Since people seem to be afraid of making new threads- here's one to start off with!

Echo. Post any theories/thoughts you've got about Echo and discuss. I've read quite a few interesting theories (can't say which are right/wrong)- share them with the world!

Oh- and for the few that do know- no saying anything regarding who Echo is here.

I'll begin with some crazy theories for fun!


Crazy Theory #1

Echo represents the reader on a metaphysical level. Not only does he break the fourth wall, but jumps back and forth through it at will, modifying events as he sees fit. He can only interact with crazy, amnesiacs.


Crazy Theory #2

Echo is part of a dangerous Pokemon cult who use Psychic powers to get into the heads of various Pokemon, wipe their memories, then use them as part of a diabolical plan to [Rule the World / Conduct Illegal Experiments / Control All the Ice Cream]. Since direct control requires too much "power", they resort to using more standard social manipulation.

Aliens. Naya is only the 18th victim. The Clefairy are coming.

May I add some crazy theories of my own? Here's one:

My (strange) Theory:
Echo is in a sense a darker side of Naya who is attempting to control her to push itself to the surface. Echo is likely responsible for her memory wipe (if my theory is true, which it most likely isn't). So basically, my theory is that Naya has two souls inside of her- Herself, and Echo, each fighting for dominance and control over her mind and body- sort of like split personalities. But rather than like physical fighting (wait... how would split personalities physically fight anyway XD), I believe Echo is tricking her into its bidding (I don't know Echo's gender, sorry)

Naya is crazy. I mean, literally cCrazy. I told you it was a "crazy" theory.

My theory is that Echo is Giratina. The shadowy voice fits, the knowledge of events, the backgrounds (the most recent page reminding me very much of a scene from the movie...) and the fact Giratina started the whole war in the first place long ago. Given time, I think Giratina has at least realized his mistakes (yeeeah I classify Gira as a male usually...) and at the very least, isolation has made him lonely. Not being near what could be considered family is one of the worst banishments.

However, because he is banished - and the only one who has the power to really break him free is Arceus, who seems to be taking a convenient nap while all this shizz goes down - he can only really do so through specific people. Why Naya? Who knows, but I betcha it has to do with that purdy necklace and lack of memories. Lack of memories leads to innocence, and innocence leads to easy manipulation... but also less judging. Echo is encouraging, but not quite manipulating from what I've seen, and at the very least since Naya will have known him the longest, once the innocence wears off (eventually - war taints quickly) and it is finally revealed who he is, she can then judge for herself if what he has said is true rather than hop on the automatic "HATE HATE HATE EVIL" bandwagon.



Buuuuuuuuuut it's just a theory.

My favourite one is that Mist is Echo. XDD Oh lerd, that would bring about confusion. I like the other ones too! I bet Neko's secretly laughing at us as she reads these. XD

I might have to draw an April Fools comic with the Mist is Echo part. =P (Beware the day April Fools is on a Friday. I swear I'll have fun with that)

On a more serious note, I don't think I've ever officially stated Echo's gender. =P In fact, I try not to. I have to make a conscious effort not to use he/she/him/her when referring to Echo.

I know quite a few people who dislike Arceus. I've got a neutral opinion towards him, though. He'll be appearing in the comic, but not for a while, I think. Mew doesn't have any planned appearances yet, though. xD

Naya probably wouldn't like how manipulative she had become and thus would strive not to be like that which means Echo would then cease to exist and everything explodes anyway. THE END.

Also, two more days before the hiatus begins. Looks like Ch. 4 will be scheduled to start in January like originally planned. Maybe.

Who's to say PRS won't have its dark moments? It's been silly so far, but the comic IS rated PG-13 for mild violence and language. >D

And I've got a habit of killing characters off. Just ask my NaNo story. Only 4 chapters in and I've begun murdering unnamed characters. No named character deaths yet. But there will be.

I just did... 'research' and got an match for what I was searching (DON'T GUESS, I'M KEEPING IT SECRET!!!)... if my guess on who this is is right along with my guess for their reasons, I'll want a psyche globe for protection... If I were a Mew that is.

Echo is the ghost of Joseph Stalin.

They say Hitler's brain is stored in a jar somewhere, but in reality, it was Comrade Joseph Stalin who figured out a way to reach the Pokemon World... as a disembodied spirit.

He haunts Naya in an attempt to establish communism once again. A new revolution in a new world!

So, after some failed attempts in the past, I finally decided to attempt sketching Echo again. This time it came out rather successfully. Either I got better at drawing, or Echo got easier to draw.

Echo is the ghost of one of the world's founders. It can only speak to certain Pokemon who have a "connection" to the afterlife. It tries to influence the world towards a specific path. Where that path leads, no one knows... for now.

Crazy Theory #9

Naya is caught in an time loop, which repeats time over and over again. She has experienced her adventure (and multiple others) quite a number of times and knows how it usually ends. Normally she loops back in as herself, but this time she loops back as a disembodied voice within her unlooping, unaware self. As part of a huge prank on herself, Looping Naya decides to call herself Echo and messes with her own mind with mixed messages and vague hints.

Crazy Theory #10

Naya was subject to experimental testing by space-travelling humans. In order to better understand these "Pokemon", the humans injected Naya (among others) with a special artificial nanite cerebral monitor. The idea was that it would monitor her thoughts and brain patterns. Unfortunately, the unique makeup of Naya's system (either her specifically or because she is a Pokemon) caused the monitor to malfunction and gain a sort of sentience. It uses its own machinery and parts of Naya's brain to store it's (consciousness).

Echo is this intelligence. It is conflicted between carrying out its mission, exploring its newfound sentience, and deciding what it thinks about Naya.

1) It's a classic Red and Blue rescue team. Echo is essentially a more powerful version of gardevoir that can make contact all the time rather than just in dreams. Echo's a spirit which is how it knows, hears, sees, etc. everything that is going on.

2) Echo is Naya's connection to the human world. I haven't figured this one completely out but it's like Echo is human and contacting Naya somehow via dimensions and such.

xD Sorry, it's a common misconception that PRS is a PMD comic and some people base theories around PMD stuff. Just don't want people to mistake things for following PMD rules and all.
