Hello and welcome to the Judge Application Thread for the monthly contests.
Here, you can apply to be a judge for the next contest to start up. Anyone can become a judge, no matter your skill, no one will be turned down due to skill.

Why should I become a judge in the monthly contests?
Well this is simple, because it gives you experience. You get to see people's work and you get to comment on it. You will develop your critiquing skills, which will help others and it will help you look at your own work analytically so you can improve it much more effectively. This will be a great opportunity if you wish to further your art skills or critiquing skills. At the same time, it will be a fun experience to try out.

Rules:

You must fill the form below fully to be eligible to become a judge. You must redo the form whenever you wish to become a judge, so if you plan on becoming a judge more than once or if you do not become a judge first try then I suggest keeping note of the form you filled out before, so you do not have to fill it out again.
You must respect all artists. No hurtful comments, unreasoned decisions and insults. All comments must be constructive so it is helpful for the artist. This rule covers both sides of bias. You must not favour a piece of work if your friend did it and must not unfavour it if it was done by someone you dislike. This is not fair on the entrants.
You will be excluded from entering your work from the contest in the month you are judging. This is so it is fair on everyone. So make sure the month you judge is a theme you would not mind missing.
You can only Judge a contest once every 4 months. This is to allow others to have a go at judging. A note will be made in this thread of the previous four month's judges which are excluded from reentering the judging selection. This rule may be ignored in special circumstances or if there is not enough judge applications.
To prove you have read the rules. Include the word Paintbrush in your application form
You must make sure you can stay obligated to the role for the month. If not, do not apply. Depending on how many entries we get, judging can be demanding, so make sure you are up for it before you decide to apply
No sourness or bitterness if you are not picked as a judge one month. The selection process will try to pick out the applicants that we feel, at the time, will be able to complete the judging position.

Ignoring these rules may result in a ban from becoming a judge of these contests which is either temporary or permanent, depending on the circumstances.

How the selection process will work.
The process is quite simple really. I will work like this:

On the 21st of each month, judges applications will open (The thread will be unlocked)
Applications can be submitted all through until the 28th of the month. The thread will then be locked.
Me and Braixen will decide on the two judges for a few days
On the 1st of each month, the two judges will be announced in this thread.
The thread will then close until the 21st again and the contest will start on the 5th.

What will happen if I am a judge?
Being a judge isn't terribly complicated. for most of the month, you will just sit back and watch the art submissions roll in. As a judge, you will judge all of the different sections, which are

Digital Art
Traditional Art
Editing
Spriting

and any more that get enough demand to be added. This means that you could potentially have a lot to judge.
When it hits the 19th of the month, the judging period will start. That means you will collect all of the submissions and look at them and judge them. You will then use the criteria and judging guide to score the work and get a total. You will also need to give some feedback. Give a paragraph of feedback, no less than three lines each so it can help the artist improve. You will then send the totals to me and/or Braixen so we can collect all of the judging and total the scores to get a final winner. You will have a week to do this and the judging period will end on 26th of the month, whether you have given your judging in or not so the contests are not set back. On the 27th, all of your judgement will be complied into a results thread for the contest and as of then, your job as a judge has come to an end.

Judging Guidelines:
Use these when judging artwork and fill them out for easy reference.
The judging guidelines mean:

Fitting to Theme: Every month there will be a new theme. The work will be judged on whether it fits with the theme well. The closer you feel it is related, the higher it will score
Look: How dies it look to you? Does it look pleasing to the eye? This is based off your personal liking for the work,so feel free to mark it however, it is your view so there is no wrong judging.
Skill and Effort: Does it look like it took time and effort. This will be split into two. You can get a max of five for Effort and five for skill, giving a max of 10
Experimentation and Risk: Did they try something different or risky or is it the same typical thing. The more unique and different it is, the higher this will score, so if it is similar, or you feel the idea is used a lot, this will not score very high in this category.
