soulfire Grandmaster, another Soulfire Grandmother, Flooded Strand, and an Ugin, the Spirit Dragon in the prize packs.

You do have options for monogreen mass removal, it's just generally expensive to get:
Ugin (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=391948)
All is Dust (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=193658)
Disk (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=389616)
Oblivion Stone (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=247338)
Vault (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=383342)

I mean, those would be the core of what you have, but Ugin and AID are very expensive cards.

Wort (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=147379) has the unique ability of fireball --> conspire to fork said fireball for extra pain.
Atarka, World Render (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=391796) does 12 commander damage. Not bad for a relatively cheap (money-wise) commander.

I'm much more into Temur commanders:
Riku (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=236469)
Animar (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=236504)
Maelstrom Wanderer (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=338447)

Ash: Nice! Some great winnings there!

Thanks! (And I totally haven't had this tab open for a month meaning to post this, I swear.)

I currently use Animar as a Morph(/Manifest) Commander because the only Commander who synergizes better with Morphs is mono-Blue (Ixidor, Reality Sculptor) and it just is too limiting in terms of Morphs and support for them.

So, about those Dragons of Tarkir spoilers... Thoughts, everyone?

I built a Teferi (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=389712) deck. Wow, I'm a jerk with that deck. I've done silly things like ultimate Teferi and then proceed to use Karn's (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=214350) ability 5 billion times. I've also ultimated Tamiyo (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=240070) with rewind (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=280222) in hand. Locking people out is hilarious.

Dragons is interesting as a set so far. Lots of flying though, so drafting it wouldn't automatically mean it's "unblockable" like some other sets. Of the Dragonlords, I think Silumgar (http://mythicspoiler.com/dtk/cards/dragonlordsilumgar.html) is the best one out of them all. Atarka (http://mythicspoiler.com/dtk/cards/dragonlordatarka.html) is probably the least inspiring one (since it's really just a bogardan hellkite (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=389445)).

The commands are pretty uninspiring, just because they feel like nerfed original commands.

The 2-drop megamorphs...I really like Stratus Dancer (http://mythicspoiler.com/dtk/cards/stratusdancer.html) the most. The green one is good too.

Narset (http://mythicspoiler.com/dtk/cards/narsettranscendent.html) will likely slot into Jeskai tokens pretty well with Dragon Fodder.

Sarkhan...Sarkhan...*sigh* w/e dragon guy.

Okay, here's the red and green Commander deck I finally put together. I originally didn't intend for it to focus on dragons, but after looking around, I found there's a LOT of really nice dragons out there. And who doesn't love dragons? :3

So here's what I have:

COMMANDER
Atarka, World Render

Ya Neo. My major complaint is the lack of lands in a mostly land-hungry deck. You'll likely need to mulligan pretty hard for lands with only 30, where I think more optimally you should be looking at 38-40, even with acceleration.

Hey, thanks, I've added in a few extra things to help with the mana stuff as well as some other adjustments.

Before, it was hitting some snags and I've come across some WAY better cards that fit what I'm trying to do (extreme wrath of dragons). Also, I made little notes by some of the cards as to what I'm intending them for.

COMMANDER (1)
Atarka, World Render (because giving all dragons (and there are many, many dragons) double strike means LOTS and LOTS of damage).

CREATURES (29)
Moltensteel Dragon (can be brought out a bit earlier with some life loss if needed)
Flameblast Dragon (5/5 for 2R4C with an ability to just auto-roast a potential blocker before the attack is good stuff!)
Ryusei, the Falling Star (most of the important creatures in this deck are flying, so the 5 damage upon death to everything not in the air is way more painful on the opponent than on me)
Stormbreath Dragon (4/4 Flying, haste, and protection from white are pretty good. The Monstrosity cost is pretty high and I haven't really had a situation where I've needed it though)
Thundermaw Hellkite (5/5 Flying and haste for 2R3C is pretty good. Plus it taps (and kills the 1/1s) all of the opponents defending fliers).
Rorix Bladewing (6/5 flying & haste. Great for dishing out nice, fast damage)
Balefire Dragon (6/6 flier with an army-killing ability if it hits the opponent. VERY nice stuff)
Hellkite Tyrant (6/5 flying artifact stealer with trample for only 2R4C. Yum!)
Furyborn Hellkite ("oh, I'll just take the 1 damage." Make that a BIG mistake with this beasty 6/6 flier that's got Bloodthirst 6! Pricy but worth it!)
Lightning Dragon (The echo cost is pesky, but it's not a bad deal to bring out this flier to start whacking at things early)
Bogardan Hellkite (Say hello and goodbye! 5/5 Flash and Flying and deals 5 distributable damage just for showing up! Works great as a surprise blocker.)
Covetous Dragon (Cheap, strong dragon for only five mana. All it requires is to have an artifact down, and this deck's got plenty of those)
Kilnmouth Dragon (This guy typically goes in first while I've got a hand full of dragons. He's gone in as a 14/14 once, which is something you definitely want on your side. The ability works great for just axing potential blockers for the other dragons to go in for the chomp.)
Hoard-Smelter Dragon (If Hellkite Tyrant's not around to poach stuff, this guy will be the bull in a china shop if need be).
Dragon Broodmother (Aren't they adorable!? Pricy dragon, but it pumps out 1/1 devour 2 fliers EVERY upkeep and makes for zany multiplayer matches. Combine with Utvara Hellkite for even MORE 6/6 dragons by the truckload. And they can be used for Eldrazi Monument food if necessary to make everything just... insane.
Two-Headed Dragon (Painful to deal with, as it's inflatable and can eat away two attackers or defenders at the same time. Not a bad mana cost for what it's capable of.
Shivan Dragon (It's the inflatable classic!)
Hellkite Charger (Flying, haste, and can make your whole army attack twice! SUPER FATAL with Atarka flying about!)
Destructor Dragon (Killing it might just be as bad as keeping it alive!)
Siege Dragon (Kill the walls, and then kill the weenies for not having walls! That's right, be a jackass!)
Utvara Hellkite (SICK combo with Dragon Broodmother, and since the deck is STUFFED with dragons, you're looking at a 6/6 psychotic dragon factory right here)
Dragonmaster Outcast (for just 1 RED MANA, as long as you just have six lands sitting about (easy to have), you get a 5/5 dragon token EVERY UPKEEP. That's... INSANE! Also, if direly needed, the tokens can also be more Eldrazi Monument food)
Ball Lightning (Quick, fast damage. Lovely with Lifeline out)
Elvish Mystic (Mana ramping)
Fyndhorn Elves (Mana Ramping)
Llanowar Elves (Mana ramping classic)
Fyndhorn Elder (Extra Mana ramping)
Lifeblood Hydra (Inflatable creature with a LOT of potential card draw if it dies.)
Tinder Wall (Great for blocking early attackers and for mana ramping)

SORCERIES (13)
Arc Lightning (3 damage for distribution can wipe out those pesky 1/1s that have nasty abilities)
Apocalypse (Awesome wrath effect that cleans the ENTIRE board. Very good if the opponent gets indestructible stuff down that's becoming too much of a pain to deal with)
Cultivate (Mana ramping)
Into the Maw of Hell (What a name. Land kill and instant creature kill ain't a bad deal, my son. Why choose with Fissure when you get both?)
Mizzium Mortars (works for getting rid of one pesky bastard for cheap, or Overloading it to clean up an enemy army that's becoming a problem.)
Harmonize (Jacking up cards in hand)
Disintegrate (Good for getting rid of anything with indestructible. Gotta have some exile effects just in case).
Earthquake (Dragons fly, so everyone else on the ground... adios amigos!)
Lava Burst (Great for making sure something absolutely needs to die)
Fireball (Customize how you want everything on the opposing side to fry!)
Life's Legacy (Massive potential card draw for the cost of a creature. Works even better with Lifeline)
Rampant Growth (More mana ramping)
Explosive Vegetation (Mana ramping)

INSTANTS (8)
Giant Growth (+3/+3 because they never saw it coming)
Fog (Fast, efficient way to make an opponent's attack just... completely meaningless. I only use it if the damage goes above 5 and I need to buy some time)
Incinerate (Toasty! Good for making sure whatever's cookin' doesn't come back to life)
Respite (Like Fog, only with extra life!)
Lightning Bolt (It's the classic one red 3 damage zap!)
Starstorm (Do things look grim with that big army attacking you and you've got no defenders to help?! Why not just... destroy them all!?)
Harrow (Mana ramping)
Fork (Why settle for doing it once when you can do it twice!?)

ENCHANTMENTS (5)
Concordant Crossroads (For haste and mana ramping from the elves and such. Great to use just after summoning a bunch of stuff like lots of dragon tokens! And yes, I combined this with Sarkan Vol's -6 dragon creation swarm for a WIN)
Awakening Zone (Mana ramping, chump blockers, food for Eldrazi Monument)
Squirrel Nest (chump blockers, food for Eldrazi Monument)
Wild Growth (Mana ramping)
Greater Good (Card draw in case a dragon is targeted by a lethal spell. Or, combine with Lifeline for drawing as much as you like!)

ARTIFACTS (7)
Quicksilver Amulet (for summoning big dragons earlier and cheaper)
Lifeline (Dragons ending up in the graveyard? Think again! Sure, it revives the opponent's creatures also, but most of the dragons have things to deal with that. Also, pairing this with Eldrazi Monument makes for great, great fun)
Nevinyrral's Disk (In case everything just needs to... die.)
Sylvan Library (Be choosy, and if it's really necessary, take the burn for extra, possibly game-deciding extra cards).
Chromatic Lantern (Makes casting stuff much more easier. Only got mountains or only got forests? Well, who cares now?)
Sol Ring (Mega mana ramping)
Eldrazi Monument (BECAUSE INDESTRUCTIBLITY ROCKS. Squirrel Nest, Dragon Broodmother, Freyalise, Dragonmaster Outcast, and Awakening Zone can all produce the turn-by-turn fodder needed to keep all the MASSACRING DRAGONS untouchable. Sarkan and Utvara Hellkite could potentially dump in more tokens to contribute, and worst case scenario, there's the option of sacking elves. Get Lifeline and this down at the same time and poof, the creature sacrifice isn't even an issue anymore)

PLANESWALKERS (4)
Sarkhan Vol (Creature buffing, control, and dumping truckloads of dragons on the field)
Chandra, the Firebrand (Kills weenies for lunch, multi Fork effects, and the third ability is another army wipe-out effect.)
Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury (Dumps in hordes of green mana-producing elves, and can kill nasty artifacts and enchantments. I doubt I'd use the -6 ability card draw much, though, but the elves can also be Eldrazi Monument food if needed)
Nissa, Worldwaker (Using her mainly for mega-mana ramping via forest untap and if necessary, extra creatures to join in on the mayhem.)

LANDS (32)
Forest 10x
Mountain 10x
Havenwood Battleground
Tranquil Thicket
Kazandu Refuge
Rootbound Crag
Myriad Landscape
Karplusan Forest
Rugged Highlands
Jungle Basin
Temple of Abandon
Gruul Truf
Terramorphic Expanse
Evolving Wilds

I am definitely open to recommendations, changes, or whatever, but so far, I've been seeing this deck do a lot better since the last posting.

So, I'm in the process of making another commander deck, this time a white, green, and blue one. The price of some of these cards was a doozy, but I think it'll be worth it. Let me know if this has a better shot of being a good commander deck to fly with.

Neo Emolga Sure I'll take a look at all this:

I like the direction of where the dragon deck is going. I like the mass of dragons, and a clear game plan where you get to that point.

So for land, I have a few easy cuts:
Ball lightning: I really prefer damage output that is higher than a set 6 that can be blocked easy.
Llanowar Elf, Fydhorn Elder, Fydhorn Elf, Elvish Mystic: Elder especially. It's nice to have, but I think that just having 4 extra lands are more useful than the ramp that dies to removal.
Tinder Wall: You have 40 life, and in general commander isn't a format where you'll be beaten down by 1-3 mana creatures. And also an easy cut for land.

I'm not saying to add land just for land's sake. It's because they do a lot while making sure you don't mana screw as well. Also you need it for squirrel nest's function (you can cast spells and get a squirrel):
Kessig Wolf Run: Powerful land that generates you mana, but also lets you dump mana onto a double striking Atarka to just kill a guy off.
High Market: It's a really easy way to sac a creature as a sac outlet. Also lets you easily beat paths and swords with a lifeline out.
Cavern of Souls: Call Dragon. You're welcome
Crucible of the Spirit Dragon: Let's you bank mana over turns, and also fixes your mana to cast dragons more easily.
Haven of the Spirit Dragon: Free mana fixing for dragons, and brings dragons back.
Homeward Path: You remember that blue player who hates you and steals your dragons? Ya that's funny.
Miren, the Moaning Well: Also another sac outlet, but a bit harder to hit than high market.
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx: It makes a LOT of mana.
Okina, Temple to the Grandfathers: Pumps Atarka and other legendary creatures. Repeatedly.
Raging Ravine: Fixes your mana (R/G) and also becomes a 4/4 attacker that gets bigger.
Yavimaya Hollow: Regenerates dragons.
Wooded Foothills: Looks for Stomping Ground so you'll have R/G fixed easily.

I honestly think 38 lands is the sweet spot for this deck. I'd even go to 40 if I were to build it.

Other cards I think are great:
Oracle of Mal Daya/Courser of Kruphix: Both of these reward you for playing more lands, and gets rid of lands on the top of your deck so you draw dragons faster.
Kodama's Reach: The original cultivate. It's honestly better than wild growth.
Dragonlord Atarka: Did you did that girl? O_O
Thunderbreak Regeant: Oh you target ANY OF MY DRAGONS? Take 3. Better than giant growth for the most part.
Deathrender: Oh you killed the dragon this is equipped to. Oh well I guess I'll just play this dragon for free instead.
I'd also want to try to put in 1 or 2 cards that destroy enchantments/artifacts:
Bane of Progress: blow everything up and get a huge creature
Krosan Grip: They actually can't counter or respond to it. Say I cast this on your greater good, you can't sac guys in response to get use out of it before it goes away.

I'll take a look at the Bant deck in a bit as well~

Horura

Thank you! This was exactly the kind of guidance I was looking for. Also, I have Cavern of Souls for another deck and I love it. What's not to love? Eh... the price tag. But other than that, it's an awesome card.

Adding:
- Haven of the Spirit Dragon
- Raging Ravine
- Homeward Path
- Yavimaya Hollow

- Kodama's Reach
- Oracle of Mul Daya
- Courser of Kruphix

As for taking out the green-producing Elves, I'll try it and see how stuff like Oracle of Mul Daya and Courser of Kruphix go instead. I'll do that with the white, green, and blue deck I just posted as well.

For the Dragons, you have some very gaping Dragon-shaped holes:

Steel Hellkite (the X ability is amazing. Especially if they have a horde of tokens and you use X=0.)
Scourge of Valkas (Every Dragon deck needs it.)
Moonveil Dragon (Why Firebreathe one when you can Firebreath all?)
Scourge of the Throne (if you don't find yourself to be the highest life, of course)
Savage Ventmaw (free mana! Even better with extra combat steps like Scourge of the Throne!)
Hellkite Charger (combos with Savage Ventmaw to give additional combats for just one mana. Or without to get them for seven, you might not even care.)
Mana-Charged Dragon (Politics is always fun)

Also, I don't think Disintegrate works how you hope (it only exiles if the creature would die, it won't work on Indestructible creatures because they won't die in the first place.)

________________________________

Meanwhile, I still can't stop building my own commander decks. Most recently it was Sen Triplets. Also I hate myself because I might have found a deck that makes me want to start playing Modern, but for it I need to acquire some expensive cards (not to mention the lands...)

Homura

Gambled a MM2015 box. I lost about 120 dollars in the process. :P

Only 2 pulls from the box worth mentioning: Dark Confidant and Emerakul, which make up 70 bucks. I estimated the rest to about 30 bucks. Didn't pull a 3rd mythic in the box, which is why my value is less than half, where it should normally be over half.

Expected, sure. But still kinda sucks that instead of say double hierarch/AIDS/Fulminator/Wilt-leaf/Spellskite/twin/AiD I get double precursor golem and double swans. >.>

Oh well, you win some (conspiracy), you lose some (just about 1 box every time a new set comes out). XD

Homura - Again, thank you for all the awesome advice you've given me with the previous R/G dragon deck. I've started using a bunch of the recommendations you gave before (sorry for the delay, it takes a little while to order the cards, get them in the mail, put them in the deck, and then get a few games with them going). I haven't gotten to experiment with all of them yet, but I did start using High Market in combination with cards like Grab the Reins, Act of Treason, Act of Aggression, and Mark of Mutiny to temporarily attack a player with their own creature, and then sac it before they get it back. I'm also using Greater Good and Life's Legacy for other sac outlets.

I've also started using Cavern of Souls, Haven of the Spirit Dragon, Homeward Path, Raging Ravine, Yavimaya Hollow, Oracle of Mal Daya, Courser of Kruphix, Kodama's Reach, and Deathrender. Some of them haven't seen play action yet, but quite a few of them have, and they've been great! Oracle and Courser have actually seen quite a bit of action and man, they're good creatures. The only drawback with them is the card lying face up does give your opponent a heads up to anything that might be coming their way, but it's definitely not a deal-breaker.
