Time to see the rise of a king! And marvel upon how stellar it is!
A brand new Pokemon TCG set is coming to the United States and beyond on September 13th! Plenty of brand new Pokemon are coming to the Pokemon TCG. Some of them pushing the Tera mechanic to brand new heights with Stellar Pokemon!
Stellar Pokemon are Tera Pokemon that retain their normal typing but have powerful attacks that require different Energy type requirements. Leading the way for these Stellar Tera Pokemon is Terapagos ex. A powerful Colorless Pokemon that can hit big numbers depending on the number of Pokemon on the Bench. This damage output can get even higher if you use new support cards that will all come out in Stellar Crown.
Set DetailsBelow are the set details.
Over 170 cards
More than a dozen new Pokémon ex
More new ACE SPEC cards
More than 20 Trainer cards
More than 30 Pokémon and Trainer cards with special illustrations

Prereleases for Stellar Crown will happen this weekend. You will get a Build & Battle kit that will contain a full premade deck and one special promo card!* Along with some Stellar Crown booster packs. This special promo card will certainly be useful as you power up your deck for a new meta featuring Stellar Crown!
Below are the Pokemon cards that will be featured as Prerelease Promos.
Bouffalant
If you want to build a Terapagos ex deck then you will surely want to have a few Bouffalant in your deck! That is because if your bench has two or more Bouffalant in play then your Basic Colorless Pokemon will take 60 less damage thanks to the Curly Wall ability.
Granted, this ability will be useful in any deck using Colorless Pokemon. Still, we all know that this Bouffalant will be there to help your Terapagos ex take more hits so it can dish out more hits.
Drifblim
If you want to have a fun deck then Drifblim is your Pokemon. This Drifblim has the attack called Everyone Explode Now. An attack that has been seen before in the Pokemon TCG and well…It’s back!
Everyone Explode Now does 50 damage for each Drifblim and Drifloon that you have in play. While this attack maxes out at 200 damage, it can be fun to see happen for a single Psychic energy. The only downside is that these Pokemon take 30 damage.
Though, is that really a problem in a prerelease format? Not really when you are doing 200 damage to your opponent’s Pokemon. May not see much meta play but perhaps combo with the Drifblim in Scarlet & Violet base set that damage for each damage counter on it. Though…I wouldn’t count on that.
Crabominable
Here comes the big guys! Crabominable is here to do heavy damage for a single Water energy. As long as you have Kofu in your deck and eventually in the discard pile.
Crabominable has the Haymaker attack that costs one Water energy and four Colorless energy. This attack does 250 damage and can’t be used during your next turn.
That would be a problem but Crabominable has the ability called Food Prep. This ability makes Haymaker cost less to use by removing one Colorless Energy from the attack cost for each Kofu in your Discard. That means eventually you can use Haymaker and do 250 damage for 250 damage. That is enough damage to knock something out.
In case you were wondering about Kofu. This Supporter card lets you put two cards from your hand to the bottom of your deck. If you do that then you can draw four cards. So you can get rid of useless cards in your hand to draw more cards. Could be useful but it isn’t the end of the world if you need to discard two Kofu with an Ultra Ball.
Ledian
Ledian.
Ledian…
Yeah. Even in a game where Ledian can be as good as a person wants it to be. It can’t be allowed to be good.
If you want to play Ledian then you will play it for the Glittering Star Pattern ability. This ability allows you to swap out one of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon that has 90 HP or less to the active spot upon evolving.
It is a weaken Boss’s Orders. Ledian could have gotten the same ability as Umbreon VMAX that does the same thing without the 90 HP requirement. Maybe it could have gotten an ability related to the new Tera support. Instead Ledian gets this.
Maybe if somebody wanted to target Charmander or Cleffa on the Bench to take knockouts. Yes. This could be useful but…I bet somebody is going to get a few Ledian and just not feel happy. And I am sorry.
Because I know I will be sad if I get Ledian from my Prerelease kits. If I go to multiple Prereleases then…Well lots of sadness.
Final ThoughtsStellar Crown is going to be an amazing set. If you want to get your hands on these cards early and play with them then hit up a prerelease. Stellar Crown Prereleases will run from August 31st to September 8th. You will see Stellar Crown in all stores starting on September 13th.
If you want to play competitive with cards from Stellar Crown then that they will be tournament legal on September 27th.
Best of luck in your pulls!
