It was one of those "I think I'm forgetting something, oh I know" moments.

Lately I've been busy with car trouble. Car's been in the shop since Friday over exhaust and emission problems. I'm just hoping it's not a huge bill. :P

Voltaire Magneton
08-08-2022, 10:52 PM
Yeah, I sometimes forget this thread is a thing and hope someone else replied during that time (aside from when I'm the last poster, of course :P)

Hope your car trouble's fine now :o

Neo Emolga
08-08-2022, 11:58 PM
Yep, thankfully I got it back this afternoon and it seems to be working fine. Still chopped $200 out of me, but I'm glad it wasn't anything really bad or drastic.

My aunt and uncle lost one of their cars in an accident (they're ok) but now they need a new car and the market for them is pretty tough these days.

Chakramaster
08-09-2022, 02:01 AM
Yeah it's why I still haven't got myself a new car. Still having to borrow my dad's car. The market is awful for a new (and used) car. Glad to hear your car issue wasn't super serious dude.

Neo Emolga
08-09-2022, 08:03 AM
Yeah, as if gas prices weren't bad enough. :P

Our van is getting up there in miles and years, too, and the trunk door was badly dented when a pickup truck rear-ended my dad while he was driving it. Miraculously, the trunk door lights weren't damaged, it still opens and closes just fine, and even the rear view camera still works.

Keep on the lookout for a sale. I'm sure it will at some point soon. It's a lot of fun! If you do get it let me know! I'd love to battle others in it! Helps me learn more play styles.

Pokken is definitely lots of fun. I'll be sure to tell you when I get it.
2 years later and I'm keeping my promise :P
But yeah, I bought Pokken in the current sale, dunno if anyone still plays it anymore but it's still fun. :3

Neo Emolga
08-11-2022, 11:06 PM
Yeah, I never did play Pokken. Usually fighting games aren't my kind of thing and the only one I've really played in recent years is Smash Bros Ultimate.

Memorizing combos and button sequences was always a pain. Trying to do that for some of the older Mortal Kombat games was like studying for an exam (in addition to remembering how to do some of the fatalities). And this was before the internet was available to look these things up. :P

Oh man I haven't played in so long xD. I wonder if I remember how to play...

Neo Emolga
08-13-2022, 12:16 AM
Too often if I abandon a game for too long and I didn't finish it, I end up having to start all over again and pretend I'm a newbie just to relearn what I forgot.

Sometimes I'm able to get back into it, but there's other games where I've forgotten how everything works and it's usually when the enemies have gotten tougher.

Chakramaster
08-14-2022, 08:17 AM
I feel the same. Unless it's a game I remember really well. I almost feel like I have to start all over again. Otherwise I won't remember all the controls or story.

Neo Emolga
08-14-2022, 02:41 PM
Yeah, it's especially bad if there's certain combo moves or sequences that need to be remembered and I've long forgotten them. And then not having those kinds of things for certain encounters means you're getting destroyed. MMOs are especially bad for this and I find myself having to retrain and practice on low level monsters again just to get a feel for how to do things again.

I find FPS games are pretty easy and quick to get back into if I haven't played them for a while. Heck most of the time I barely even feel the hiatus with those kinds of games.

Voltaire Magneton
08-15-2022, 09:51 PM
I have a farm simulator game I was playing before Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes came out, hopefully I still remember how to play that game lmao tbf it's just point and click, but the management is the problem.

Neo Emolga
08-15-2022, 10:38 PM
Alice: Madness Returns is a game I got very far in, but for some reason or another, I drifted out of playing it and I think I'd have a pretty tough time getting back into it. I'd hate to have to start completely over again, though. Dust: An Elysian Tail is another one that if I were to try playing it again, I'd have no idea what's going on or where I left off.

But yeah, so many unfinished games. Problem is too many cool new games keep coming out and there's no real downtime where I'm rummaging through the old stuff to wrap things up.

Voltaire Magneton
08-15-2022, 10:50 PM
Yeah, games tend to come out all at once.

I actually don't have anything to play atm, I even have to turn off my Switch since I don't use it daily like I used to.

Neo Emolga
08-16-2022, 02:19 AM
Yeah, I don't play my Switch very much at all. Most of my gaming is on the PC and I'm usually playing something on Steam.

During a great Steam sale, games get so ridiculously cheap. Countless hours of entertainment for only a few bucks. Can't go wrong with that! Sure beats shelling out hundreds for pro baseball and football games that only last a few hours.

Voltaire Magneton
08-16-2022, 10:10 PM
I remember buying FNAF for a dollar on Steam, I'd say it's a good thing because I didn't even finish Night 5 lol

I also bought Undertale on sale, as a cheapskate it was worth it at that price haha

On the other hand, I bought Stardew Valley at full price, definitely worth it (and even bought it again for my Switch)

Neo Emolga
08-17-2022, 01:14 AM
I've never played FNAF but dang, I've seen it referenced just about everywhere. I can definitely see the Chuck E Cheese animatronics inspiration. As a kid, I never was scared of those things, but holy smokes, they were definitely pretty dumb-looking. Never knew any kid on the planet that actually liked those things.

But yeah, really, it does have me wondering just what kind of adult thought those were a good idea during the board meeting.

Voltaire Magneton
08-17-2022, 10:57 AM
It's the uncanny valley design, I guess. Plus maybe kids don't see them as creepy as adults do. There's some mascots and/or cartoon characters that I found decently cute back then but now find kinda creepy as an adult lol

Neo Emolga
08-18-2022, 02:02 AM
Yeah, clowns are definitely a great example of that. They're WAY more associated with horror and negative perceptions than they are with positive ones. Not sure if it specifically started with Pennywise but it's definitely way more of a trend now. But yeah, it follows the formula of taking something that was meant to be entertaining and even funny and make it horrifying and murderous. It can be more effective at being terrifying than something that's brutally upfront about being evil and dark as with clowns and animatronics, that feeling of deception and betrayal is now there, especially with the kind of innocent and unknowing childlike trust that things like that have placed in them.

It also works with locations that were meant to be happy, fun, and relaxing. I've seen plenty of carnival settings go to hell, along with vacation islands and camp grounds. It's easier to make a situation more terrifying if the cast has their guards down because they thought they were in for a good time, not a terrifying one, and as a result, they're totally not prepared and they're desperate.

Chakramaster
08-18-2022, 09:52 PM
Speaking of clowns though. We're moving so close to Halloween already.

Neo Emolga
08-19-2022, 02:45 AM
Yeah, already those Spirit Halloween stores are popping up everywhere and anywhere again. xD

Haven't gone to one in a while, though. I already have so many costume options. xD

Voltaire Magneton
08-20-2022, 04:43 AM
I haven't seen any Halloween stuff, but then it isn't that big here.

Chakramaster
08-20-2022, 03:28 PM
Yeah they've started going up here around the end of last month here. Steadily coming out more.

Neo Emolga
08-21-2022, 12:14 AM
I think with Covid being pretty much over, Halloween parties and events may be coming back and more of a thing.

They weren't too big last year, but I think there's been improvement.

Voltaire Magneton
08-22-2022, 10:52 AM
I'm still uneasy with crowded areas, but it's nice to see events popping up recently. As long as they don't cause trouble, pandemic wise.

Neo Emolga
08-22-2022, 11:03 PM
I'd say my fear of Covid is pretty much gone. I've know quite a few people that have gotten it and now it only seems like you're sick for a couple days and that's it.

And yeah, I want to get back to living normally, too. A life lived in fear is a life half-lived.

Voltaire Magneton
08-23-2022, 10:44 PM
I agree with you. But I still have to avoid it for an upcoming event next month, otherwise I won't be able to join in.

I admit hearing people cough still makes me anxious haha

Neo Emolga
08-25-2022, 12:37 AM
Yeah, I was planning on attending the NY Renaissance Faire sometime early to mid September. Catching Covid around then would... suck. And I don't think it would matter too much considering the whole thing is like 99% outdoors.

Chakramaster
08-25-2022, 01:12 AM
Yeah and it's awful it's affecting schools still. I'm hearing stories of some kids getting kicked out of school because they aren't wearing a mask. One story of where the principal called the cops on a 4 yr old because he wasn't wearing a mask. Covid has made everything so much worse for the entire world.

Neo Emolga
08-25-2022, 02:49 AM
The stupid thing is it doesn't even affect kids that much. Definitely feels more like it's just to get them to comply with instructions. It made sense in the beginning with the deadlier strains, but now they've weakened considerably and the chances of being even hospitalized from it are incredibly low.

I mean really, with the way some of these teachers and principals are going, it's like they want kids to wear masks forever and ever. Heck, why not just have the whole class show up in hazmat suits? And on top of that, roll everyone around in bubble wrap to keep them really safe! Yeah, that's totally the way to live!

People need to get back to being realistic and reasonable.

Voltaire Magneton
08-26-2022, 06:16 AM
I'm guessing once medicine for COVID is created the concern would be diminished.

Chakramaster
08-26-2022, 10:19 AM
Well it's all a part of our daily lives now. We will probably need to get an annual vaccine like for many other things out there. The main thing it. Now that we have a better protection from it. We can't continue to live in fear of it. Else, life will never go back to at least some sense of normalcy.

Neo Emolga
08-26-2022, 11:36 PM
Yeah, that's my thing. There's always going to be some risk in all everyday things. Driving in a car, taking the elevator, getting on an airplane... you can't always be thinking about what the worst possible outcome is going to be. Same goes for Covid. If you've gotten the vaccines, then the risk of you getting seriously ill from Covid are very low. You might still catch it (plenty of people I know have gotten it), but your chances of surviving it are drastically higher, especially if you're in pretty good health (younger, not obese, not smoking, etc.).

We've been cooped up under restrictions for the last two years. It's time to get out there and have fun again. And if you're still not sure, you have to ask yourself when will you feel safe enough again to be living normally?

Chakramaster
08-28-2022, 01:19 AM
Yeah you really never know how the next day is going to be. The next virus could be right around the corner. These things are always evolving. So we can't just let it run how things are around the world. Otherwise we will never see any sense of normalcy again.

Neo Emolga
08-28-2022, 05:15 PM
Yeah, I think initially people were freaking out about Monkeypox, but that doesn't spread around nearly as easily as Covid does.

Still, that's not one to be afraid of either.

Voltaire Magneton
08-29-2022, 12:34 AM
Plus, we have a working vaccine for that one, so we're not starting from scratch.

Chakramaster
08-30-2022, 11:34 AM
It works for sure. We may just have to continue getting a booster.

Neo Emolga
08-30-2022, 11:31 PM
Yeah, seems like it's going to be a similar deal as getting regular flu vaccines. I'm just glad I can easily go entire days now with totally forgetting Covid was even a thing. 2020 was... a big pile of suck I'd rather not go through again.

Chakramaster
08-31-2022, 01:52 AM
Yeah I don't think I can suffer another quarantine like 2020. I have heard the first US death of Monkey Pox was confirmed. Hopefully this doesn't get out of control.

wemidem
08-31-2022, 08:59 PM
2020 was... a big pile of suck for me too, I'd rather not go through again. the only thing that was really good, I have found a lot of interesting and profitable games. for example this one https://betwinner.africa/. online gaming gives you much more freedom and adaptability to the players. You can play online casino games without following any guidelines and rules, no matter where you are located, as long as you have your gadget and are connected to the internet.

Neo Emolga
09-01-2022, 10:17 PM
Yeah, I don't think it will get nearly to the point that Covid did. Some people might still have a bit of virus panic mode going on, but I think we're already pretty close to the light at the end of the tunnel.

As far as Monkeypox goes, I think we'll be fine. It really only spreads among those that engage in some rather... well, XXX activities if you know what I mean. But yeah, I've seen some pictures of what it looks like and dang, it's not a pretty thing at all.

Why can't there be cool diseases/viruses that grant us special abilities and powers instead of sicknesses and weaknesses? Feels unfair that all of these things are always detrimental rather than beneficial.

Voltaire Magneton
09-02-2022, 10:08 AM
I think you're thinking of Pokerus :P

Neo Emolga
09-02-2022, 07:19 PM
Yeah, something like that! But in real life!

Well, at least we don't have people getting turned into zombies or feral ghouls.

Voltaire Magneton
09-02-2022, 09:17 PM
I've seen some people who actually didn't get the vaccine because of the zombie scare... like bruh you won't be pulling off a zombie movie protagonist lmao

Neo Emolga
09-02-2022, 11:00 PM
Probably got it from watching too much I Am Legend or something like that.

Sure, I can understand some people might be wary of something that was rushed into release, but the alternative of having your lungs get ravaged... yeah, I wouldn't want that.

Voltaire Magneton
09-04-2022, 09:33 PM
True. Apparently, it's not rushed, every other vaccine (or scientific work) is delayed for lack of funding. And since it's a global interest, ot got the funds real quick.

Neo Emolga
09-05-2022, 02:50 AM
Research and development is INSANELY expensive. It's the kind of thing where you can blow through millions of dollars just to come up empty-handed because the results of testing come out poor or the solution you're trying to make just isn't possible with today's current technology. Meanwhile, even if you get a medicine or medical device that's really quite good but there's too many side effects or it would be too expensive to put on the market and no one could afford it, that could cause the whole thing to go poof as well.

Sometimes the reasons why certain medications or procedures are so expensive is because the money has to make up not only for the costs of research and development that went into making that possible, but it's also to cover all the other research that didn't see the light of day and all the other operational costs as well.

Voltaire Magneton
09-06-2022, 08:45 PM
Yeah, if only people budgeted their funds over these rather than... somewhere else.

Neo Emolga
09-07-2022, 12:29 AM
Yeah, people spend their money on a LOT of stupid stuff.

I still don't get how NFTs ever took off. I mean if you're smart enough to be able to earn money and know how to do a basic transaction like buy something at a store and that you aren't as oblivious as plant life, you should be smart enough to know how much of a sham those things are...

Voltaire Magneton
09-08-2022, 12:38 AM
How NFTs and crypto get their monetary value is too flimsy to even consider trusting them with it.

Neo Emolga
09-08-2022, 12:54 AM
I can somewhat understand the people that set up a PC to farm crypto stuff and then immediately trade it over for cash. My brother does that, although it seems like it uses a LOT of electric power and generates a crazy amount of heat, which seems sketchy to me. I have a PC that could do it, but dang, this house is hot enough as is. That and I've heard this kind of practice really isn't good for the environment...

NFTs seem like they were built on the premise that some gullible sap puts money into it hoping some other gullible sap comes along and buys it for more than what the first sap paid for. Not only is this a lousy premise, but I've heard of NFTs getting stolen en masse and what's already a problem with humanity got even worse.

I'm just surprised there are people that put millions into these things. Something that has no entertainment value, no utility, no physical form, and is easily subject to being stolen or deleted. :P

Chakramaster
09-08-2022, 12:59 PM
When I think of things like that. It reminds me of the game called "Welcome to the Game 2." Sounds like it's more scary than good xD.

Neo Emolga
09-09-2022, 01:00 AM
Yeah, but NFTs aren't even clever. I mean there have been some pretty clever scams and hussles out there (some of these phishing scams that prey on the elderly and naive are downright diabolic), but this was easily one of the dumbest and most blatantly obvious scams. I mean it's one thing to trick someone into pretending you're an IT or government agent and convincing someone to give up their password, but it's quite another to get someone to buy a link to an image they don't own or have the rights to.

After buying an NFT, what are you supposed to do with it? It's not like some kind of DLC that gives you additional content to a game, movie, site, or anything like that, even if that stuff may be virtual. It's not like buying some aesthetic gear or bonuses in an MMO where at least there's some utility and entertainment value to that (even though pay-to-win games are still a terrible predatory practice in games). No, these things do NOTHING AT ALL!

I remember getting flak for buying MTG and Pokemon cards ("oh, they're just cardboard!!") but at least those have a physical form that can't be stolen via internet hackers and there is actually entertainment utility behind them in that you can use them in play. And some of the resell value on these pieces of cardboard sell for hundreds, if not THOUSANDS. And don't tell me it's just cardboard when money is literally just paper, too. :P

Voltaire Magneton
09-10-2022, 11:10 PM
Everyone who deals with cardboard merch agrees they're better than NFTs :P

Neo Emolga
09-11-2022, 02:16 AM
(Gah, come on, I was so close to winning!)

It's crazy how the simplest things can be worth so much dang money. A winning lottery ticket for example... xD

Voltaire Magneton
09-11-2022, 05:28 AM
(Sorry about that, I have some time in my hands to visit PXR :P)

True, at least for TCGs they have to be official to be usable, but for plain ol' pictures of artists, you could theoretically just print them, but it isn't quite the same.

Neo Emolga
09-11-2022, 04:55 PM
(Tis ok, just how this game works! ;D)

True, yeah, this is how counterfeit stuff became a thing. I know a dude who creates fake MTG cards (more for fun, he mentions upfront these aren't real and in many cases its quite obvious) but if he really wanted to, he could do the wrong thing with them and trick people into thinking they're authentic.

Although this is kind of the reason why I'd rather buy things like this from an actual retailer that at least looks like they've been selling official merchandise for a while rather than some random guy found on eBay or so.

Voltaire Magneton
09-13-2022, 09:48 AM
I've heard of people who can make indistinguishable fakes. Might as well stick to official stores if you want to avoid them

Neo Emolga
09-15-2022, 12:36 AM
Yeah, I always try to watch who I'm buying from. Most of the time you can be pretty certain, but other times it can be a gamble.

The stuff I've gotten from Mercari seems to be legit, but definitely inspect the photos before buying. Sometimes people still sell stuff in poor condition and the price may be lowered because of that. If the price seems lower than usual, make sure to keep a watch out for things like this.

Also, I need to restrain myself from buying any more Pokemon plushies from Mercari. I'm seriously running out of room but I still love them all. xD

Voltaire Magneton
09-15-2022, 10:37 PM
Pokemon plushies are too hard to pass up, I'm actually restraining myself from displaying all my plushies on my office table, one Dragonite's enough lmao

Just one? My desk has 28 alone (not including the ones on my dresser, my beer fridge, in my car, in the attic because I just don't have room for them...). Come on, dude, you gotta get those numbers up!

Voltaire Magneton
09-17-2022, 12:57 AM
Well, that's very encouraging :P

But it'd be hilarious that I would have more plushies than work stuff on my desk tho, I'm new at work so there's not much occupying my table at the moment.

Neo Emolga
09-17-2022, 01:10 AM
I think I have about 60 in total. I know, I'm nuts. 9 Emolga plushies, no less!

Although if I wear my Emolga kigurumi, would I then count as an Emolga plushie, too? Hmm...

Voltaire Magneton
09-18-2022, 07:03 AM
Stuff like that counts, they're definitely fluffy!

On a tangent, I've wanted to have this Vaporeon plush hat back then, but I can't seem to find them nowadays.

Neo Emolga
09-18-2022, 05:14 PM
I think there's peeps on Etsy that make those, or at least something close to it.

I get too carried away on that site. xD

Neo Emolga

Yeah, somehow... someway, he drove this giant bus through Charleston and Savannah and managed to not hit anyone or anything on these narrow streets totally not meant for that kind of a vehicle. It was pretty impressive and there were times I was totally expecting to hear a massive CRUNCH sound but he managed to do it without taking a scratch.

It's definitely not something I could ever do. xD

XD even if I could. Yeah wouldn't have been safe with me on quarantine. Ever make your way close by again let me know. I'd gladly visit any of my friends if they make it down around this area. Worth the time to visit. Savannah was really nice last time I visit.

Been forever since I've been to Charleston. Was still in high school last time I visit. Went on ghost tours I remember. XD

you went down to Savannah and didn't stop here? So close!

XD

I couldn't, you would have had to come to me because I didn't have a car. Not to mention our windows of free time were pretty few and far between and at most we only had an hour and a half to grab lunch and do shopping on our own before we were expected to meet back at the bus stops, so grabbing an Uber to go to you probably wouldn't be possible. It was a bit chaotic and we didn't really do too much outside of what was part of the package plan. :P

You're right, though, Georgia is INSANELY HOT while the rest of the country is chilly. It's a weird, weird anomaly.

That's what I mean though xD. I could've drove. It's not that far...not as far as driving to say NJ.

Yeah I don't get it and I hate it. It's more hot here where I am than Savannah too. I just want out xD I want the cold air and snow. :p

Yeah, on top of having Covid, too. Sad to say it totally wouldn't have worked out, but maybe... hopefully this winter.

Also, it's hotter over there than in Savannah? Geez, dude, this would drive me crazy to have weather like this all year round. xP

I know the stalker puzzle was already done, but I wanted to do it anyway since I love puzzles. XD Only noticed the timer afterward so I don't know if me getting distracted by my cat a few times added to that. XD

14:05 minutes, that's still very, VERY impressive!

To me, I feel this doozy of a puzzle is probably the hardest one of all of them simply because there's no color (B&W is kind of the theme of Black Moon), there's piece rotation involved, and the design of the metallic components doesn't depict anything in particular. It really does fit the theme of some ancient-looking metal mechanical widget who-knows-what-the-fudge-this-thing-is criteria. I play-tested the puzzle myself and while doing the straight borders gets you started and the wording is a good way to keep going after that, the stuff that came afterword left me feeling bewildered and I even had a good idea of what the dang thing looks like. I ultimately decided to just let it go out there as the final piece (I was already putting together so many other dang things for this season of Stalkers), but I figured if everyone else was getting stuck on it, I'd let it slide and count it as completed just by using Repair on it.

Still, DANG NICE JOB on completing that!

Are these jigsaw puzzles or mystery puzzles?

It's a jigsaw puzzle for Stalkers RPG! I use those to simulate having to repair something and put it back together. Meanwhile I use mazes to simulate picking locks and word searches for diplomacy interviews. I sometimes toss in other types of puzzles into the mix, but those are the main ones.

Voltaire Magneton

I can see why mazes and lockpicking are paired together haha

Neo Emolga
10-03-2022, 02:07 AM
Yeah, before, the mazes were kind of random and out there without too much basis. A few times in the more earlier versions, they showed up as a means to activate a dark relic or something like that. I think there were also a few to simulate hacking.

It's funny how many video games depict hacking puzzles in so many different kinds of ways. I've never hacked a real computer myself, but I've heard the process is actually pretty boring. xD

Hey, you could use it while filming a goofy low-budget movie. xD

I remember a few guys back in high school did that using silly stuff like action figures and crazy fluffy like that. It was so incredibly cheesy but absolutely hilarious just because of it. I wasn't a part of it but watching them made me wish I was. xD

Voltaire Magneton

Neo Emolga
10-09-2022, 12:11 AM
Yeah, back then, we didn't have smartphones or any easily accessible video recording stuff.

They looked like fun, but what I did do was make silly audio recordings and skits with my brother. Could have turned those into fun and goofy podcasts had those been around at that time.

Chakramaster
10-09-2022, 11:50 AM
Yeah it's odd lookin back at how things have improved technologically. Not having access to all we do now. I didn't make like home videos or anything, but a lot of old ideas probably left around.

My parents have these little tapes of me and my siblings when we were really little...I keep trying to convince them to get those converted to digital so we can watch them again. I know on some of them, me and my sister made our own "tv shows" with our plushies and toys and I wanna see them again.

Chakramaster

It's totally weird seeing all these older videos. Especially the one's before most of our time.

Neo Emolga
10-14-2022, 12:03 AM
Yeah, a lot of the goofy audio cassette recordings my brother and I did go back at least twenty years ago. We came up with the silliest but most random funny stuff and junk totally on the fly without any planning or scripting to it whatsoever like a series of goofy Monty Python skits or nonsense you'd see on Whose Line is it Anyway?

I still have the cassettes laying around somewhere. And I checked and they actually do sell converters for turning what's on a cassette tape into an MP3 file. Kind of tempting to do that and share it, but yeah, I'd definitely have to give peeps the heads up that these things are a bit old and aren't things my brother and I recorded yesterday. xD

Scytherwolf
10-14-2022, 04:52 AM
I'd really love to see those old "shows" we made since I remember some of them. I remember being really frustrated with my parents because they wouldn't put enough effort into the camerawork lol.

Chakramaster
10-14-2022, 10:27 AM
Yeah they sell converters for most things now. Or if not, there's programs for it. Heck most computers these days don't have Disk Drives for CDs anymore. It's all digital. "Follow the link listed on this paper and enter this code to download." That sorta thing.

Neo Emolga
10-15-2022, 07:12 PM
Yeah, newer games don't really seem to have physical copies anymore. Heck, some older programs don't even work on the new operating systems anymore, either. Just before Flash died entirely, Windows 10 killed my version of Flash 8 and I would have had to go back to Windows 7 to use it. And then bang, then one day it was totally gone.

And yeah, if you want a disc drive, it has to be external. Heck, I had to buy an external disc drive just so I could install Photoshop CS6 (which was absolutely worth it considering the horrendous subscription model they have now). The help menu doesn't work anymore, but whatever, if I have an issue, I can just Google that.

Aren't flash games emulated somewhere out there? Pretty sure they preserved it because of Flash going away.

Neo Emolga
10-17-2022, 11:32 PM
Maybe. I haven't checked Newgrounds in ages but the site still exists.

I think if you really wanted to, you could still get Flash player, but there's no security updates on it anymore, so you're taking a bit of a risk of someone putting malicious code in there. But yeah, the fact tablets and phones can't really handle Flash is what ultimately killed it.

Voltaire Magneton
10-19-2022, 04:22 AM

I played HEAPS of really great Flash games, but the ones that stand out the most are the Exmortis series, which was a nifty horror-themed flash game, and The Last Stand, which actually has a great roguelike game on Steam now loosely based on the old Flash game versions.

The first Exmortis was a relatively simple point and click game that you could beat in probably less than an hour, but the visuals were amazing for a Flash game and it scared my socks off the first time I went through it. And it gets much deeper with Exmortis 2 and pretty crazy with Exmortis 3. And The Last Stand had great replay value and was one of those games you could enjoy playing again and again.

Chakramaster

I forget the names of them. There was this trilogy I played. I think the first was called Trapped? Next was Pursuit and the finale (which took years after), was Escape or something. Was pretty cool in the end, but 2nd and 3rd were challenging.

I'm not sure if the Crimson Room and Viridian Room were Flash games, but those were pretty good. Managed to get through Crimson Room but its tougher sequel, Viridian Room, was something I got stuck on and didn't want to cheese through with a walkthrough.
