It’s the Season 30 celebration! The game that’s a chat that you need to remember or other people win! Like me. ;D
Rules are simple, just be the last poster and if 48 hours pass with no one else posting, you win! Basic PXR rules still apply!

I remember most threads like this ending after months of even years lmao
Neo Emolga

Yeah, we had a few really crazy long ones in the past. Others had hundreds of pages to them, too.
Chakramaster
07-08-2021, 01:25 AM
Yeah one of the recent ones lasted what...a year and a half? Pretty wild.
Neo Emolga
07-08-2021, 02:03 AM
Yep, v23 was the really long one! That was just crazy, lots of persistence and perseverance in that one. xD
Voltaire Magneton
07-08-2021, 02:41 AM
Well, let's sse how long this one takes!

07-08-2021, 10:44 AM
Let's make it last longer than any of the others!
Voltaire Magneton
07-08-2021, 01:45 PM
Sure thing! Very agreeable!
Neo Emolga
07-08-2021, 10:58 PM
That was about a year and a half long, though! xD
In the meantime, not sure about where you guys are, but this July has been pretty dang rainy and stormy. We had like maybe only two sunny days (hot and humid days) but the rest have been wet and rainy.
Voltaire Magneton
07-08-2021, 11:23 PM
Same here! The weather is lowkey unpredictable (or maybe because I don't watch weather news lol)
Neo Emolga
07-09-2021, 12:28 AM
I only get the weather updates from my phone, but quite often they're pretty wrong. xD
My work laptop shows the next two days of weather on Outlook, but that's even less accurate.
Voltaire Magneton
07-09-2021, 01:52 AM
I don't use the weather feature on my phone because for some reason it shows weather for a different city smh

I just got hit by that tropical storm overnight last night. Apparently it was a lot of heavy rain here and a little win, but nothing bad. Rain and thunder later in the day though. Here no, it's been mostly hot, more hot, and hotter. Don't forget humid. Ugh, it's been the worst. Hard time breathing lately through it all.
Hahaha, yeah I've still been getting weather updates from when I did something to keep me updated for NJ. I get weather alerts for Theresa well as ones for here.
Neo Emolga
07-09-2021, 02:36 AM
My location for handling the weather is right most of the time, but it needs to be refreshed every time I look at it and it generally doesn't update automatically. It's pretty easy to forget that and that can make a difference when it comes to what towns are getting rained on and which ones aren't.
When it comes to snow and telling us how many inches we're bound to get, boy, does it get it wrong like almost every time. They might as well roll dice and go off of that number as a guess and hope they get lucky.
Voltaire Magneton
07-09-2021, 06:20 AM
Yeah that's why I prefer looking outside instead lol
There's a certain shade/brightness of sunlight that signals rain later. I can't describe it, but if the outside looks a certain hue or something I could tell it's going to rain.
Neo Emolga
07-09-2021, 11:05 PM
Usually if the wind starts picking up all of a sudden, it means it's going to storm.
And man, it can change very quickly. One minute, it can be sunny with blue skies, and then whoosh, it's like doom and gloom up above and rain and thunder hammering everywhere.
Chakramaster
07-10-2021, 04:25 PM
Yeah that happened here recently. I was in my room, it was totally sunny out. 5 mins later I'm hearing loud noise like banging thinking it was the neighbors. Nope. It was totally dark out and thundering with some pretty bad lightning. Rain started moments later.
Speaking of snow I had a dream the other night I actually got to experience it like I wanted and enjoyed every minute of that xD.
I think the craziest weather alert I've got is "lightning strike within 0 miles of your location" and I didn't hear any thunder or anything.
Neo Emolga
07-10-2021, 05:01 PM
Well today, I think they may be right. They're predicting rain and thunderstorms (again) and looking at the sky outside, I'd say that's pretty likely.
Getting caught in the rain isn't fun, especially if you're a fair distance away from home but away from a car, like bike riding or going for a walk.
Chakramaster
07-11-2021, 05:26 PM
sometimes it's easier to tell than others yeah. Wind is a good determining factor to be able to tell what may be coming.
I require 30 hours of sleep to function lately.
Also this rain has been amazing, i love it. I honestly like being in the rain, Neo...though, I just like water in general.

Just don't expect to do much driving when it's snowing either. We've had a number of car accidents due to winter-related weather...

You/your family personally or just everyone in general up there? Yeah I've seen the videos. I wouldn't expect to when it gets bad. I'd either already be where I wanted or be prepared to travel on foot a bit. Or heck, just flat out sit outside and relax to the sounds and sight and overall feel. To me it's just so nice, peaceful, and is just an overall beautiful sight to see.

Yeah, I'm taking a mix of Amoxicillin-Clavulanate and Mucinex twice a day to pulverize it. It's slow but it's working at least and I'm definitely better than how I was on Wednesday. Only problem with it is the diarrhea (yay for goop poop!), and I still have a few days to go with it.

I may have gotten it from my dad. Not sure where else it might have come from, although we've been to a few restaurants and people haven't been wearing masks anymore. Around here in NJ, it's half and half, about half the people wear masks inside while the other half don't. I'm not bothered either way, I can totally get why people are just tired of wearing the darn things by now.
Chakramaster

It's always hard to tell where you might have gotten something from. Especially with COVID restrictions in some places still. People still don't get out as much as we used to.
Here in GA a looooooot of people still don't wear masks. With no real restrictions you can't tell. Sure the rule is if you've been vaccinated you don't have to wear it now. Thing is even those not vaccinated aren't wearing. So you can never tell for sure.

Since I'm also still dealing with allergies on top of the cold (at least I assume given I was being beaten to **** by my allergies before I caught my cold), my current drug concoction looks like: Amoxicillin, CVS brand decongestant, cetirizine, montelukast, Azelastine Nasal Spray, NyQuil, DayQuil, and the occasional Mucinex. I'm also taking an assortment of vitamins including Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, and a Fish Oil Multivitamin. AND because I got bit by a spider like a month ago, I still have to put this prescription cream on my leg where the hole is because all the skin just sorta died there from the venom.
So ya know

My co-worker is convinced I have the delta variant and I'm like hun, I never leave the house, no.

Bit by a spider? Not one of the big poisonous ones right? I've seen so many around my place I've got a little worried about them from time to time. Hopefully you heal from that soon. Get well from your cold and sinuses soon too. Never fun dealing with those.

Oof, that's a lot of pills to take. Yeah, I take a men's multi-vitamin and B and C supplements every morning.
And ouch, that must have been one really nasty spider bite. I'm guessing it was a brown recluse or a black widow?

Not sure what kind of spider it was! I even went to the doctor about it and she was stumped. We're not even 100% certain it was a spider that bit me, just that something did. We just assumed it was a spider bite given the massive amount of damage left behind. It's almost all healed up thankfully, going on a month now with it, so hopefully it'll be completely gone by the end of next month!
And yeah I'm hoping I get over this cold too. I'm supposed to attend a gala on Saturday and I'd rather not be coughing the whole time if I can help it.

Weather hasn't been helping either. Not bad the rise in COVID cases across the country. Some people are even talking about another shutdown if it keeps up. I don't think many could take another shutdown though.
Noblejanobii
07-21-2021, 01:50 PM
I doubt we'll have another shutdown, but the possibility is there.
I'm also so over this cold. If this isn't gone by Thursday, I'm doing the good old ER trick of gatorade plus a five hour energy.
Chakramaster
07-21-2021, 06:41 PM
Don't go doing more harm than good. I think I had to cut off the 5 hour energy. It was probably one thing causing my heart to have those issues way back. Would have one nearly every week (Friday) while I did an open to close shift.
Have you tried the Medicine Ball from Starbucks yet? If not, I recommend it.
Noblejanobii
07-21-2021, 08:50 PM
I've never had 5 hour energy before so I don't see myself having any issues with it but thanks for the heads up.
And no I haven't! I never go to Starbucks because I don't like coffee so I only know like one drink on their menu haha. I'll look into this though.
Neo Emolga
07-22-2021, 02:10 AM
I had 5 hour energy once. Never again, my heart was racing when I was just sitting and doing nothing and I felt like I was going to have a heart attack.
I used to have Monster Energy Zero Ultra drinks, which had a bit of pep to them, but nothing too drastic, just enough to keep me going. Still, during COVID lockdown, I decided to get off of those as I know they're not that healthy and they're expensive as well. It's about $2 per can and that adds up...
Chakramaster
07-22-2021, 07:11 AM
I need to find something better myself to drink at night. I've cut off the Mountain Dew which I'm glad about, but still drink a Monster energy drink on some days. I really need to find a replacement for that xD.

Neo Emolga
07-26-2021, 01:27 AM
Yep, the rubber gloves I have a pretty good, but those things are SHARP AS HECK and they're MUCH nastier than your typical rosebush. And yeah, they'll stab right through the gloves. Makes me feel like I should be wearing plate mail to go gardening. xD
Chakramaster
07-26-2021, 10:40 AM
Man I couldn't even imagine using rubber gloves myself. That seems like even the smaller stuff could poke right in. Mine are some of the more work gloves, but it's a bit thinner. Still sticks right through. Have grabbed some of those shrubs and vines here to have that reflex and just drop them. Pull off the glove and yeah it leaves a good puncture. .

I just started playing Unite last night! Hoping to play it more once Art Fight is over. Thinking the Speedster is the role I'm gonna excel at so watch out I might be one of those pesky Gengars you'll be facing off against in the future, haha. Right now my main is Talonflame though.
Ive started playing like..a week ago? I think. I'm not sure, time isn't really my friend lately, i keep losing track of it.
Whenever I play League, I always stuck to Top or Jungle, so Speedsters were the ones I clung to first. They are really fun. Though, Machamp has gotten my love lately. I've been selling these hands at a discount, buy one get one free. Suplexing everyone I see.
watch out I might be one of those pesky Gengars you'll be facing off against in the future.
Gengar is the only 'Mon that terrifies me in this game. He is one of my favorite Pokemon, but dear lord he is busted. Best 'Mon in the game until they nerf the little nightmare.

Back in my LoL days I was more of a fan of characters like Annie and Xerath. Ranged magic burst characters. Guess it's why Pikachu and Cinderace come so easily to me xD.
Back then I never did play with a Jungler role. Now though in Pokémon. I find it fun! So long as others don't go taking my jungle minions. Takes away from my exp I need to help gank.
Yeah...Pikachu, Cinderace, Lucario, and Crustle all ones I play. Just tried out Gengar last night. Gonna be a few times before I learn to play it.

My main in my LoL days was like.... Tristana I think her name was? Granted my LoL days only lasted like... two days I think. I only ever fought against bots because I wasn't very good and people were SUPER toxic even though we weren't even in ranked battles! It was nuts.
SMITE was always more my speed. My mains for 5 v 5 were usually Skadi, Artemis, and Cernunnos, but I also learned how to play Nike and Nu Wa for the 3 v 3 jousts specifically.
Chakramaster
07-29-2021, 09:21 PM
I ended up playing LoL for maybe....2 years? I never really truly played ranked. A few times, but never once alone. Always with a full team of my brother's friends. I knew LoL had a very toxic community, but I wanted no part of them. So I either ignored them or just report them.
I played Smite a few times, but it was never super big on me. I remember one of the computer company's gave me a code for the God Pass. Even though that computer didn't work. I returned it and was able to keep the God Pass cause well....the code was already used xD.
Gengar all you need is Sludge Bomb/Hex and you win. And like, Wise Glasses and Muscle Band, but still, SludgeHex is busted.
Ive played League for years, though never consistently. I always went Darius/Jax/Zed. I never really played SMITE, wanted to try it but was too lazy. I played DOTA for quite a bit, but not much.
And yes, League is extremely toxic, moreso than any game I play...except for maybe Rocket League, but I still think League has it beat in toxicity.

07-31-2021, 10:55 PM
I only played League for a very short time. It didn't seem too bad at first, but it does feel like one of those games that have an extreme learning curve. I feel like maybe I could have gotten into it after a while, but the reputation surrounding its very toxic community caused me to clear out before I had to deal with that.
Chakramaster
08-01-2021, 11:48 PM
Yeah at first it's fun! But I soon had to rely on friends to keep it fun. Then ARAM (All Random All Mid). Just to have a more fun. Couldn't deal with normal all alone. Wasn't fun to me. Last thing that kept me in for a short while was the mystery gifts you could buy. Potential for $50 skins (which I got off the mystery gifts for $5). But I ended up giving up. No one wanted to play with me at a certain point so I quit.
Unite now seems a little better. Probably more so since you can't chat in the game aside from giving alerts like "going bottom lane/going to lane" or "gather here" etc. Got a little better recently so been trying some ranked. It's been fun.

They need to add a "Stop Quitting." option to the quick chat. It is annoying when we are down and we have a snorlax or a ninetails or whatever just sitting there in spawn.

At least there's a function to tell the AI to follow you and fight.
Though for right now it's harming others especially in ranked. They should make it where if someone leaves a ranked game like that. No one on that team suffers loss of rank. The person that leaves loses a full class down. Great 3 to Great 2.

But on topic, yea, it happens a little more frequently in Quick Play to me at least. Not so much in ranked. Back in the lower ranks it did and it frustrated me but thankfully not so much now. But it is still annoying.

True, but it still hinders the team because the AI is kind of easy to demolish, unless you are behind.

If you'd like to play this weekend lemme know! I hit Great Rank last night. I've got to be pretty good with Pikachu and jungling as Zeraora. It's been a lot of fun!
Heck yeah! I'd so be down! I mostly just jungle as Talonflame though I have been practicing with Zeraora recently.

Dunno if you'd be down for it, but when I've played with friends Discord chat helps for communication a lot. Plus good laughs at times xD.
I can give the tips I've found for Zeraora if you'd like, but yeah landing isn't too hard. I do hate random matches often cause I'll be the first to call mid and as time is counting down someone else says mid and I'm fighting for blue buff first. It's annoying. Luckily I always get his slash attack first and wait til it's low and swipe it down to snatch it.

Yea, that is annoying. Ive had it where they swiped Snorlax from me before. Usually when that happens I just go roaming(Lucario or Machamp) and just pressure enemy jungle and Dreadnaw, or if our Jungler doesnt remember to always rebuff then i will go ours and switch between lanes.
I am glad they listened and dished out some buffs and nerfs, i am excited to see how broken this talonflame or wigglybuff is now.

As a Talonflame main, I'm happy about the buffs, though I can't notice how useful they are yet.
Also, I'm trying out Slowbro since I want to try being the Defender. It's great in Shivre City where there's only one goalpost to defend, but I have difficulties when all the enemies charge right through me rip

I played one game tonight. One. I see just how broke Wigglytuff is now. It can take on 2-3 players at once and survive. Where on e I was a full hp Chu a second later I'm low hp running away with the team.

Yeah my partner and I actually usually do Discord calls while we're playing too just so it's easier to communicate, so I'd be down for that!
I'd so down for tips! I run into issues where sometimes there's two junglers on the team and we're fighting for well... the jungle. So I might need to start diversifying a bit outside of Speedster just in case. Thankfully I'm getting a lot better at Talonflame I think. I managed to be the MVP of a match last night!

Yeah some people call jungle even after you've already locked it in. Or they will just select, not call anything, and try to take jungle even though you've called it. It's annoying. Luckily I've got a build where I've snatched the blue buff from them each time so far. Zeraora I've got Muscle Band, Float Stone, and Scope Lens. Helps with atk, crit, atk speed and movement speed when trying to engage or just move around freely.
Good new I've heard (haven't tried). Taonflame apparently got much better after it's buff the other day.
I almost hate this game came out cause I'm into it now xD. I'm sorta going back to my moba days xD.
I'd have to see what builds work best on Talonflame, but my assumption is a similar build to Zeraora. Maybe Sp. Atk instead? Not sure what it's based on in this game yet.
But yeah I'd totally be down to play tonight, tomorrow, or Saturday.

Talonflame's build is very similar to Zeraora. It uses Attack not special, because in the mainline games it's definitely a physical attacker. I've gotten two items on it so far, those being the muscle band and float stone. I'm trying to save up for the Scope Lens and Attack Weight though since that's what they usually recommend for Talonflame's build along with the Float Stone. Also hoping to get the Eject Button soon.
Yea, the talonflame buff is really nice. Fly is crazy good now.
I personally recommend Scope Lens over the Weight, but it never hurts to experiment.

Well it'd be in addition to the weight. The weight would replace the muscle band. Though I've debated experimenting with the score shield instead.
And yeah most sets recommend Brave Bird but I've found Fly is so much better for my play style.

These game companies need to learn how to nerf and buff.

I just hate how the community is pushing for a nerf to Zapdos. We don't need them making it easier for teams to take out something that can be a total game changer.
Noblejanobii
08-08-2021, 02:07 AM
They want them to make it easier to take out??? If anything I'd want them to nerf how broken Zapdos can be lmao. Because in most instances I've played, once a team gets Zapdos, that's it. I've only had one game so far where a team that failed to get Zapdos won against the team that did get it.
Voltaire Magneton
08-08-2021, 02:41 AM
Zapdos killsteals make me oof, but I can't think of an alternative to that.
Also, this just happened a while ago, I was waiting for a (ranked) match to load, when I realized that mine does not load. It went on for a few minutes, so I decided to restart the game. When I came back, it brought me back to that match again, and when it properly loaded this time, the match is already at the 4 minute mark and I'm already a level 7 Slowbro lmao, I feel bad for my teammates because they had an idle member. Thankfully though, we won but I feel icky about being literal deadweight for half of the match rip
Chakramaster
08-09-2021, 01:01 AM
I've had to jump in there and kill steal Zapdos a few times as Pikachu. A quick Unite move or a come in from the top and Electro Ball Zapdos when it's low then flee. It's tough, but sometimes it's worth the sacrifice if it helps the team run in and get easy last minute points.
Voltaire Magneton
08-09-2021, 12:24 PM
I just found out that the 2x point multiplier when shooting goals is automatically granted to everyone at the last 2 minutes of the game, and is not caused by a KO'd Zapdos. I still get why Zapdos is a gamechanger lol
Noblejanobii
08-09-2021, 03:01 PM
Yeah I've tried to kill steal with Zapdos in the past but I still need to get used to the proper timing of it because I always seem to duck in too early.

08-09-2021, 11:45 PM
it's really tough. Not only cause you gotta hope you won't get double teamed, but your level and held items depend on damage dealt too. It's a risky gambit, but sometimes worth the risk.

Yeah, a lot of places around here in NJ are enforcing the mask mandates again whether you've been vaccinated or not. Meanwhile, where I work (Ethicon, part of Johnson and Johnson), it's been mandated that you HAVE to be vaccinated. Personally, it makes sense and I'm not the tin foil hat type...
As I've told others... hate to say it, but it looks like we're getting a sequel to 2020's lockdowns and restrictions.
But yeah, as Chakra said, stay safe, everyone. To be honest, I haven't changed my ways all too much since 2020, still only getting curbside pickup orders rather than eating in restaurants. My brother also tends to use Door Dash a lot as well.

Yeah I wouldn't jump to conclusions or anything, but never assume it's just not either. Vaccinated or not and even if you feel it's not. Always good to play things safe in my book.
I have a special case having had these lung collapses. It comes with random days where my body/chest/back aches. Have days where it's harder to breathe. Especially so in summer with how heavy the humidity makes the air. I'd have to judge and go by how I feel. It's tough honestly to not assume it's one of the 3. Covid, happening again, or natural pains. Then having to explain the situation given if I do go see a doctor.
So yeah hopefully it's just natural stuff for you as well. Given the bite you had could be having some adverse effects.
Noblejanobii
08-19-2021, 01:44 PM
Yeah so I went to a doctor yesterday and my biopsy results came back at the same time. Long story short it's apparently not a spider bite, but rather a ruptured cyst. So now I'm just as confused as ever, haha.
Neo Emolga
08-20-2021, 02:02 AM
Yeah, cysts are weird and kinda gross, but at least it's not something more severe.
For me, I still have that weird cranking feeling going on in my back whenever I bend over. It doesn't hurt or anything, but I hope it doesn't become something nasty.
My mom has bad problems with cysts in her hand. Thankfully I never had to deal with that myself. I do however have a crack in my foot that aches whenever the cold weather rolls around.

Honestly I've never had a car and have no need for one. Better off without one, especially where I am now. DC's metro system isn't perfect but it's sufficient enough between the trains and the buses to get me where I need to go.
Chakramaster
08-25-2021, 12:46 PM
If only it were like that for me xD. Probably would save a good bit of money too. I have to drive an hour to and from work each day. That's a lot of gas from a gas guzzler that I drive. With gas at $2.62 a gallon (now....it was $2.89 not long ago) it gets really expensive and hard to save money.
Hopefully this late September I can talk with them on a raise since that's when I can after being on the job one year.
Noblejanobii
08-25-2021, 02:00 PM
Yeah I know from experience in the South especially it's hard to operate without a car because our infrastructure is very lacking. I'd definitely talk to them about that raise considering the price of gas and general car costs as well.
Neo Emolga
08-25-2021, 08:29 PM
I love that I can work from home because it has saved me oodles on not having to get gas, but otherwise, around here, you need a car for EVERYTHING. Taking the bus or the train has very tough limitations and very, very little is within walking distance.
It's just the way suburbia is, really.

The bad news is, they're pretty sure it's pneumonia. I'll be doing a CT scan next week to confirm it, but based on the chest x-rays from yesterday, I definitely have it in my upper right lung and I have some in my left lung too. Wheeee. Using up my sick days from work already haha.

Yeah, I've had to drive with fevers and that's not a whole lot of fun, either. Your sense of judgment and perception gets a bit screwed up and you're half-wondering if you'll even make it home.
Shopping definitely involves a lot of walking and you've got to be standing and reaching quite a bit. If all you want to be doing is sleeping, yeah, good luck trying to do that. And if you're getting a lot of stuff, lifting heavy bags of groceries and putting that stuff away is going to be a drudgery. XP
Hopefully by now you're doing better. :3

Only bad thing you gotta watch out for. If there's anything you want shiny wise. Don't get it before you find the shiny. Those legendary at the end. You can only get one of. You won't even know if it's shiny until after you beat it.
And yeah Noble. Hopefully everything will be better for you soon. Those hospital stays are never the best. Hope you get well soon.

Yeah, I'm just not a shiny hunter. It's challenging enough as is and I've come across so, so few shines and have flopped the attempt to catch them every time.
Meanwhile, I've tried to get Zygarde three times now and have gotten the stuffing beaten out of me every time. I have a feeling I'd need actual player peeps with me on that one as the team of AI players isn't up to snuff for this one.
Chakramaster
09-13-2021, 10:40 AM
That's the cool thing about Dynamax Adventures. Shiny are easier to find and all the Pokémon there are guaranteed catch. As long as you beat them.
Yeah sadly the AI players are not the brightest. Ever you want to play though let me (and probably some others) know! I'd love to give it another go.

09-14-2021, 10:07 AM
Yeah, these AI players do pretty stupid things. Constantly using Taunt or Entrainment over and over again adds up to so many wasted turns. That and I try to give them a new Pokémon to replace a badly beat-up one and of course the wrong person takes it and replaces a Pokémon that was perfectly fine and would have been helpful for the final battle. Ughhhh...

Unfortunately the hospital stay is ehhhh. I haven’t gotten a good night’s sleep since Wednesday, so ya know I’m constantly worn out from that plus the coughing. And unfortunately it looks like I’m stuck here indefinitely until any of their culture tests yield results since they have no idea what the cause of my pneumonia is.
Neo Emolga

Yeah, not being able to sleep was the same issue my dad had while at the hospital. Every four hours they come to take blood. Even at 4am. It's insane, how can people recover with that going on?
And yeah, it took a dang long time for them to finally have a discharge date. Those two weeks felt more like two months.

So I had a brainwave last week...
If I use OBS Studio whilst I have a zoom meeting, and use the virtual cam, I can record myself paying attention for the first ten minutes or so of class while it happens, I can then loop that footage and patch it in to my webcam stream...
Just gotta be quick to turn off the loop if I get asked a question...

Yeh I got maybe 2-3 hours last night? They’re also horribly understaffed here which means during the day shift, there are times when I don’t get my medicine that I NEED until 2-3 hours AFTER I’m supposed to get it, which screws everything up. We’re supposed to be able to call our personal nurses directly, but I have yet to have them actually answer my call. So then I have to ping the nurse’s desk, but that usually doesn’t do anything.
So as a result of this I’m in pain and have been throwing up way more than I should because I’m not getting what I need when I need it. I get they're short staffed but damn for one of the best hospitals in the country they are not making a good impression.

Sorry to hear that Noble. Yeah I remember how it was in the hospital. Would come in my room in the middle of the night. "Hey we need you to wake up so we can take an X-ray of your chest. Make sure your lung is staying inflated." Then the "oh here's your medicine" or "here's more pain medicine." As much as it helped it was awful getting so little sleep. The second time I was in the hospital longer and it alone wasn't good on my health. The picture they took of me was horrible cause it had been 5 days and no shower. They didn't even let me do anything to clean off until the last day.
I can only imagine how hard it is when they're so understaffed now. A lot of nurses are so overwhelmed too. They do need to be a little more attentive though in patients though. If they don't they couldn't end up having someone get worse off and that's not right at all. Yeah these issues are everywhere though. When I went to the hospital back in late December. I was there nearly 8 hours. All for nothing. Nothing but wasting time and it costing me $800 to be told "it's nothing."
Noblejanobii
09-17-2021, 02:22 AM
Yeah I’m pretty sure one of the injuries they think I have only resulted because my nurses didn’t give me some of my meds on time.
Either way I’m in the ICU now in preparation for some invasive procedures tomorrow. Since they don’t know what’s going on still, they’re sorta grasping at straws and trying everything they can to get some idea for a treatment plan.

Yeah, they think they've figured out what I have and we've got a treatment plan set in place. Unfortunately, it's not the most ideal situation it could have been. It sounds like I'll be discharged by the end of the week, if not sooner, but the trade off is I'm going to be essentially home bound for the next six months-ish. It depends on how I respond to the medications and treatment.
I've contracted an extremely rare immunocompromising disease that is lifelong and of which there is no cure. I'm counting my blessings that I'm alive and that we caught this early, but at the same time, getting confirmation that my life will never be the same is a lot to take in. I have a lot to tackle in the near future, including how to handle my job and stuff. My parents and friends are here to help every step of the way as they can, but the road ahead is long, and we're just going to take it a step at a time.

Yeah I'm just trying to take stuff in stride. The treatment plan they have me on is the best they have atm and seems to be pretty successful so even though it's not a cure, it's not like my life is over. It's just something I'll have to deal with for the rest of my life, assuming no cure is ever made ofc. My mom is more stressed out about it than I am. And like there is reason to worry because my kidneys are the main things suffering right now, and if I lose a kidney quite candidly I'm kinda screwed over in many ways, but it doesn't sound like that's something I have to stress over quite yet so I'm just taking it as I go.

Nope I'll still be in DC! Homebound meaning I literally can't leave my apartment at all except for treatments/doctor visits for the next 6 months-ish. My parents are taking shifts to help take care of me since I can't even go visit the grocery store or anything. Which means I might lose my job since a component of it does require me to be in person, but obviously I can't do that if I'm not allowed to leave the house.
It's called Granulomatosis with polyangiitis, or GPA for short. You might have heard it called "Wegener's granulomatosis" which is the former name for it, but that was changed because the scientist it was named for was a Nazi. It's part of a family of disorders called "vasculitis" which is like the easiest of the names to say, haha.

Yeah, I feel like I've been stressing out over my Dad more than he is stressed out about himself. Glad he's home from the hospital, though, that was a bit of a scare when his pulse jumped back up to the 140s on Monday.
If your kidneys are at risk, probably means not to reach for caffeine or alcohol and instead just keep it easy with water. If I had to give up coffee and beer, well, I wouldn't be thrilled about it, but I'd live and I'm quite sure I'd cope. Though I'd have to give away my stock to friends and family so it wouldn't keep sitting there in front of me. XD

Yeah thankfully I was never much of an alcohol drinker anyway (I was always moreso the type that only drank when I went out with friends), so cutting that out of my diet won’t be hard. But in order to keep my kidneys healthy I have to watch my sodium, potassium, phosphorus, and protein levels, with certain regulations as to how much I can have of each. For the most part, with the way my diet is already, most of this isn’t hard, but I’ve only been home a day and the sodium one is already the most difficult.
Since I was set to move apartments the weekend I went into the hospital, my dad went and bought a bunch of food for me before we knew what was wrong, so a lot of the food in my new apartment is waaaay too high in sodium for me to safely eat even in small amounts. It’ll be easier once we’re able to clear all that out and set me up with low sodium options but the start of this new diet is gonna be rough. I also have to cut back a lot on soda, like you said, so for now to sorta help me transition, I’ve been drinking Sprite since the doctor said that’s mostly okay since it doesn’t have phosphorus in it.
I also have to be careful of how much I eat too since the steroids I’m prescribed have a side effect known as “Moon Face” which essentially just means: 1) my hunger receptors are messed up and I am hungry all the time now, and B) I gain weight at a much more accelerated rate than before, causing me to look puffy. And it’s much easier to put on the weight than lose it. So it’s just a matter of maintaining the balance.
I’ll figure it out in the long run but at the start this is going to be rough. I’m literally having to calorie count my sodium hahaha.
Neo Emolga
09-26-2021, 02:55 AM
It's hard when so dang many foods have insanely high sodium counts. I swear I can't find a decent brand of soup that doesn't have an absurdly high amount of sodium. The "healthiest" one I've found is still ticking up there at 50% of your daily allotment of sodium.
Crazy, and I used to think soup was relatively healthy and nutritious with vegetables and proteins.
Noblejanobii
09-26-2021, 03:24 AM

I know yesterday was odd for me. I was out of energy pretty much all day from around 12pm. I kept getting notices from my watch telling me my heart rate had been over 120 for at least 10 mins. I checked what the watch said it was and it was around 145 at the time. Highest it got was 148. After I got home I rested a bit and it stayed at about 120ish. Today it's only been in the 90s. So not sure what was happening yesterday, but glad it calmed down.
Well hopefully you can find good substitutes. I dunno about you, but I'm a super picky eater xD. Hopefully I'm not that much of a burden to those around me with that...
Noblejanobii
09-27-2021, 12:38 AM
Huh yeah that is weird. I'm having to watch my heart rate too though for similar reasons. I remember the doctors saying sometimes with young people are hearts just kinda go fast sometimes for no apparent reasons? That it's likely some sort of latent or subconscious stress but that for people in their 20s and younger it's not the weirdest thing to happen. Definitely keep an eye on it though if it becomes a consistent problem.
I actually am a fairly picky eater which is part of why this is gonna be such a lifestyle change for me, haha. But we're adapting and working through it.

As a kid I used to be a picky eater. I guess a few bad run-ins with trying new foods really got to me, but as an adult, I've been much more adventurous. I'll usually at least try something before passing judgment, although there's a few things that I'd just have to give a pass.
For me, I'm not crazy at all about tuna fish and I've tried it multiple times. And anything with mayo is usually not something I go for, either. You definitely won't see me diving for a potato salad at a barbecue. xD
Noblejanobii
09-28-2021, 12:32 AM
I definitely am willing to try new foods and such if given the opportunity, much more so than when I was a kid, but I'm still a picky eater regardless haha. Textures for whatever reason are something I've always been super sensitive to when eating and it just makes things wonky.
I can like tolerate tuna but my mom made me eat it like every day for several weeks during the pandemic so now it just sorta makes my stomach turn.
Neo Emolga
09-28-2021, 01:12 AM
Ah yeah, olives are another thing I'm not crazy about. I gave them another shot a short while ago and their taste is just... off and kind of distracting from everything else in the salad (usually what I find them in). My dad doesn't like olives either, and he doesn't like mushrooms on top of that (I'm okay with them, though I won't go out of my way to add them in myself).
I also don't care for mustard or American cheese (not fond of blue cheese crumbles either). With cheese, I'd WAY rather have Swiss, cheddar, or provolone. But yeah, quickest way to kill a burger for me would be to put American cheese, mustard, and mayo on that. You might as well dump gravy, peas, and orange slices on my ice cream.
And yeah, I get the thing about textures. That's what really got me as a kid. If something looked messy or slimy, I assumed it would taste terrible and wanted nothing to do with it. So something like a burrito or a pot pie would terrify me as a kid, but now, hey, those are pretty good.
Chakramaster
09-28-2021, 01:33 PM
Are we trying to see who is most picky here? XD
I hate vegetables. Don't like pickles of any kind or the juice from them. Not a big fan of mustard, but it won't kill me on certain things. I don't care for mushrooms, don't even like them, but if you cook a steak with them (and take them out afterward) it makes the steak taste better.
If some reason the Japanese restaurant o go to makes mine with veggies. It has to be remade or else it taste totally wrong to me. I don't even really like salads. I've tried in the past, but the only place I even liked it a little was Olive Garden drenched in their sauce.
I'm not too picky on a type of cheese. American, cheddar, Swiss, doesn't matter to me. Though I do prefer Swiss or Provolone. But yeah far as burgers go. I'm only for plain with cheese kinda guy. Add some A1 to flavor it more. Like Neo says. Mayo or mustard on it ruins it for me. With the additions of anything else besides the meat and cheese for me.
Oh yeah textures are a major part of deciding too. Slime like was awful. Some other things (like I actually tried Miso soup recently. Had a weird texture to it....but being made with seaweed is why. Not....not a fan. I used to eat pot pie as a kid, but moved away from it. Far away xD.
Noblejanobii
09-28-2021, 06:38 PM
Honestly with the cheeses you're better of not eating American anyway haha. The amount of sodium in a single slice of that stuff is ASTOUNDING. Swiss seems to be the best overall when it comes to sodium, potassium, etc. as I have recently discovered. Though I will say I am bemoaning the fact that I won't be able to have Havarti as much as I used to. So delicious but so unhealthy for me now.
Chakramaster

If we're talking about picky eating I feel like I'm the only person who hates bread. Doesn't matter what kind. There are a few exceptions though, such as french toast (because it has a completely different taste, smell, and texture than just bread) or garlic bread (that is crispy). I tried salad with no dressing but guhhh, I couldn't keep that going for too long. Romaine lettuce with no dressing actually tastes kind of bitter with no dressing at all. My dad and I thought the same. A big place like NEW YORK CITY and the Olive Garden there only able to give one breadstick per person was crazy. I mean you could ask for more, but by the time they'd bring you "one" more your food would be cold. Made no sense.
They even got our food wrong when we told them word for word that he and I split one meal usually. They brought two and charged two. Needless to say we complained, they didn't charge us, and we left. At least Red Lobster went over better xD.
We were told it was a 2 hour wait there. Went over to the bar and saw an open table. Sat down and a waiter came over and took our pager and we got a good meal.

Personally it's those cold months I'd love to. But you all know me like that by now xD. I much prefer the cold anyway. Feels better for being able to explore around the city. Rather than sweating to death outside. Maybe one day, but probably won't be anytime soon seeing NYC again at least.

I mean I definitely wouldn't go during like the summer months that's just asking for trouble. Sometime like April or October I think would be ideal for me. Not too hot and not too cold.

I haven't been to NYC since COVID, but yeah, it's taken a tumble in terms of crime, homelessness, and crime. And a lot of the reasons why we went before (mainly Broadway shows) have been canceled, so I haven't really been itching to go back.

funny, but when we went back in 2011. We didn't even watch a Broadway show.

There's a few good ones. I can't recommend Chicago, though, I feel like the movie was vastly superior. Mama Mia is good fun, though.
I also should have seen Spamalot while I had the chance.

I’m not sure what’s on Broadway right now but definitely recommend the classics like Mary Poppins and Phantom of the Opera. Having seen them both on Broadway and in smaller theaters, the on Broadway versions are just vastly superior experiences.
Hamilton, of course, is also one I’d recommend seeing but in my experience I don’t think it matters where you see it because they choreographed it well enough to be very adaptable to most theaters. Aladdin is actually pretty good too. It’s a Bit different from either of the movies, but I think that makes it a more fun experience, plus the soundtrack is SO good. Finding Neverland was alright on Broadway but I also think it falls into the category of “just as enjoyable off Broadway”.
I haven’t seen many shows on Broadway itself but have seen my fair share of musicals including Kinky Boots (loved it), Wicked (absolutely loved it), and Sister Act (really really enjoyed it). So if you need recommendations I can give you some haha.

That would be assuming I even go anytime soon xD. Would love to see one in person one day. Back when I went there were a few, but we weren't interested in (can't even remember the names). Wicked and Sister Act (those movies were fun xD) seem interesting. Not sure on Momma Mia. Never saw that movie. Not sure about Chicago either. Never saw it.
I can't think of Aladdin being on Broadway now without thinking about Impractical Jokers doing that one punishment on Arabian Knights in Broadway for one of the Jokers xD.
Would be interesting to go see one to say I've seen one.

I haven't seen the Wicked movie so I can't say how it compares to the musical but I'd highly recommend it regardless. I've seen it like 3 or 4 times and loved it every time. Sister Act is a lot of fun too. It's different from the movie but not in a bad way. I'd say it's equally if not moreso entertaining as a musical than it was as a movie.
Still definitely would say Phantom of the Opera or Mary Poppins would be the top two picks to see on Broadway though, just because of some of the choreography and stage work they do. They try to replicate it off-Broadway but it's not the same experience and is far superior on the Broadway stage.

I've seen Les Miserables, Mama Mia, Chicago, Jersey Boys, and Ain't Too Proud. I think Chicago was the only one that was a bit disappointing as there was absolutely no scenery and little use of props, so it was a bit hard to trace what was going on. Performances and singing were great, but that bit of context would have been nice. Meanwhile, the Chicago movie makes it much, much clearer as to what is going on and it plays out pretty well between what's happening to Roxie in the real world versus the performances that are going on in her head. The Broadway show makes it significantly harder to tell the difference and I can imagine anyone who saw the musical but not the movie would have trouble understanding what exactly happened.
The others, however, were fantastic and quite great. I haven't see any of the ones Noble mentioned, but I'm curious about Wicked and I've only heard good things about Phantom of the Opera.

we should all totally meet up there and have fun in NY one day! Decide on a Broadway to see

Oh I've seen Les Miserables too!! Great show. Didn't see it on Broadway but it was amazing regardless. I'd totally be up for a Broadway field trip in the future too.

Hey guys, how are you all doing? :)
Have you guys played deltarune? I just finished the second part and it reminded me of when everyone changed their names to be Undertale characters xD

Sarah! Great to see you here again! How's life been?
Oh yeah I've totally played it! Just not the Genocide path (secret path) yet. The secret boss to this one was wild! I had to replay through chapter 1 since this new computer didn't have a save file from it. Good news is now chapter 3 shouldn't take as long. So Toby says with his team now.

Hey Sarah, welcome back!
I haven't played it, or Chapter 1 for that matter. Kind of waiting until the whole game is complete before diving in.

Could I ask that any Deltarune discussion be put in spoiler tags? Chapter 2 came out while I was in the hospital so I’ve only just barely gotten to play it yet and I’m trying to do so as blind as possible like I did chapter 1. So while I only barely read Chakra’s post I already saw something that’s technically a spoiler. ^^;

I'm usually careful about that kinda stuff. I read through a few times and didn't see anything spoiler related myself. But yeah anything I would've said would be spoiler tagged. Not really planning on talking more unless someone asked directly xD.
Sorry if anything came off as a spoiler in that post, but yeah no plans of discussing anything on it deeper into detail without spoiler tags.

Technically really any details regarding chapter 2 at all are spoilers for me because I know literally nothing about it so even the vague details were more than I already knew. ^^;
I appreciate you spoilering it though. Thanks!
I've been trying to progress but I've only made it so far as ENTERING the computer lab Dark World so ANY game details beyond that are spoilers for me, sorry.

Sadly it's probably going to be a few more years before it's fully released.

Nono, sorry on my part. Wasn't aware you were trying to keep everything underwraps . Thought mention of things we already knew about wouldn't be considered spoilers.
Enjoy the game though! It's great as always!

Hmm, yeah, you're probably right.
For me, sometimes it's very tough to pick a game back up after I haven't played it for so long. Not to mention there's plenty of games that I haven't finished that I know I'd have to start over to figure out how to do things again.

Yeah I had to replay Deltarune chapter 1 before I went into chapter 2 as well to refresh myself with the mechanics and story, so I understand what you mean.

Yeah, for me, trying to get back into certain MMOs is generally quite hard if I haven't played them in over a year. Also, there's a bunch of RPGs where I'd probably be wandering around for hours talking to every NPC trying to figure out where I left off and what I need to do to advance.

Yep that makes total sense to wait until all the parts are out, Neo. That's why I didn't play chapter one until now. But I was looking on the switch eshop and noticed part two was out so I thought I'd give it a go while waiting for the diamond and pearl remakes since I could download it for free.
I feel like I will definitely need to replay it when the next parts come out. I read some stuff about it when I had finished and realised I had missed a bunch of stuff as well haha, oops! I've also forgotten most of Undertale so I might replay that next. xD I do remember how annoying the Dummy fight was though so I'm not looking forward to that (but I do love the music, it's been my phone ringtone since then xD)
It's great to see you all though! :D I've been doing fine. Been in lockdown the last few months... Australia was so slow to order vaccines so it feels like 2020 all over again. But I'm getting my second dose on Friday finally, hooray!! And aside from that I had lots of fun playing new Pokemon Snap which is pretty much my dream game.

Yeah the fact you transfer data over between each chapter and your past actions matter in those. It's incredible that it's gonna have so many parts you can transfer. From what I've heard though this is going to be the last free to download part. Parts 3 and onward we will have to pay for.
Quite honestly I haven't played Undertale in years either xD. I still remember it quite well, but probably not well enough.
Yeah I've been hearing the pain Australia ha been going though with so many lockdowns. Hopefully things start to clear up soon and get better. Congrats on getting your second dose soon! I know a lot there are still struggling to even get scheduled.
New Pokémon Snap was so much fun! Would be nice to see more from it, but I think they're moving away from it sadly. At least some of my favorites are in it!

I don't know if I'd give up hope on more content for New Pokémon Snap just yet. The DLC was only just released in August, which was like three months after the game came out, so it's possible we might get another DLC drop around Christmas they just haven't advertised yet. The latest Animal Crossing game is still getting new content over a year and a half after its release so it's entirely possible we'll see new stuff for NPS in the future.
That said, I do need to finish playing it. I love the game a lot but I can only play it in small doses because it makes me motion sick, haha.

Do you use the motion controls or do you have that turned off? I couldn't deal with that either. I had to use analog sticks to play. Sorry to hear that either way.
Yeah I'm not giving up on it for sure. There's always a chance. Just never know what to expect either.

Snap is fun when you unlock a new area, but there's been times I've done the same course five times over and had to look up how to unlock the next one. Part of the fun is trying to get those decent shots on the first run through when you don't know what to expect, but if you do it again and again, you know exactly where each Pokémon are going to be and how they will behave. It's not quite the same when those fun surprises are now things you know to expect, though it is good when you're going for those gold and platinum ratings, I guess.

I use the analog sticks not motion controls. My motion sickness just gets triggered that easily. Usually I can last longer if I don't have to spin around much but like the water based courses have been especially hard for me to get through because you're pretty much constantly turning on those to get decent shots.

Kinda like what I did when trying to get the best picture of Jirachi. Got an amazing shot the first time I went for it. Then I proceeded to play over an hour trying to get the extra special shots. Getting those perfect shots are not easy that's for sure. It feels so good when you finally get that perfect shot though.

Ah gotcha. Yeah it can be a pain. I get motion sickness in a car sometimes, but not often. So I can understand the motion sickness to a point. Some of those levels can just be tricky with all those turns.
