I can't help but wonder: what are some video game endings that have really stuck out to you guys? Are there any that you've particularly savored, cried over, or raged at? Or does the end of your favorite game always leave you hungry for more? If you're going to delve into specifics, please leave them in spoilers or white out the text, although you should be fine if you're just saying "this was really cool" or "wow, they shouldn't have done that".
In case you're curious, I just finished Dishonored (Clean Hands ftw) and the ending really struck a chord with me. It felt really rewarding to have my extra sneaky work pay off, especially with Emily's little "Daddy" drawing. Holy crap, kid, way to tug some heartstrings. I really like endings that you can shape - the Bioshock games also had really great, really poignant endings (particularly Infinite unu).

I liked the ending of World of goo and Little inferno, something about them always seems somewhat magical to me o3o
Also the Mario party island tour Bowser tower if that counts, since I like a game that keeps it real by screwing you every time/shot

I'd have to say Earthbound's ending was pretty touching.
Out of the more recent games, I liked Max Payne 3's ending. I'd say it was a good way to close the series, unless there will be a Max Payne 4, of course.

No, no. You want to talk about touching endings to the mother games? (Mother 2 = Earthbound) Let's talk about Mother 3. That game is seriously the most depressing game in the entire world, and the thing that tops everything off is the ending. I don't cry over video games, but I'm not going to lie, I did cry here. Profusely. Go figure out a way to play a translated version of Mother 3, because it is seriously the best game I have played.

RIP my heart. I'm playing through Mother 3 right now, and man, the first few chapters are like the one-two punch to your emotional gut. Can't wait to see the ending, I know it's going to be good D:

The endings to the Kingdom Hearts games. They left a sense of slight foreboding, making you wonder if things really had been set right. One of the most beautiful series EVER.

My thoughts when finishing a few games with epic endings recently:
Final Fantasy VII - Sweet Revenge.
Final Fantasy VIII - I got lucky...
Resident Evil 6 - I can't believe I let you get the rocket launcher before me.
The Last of Us - ... D: WHAT NO RESOLUTION?!?!!?!

Not that anyone would know what this is but, Dreamfall. Longest Journey left on a giant cliffhanger and Chapter's Book one JUST GOT GOOD AND THEN STOPPED. I. NEED. MOAR. STORY.
More to come at six.

You're right, I don't know what it is. Wiki says it's an adventure game though, and the graphics and character designs remind me of Tomb Raider. Would Tomb Raider and maybe Uncharted be a good comparison?

Still need to finish The Last of Us... xD
All the Mass Effect games and their endings. Certainly stuck with me. PMD (Blue Rescue and Sky/Time/Darkness) definitely stood out to me. I'm sure there are many more games, but those are the main ones for me. c:

That's it. I decided I'll give Mass Effect another try due to you praising it so highly. I'm sure it's great, I just wasn't in much of a gaming mood when I first played it.

DAAYYYUUUMMMM STRAIGHT! 8D That sounds like a fantabulous idea. I know what you mean. It's also harder to get into the first one than the second one. The second one was where I started from, although I started to play the first one as I played the first. It got a little confusing at times because I would mix the two games up. XD

I have this habbit of playing shooter games until I die the first time, turning it off and never playing it again... Unless it has something else going for it like horror elements, and Mass Effect is sci-fi and seems far deeper and interesting than Halo so yah, it's worth another shot. I'll probably just start with the second one, I think that's the one I played last time actually.

Here's some of my favorites:
-Pokemon X and Y
I've played through these games, many, many, MANY times, and I get goosebumps every single time during the ending. The epic music and Fletchling's return make me really adore it.
-Pokemon Black and White
Most Pokemon games have their epic scenes and then you challenge the Elite Four, but BW ended after the final fight with N. It was a really touching ending, demonstrating that we don't have to live in a black and white world!
-PMD Games
Pretty much every PMD game ending is superb. I prefer GtI and 2 to the first game, though.
-Soul Calibur
Before Soul Calibur V, each character had an individual story and ending, and they were all pretty good. Soul Calibur V brought a truly nice ending, and though the main story was drastically shortened due to time restraints, the game's story was still really good. It was a lovely reunion. :3
I don't really play any games other than Pokemon

Almost all of the final fantasy stories get to me but...
Tactics for GBA really stuck out to me. I was very moved by it. The question of whether or not living in a fantasy world is ethical or not was just beyond the average video game. I also have a huge obsession for the Viera race. That game was near perfection.
Chrono Trigger has a big place in my heart as well. Great characters and moving story over all. The concept of time travel and saving the world is always a hit for me too!

Pokemon Ruby. Worst ending ever. I won't make the same mistakes this time!

The Walking Dead Season One. I literally cried at the ending. The main character dies.

Spec Ops: The Line: Wow they lay it on heavy for that development and that ending.
Walking Dead season 1: It was a great close to the storyline. Sequel isn't as good imo.
Dangan Ronpa 2: 1's ending was interesting, but 2 really had a bigger twist right at the end.
Virtue's Last Reward: Going through it, the ending of the game really was interesting, especially when informed by 999.
Radiant Historia: It is heavily reminiscent of Chrono Trigger in terms of its style and presentation. Even the whole time travel thing is explored, but in a different way than Chrono Trigger. I really draw a lot of parallels because this game felt like a love song to Chrono Trigger as a classic, and made it into something with its own parallels at the end.
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis: I still remember having to try for that hidden ending a few times. The story is evidently quite tragic, and I really appreciate the branching story paths, despite it being true that one of them is canon to link with the other Tactics Ogre game. It is a prequel after all.
