View Full Version : If you could become an animal...

So, you're informed that you have a chance to become an animal when you die, or to just carry on with whatever you believe happens after death. You're allowed to pick any animal that currently lives. This includes insects, and microorganisms of course!
What would you pick? Do you want to learn what it's like to be a small parasite? Would soaring through the sky as a bird be enjoyable? Do you want to bask in the sun as an iguana? What about galloping around like an okapi? Forming friendships as a painted dog?
You pick!.. and tell us why. Keep in mind you will remember your life as a human (I'm assuming that anyone reading this thread is human haha)! Why would you want to be this animal?
Although painted dogs are my favourite animal I think I would enjoy being a fennic fox. I'd enjoy the warm weather and marvel at my own adorable ears. Foxes are cunning and I like to think I am too! I can relate to this animal... and well, who doesn't love a fox?

I think I would pick a bird because I've always thought flying looked like so much fun. Maybe an owl or an eagle or something that doesn't really have to worry about predators too much. Eating mice doesn't sound that fun though. So I might even go with a Noisy Miner (http://wingedhearts.org/files/images/n-miners-ssh_1844.jpg), which is my favourite bird that I see around the place. That way I can eat nectar instead. :P

Hmm.... A Bald Eagle. Lemme list some reasons why I would be him:
1. Hunting Bald Eagles is illegal.
2. They look awesome.
3. They're fierce.
4. They're idolized by all of America.
5. You can fly around for really long periods of time.
6. Since hunting you is outlawed, you get extra care.

Well I would probably choose to go to afterlife (yay religion!) :P
But to choose an animal... Hmm...
Kangaroo? No, hunted and too stupid around roads.
Fox? No, same as above.
Domesticated Dog? I like having testicals. No thanks... I also don't like their food. Eww.
Domesticated cat? Same as dog.
Giant Firebreqthing Drqgon From Skyrim? That will do nicely...haha but in all seriousness, I could pick faults at animals for days on end. I don't think I could decide.

If given the choice, I would likely just carry on after death, but if I had to choose an animal...
...I'd go with a dolphin. They're smart, playful, can do all kinds of amazing tricks and things, and almost always look like they're having a great time. Plus come on, who doesn't like dolphins?
So long and thanks for all the fish.

Much like Comatose and Neo, I would definitely choose to move on after death.
That being said, if I were to choose, I would be a lion. I'm almost obsessed with lions. They are the single most beautiful/majestic animal in the world, as far as I'm concerned. I can go to a zoo and stand at the lion enclosure for hours just watching them (and secretly plotting how best to get in and cuddle them...).

Being a lion would be pretty awesome, but I wouldn't be able to decide wether to be that, an eagle, or a sloth (sloths are awesome)

A raven or a hummingbird.
Either an avian smart *** in black or pure sugar high all day long... also the ravens around where I live are huge. Carry away a small child huge... and considering I'd remember my life as a human... and ravens are capable of using simple tools... yep, going with a raven.

My first thought was seadragons or jellyfish or some kind of aquatic life, but I decided on a stoat. They're athletic cold blooded murderers disguised in adorable tubes of fur. The first half of the video is stoats playing, the second is one hunting, so if you don't want to see a rabbit get taken down by a stoat just watch the first half.

Ravens are amazing. They are huge (a LOT bigger than most people realize) and they're incredibly intelligent. Not to mention they're beautiful.

If you are going based off intelligence I would say the Mimic Octopus would be a safe choice. Most of the stuff ive read about it is pretty amazing. They believe certain types of octopus are smarter than any other animal on the planet next to ourselves. The can change shape, color, and mimic predictors, they can open jars, figure out basic locks and open refrigerator doors.

Octopus are definitely extremely smart! Good call.
Also aww, it's cute to read these posts and learn what people value in their "human life" and would want to pass onto their "animal life". Some want to keep their intelligence, some want to remain cute ( ;) ) others want to be brave animals, etc. In a way this is a neat way to learn what people value as far as human characteristics.

I would like to be a killer whale. They're highly intelligent, fearsome, and beautiful all at once.
