@ Corey and Bulbasaur: Definitely watch some others! I suggest Full Metal Alchemist and Elfin Lied to people just getting into anime, as the plot is amazing and the show can get pretty morbid. If you want some lighter stuff, look into Angel Beats or something like Squid Girl. c:

Currently, I'm trying to rewatch Blood+ ,Mushi-shi, and Claymore, then I'm watching Attack on Titan and Fairy Tale. :P

I just finished Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood about 2 minutes ago, it is such an amazing anime. Everyone should watch it, in my opinion. I've been super excited about Shingeki No Kyonjin (Attack on Titan) as well, I really like what it's doing, it's really good at pulling at your emotions.

OH MY GOD, I remember when I first finished FMAB. ;- ; Cried for days--same with Soul Eater. I usually tell people to watch the original, then watch Brotherhood, as Brotherhood has some gaps in it that aren't /too/ gamebreaking, but do alter your enjoyment. For example, in FMAB, there isn't an episode dedicated towards Edward's State Alchemist test, but in the original, there's that whole scene where they're impressed that he didn't use a circle and he saves that one random's life and etc.

The FMA OVA did not follow the manga. FMAB follows the manga. Any changes made between the two series, from FMA OVA to FMAB are in favor of the original plot from the manga.

Do you care more for the Dubs or the Subs?

Mostly I'm watching One Piece and Pokémon. I'm getting back into Naruto now that the anime has finished with another long run of filler and is FINALLY getting to the good stuff. Lastly I can't wait for Fairy Tail and Bleach to start their animes up again. I mean who wouldn't want to see Dragons and Spiritual Weaponry in action? :D

I liked subbed better because dubbed is kinda cheesy from being on cartoon network, although Ino did say a bad word ass one time I was watching it and it caught me off guard.

Well if it were Funimation dubbing the episodes then I'd expect that to become common knowledge. At least they aren't as anal retentive about censoring everything that could be suggestive content or culturally awkward to the viewers (unlike a certain company we all love to hate).

In any case, if you didn't care so much about sub vs dub you could use Pokémonepisode for that.

I just finished watching the second episode of Digimon Adventure (that's the very first season of Digimon). Gosh, how that show brings back childhood memories...

Other anime I'm following now: (in no particular order)

Death Note
Ouran High School Host Club
One Piece
Slayers
Fairy Tail
Nerima Daikon Brothers
Excel Saga
Hellsing

I found out about Nerima Daikon Brothers through my school's anime club. That show is so naughty, but fun and full of music anyway. We're also watching Baccano, which I've found difficult to follow, but has the most amusing couple of thieves ever.

The anime's this season seem to be pretty good all together. I would completely recommend any these to anyone.

Unbreakable Machine Doll isn't too bad either.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Story of Rebellion, watched it. Best movie of the year for me (which isn't hard, since I didn't watch that many movies this year).

Any interesting anime series you've recently gotten into watching?

I've been watching Ergo Proxy, which is an interesting futuristic dystopia anime series. Only just started and it has some confusing things to it, but it has an interesting premise of a computer virus infecting the companion robots every person has, along with having traces of a government conspiracy going on. If that's your kind of thing, check it out.

I also finished watching Air, which is a hour and a half long movie that was pretty good. It definitely gets you thinking.

I am currently trying to keep up with Fate/Staynight Unlimited Bladeworks. I haven't started the second season yet but since they're only two episodes in I could probably watch it in a night if the need arose.

Besides that I'm working on Mekakucity Actors and once I finish that I plan to move on to the Sacred Blacksmith.

And in case anyone was wondering, I do have a list of anime I need to watch. They're listed in order by how many episodes they have and then sorted by how many episodes into the anime I am. Both Mekakucity Actors and Sacred Blacksmith have 12 episodes but I'm on episode 8 of Mekakucity actors whereas I haven't started Sacred Blacksmith so that comes first.

I'm curretly watching....uhh...the monogatari series. I finished 3 seasons of it with 4 other friends, and anither friend says it is still going. And I'm planning on watching these other episodes in some anime that I never got to watch (Like SAO 2 Ep 16 onwards and.....other ones. I haven't been watching that many anime lately) and probably some new ones.

I've been thinking of watching anime like Fate/Stay, Mekaku City Actors, Nisekoi, and a bunch of sad emotional ones like Air, Kanon and yeah. I forgot the other ones I want to watch. I should check my list again xD

Well I have a long list but currently I just caught up with the dub for Durarara!! X2. And before you say anything, I watched the original Durarara!! while going through a dub phase so it seems weird to just switch to sub when I'm already used to dub.

Other than that I'm currently rotating between Fate/Staynight Unlimited Bladeworks, Kekkai Sensen, and The Sacred Blacksmith. They'll all really good but Kekkai Sensen and Sacred Blacksmith are probably more for people who like humor more than anything else.

Anime wise it's only been occasional. Occasional One Piece and starting to try others like FairyTail. There's others, but haven't start them yet.

The only real "anime I've watched recently, or will soon/today (maybe) watch is the 19th Detective Conan movie. Just released not too long ago online now. So it should be interesting to watch it. Decided to watch Boku dake ga inai Machi (a.k.a. Erased) because of what I read about it on MAL. IT IS SO GOOD; the mystery fan in me loves it a lot. I just finished watching all four episodes and really can't wait for the next one. Also, Satoru's mother is super badass. Love her!

I'm watching Boku Dake ga Inai Machi, Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjou, Akagami no Shirayukihime 2, and Hai to Gensou no Grimgar this season. My favorite of the four so far is Rakugo, but BokuMachi is really good as well. Both of these two are already on the shortlist for anime of the year for me.

Currently I'm working on Assassination Classroom Season 2, Divine Gate, Myriad Colors Phantom World, and Durarara!! X2 Ketsu as well as trying to work through some already completed animes.

Though, it's funny, I got recommended this anime called Saint Young Men. My friends were telling me that it's a movie plus two OVA episodes but it was still great and I should totally watch it. I was like, okay, and I went to watch it. Guys, it's an anime about what would happen if Jesus Christ and Buddah were roommates at an apartment in Japan. If you ever plan on playing the VN then no. The animation's ok bordering on bad at times, and every so often parts look out of place due to trying to recreate the VN's expresions too much. Storyline wise, the character personalities clash more, as most of the "silly" dialog has been cut, resulting in an anime that is serious 90% of the time, then does something ridiculous out of nowhere, clashing with the rest of the scene. All in all, it's nothing spectacular, but not really bad, just mediocre. If you do watch it, make sure to see at least the first 3-4 episodes, since the first episode doesn't really work so well in anime form, as it's a tutorial in the original. But all in all, I'd reccomend you just get the VN instead.

Assassination Classroom is a gem. Really good Shounen in my personal opinion. The best part about it is in S2 it ups the action while still maintaining a nice level of comedy. I'd definitely recommend watching it if you're into. As for watching it Dubbed or Subbed, I'd say pick and choose, I watched it subbed but the Dub isn't TOO bad.

I'm rewatching Neon Genesis Evangelion for the second time. I never actually watched the last four original episodes of the anime; I stopped at 22 and forgot about it, then watched End of Evangelion. I feel like it's important to know exactly every little detail that's going on so yeah. Before I watch EoE again though, I'm going to watch the Director's Cut Episodes. :3c I LOVE THIS ANIME. It's such a mind****. And very deep.

Recetly I went on a "Suggested" marathon which means I watched an anime all the way through on youtube then as soon as it ended I start the first episode of which ever anime comes up in the Next/suggested spot. You tend to get a lot of the same genre that way I noticed.

Currently it's Zetsuen no tempest. Man, that one messes with your head.

I've also been keeping up with a new one called Mob Psycho 100. Its pretty funny.

I just finished Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. SO MANY EMOTIONS WITH THAT FINALE MAN JEEZ. I also might have sacrificed a test grade to watch the last four episodes.

I finally went and watched one I've been looking at for a while, which was "A certain scientific railgun" and its sort of mirror version "A certain magical index" Currently in the middle of Railgun's second season. I have to admit I didn't like the way Index's plot was laid out, though I'm still going to watch its second season as well.

That aside, I've finished Blue Exorcist and can't wait for season 2 in January, so now I'm watching One Punch Man and Attack on Titan. I'm three episodes in with both and I'm alternating because you have to be in a certain mood to watch Attack on Titan. I've also started Trickster but only watched the first episode. I watch both Dragon Ball Super, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V weekly when the subs for said episodes go up, though the latter is ending in a few weeks time. I also watch the dub of Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters on Tuesdays cause my cable's on demand service has them, so I watch them on there to have it on the big screen.

Besides that I've gone back and started watching Yu-Gi-Oh! DM again after seeing the Dark Side of Dimensions movie, and feeling nostalgic.

Also went back and started watching Yu Yu Hakusho again. Got to episode 42 before stopping for right now. 42 will always be one of my favorite episodes from the show. It offers so much; action, comedy, drama, romance, resolve, all in a bit over 20 minutes time.

I finally kicked myself in the butt to watch My Neighbor Totoro. After seeing it referenced so many times everywhere and then some, I felt enough is enough, I gotta see what this little movie is about.

It may be more of a kids movie, but it's definitely got a lot a charm even adults like myself can appreciate. The animation is great, the scenery is fantastic, and you've gotta love these goofy, funny cat characters. It's definitely a sweet, light-hearted movie and it's easy to see why it's loved by many. And the bus stop part is the best.

If anyone hasn't seen it yet and needs a smile, watch this. :3

Currently I'm following several animes at once. Nanbaka and Trickster, from last season's anime, are reaching their climaxes, with only a few more episodes to go in each. The way both are playing out, it's looking to be intense.

As for what I've picked up for this season's anime, I've started Koro Sensei Quest and Blue Exorcist Season 2. Both are very entertaining and I'm enjoying them quite a bit, especially Blue Exorcist. It's nice to see the anime back on track with the manga.

As for animes I've completed, I finally finished everything related to the Seven Deadly Sins. That was such a good series, I wish they'd do more with it! They even started a season 2... sort of, but it was only four episodes. I wish they'd do more to be completely honest. It was such a good series of stories.

In addition, I'm trying to finish two older animes, Noragami and Baccano. Both are showing up to be really good so far, but I wish I had the time to dedicate to them what they're worth.

It's a nice anime though, good comeback story and all. My only issue with it is that it randomly changes into CG during like the fight scenes and while not really noticeable at first, once you do notice it you can't unsee it.

So now I'm starting Code Geass. I was going to start Black Cat but my friends have demanded Code Geass come first so we'll start with that next.

Konosuba is Hilarious, and honestly one of the best in terms of realism. It's one of those "Person gets sent to a fantasy world" things, but it really doesn't feel like one. All of the characters are true to their personalities as well as build on them some.

The first part of Episode one is kind of... just push through it, but it gets hilarious very quickly. As a Roleplayer I'm sure you'd love it.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through Charlotte at the moment. Not sure what people dislike about it. The only complaint I can come up with is the art style, in that ALL the females have huge eyes, that makes them all seem cute and ditsy, even though some of them are far from it. But the story is pretty cool and I can't find a complaint with it. (EDIT: Okay the last quarter was a little weird. In that it seems to move quickly, then comes to a halt. Then the dialogue is flowing and good, but then awkward, cold and robotic.)

Now I'm kinda down that it is so short. I am watching short anime at the moment more so to see a few different things. But I like this much more than I thought I would.

Just finished my third watching of Gurren Lagann. Aaaand I still cry like a little baby at all the high points. Seriously, what a well crafted show, managing to always keep the excitemnet up, and the scenes tense. No matter how powerful Team Dai Gurren got, you always felt a sense that their oppopents might get the upperhand. And when our heroes pull through you just can't help but clap. This show is a masterpiece, no other way to put it.

04-12-2018, 03:14 PM
It is nearly 1am, but I gotta write about this.

This is about the anime that I watched by mistake... And hell it was a mistake.

See, I really enjoyed Sword Art Online. Granted there were some things in it I disliked, but overall I enjoyed it.

A few months back, one of my friends recommends me a series that is a similar concept to SAO, but does the whole game mechanics thing better.

Then the last few days, on my Facebook feed, I saw ads for Death March To The Parallel World Rhapsody, and saw the premise was similar to SAO. Person gets stuck inside a fantasy MMORPG. I figured this was the recommended one, so decided to watch it. Big mistake.

See, there were some similarities to SAO, but this show managed to get all the stuff I didn't like about SAO, and amplify it.

SAO has Yui, the annoying in game character/AI who ends up filling the daughter role to the main character, and occasionally has use, but really, can be replaced with something less irritating for that use (such as a map...). The high pitched voice and the constant 'Daddy' hurt my soul. Death March doesn't just have a Yui. No, it has four... Legit Four younger girls and three older. About three episodes in, the main character ends up coming to own by default, three demi-human slave girls. One that is part lizard (somewhat scaly skin and a tail) who is about 17, and two who're part cat and dog (ears and tail) who're about 9-10. And to be honest, I didn't mind it too much. The premise of it is these demi-humans are abused (legit, he finds these girls about to be stoned by an angry mob, for the sake of them being demi-humans) and it was well done showing him trying to find accommodation for them at the Inn he was staying at, and being rejected.

Then fairly soon after, he ends up buying another two slave girls, with the intention of freeing them. A fourteen year old and an eleven year old. Here is the catch. He didn't realize they were sex-slaves, until they tried to do what they thought was their job. Here is the other catch. The 11 year old is actually a reincarnated person who has all the memories of their old life. Basically an adult in a child's body... An adult in a child's body that really wants to root the main character... She tries to use psychic abilities to trick him into it, but the game mechanics mean a slave has to obey their master so he commands her never to use her abilities on him. And after that there is just this awkwardness of her trying to get with him, and accusing him of cheating on her when he gets to close to another girl. And beyond her, there is just general innuendo between the main character and these girls who are his adoptive daughters... So yeah, I'd happily sit through the 3 or so Yui episodes of SAO for 24 hours than watch that again...

Remember in SAO Kirito tending to be ridiculously overpowered? To the point where he nearly beat the game about halfway through the Aincrad Arc, only losing because the game master cheated? Satou (the main character of Death March) makes Kirito look so good. See, Kirito is like the RPer who's character is ridiculously overpowered, but tries to justify it. Satou is just OP. Kirito starts off the game with an advantage from his beta testing, quick reflexes, and recognition of patterns. Because of that, some lucky drops, and the nature of MMOs (the rich stay rich, the poor stay poor), ended up being extremely powerful. Satou on the other hand (if I remember correctly, as I binged it in a night and my brain is mush RN) had a glitch in the game that benefited him. He starts off with base stats, uses a spell that he implemented into the game at the last minute, and ends up with maxed stats, and near unlimited skill points, a s*** heap of cash, as well as being able to learn anything. Legit, he picks up a sword, and he learns the one handed skill, then uses his skill points to max it out then and there. He gets hit by a poison spell? He learns poison resistance, then uses his skill points to max it out then and there. I mean, Christ, his equipment and gear? All came from the last minute spell I mentioned earlier, when he was attacked by a large group of high powered enemies and used it to kill them (last resort spell) and they dropped heaps of cool s***. So yes, Kirito is OP, but I don't mind. They do a decent job of it. Satou on the other hand, is literally hax.

Whilst I admit, SAO handled the video game element well (it could have been better but it was done well enough where there was enough focus on it to remind audiences they are in a game without wasting screen time dwelling on unimportant details), Death March didn't. Game mechanics are discussed very rarely, and on the odd chance they are, you know it's because in the next episode or two, it will make a plot point. Otherwise, let's be honest, it seems like a fantasy series.

Then there is the stuff that it can't even compare to SAO with.

There was no real story. I just watched 12 episodes of fanservice with implied incestuous links. Occasionally there would be a 2 or 3 episode arc, and that would be alright, but really there was no overarching plot, and therefore, no resolution. SAO, each plot had a point. Aincrad was to escape. Fairy Dance was to find Asuna. Phantom Bullet was to stop Death Gun. The last two arcs were a little sketchy but still followable. Meanwhile this, was literally just about Satou and his group of either cliche'd or personality lacking, slave girls.

Legit, it is very rare that I watch/listen to something and regret it. The only other thing that comes to mind is V by Maroon 5 (shouldn't have wasted my money...). But this... I am never getting this Thursday Night back...

Binged Beyond The Boundary yesterday, and bought the Bluray for Beyond the Boundary: I'll Be Here. Watching through the first movie of it which is basically a condensed version of the series. Good for a recap before I begin watching the sequel movie.

Overall I liked the series a lot. Only complaint was Hiroomi and his weird fetish that they keep bringing up. Makes Akihito's obsession with girls in glasses seem normal... And Akihito's mother...

I prefer dubs as well. I am a workaholic and like to have some sort of project open at the same time and work on that whilst I watch and subs make that impossible. That and reading takes a lot of the emotion out of an film's dialogue as opposed to hearing it in a language I can understand. Especially if it's a good dub cast.

Watching the English Dub of Romeo X Juliet at the moment.

One thing I am noticing in watching Dubs (and I find it hilarious, and feel slightly cultured from it (even though people would probably think watching dubs of anime is the opposite of cultured)) is how small the community of dub voice actors in the big name series are. Every new series I watch practically (new to me, not necessarily recent), I will recognize at least one voice actor. In this case, I heard hints of Takumi Fujiwara from Initial D in Mayor Vitturio in Romeo X Juliet.

Some other common ones are when I watched Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and In This Corner Of The World, and recognized Todd Habberkorn, who I knew better as the voice of Keisuke Takahashi from Initial D.

Not a week goes by at my anime club where we watch a dub and I don't recognize one of the voices.

I'm in a magical girls kick at the moment! (well, I always am, honestly)
For now, I'm watching through Huggto! Precure!
I'm amused that the bad guys are all salarymen themed, and the emphasis is on the magic of 'having a future' which is synonymous with motherhood and a career. It's kinda funny that they all have to look after a baby? But also, kinda annoying. I don't like babies that much!

Been watching through Sword Art Online: Alicization (was waiting for the dub and still haven't watched the final two as the dub isn't out for them yet) and I gotta say I am torn on my enjoyment of it.

Basically I really like the overarching plot of it. The fact that instead of being in a game, he is trapped in a simulation with the digital copies of infant souls raised inside the simulation. It's a refreshing idea, and it really makes it tricky to view characters such as Eugeo as Alice through the lens of human or program when they have elements of both.

The thing that is killing it for me is just how unnecessarily gross it has gotten. Don't get me wrong, I am no stranger to SAO and the once per season "Kirito stops a rape" scene, but this season, it was just unsettling and over the top, as well as the fact that Administrator can't seem to keep her clothes on, and seems to hypnotize Eugeo by getting naked in front of him. The series is crossing more and more over the line, and whilst it has stepped over it in the past, not this far.)

Just watched Mirai, and I have positive to mixed feelings about it.

Overall, the film was pretty sweet, and I found myself smiling at a lot of what is happening (even if the main character annoys the s*** out of me), but I kinda feel like the way it was advertised was misleading.

The way the film is advertised kinda shows the relationship between the siblings growing due to the older brother spending time with the future version of his younger sister, who takes him on rag tag adventures through time to meet other parts of their family. That the bond they build translates to the present (infant) version of herself.

However, in reality, the future version of Mirai (whom the film is named after, and is the core of all the promotional stuff), is hardly in the film, and really, (and I don't like this) the film could have worked just as well without her. It was more about Kun (the older brother) learning about himself through misadventures with people in his family through time.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the film, but was lead to expect something else that I would have enjoyed more.

Well I binged Panty & Stocking with a friend. If you like gross and vulgar animes and can stand very lewd humor, it's actually a worthwhile watch since it's a love letter to all forms of animation. Unfortunately, since it's not site appropriate, if you want further details I'd suggest PMing me.

So right now I've started Sailor Moon Crystal. My parents wouldn't let me watch the original Sailor Moon as a kid so I thought I'd give the remake a try and if I like it maybe go back and watch the original. Either way, I'm only a few episodes in but I'm already enjoying it.

Rise of the Shield Hero. Really enjoying it so far, love how he basically owns the other heroes through his actions.

I'm also excited for My Hero to drop season 4 soon.

Alternating depending on who I'm watching with. Certainly a mixture of genres.

A friend of mine is letting me mooch their Netflix account so I've been watching a bunch of shows recently. I know a few of these are technically cartoons but I'm going to list everything here anyway because it's easier to condense it into one post.

Shows I've watched:
-She Ra: Princess of Power- Highly recommend. Good LGBT+ rep, cute designs, solid reboot of the original 80s show, lots of likeable characters. Dreamworks did really well with this and the entire show is on Netflix.
-Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts- Highly HIGHLY recommend. Once again, good LGBT+ rep, very unique and interesting designs, lots of interesting characters with different motivations and dynamics. Very unique premise based off a webcomic called "Kipo" that Dreamworks has done well adapting. First two seasons are on Netflix with heavy implications of a third season being in the works.
-Seven Deadly Sins Season 3- Pretty good, if you liked Seasons 1 and 2 you'll like this one. Also Season 4 just released on Netflix today so that's going on the to-watch list.
-Beastars- Very interesting but it is NOT FOR EVERYONE. It's gory and has some very overt sexual themes so this is definitely an adults only show. Recommend reading up on this first before you dive into it.
-Pokémon Journeys- I really enjoyed this. It's less formulaic than previous seasons so that imo makes it more fun.
-Avatar: The Last Airbender- Watch it. Everyone should see this show.

Finished 5 episode of Kanojo, Okarishimasu, When I first decided to watch this show, my expectations were very low but that first episode was so damn funny, I couldn't stop laughing. I really like the artstyle and the story so far.

Kite. And it'd be nice to find something like it, in terms of a great story and Hentai elements. So far found only Mezzo forte

I'm not sure if anyone else has been keeping up with Attack on Titan but I will say that the last season has caused me great pain.

I have more questions than answers...

I'd heard the latest season is absolutely brutal.

Personally I just finished season 4 of Seven Deadly Sins and I NEED season 5 because that cliffhanger is ILLEGAL!! But for now I'm watching Fate/Extra Final Encore. Seems interesting so far and I have a lot more questions than answers but I'm sure I'll get those answered in due time.

finished on second season wanted to wait till all episodes are in :D very good anime, but certainly a bit disturbing, all this flesh flying around, people being eaten as though they are candies :D

my favourite one was Death Note, darker than black and psycho pass cool ones too
