View Full Version : The Last Poster Wins [v29]

And it's Season 29! It's the return of the chatty game you only seem to remember when it's too late!

Rules are easy cheesy and you probably know them by now. If you're the last poster and 48 hours pass, you win! Basic PXR rules still apply, of course. :3

Kind of depends on how generous and willing those aliens are. And even if they transform you into a Chu, they could just keep you caged up and used for research. Doubt that'd be fun. :P

Dammit, I saw the thread dying and I almost posted in it to yeet the last post, but i got lazy.

Neo Emolga
05-02-2021, 09:17 PM
I have the bad habit of reading the last reply in the thread, but then not replying myself, so that ends up removing the "new posts" indicator that I typically use as a heads up that I'm not the last poster anymore and then I forget about the whole thing entirely. XP

yeah that tends to happen here too. I look at it and go "hmm, I should just say something." Then get lazy and just wait and forget.

Neo Emolga

Also... not crazy the weekend's already over. Bleh.

Haha yeah same here

Next weekend should be fun. A huge branch of a tree in the backyard broke off and it's pretty amazing it didn't pulverize the house or the fence on the way down. Although now it's leaning against another tree and I need to find a way to carefully bring it down without breaking anything. And then after that comes some chainsaw fun to break it down.

Oh, and some grocery shopping. You can probably guess which one of those is going to be easier than the other. XD

Yeah I don't have much planned for this weekend. I'm going to a little networking event tonight though.

Neo Emolga

Hopefully you have better luck with those events than I did. My university hosted a few of them and they weren't great. Only the speakers got to talk and there was very liitle time for us to introduce ourselves.

Oh yeah no this is meant to be a thing where you actually network with people. I've been to one before. I just don't enjoy them because I'm naturally shy.

I've never been to one myself. Nothing planned this weekend either. Kinda just a time to sit back and possibly do nothing xD....which is boring...need something....

Neo Emolga

Yeah, sometimes it's tough to think of a subject matter that you can connect to other people with.

I find discussions about pets is a good one. Those kinds of chats can be fun and stand out in a sea of the same old "so what do you like about your job" discussions. Every time I've tried asking that question, people reply "I like working with the people" and that's pretty much it. :P

Chatting about weather is also a good choice, especially on a crazy kind of weather day. Same with vacation plans. I would say it makes sense to ask a few questions about their job, but finish with something more fun that they'll remember you for. See it as a challenge to get them to smile and laugh.

Neo Emolga
05-05-2021, 09:02 PM
In the meantime, everyone keeps telling me to get the new Pokemon Snap game. Been thinking about it and it may be a while before any new Pokemon games come out. It seems like a fun, casual game and lately I've been feeling in the mood for that. Lately I've only been playing Cyberpunk 2077 and even though I beat it (but got a really crappy ending), I've been doing all the side missions to get into all the content I missed. And man, I missed quite a bit.

Chakramaster

I wish I could be playing that, but never ending computer issues.

Neo Emolga
05-06-2021, 12:59 AM
Yeah, I haven't played much of Fallout 76 either. My thing with that is... I don't know why they picked West Virginia as the location. There's really not much in the ways of landmarks, so it's not like the way Fallout 3 was with the capital wasteland and New Vegas that had the Las Vegas strip as its feature.

As far as Rivals of Aether, yeah, I need to get a controller for that. Trying to play that on a keyboard is pretty much a game of Twister for your fingers.

Noblejanobii
05-06-2021, 02:40 PM
I've enjoyed Pokemon Snap a ton. That and Spiritfarer have been the two games I've been playing recently. Really looking forward to when the localization of DGS 1 & 2 comes out in July tho. I watched a playthrough all the way up to case 3 of DGS2 (since that's all that's been fan translated) and I NEED to see the ending.

Neo Emolga
05-07-2021, 12:56 PM
Yeah, maybe I'll pick up Snap next time I'm at Target doing a grocery run. It looks like a fun casual game and it keeps my indestructible Pokémon addiction well-fed. Plus it doesn't seem like all too much is coming out in the ways of games for the summer, but maybe I'm overlooking something or forgot about an upcoming release.

inspiration can kick in at the wildest times yeah. Shower, driving, at work, or in the middle of meetings. xD

For me if it's not while I'm at work it's in the driving or in the shower. It's always at a point I can't really do anything about it.

Neo Emolga
05-09-2021, 05:21 PM
Same, a lot of inspiration and thought-processing goes on while I'm driving and listening to music. Of course, I can't even take notes in those circumstances.

Although sometimes there can be a thing that seems really good in my head, but then when I put it on paper, it kind of goes splat and doesn't make sense or has a lot of gaps that I overlooked while brainstorming. And those can kind of be a show-stopper.

Oh and while watching movies in the theatre is another big one. I've watched movies and heard some lines. Suddenly I get totallly distracted and thinking on something else and how that line and this relates to that and how I could improve upon that and build it to make something interesting....buuuut can't take out my phone and just start jotting notes down. XD

Neo Emolga

Speaking of movies, I kind of want to see Wrath of Man. I'm a sucker for explosive, crazy action movies and the trailer I saw for this looks like it will great action junkie food. XD

Chakramaster
05-11-2021, 12:38 AM
don't think I've seen a trailer for that yet. Will watch a trailer soon. I want to see that movie Nobody. Looks like it'll have some good comedic moments as well as some good action.

EDIT: Oh yeah Wrath of Man (a Jason Statham movie?) looks good. He's been in a good few movies recently.

Neo Emolga
05-11-2021, 02:35 AM
Yep, the Jason Statham one. I've seen a few movies with him and he's good. Great accent, too. XD

I remember watching Safe and it's like a non-stop guns-a-blazin' fiesta. I feel like I need a bit more of that.

Chakramaster
05-11-2021, 10:01 AM
If it's got him in it. There's typically a lot of hand to hand action or gun blazing battles with explosions. Some of his best were the Transporter movies I remember. Some of these recent movies just as good though.

Yeah since COVID the whole movie scene changed a bit..in an odd way.

Neo Emolga
05-11-2021, 01:53 PM
Yeah, I didn't see any new movies throughout all of 2020. I think the last movie I saw in the theater was Avengers Endgame.

Yeah, it's been a while. XD

Noblejanobii
05-11-2021, 03:03 PM
I've watched some new movies on Netflix and stuff but definitely not in a theater.

Neo Emolga
05-11-2021, 11:02 PM
For me, usually the cost wasn't worth it, but I know how bad people can be with spoilers. I felt like I HAD to see Endgame because I knew people would spill out too many implications that you'd have to be a dummy not to figure out. I had that happened with Infinity War before I got to see it for myself and it was... eh.

Surprisingly, I didn't see much spilled about Endgame, at least not until long after the movie had been out for a long time. People were definitely better about that.

But yeah, tickets to the movies are usually the reason why I just wait it out. And I don't even get snacks or drinks. Those are totally not worth it.

Chakramaster
05-12-2021, 12:51 AM
yeah I got lucky and didn't see or hear many spoilers before I got to watch Endgame. However, the day I planned to go see it the new (at the time) Spider-Man trailer dropped and Tom Holland dropped a HUGE "SPOILER WARNING" before the trailer saying. "If you haven't watched Endgame yet. Click out of the video and come back once you watch Endgame." So I was glad I didn't continue watching there.

Most movies I've wanted to see were put up on digital for purchase or rent. Like Bill and Ted Face the Music. Was waiting on that 3rd movie forever and it finally came out.

Neo Emolga
05-12-2021, 12:08 PM
Yeah, I just don't watch too many movies. It's to the point where I would be wasting money signing up for a streaming service when I maybe watch one movie every four months or so. Plus there are so many individual streaming services now, it's nuts.

I mean heck, in time, these movies can be borrowed from the library for FREE. It's essentially Redbox for those who are patient. XD

Awww, I love going to the movies!
It's like, a nice social outing where I can hang out with someone without having to carry the conversation or pay attention to them the whole entire time! I take my indoorsy and introverted friends out to the movies, because I guess it feels more special than just coming to my house to watch Netflix? It can be an excuse to dress up! Or at least to encourage a depressed friend to shower.

It's great for dates too coz you can like, figure out if their breathing is annoying or if they smell weird or if their sense of humor is good, if they know how to be quiet at the right time or if we can make in-jokes about something..
And if it all goes badly at least I saw a cool movie lol

I'm one of those people who sneaks in a block of chocolate or whatever, (one time I snuck in some cider and a whole burger meal hahaha) but I do loooove movie popcorn.

Neo Emolga
05-12-2021, 11:54 PM
I’ll confess I’ve done some snack-sneaking as well. I’ve never been caught, but I don’t think the movie theaters I go to really care too much. I think it would be too much trouble for them, and this was even in pre-COVID times. But yeah, I’m not paying $7 for a box of candy that would ordinarily cost me $1.

But if I needed to be more covert, I would just take the candy I bought for cheap and put it into an empty medication container and bring a bottle of water. Any movie theater wouldn’t dare try to tamper with that out of fears of litigation. >:3

The last few times, I haven’t had anything to eat or drink during a movie, though. Trust me, I learned my lesson with Aquaman. That is NOT a movie you want to try to endure with a full bladder. XD

Noblejanobii

In the summer, well... I was just hoping they wouldn't care or notice bulging cargo shorts pockets. XD

Geez I know things are more expensive up there....are they really $7? Here's they're only $3-4. Still pretty crazy.

Funny enough I don't usually have the issue of beeding frequent bathroom visits. XD so long movies are typically okay with me.

I used to sneak candy and such in, but drinks and all would be harder. Aaaaand here I can't wear bigger winter coats. I would die from overheating xD.

Yeah, it's pretty nuts when it comes to prices up here. A popcorn + soda combo will generally nail you for around $12-$14 up here. It's lousy, you could get a full-fledged dinner for that price.

We used to smuggle in soda cans, which aren't too hard. I'll admit, that's much easier with a winter jacket on, though.

Ah I meant the candy alone xD. Popcorn and soda combo here is usually $12-15 as well. Candy is as I said just $3-5. So nothing too crazy.

Can soda I thought would've got you caught more easy since they don't sell those in theatres.

Well, that's only if they see the can soda. But otherwise a 12oz can is small enough to not be spotted and satisfy your thirst. May not be as big as the drinks they have, but it'll be much, much cheaper.

Chakramaster

Yeah I still remember sneaking stuff in xD. It's a money saver for sure. Never did go for fan sodas. I just straight up went with the bottled soda.

Neo Emolga
05-17-2021, 11:10 PM
Yeah, I bet I could pull off a bottled soda with a jacket on. But with only cargo shorts... nah, that's going to be sticking out and would rely on them not caring because they'd definitely see that sticking out. I usually go with cans as they can fully fit into a pocket.

I couldn't sneak in popcorn, though. Too fluffy and takes up too much space.

Chakramaster
05-18-2021, 01:00 PM
Not unless you wanna go in looking like the little kid from A Christmas Story all suited up in his puffy jacket in the snow xD. Yeah cargo shorts in summer makes it hard. Least it's enough room to fit more things. Women have their purses. Unless they started checking those daily (which they won't unless there's something at the time life threatening causing them to do searches). Women could easily sneak in a lot of things depending on purse size.

See another reason I'd love the north though. All the cool looking jackets I can't wear here cause it never gets cold enough......and snow. XD

Neo Emolga
05-18-2021, 10:40 PM
Yeah, that's the thing, I don't think they can frisk you trying to look for food and stuff. I think you'd have to be carrying it openly for them to stop you at the line.

Truthfully, I haven't seen any signs of "no outside food or drinks permitted" at the theaters I go to. I never see them searching anyone for stuff, either. In my opinion, it's probably not worth the trouble for them. And it's not like we're stealing anything.

The New York Renaissance Faire is a different story, though. They don't want people bringing it outside food and drinks, but to be honest, the food at the Renaissance Faire... kinda sucks. Beer is fine, ice cream is good (not the root beer float, that's like 90% ice), but the food is eh and it's definitely not worth the price. Usually when I go I just grab a pretzel and that's lunch. $4 still feels like a lot for a pretzel but it's better than spending $12 for something just haphazardly thrown together.

Sneaking something in seems like a good idea for that, though. We did that once (hid a backpack under a cape) and never got caught either. Saved quite a few bucks pulling that off. XD

Chakramaster
05-19-2021, 01:08 AM
Yeah. So long as it's concealed enough or you don't just openly carry something in I'm sure they're cool with it.

Same I haven't seen anything like that. I haven't been to a theatre in a little over a year now though. So I can't say for sure. Only place I like the popcorn from is one particular theatre here. Mainly cause of the way they handle that. Seems the best. Though I only get a small or medium. Depends. I've still got gift cards xD.

Never been to one of those and I don't think I have anyone here that would want to go xD. They seem like they'd be fun, but I still feel like I'd be a little out of place personally. Not sure. Oh and yeah some pretzel prices are ridiculous. The one at our mall here can range from $3-7. Some things like those floats are really weird. Like at Universal Studios in Florida at the Harry Potter section. You can get Butterbeer. It's basically root beer float with a lot of ice that'll melt fast. Want more ice? Get the frozen one. It's weird and overpriced imo.

Smart idea xD. I remember when I was young that's just what our mom did. Hid stuff in her purse. Theme parks and stuff where she couldn't. Our parents just kept a cooler in the car and we cane out to the car to eat.

Neo Emolga
05-20-2021, 10:23 AM
Yeah, I haven't seen the whole Harry Potter thing at Universal, yet, but I'd be curious to check it out. But yeah, Renaissance Faire can be fun, and dressing up makes you feel like you're more into it, though be prepared to role play (I'll admit this caught me off guard at first, but now I know XD). Some of the actors and staff may talk and prompt you into it, and it definitely leads up to some silly and memorable moments. XD

I go as a faerie and get called a "bug" and a "butterfly" a lot. Good times. XD

I think it'd be fun to go to a Renaissance Faire one of these days but I have no idea if there's any in DC

Neo Emolga
05-20-2021, 08:37 PM
They're good fun. Lots of silly Robin Hood shenanigans, live music, jousting, silly acting, stunts like fire whips and knife throwing, and swordsplay stuff if that's what you're looking for. There's also quite a few shops that sell handmade stuff and it's pretty darn impressive, but it can be pricey. My recommendation is if you buy something, maybe wait until the end of the day so you don't have to carry it with you the whole time. Or see if you can bring it back to your car (for me, the parking lot is a pretty long walk to the actual faire itself). But yeah, every faire is different, but judging from what I've seen from the websites of others, it seems to be fairly similar.

New Jersey has a small one, but the one I go to is the New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo, NY (which believe it or not, is actually closer to me than the NJ one). For me it's about 50 minutes, which isn't too bad, though leaving early is essential. I have left late and the traffic buildup is BRUTAL.

I checked for a Renaissance Faire near DC, but the closest one I could find was in Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia, which is more than two hours away. And it looks nice but I don't know if I'd drive the two hours for it (though you could book a hotel room for the night in a nearby spot). But yeah, it's an experience and fun if you want to get some fresh air and enjoy some outdoor entertainment and music.

Noblejanobii
05-20-2021, 09:49 PM
Given I don't have a car I'd probably have to look into a train or perhaps flying if I really wanted to do that, which would be out of my budget regardless at the moment. Still something to keep in mind for the future since I love medieval swordplay.

Neo Emolga
05-21-2021, 12:52 AM
OMG, I would totally be game for that, but I know for me it would be pretty easy. For some other people, it would mean having to get on a plane and work out accommodations and expenses. But for those that are willing, hey, I'm game anytime.

But yeah, the last few times I've only gone by myself. Not quite as fun, but it does give me the freedom to see and do exactly what I want and when I want without having to discuss it and decide with other people, but still... it's more fun with friends along.

Definitely looking forward to going this year. I usually go like twice a year (it's impossible to see every show in one day as multiple shows go on at different stages at different times of the day). Also, you see some pretty impressive costumes that other people have. For me, the faerie costume works so dang well because I can go light on the clothing, people LOVE it (I get pulled into so many group pictures!), and the inflatable butterfly wings have a fan to power them, which helps keep me cool in the summer heat. Plus it allows me to be mischievous and silly. Total win. XD

One "joke" I've wanted to play is bring some glitter along, and use it on some people and say "here's some magic faerie dust! It will give you the power to fly! Unless I've been drinking too much. If I've been drinking too much, it's not going to do anything at all." XD

Chakramaster

Thing is I'm terrible in heat. don't they have it in winter too? xD.

No telling what will happen in the future. I'd still like to find a place to get a job and move north. Where up north? No clue. At least it'll be colder, less humid (than here at least), and have a potential for snow where it's like a mythical creature down here.

Heh, true. It's always more fun when you're with a friend or something. Alone is never fun. Heck I'd say still do it anyway if it's what you want and they don't. I'm sure it'll be fun regardless. They might even join in seeing you have fun.

Sounds like fun though. Getting attention for your own costume and being pulled into groups and such. I'm sure the costumes are like going to an anime or comic convention. A lot of fun and creative things to see everywhere you go.

Totally! I mean you used to sprinkle Pika Flu powder on everyone around here. Why not Emolga Flu powder faerie dust? They didn't and you didn't lose their marbles. Not at all!

Neo Emolga
05-22-2021, 12:53 AM
Yeah, unfortunately, they don't have it in winter. Best they can do is they have a Halloween thing once Renaissance Faire concludes for the season, but I've gone to it and it's okay, but it's pretty small and it's really just like one walk through a haunted house thing and then a stunt show and that's pretty much it.

My brother might come up with me for a visit up there. I need to convince him to get into costume, too. But yeah, it's kind of like an anime/comic con, just fantasy/medieval stuff. It's easy to be silly, too. XD

I missed a topic! I love Renaissance fairs!
I had the time of my life a few years ago when I went to a weekend long camping event and there was a war and dancing and a tavern and campfire bardic times, merchants, workshops, swimming in the river and having big theatrical courts with the king and queen and stuff!
I know there are huge wars in the US, called like, Pennsic or something? But I guess it's more historical reenactment rather than like fantasy with fairies n stuff? I'm not totally sure.

Ah, it's getting colder here and I'm so happy to sleep long hours in my big fluffy pjamas wheeee~
Summer sucks, my condolences.

Yeah there's tons of reenactments here in the states. Mostly I see them based on the Civil War. I actually remember seeing on start when I was young, but we were leaving at the time it started. I just remember a lot of gunshots, smoke, and the like. Parents trying to tell me it wasn't real and it was for show. I was old enough to understand back then. Those are more historical like you said and not fantasy.

Enjoy he cold while it lasts! Always seems to go by so fast. Especially where I live where it hardly gets cold even in winter.

For the Renaissance Faire in New York, it's a blend of the more authentic Renaissance stuff on one side, but there's also the fantasy side of things where you're more than welcome to do some Live Action Role Play (encouraged, even). There's a whole faerie forest with an activity thing for kids in there. But yeah, in addition to all the other stuff I mentioned, they have theme weeks, costume contests (I won one year!), special events, and lots of other fun things. So glad they're bringing it back this year.

Also, I miss the cold. I can't wear my Pokemon kigurumis (onesie pajamas) if it's hot out and we've hit that point where I can't wear them for longer than an hour without sweating (and I had JUST gotten three new ones, too). Now we've got bugs, allergies, heat, sweat, sunburns, lawnmower noise, and all that fun jazz to contend with. Hey, November, anytime you're ready...

Oh gosh, civil war reenactments sound scary! I can't imagine it easily... I dont think I'd like them tho. Explosions irl are not my jam!

Fantasy ren is so fun! I would definitely go to that. Fairy forest!! Did you win a contest for being a fairy, or for something else?
Theres a midwinter apple cider festival coming up near my town, and people dress like spooky bog monsters and fae, wear skulls and horns and tangles of vines- they have a costume contest there, and a storytelling one! And fortune telling, bands, big burning of apple themed things, and crowd chanting to apple trees n stuff. I've never entered either, but I always love to dress up and drink around the bonfires listening to spooky tales.
Just imagining if it was cold again~ what costume would you dress up in for a vaguely pagan midwinter bonfire?

Chakramaster

Luckily they weren't using explosives xD. But yeah here in the south (south United States) a lot of war re-enactments are pretty popular.

Yeah I remember as a kid it actually used to get cold here. I'm talking I remember days were we were in the single digits and would snow at least once a year. Now we don't even his the teens and we're lucky if we even get a few flakes once in a few years. I hate it down here for that reason. Far too hot for my comfort...and winter is like nonexistent.

Yep, I won the contest as a faerie! It was great fun. I tried it again the following year (the year before COVID), but I'm quite sure they recognized me and I didn't even get in as a runner up. But I have a feeling I know why and they just wanted to be fair to everyone else there. I think I'm going to opt out of the contest, but I'll still don my usual faerie costume for the fun and not to try and win again. I just need to make sure it still works and the fan and battery pack still function right. And yeah, the New York Renaissance Faire has fortune-tellers, too, although that's one thing I've never tried. The thought of trying it does tingle my curiosity.

The faerie costume works great when it's hot out, but if it gets colder, I have a Final Fantasy white mage cosplay that works better if it's nippy out (the last weekend of the faire can be a little chilly when it goes into October), although that gets people telling me "they need healing!" As a fun joke, I could ask them where it hurts, and when they show me, slap a Band-Aid on it. XD

You can buy them on Etsy (other sites like Amazon might have a few, but they're generally "cheap" feeling and tend to fall apart quickly). There are some REALLY good ones on Etsy, especially if you like Eeveelutions. And if there's a particular Pokemon you want but it doesn't turn up in a search, there's a few people that can custom make it, so just show them a few pictures and they might be able to do it. As for me, yeah, I have no idea how they make these. I just buy them, putting my stimulus money to good use.

I mean it could work. I think it could be done if whoever custom makes it knows what they're doing and it gets weighted right and doesn't make it top-heavy. There's been kigus that had really long/big ears and such and they've pulled it off. I mean heck, my Ninetales one has a pretty sizable mane and it still works.

Maybe I should start a whole thread for kigus, because I have so many great ones with crazy pictures to share. The thread that Suicune's Fire started is pretty old, but that's the thing that got me trying them and loving them. I started with a basic, cheap flying squirrel one which I thought was great, but then I discovered others that were far, far better.

Thoughts of getting one for Zoroark, Lopunny, and Whimsicott have crossed my mind, but... I've got ten kigus as is, that's already out of control. But really, on a cold winter night, they're perfect and they're just irresistibly cozy. Man, I don't even have winter pajamas anymore. These have totally replaced those.

Yeah, I had three that were cheap and are in the attic donation bin. First was the flying squirrel one, which isn't bad, but it's a bit shabby and didn't quite fit me as well. Then I had an Umbreon one, but that was not a great fit either and it was falling apart (the yellow rings are coming off). Then there was a flimsy Emolga knock-off one that didn't fit well either and left half of my lower legs uncovered. That's when I started getting them custom-made through Etsy to match my size and height and wow, there's a world of difference when you get a nice kigu that fits you well.

But yeah, like you said, I can't keep them in a drawer, either. They take up quite a bit of space.

Well not really "just" to wear one more xD. I want a colder environment. I'm dying in this constant heat with a near nonexistent Winter. It hardly ever gots into the 40s anymore here for a high in winter. I'd give anything for 30s or below during the day and actual real snow (not this fake southern snow we get once in an extremely rare year.

Guess it depends on if you want half and half, like cold snowy winters and warm summers, or if you'd rather just go full-on cold almost all the time. Because right around now, ugh, it's hot here and I'd sweat-soak myself wearing a kigurumi in this kind of heat.

I mean I'm not looking for cold and snow 24/7. Some warmer days are nice....but here where I'm at where spring and summer are both nearly year round. Reaching 80s to the 100s and summer reaching near 100% humidity daily. Where winter is near nonexistent. The coldest we've had in years was this yeah. One night only we hit maybe 19? Others it was mostly lower 30s. Only reached freezing maybe 3-4 times. Only remember that cause I had to turn the sinks on before I went to sleep a few times.

Eh, better safe than sorry. I just wish the airline didn't try to cheat me out of $300. Still never saw that money back. Getting the same rehashed answer (that should really be a no brainer) got me nowhere. Better to wait this time too before okaying that xD....lest I get my hopes up. I couldn't wear the Pikachu kigu the entire time now xD. It'd get pretty dirty I'm sure. Heheh, picture or video? Don't get me wrong a little warmth isn't bad, but dealing with nothing but hot weather all the time....I hate it. Weekly grass cutting, yard work, and just constant headaches. The heat just bothers my scar areas too and makes it harder to breathe. I feel like I can actually breathe again when it's cold xD.

Yeah so far I've felt like I've been very low on energy. Maybe it's cause I'm trying to do away with soda, but it's very slow going. Yard work is a paaaaaaain. Yeah, generally, if I need to do yard work, I wait until later in the afternoon when it's a little cooler out. Midday is just... deathly. That is another nice thing about winter. Everything's buried under snow and nothing grows, so no yard work there.

See? Lucky! Snow is good!

We don't have to worry about snow here. Heck honestly even leaves really. We used to, but now not anymore. Spring/summer yard work is almost daily or weekly. I prefer after work when the sun begins to set or early in the morning on a day off. Before the sun fully comes up. It's just cooler and much better overall. Not working in the dead heat of the day making myself more miserable.

Typically winter the yards here don't grow either. If it does it might just be enough for one cut that season. But god what I'd give for a really good snowstorm xD

A nice, quiet, snowy winter can be really comforting if you don't have anywhere to be and can just relax at home. Warm up with some nice hot cocoa and a fun and cozy Pokemon kigurumi as the snow softly gathers outside. That's just pure bliss.

Yeah it all depends. Some people up north hate snow and the cold. Lived with it all their life and are just tired of it. Like some people here down south. So tired of the rain and heat where some places don't see rain, but maybe a few days a year. The cost of living and jobs are so hard to get and come by. It makes reaching out for these dreams people may have to see something different really challenging.

To someone like me that wants a colder environment and to see more snow. Snow more than once in a blue moon and say 3-5 inches or more at a time. Sure it means to actually shovel snow, but I'd welcome that! It's a small price to pay to immerse myself in something incredible like that.

Yeah that's how I feel. I feel it makes it being able to enjoy nice warm cups of cocoa by a fire like the saying goes. Get to wear a nice winter jacket for once and things like that yeah! A nice and cozy Pokemon kigurumi! Hardly got a chance to wear mine cause it never got that cold. I'd start sweating

Yeah, it hit 90F here today. Ugh, it does feel like it's going to be a long summer and we probably won't shake away this heat until November, which is another six months away. I think I'd go nuts if this was all we ever had.

What fun is sanity anyway?

For me, trying to sleep when it's roasting out is the worst. I usually don't sleep well during summer, so it affects my overall ability to do things. That, and I usually end up feeling tired in the afternoon as well.

Yup. That's exactly me. Every day after work I just feel exhausted. Typically it's from the heat. Sleeping in hot weather is downright impossible without feeling sick or sticky. It's literally the worst.

With how hot it's been lately, I'm almost thinking of moving further up north, too. This heat has just been oppressive lately.

You at least get cooler weather as it is. This hot and muggy weather is typical here in GA for weather year round. It's why I'd love to have a good paying job somewhere up north I'd love to live. Some place with not much crime and danger of living etc. oh and of course lots of snow. XD

Me, I think I'd also like a place that's safe, fun, and not too expensive either. Too many places around the tri-state area are really, REALLY overpriced and it's gotten much worse lately.

But yeah, right now, I'm not sure where I'd want to move to. I'd like to be close to family, but it's hard to balance everything that I'd like right now. I'd have to give up something.

Chakramaster
06-08-2021, 11:09 PM
yeah that's the thing. Some place safe with a lot to do and isn't insanely expensive. A lot of places I feel are taking advantage of price gouging since COVID. Cause people continue to pay for it anyway and they're already hurting for money.

See that's the sad part for me. I only have a few friends up north. No family or anything there. So if I moved as far north as I want I wouldn't have anyone...

I was lucky in that I told my family I like the cold and hate the heat, and begun moving toward Antarctica as soon as I left home... then over time some of my family agreed they were over the heat and humidity and were also like "hey you know what let's move to where we are comfortable!"
So now I've got family in at least two cold places!
((Also some family in the warm states too... maybe it's just because we are so scattered that theres options like that))

I think I'm like Chakra in that snow is lovely and not a bore-- when I got stuck in Montana last year in March/April/May coz of covid I was delighted to watch snow falling and covering everything, even though the dogs and residents just looked outside with disinterest.
So seasonal! Finally, Easter made sense to me, because bunnies and plants actually were coming out of the ground!
In Aus Easter generally feels more like "hey you've survived the summer heres some chocolate that isnt deformed by the heat" xD

Lucky! All my family is here in the south US. Where everything is far too hot for my comfort. Having family where you know you can count on someone if you need help is nice.

Yeah I've always loved snow. It's been nearly 6 years since I've even seen a flake. It's so depressing and I hate it. :(

At least we had colder weather last year/this year. Typically it didn't even get below 50. If it did it wasn't by much. I'd just love to be able to even see a good snowstorm like that in person. Even if it was just once.

Yeah humidity kills me here. It just feels terrible. It's been a little over 80% here lately. Had to cut the grass yesterday and the air felt so heavy to me. I felt totally exhausted after the front yard, but I pushed myself to get the back done too. Probably shouldn't have cause I was wiped out after. It's why I'd love to be able to move somewhere north where I can enjoy a REAL winter after a terrible summer.

You've been to Louisiana right Neo? It's pretty bad there too like it is here. Especially if you were in the swampy areas.

Yeah, I was there for a little while for my brother's bachelor party. We went in April though, so it wasn't in the ground zero of summer. In April, it seems fine and I couldn't really complain too much about it, but yeah, I can't really say what it must be like in June, July, and August.

Bourbon Street is ridiculous, though. Every night, people are drinking and partying and there's all kinds of nonsense going on. EVERY. NIGHT. And there's just booze everywhere. I was surprised it didn't come out of the sink and shower. XD

Yeah it really depends on the year. Some years we literally have no winter air. So it just stays hot and humid. It's literally the worst. So it must've just been a good time is all. Which is good for a bachelor party or anything similar. The color air is more my jam for sure. Enjoy it!

I've had trouble sleeping lately. Temps in the mid 70s during the night

I definitely think if I had summer year-round, I would get dang tired of it. I think as a kid, I liked summer because hey, it's easy to associate it with school being out and thus it becomes reminiscent of days of fun and just enjoying time off, but now that I'm working all the time year round, it has lost its charm.

But yeah, if your job offers you a place to move to that has a snowy climate, sounds like something that might make you happier.

Well it's funny cause my boss had us meet with his boss recently (since his boss primarily works from home). He talked about some business stuff, then how their is plans to open some up in other parts of the country. Most being up north. My boss told me recently he's been thinking of moving to another. Even mentioning how he'd offer me a job up there if he moved. Though he was talking about NY. That'd be something I'd really have to think about. It's the most expensive city in the nation.

Yeah summers were nice when I was younger. Though I really don't remember it being THIS hot. Especially all year round like it has been. I remember when I was younger having to rake leaves and wear a jacket (like a real one in winter months especially). Now it's at least in the 80s and sometimes 90s until sometime in November. Then it's just chance from there. Mainly say that cause a few years ago I remember being depressed going to Christmas with the family in mid 80 degree weather. Shorts and short sleeves. It's literally driving me insane xD

Neo Emolga
06-13-2021, 04:32 PM
Well, you don't have to live directly in the city if you're willing to commute to save some money. But yeah, NYC is definitely very expensive and hate to say it, but crime, vandalism, homelessness, and other issues have been on the rise in NYC. Mayor de Blasio really did a terrible job with NYC and allowed so much to just plunge face-first into the gutter.

As for NJ, we've had some pretty hot summers even when I was a kid. I remember the temperature gauge going over 100F a few times, especially when we went to the pool. It was pretty brutal, but I don't think it has increased too much since times decades ago.

Chakramaster
06-13-2021, 09:25 PM
That's the issue. I don't like driving myself as it is. I hear all the time how up there is a good place to be like that cause you don't have to. Trains, subway systems, and buses exist wherever you need to go. While that's good. I know from what you've said and news has shown, it's just not the best anymore. Lot of crime too and just expenses are so much more. Just getting used to being alone would be....really tough too.

Neo Emolga
06-14-2021, 01:27 AM
Yeah, when I go to NYC, I almost always take the train. Parking is a nightmare and is extremely expensive, so I honestly wouldn't recommend driving into the city.

NYC used to be a lot better. It used to feel clean, safe, and welcoming. But now you see homeless people everywhere and it's just not safe. I've seen a lot of articles of people getting attacked and pushed onto subway tracks. That and drug abuse is on the rise, especially in Washington Park.

Really, the last thing the next mayor should consider doing is defunding the police. There are many good cops and people shouldn't let a few bad ones and terrible, false media narratives mislead them into thinking all cops are bad. The New York Times has become especially rotten for this.

Chakramaster
06-14-2021, 02:01 AM
Ohhhh trust me. After my experience riding into NYC years ago? I could never drive there myself. I'd go into a panic attack (yeah I'm not great at driving and I'm still very timid behind the wheel. Especially in new places I haven't driven before).

Yeah NYC used to have this great appeal especially in movies. Made me really have that feel of wanting to go. Then especially so when the Pokémon Center opened there. I got to go sometime after it shut down and Nintendo World opened instead. It wasn't as great. I did however enjoy the Top of the Rock and got to see all the Christmas decorations around the town. I loved it! Sadly yeah I've been hearing about all the subway incidents and crime. It's enough that if I were ever up there. I'd be wanting to stay off the streets around dusk.

Gonna try to keep it very non-political here, but yeah. Defunding the police becasue of what's been happening is the last thing that should happen. Law enforcement have been doing everything they can to help prevent this from getting worse. Sad to say though COVID helped to make everything worse too. It's driven everyone a little more insane and to depend on things like drugs or something more....illegal. Making everyone that much more crazy.

Another sad thong to say. I feel if I did move north a lot of people would target me cause I'm a bit more small, from the south (where a lot of people see "confederate" things or reference to that), which also references to racism. I'm not racist, but sometimes you get targeted just on who you are, where you're from, and the color of your skin....and that's sad. We're seeing that a lot with Asians lately being targeted. It's sad to see happen to anyone really.

Yeah, that’s a good point, usually I try to steer away from politics...

It’s sad you didn’t get to check out the NYC Pokémon Center. Nintendo World is nothing compared to it and all the times I went there, I came out empty-handed because 95% of the stuff that’s there is stuff you can buy just about anywhere anyway. Most of the floor is reserved just for gaming stations, which is dang disappointing. There were a lot of things I saw at the NYC Pokémon Center that I wish I bought, but I’m happy I did come home with quite a few things anyway and I still have them, too.

Really, they’d do much better to change it back. I still see kids are very much into Pokémon and you’ve still got plenty of us folks in the older generations still into it. If they changed it back, heck, I’d consider going back again. It’s Nintendo’s top franchise, why did they change it?

These days, I just get the stuff from the Pokémon Center website and from Mercari. Mercari is… ugh, man, it’s a hard struggle to avoid succumbing to temptation there. Still on the lookout for a great Jirachi plush that’s under $50. XD

Yeah I first remember seeing it advertised way back in Nintendo Power. I desperately wanted to go. My parents were totally against it no matter what though. They never wanted us going to NYC. My dad's things was always "I haven't been to New York and I haven't ever lost anything in New York, I don't want to go to New York." Sadly he was the only one that would even be able to take me if I were being a kid not mucc over 10 at the time.

I remember seeing the contest in Nintendo Power where the winner would be flown to New York to visit the Pokémon Center and get to see the Pokémon Movie 4Ever in a theater there early. Along with $1000 in money for shopping anywhere the winner wanted. I remember so desperately wanting to win that as it was my only hope of going since my parents didn't want to. Sad to say yeah I never made it. Not until 2011 when it was long gone. I remember seeing all these pictures of the Pokémon Center and hoped the Nintendo World was just as great.....sadly it wasn't. All that time and effort making it there and I went home empty handed aside from the memories.

Seriously they would. Imagine not only Pokémon Centers all over the US, but themed depending on location along with Pokémon Cafes themed to the location. It would give reason to travel and a variety of different merch in food, plushies, figures, apparel and so much more! It's like adding billions on top of the already billion dollar company.

Same here sadly. Sometimes I use PokeVault cause it's exclusive Japanese merch. I'm still on the lookout for a nice Jirachi plush for sure. That's not insanely priced....

Yeah, I remember seeing the details in Nintendo Power. That’s originally what sparked my interest and I seized the opportunity the next time we were in Rockefeller Center. I think I went three times and the first time, I didn’t come out with much simply because I didn’t have the money at the time. If my present self could wire transfer money to my past self… yeah, I would have come home loaded. But I did get lots of good stuff the following two times… and then it became Nintendo World and I usually came out of there with nothing and then just stopped bothering altogether.

I like what PokeVault has but dang those prices are tough to swallow. But if they have stuff I just gotta have, bang, I’ll do it.

And yeah, I’m happy I managed to get a hold of a Takara Tomy Talking Emolga plush because that was HARD to hunt down and wasn’t cheap. Although I’ll admit I haven’t actually loaded it up with batteries and turned it on to see it and hear it in action…

…until now. Heh heh, it’s hilarious! Sounds just like it does in those crazy anime episodes! XD Totally worth every penny. :3

I had a short period where I quit Pokémon and had gotten salty about it. It was around the time Pokemon Yellow came out and it made me unhinged how Pokémon was getting into everything to the point where I felt it was a nuisance and just wanted to go back to the times where Nintendo focused on a wider variety of games instead of dropping Pikachu on my face over and over. So far about a year, I wanted nothing to do with it and it made me irate every time I saw it. And then Gold/Silver came along and I was too enthralled with Ho-oh and Lugia on the box art and I was like "ok, ok, I'm back in, those two are really cool, I take back all the nasty things I said." Haven't left it since, so yeah, it was only just that one time for a short while.

Yeah, Toreba takes two months now from the time I send the request to ship to the time it arrives in the mail. I only just got that Christmas Pikachu a few days ago, which now sits on my printer because I have no where else to go with it. XD This is getting funny but crazy, I have a whole other giant bag of Pokemon plushies sitting in the attic, most of which I got from the Pokémon Center in NYC. Really though, if I win another plushie from Toreba, I have absolutely no clue where I'd put it. I might have to squish a few around.

And yeah, the Emolga is great! But I had to turn him off because he'd suddenly shout "EMOOOO!!!" completely out of the blue and it's a bit of a jump-scare like that. XD

Yeah, I've seen what they look like. For me, they don't hand-deliver the packages, they just leave them by the front door and that's pretty much it. And I'm fine with that, the stuff always arrives in perfect condition anyway. I imagine they switched to the bags because it was cheaper, although it may depend on the kinds of prizes you win. Certain prizes that are a bit more fragile, like those figures, may need a box with bubblewrap whereas plushies don't need that kind of protection since they're soft and squishy anyway.

I just need to figure out why I'm only getting one ticket a day, because I feel like it's on the brink of impossible to win anything with only just that. Makes me wonder if I buy a bit more TP using cash, would that mean extra play tickets on a daily basis. That might be worth it, but I'd only do it if I knew that's what's driving it.

I'm beginning to wonder if that is the reason. Because over the years I have spent a little more than the initial $10. I'm still well within the green though. Won more than I've spent. Can't say for certain that that is the reason though. Maybe it is worth it? At least another $10 to make sure they aren't making that yearly now.

Yeah is used to be safer, better, and much faster. So long as everything comes in tact I'm okay with it. Though my next package should be the Pikachu and Eevee figure. So hopefully it comes well packaged. Just got my Eevee and Piplup the other day.

I really just dunno what it is they are doing with the free tickets. It's weird. Hopefully it goes back to normal soon. If not, if you have the money it might be worth just another $10 to see if maybe that's why. If you plan to continue playing that is I guess.

But yeah, now I'm wondering how many tickets I'll get tomorrow. If it goes back to 1, maybe I'll try dropping $10 just to see what happens, but if that changes nothing, well... eh, that would suck, but at least we'd know that wasn't the reason.

Hopefully it stays giving you more than the 1 ticket. I wouldn't spend too much more past that if it doesn't go back. At least until we get a more definitive reason as to why it's not giving you the additional tickets. It would suck if not, but lets hope it continues giving you maximum free plays.

I got 6 today as opposed to the 5. So yeah it makes no sense right now unless it really is dependent on how long you've played or something.

Used them to nearly get that Pachirisu in the plastic box. Used the claw to grab both boxes in an attempt to push the other into the one holding Pachirisu and knock it over. Sadly I had to leave it setup for the next person.....so I say, but I watched 2 people play and try and not even budge it.

Yeah, I felt like I came close to getting a Pachirisu box as well. Could be wrong, but after trying to go for one of those, I never did see another one that looked close to being won.

Yeah some have been better than others. I've had more luck with the "luck" based ones lately. Like the ping pong and such cranes lately myself.

Crazy. Even more Slowpoke stuff today, to the point where I think there's more Slowpoke stuff than Pikachu stuff. I don't get it, I don't recall Slowpoke being really anyone's favorite Pokemon. :P Hey, Toreba, Emolga fan here with many others just like me. Care to do us a solid and, you know, have an Emolga prize for once?

Tried to go for that big Torchic again, but ugh, the two tickets I spent on it got nowhere. It just wiggled a bit and pretty much went right back to where it started from. Then on my third and final ticket, I just took a wild swing at one of those big Pichus, but nothing much happened with that either. Although yeah, I have plenty of Pichu plushies already, but hey, nothing wrong with adding another if it's at no cost to me!

Seriously. It's literally the only electric rodent that hadn't been in one of the machines. Do they seriously lack that many Emolga items? I mean Emolga was even in one of the latest episodes again.

Spoil tagged just in case someone isn't wanting anime spoilers. Even if it's just a super small clip. Electric rodents are just the best. XD

I mean I saw that on my YouTube feed pop up and thought it was just adorable xD. How can anyone not like it? Don't understand why they don't promote it more.

Exactly! Hey at least it was a chance. Free stuff never hurts really. I forgot what I tried for last night. Think it was one of the Halloween Pokémon. No luck though.

Seven seconds of bliss right there. XD

And... I'm back to only getting one ticket a day again. Phooey. Tried for one of those big Pichus again but as expected, splat. It's just... eh.

For sure! Electric rodents are just the best xD.

Yeah I only got 3 tickets yesterday. Wasn't much, but all 3 times the ping pong ball rolled right over the ring it needed to fall into to win the Minccino. Eh, maybe next time.

Yeah, those ping pong machines are great whenever it looks like everything else is too hard. But yeah, winning from that is tough, but at least it doesn't involve having to work at a prize that's impossible to win from its starting position.

Too bad that it's mostly becoming pay to play now. Was nice to get free stuff while it lasted the last few years. Well...mostly free.

Yeah, the new rule that a prize needs to be won with TP to be eligible for free shipping is absolutely brutal. It means if you want free shipping, you can only use your free play tickets to get things started (can't use them for a ping pong or any other chance-based one-play win machine) and then finish the job with TP, which you'd have to either buy or earn (and earning TP can take quite a few hours of playing some other mobile game).

I still have 41K of TP I'm saving to be used for something I may really want and feel it's close to winning, but once that goes, I might close the book on Toreba. One ticket a day and having to pay what I imagine will be crazy shipping costs even if I do win by some kind of semi miracle just doesn’t do the time spent looking for a good setup any justice.

I already checked. It's around $20 for anything you get shipped that weighs up to 1000kg. Anything past that and it goes up in price.

Sadly I may end up doing the same. Unless they revise it (which I doubt) I might end up stopping playing Toreba. The free tickets daily were nice with free shipping once a week. I think they've been losing money more than gaining is all. Used to it was always in boxes, then it moved to poly bags, now this.

If only they'd let iPhone users earn free TP playing other games. Some reason we don't have that option. We've only got the option of earning TP through using those weird websites or purchasing something ridiculous from those websites.

Geez, $20? Really, now it's like "winning" the prize only means you get the right to "buy" it. If free shipping once week is too much, couldn't they at least shorten it to maybe free shipping only once a month?

As far as earning TP goes, you may get around spending money, but what you lose instead is time. I'm not much of a mobile gamer and most of these games are pretty cheesy, but a lot of these games that they want you to get hooked into start off easy and fast, but then slow down tremendously as time goes on. And many of them end up with you hitting a wall where it takes forever to progress... unless you start buying things with real money.
